Um....WTF?!?! I want the book everyone else read and gave 5 stars!

This was just....

I only made it about 4 chapters in and had to quit. I lost count on the number of grammatical errors. Missing words, extra words, mis-spelled words...you name it. And honestly I am not the grammar police. I can't spell to save my life and normally I can over-look an error here and there. But this was....

For starters....people, this book is $5.99 on Amazon. 5 effing 99! That's highway robbery. I mean did you not have ANY of your friends read your book???

Which brings me to the actual story itself. Ally is a mechanic...enroute to visit her grandparents she happens upon a car along the side of the road having car trouble. So Ally stops and now we meet Nathan (I'm not even sure this was his name--but I'm going with it). Nathan can't believe that Ally could actually fix her car--sexist much?? But she does which must have really impressed Nathan because he asks her out.

Ally says no and Nathan proceeds to stalk her all over town. He asks her out, she says no (she's done with rich men)....he shows up somewhere else and asks her out, she says no.....blah, blah, blah. I guess Ally gets tired of telling him no and lets him in her apartment and figures, why not have sex with him?!?! Which was NOT HOT AT ALL. So I gave up. Sorry Ally and Nathan.

PS--Apparently his name was Cole--thank you to Farah for clearing that up in her review!

2.5 sad stars!

I really had huge hopes for this book I was sadly let down…
The story is unoriginal and there are soo many errors in this book from incorrect wording to bad grammar and punctuation. This seriously needed some editing!

Did I seriously read the same book as everyone else?

Ally is not your typical kind of girl… She is somewhat of a tomboy and a mechanic.

After walking in on her boyfriend of two years getting a blow job by his assistant, Ally is devastated!

Her ex-boyfriend Jason tries to apologise and beg and plead with her for his ‘mistake’ but Ally wants to hear nothing!

She has one rule- NO SECOND CHANCES

Two weeks later while driving she sees a car broken down and she stops to help. It happens to be a stunning guy in a suit with blue eyes.
She helps him and he asks for her number and she declines. That’s how she meets Cole.

Before you know it, Cole is perusing Ally- showing up at her work, when she’s out to dinner with friends and finally at her apartment---URMMM STALKER ALERT?! LoL!

The author tries to make Cole come across like a Christian Grey sort of guy but seriously fails!

So after running away and acting like she doesn't like him he shows up her her door and suddenly they start getting it on and they have sex.

Instead of treating her as a one night stand, Cole seems to want more from Ally.
She is reluctant because of what happened with Jason.

Also something is off with him… she keeps getting this feeling that his hiding something.

Ally gives in anyways and on the second night with Cole she tells him her issues with liars and cheaters. She has serious daddy issues and her father hurt her when he was having an affair while her mother was dying of cancer and on her dying bed she was calling her husband who was off with his floozy!

Apparently the sex is supposed to be hot but I didn’t find anything great about it.

As expected Jason stalks Ally like a crazy person and within a week Ally has practically moved in with Cole and his professing his undying love for her! Seriously is this for real? One week…!?!

Then his buying her dresses and things and his driver takes her to/from work because his worried about her safety- again a bad version of being a bossy/controlling boyfriend.

Nothing surprised me in this book (except the strange coincidence that Cole was a bad version of Christian Grey and James Cavendish) and the twist really wasn’t a twist because I really don’t see the big deal?

To me the whole Gorgeous rich man who go after what they want and are excellent at everything story has been used many times.

If I had to sum this book up it would be:

Girl dates boy --> Boy cheats on girl and begs for forgiveness --> Girl meets new boy and falls insta-crazy in love --> crazy ex boyfriend stalks girl --> new boyfriend protects girl --> new boyfriend fcuks up --> Girl breaks up with new boy and is alone -->story ends with cliffy

GoodRead? Um, no. GREATRead...

After reading Beverley Hollowed's first book, Forever and Always, I couldn't wait to get my hands on her second novel.... And let me tell you - I was NOT disappointed... not one little bit.
Believable and engaging characters, rich and unexpected plot, and scorching sex scenes that will curl your hair!
Cole Thomas & Ally Brody are realistic in their achievements as well as their flaws, in their hopes and in their fears. I instantly related to both of them.
The plot was not one line, there are layers here - layers that suck you in and touch your heart and mind. I found myself chewing my nails and worrying about them when I couldn’t read (like when I was driving my kids all around town).
And the sex - whoa, baby! ***Spoiler*** Loved that Cole wasn’t always in charge (My husband was very grateful for that aspect of the book, as well - if you know what I mean).

If you're tired of wimpy, naive girls and men who always have to be in control for no good reason other than their own desires, then this is a book for you.

It’s a page turner and when you turn the last page you’ll be begging for more - and that’s good because there’s a sequel in the works!

You have got to be kidding me... Was that book even for real? That was... it's... I can't even... I... Pfff, well the only way I can describe my feelings for this book is through a facepalm. And mind you, there are several different kinds of facepalms...

First of all, we have our regular, vanilla facepalm.

description

The, we move on to the next level: third-party facepalm.

description

Finally, when things get really bad we have the peek-a-boo facepalm.

description

But for this book, I'm going to choose the ultimate type of facepalm.

description

Because this book was downright awful. And I rarely say that about books. The characters? Shallow and not developed at all. The story? You know what they say, everything that shine ain't always gonna be gold. Yeah, well, someone got that right, cause even though the preview seemed amazing, the story was a huge disappointment. The plot? Practically non-existent. Twists? Yeah, because we had all the above, now you want twists as well. And finally, the sex? Same scene, different places. Same description, same movements, same words, same reactions, same everything!

description

People have to understand that just because they throw a few characters, some sex scenes and what they seem to belive is a plot together, that doesn't mean that the result will be a story...

I gave it 1 star because I had to mark is somehow. I wouldn't recommend it, not even for a quick-read... Very, very disappointing...

Okay so this book didn't have a high enough rating for me, but sense 5 stars is as high as I can get that is what she gets for this book. But just keep in mind that this book was WELL beyond a five star rating!

This is both a love story and story about finding who you are and your place in the world. The chemistry between the hero and the heroine is amazingly strong and you feel it. It is almost like you are being pulled toward Cole just as Ally is....(well HELL maybe I am just wishful thinking :P )

After reading Mrs. Hollowed's first book "Forever and Always" my hopes were set high for this book and she did not let me down. The story pulled you and carried you all the way through the book from start to finish. There was a certain part that I literally had a panic attack because the scene and feelings in the scene felt and seemed so damn real that it kind of over took me.

I absolutely love Cole!!! He can come rescue me at any point :P Ally is strong and independent. I love that in a heroine. She has her moments where she depends on Cole to pull her through, but those moments are well deserved and actually she handles it so much better than I would have.

"Wow yourself," she said confidently as she pressed her hand against his crotch. "I see you approve." ~Ally~

This was one of my favorite scenes....It was both funny and HOT!! I just loved it!

"Don't stick that tongue out," he growled breathlessly when he released her mouth from his and smiled. "Unless you're willing to share." ~Cole~

"...Teach me to be the man that you deserve because I love you, Ally." ~Cole~

I seriously wanted to crawl into the story and tell Ally to take a hike LOL. Cole is the total dream guy, but he is still a guy and feels that he has time to confess his secret but when time isn't on his side....

Well you will just have to read the book to find out. I cannot say enough about this author or this book. Seriously y'all need to watch out for Beverley Hollowed. She is freaking AMAZING!!!

Way to!! Bring on Book 2....LIKE NOW!!! :P

I was given the extreme honor of receiving an ARC of No Second Chances by Beverley Hollowed. From the get-go, this book will pull you in and have you wanting more. The talent of the writer weaves the words so elegantly that you can close your eyes and picture exactly what she is describing. The characters have real qualities that make them so relatable. Ally is the type of girl you want to be, beautiful, self-sufficient, sassy, quick witted, and a genuine nice girl. Cole is the epitome of everything you want from a fictional boyfriend: tall, dark, handsome, rich and extremely knowledgeable of how to treat a woman, both inside and outside of the bedroom. Ally and Cole’s instant attraction is believable and all consuming. The angst in this book is a situation that no one would want to be in, but Mrs. Hollowed, describes and executes it tastefully and beautifully. Once that cataclysmic event occurs, you cheer for the HEA, but them BAM! The twist comes out of nowhere. The characters and skillful storytelling will have you ignoring life around you and turning the pages. This book has it all: Sex, Secrets, and Doubt, but then again, isn’t that truly what makes a fantastic book just that? This author and this book is so deserving of my FIVE STARS. Beverley Hollowed will be a household name and completely deserves so much more. Put No Second Chances and Beverley Hollowed at the top of your TBR list. Everyone deserves a chance, but a second chance comes only to the truly worthy.

Another beautifully written book by the talented, Beverley Hollowed. After reading Forever and Always (one of my favorite books now) I was beyond excited to have the opportunity to read the ARC of No Second Chances.

Ally has a scarred past from her pathetic-excuse-of-a-father and her lowlife, cheating, scumbag of an ex-boyfriend. These 2 things combines leaves Ally with a broken heart and no faith or trust in the male-species. Being a female mechanic and having to be scoffed at and looked down on by male customers only adds fuel to her “no-more-men” fire. Ally becomes a very self-sufficient, independent, no-nonsense, mess-with-me-at-your-own-life’s-risk kind of gal that doesn’t need someone to coddler and look after her…sure, it would be nice, but she’s not interested in that life anymore.

Enter Cole…… tall, dark, rich, arrogant, self-assured, smokin’ hot, I-am-the-$h!t-and-I-know-it, walking sex god of a man. Ally immediately knows he’s trouble waiting to happen from the very first second their eyes meet, so she vows to keep her distance….only we all know that’s not going to happen, and THANK GOD it didn’t.

Cole Thomas may have made a less than stellar first impression on Ally, but after realizing what an idiot he was and that sweet Ally is not your typical gold-digging, needy woman, he does everything he can to make her realize he is sorry, for he cannot get her off of his mind and this is very unusual for said bachelor. Once he makes Ally see that he is truly sorry, he become the man every woman fantasizes about…the kind of man that knows how to win the heart, mind, body and soul inside and outside of the bedroom.

Ally is faced with some scary situations having to do with her ex, but Cole, being the man he is, sees her through everything in the best way he possibly can and helps Ally to realize that he truly does care for and love her, and maybe, just maybe, there is a chance at this “happily ever after” stuff she’s heard about. But deep down she still has this nagging feeling that Cole is too good to be true and is hiding something from her. Is her gut feeling right? Has this all just been yet another circumstance of life to build up her hopes and dreams only to have them ripped from her again………..???

I’m not telling  You’ll have to read the book to find out. But trust me, once you read it, you’ll be anxiously awaiting book #2!

HOLYHOTHOTELSEXBATMAN Ok we all knew from the teaser pics and quotes Cole was a shoe-in for any girls drool worthy list. I mean come on with all that dirty talking he had me from the moment she met him. Even with everything that happened, I was TEAM COLE all the way...still am.

Now lets move to Ally.....can I just say THANK THE GODS that she is a strong female that mostly stood her ground. I mean come on she had to give a lil, wouldn't you if you had Cole Bloody Thomas telling you that you were a goddess. YES YOU WOULD. I was finding myself giving this girl the ole Jersey Shore fist pump when she would lay into one of the men. This book took me on so many emotional roller coasters my head was spinning. Nothing better to me than some good sex with a good plot. So while I am over the moon with these characters im sad that I am waiting with bated breath for the second book to see how this love story turns out. Well played Beverly Hollowed, well played. If by some strange reason you read this....im hooked like any junkie would be. Guess its time to go buy her first book. Happy Reading.

Ally doesn't believe in second chances. After catching her boyfriend cheating on her, she met a man, Cole. At first she was completely attracted to him, but was not ready to get into another relationship. Cole kept pursuing. After she really started to fall in love with him, she finds out something pretty devastating from friends and the media.

Can't wait to see if Cole will continue to prove his love or if she will give him another chance.

What's with all the 5 star ratings?? Did I read a different book to everyone else??? I had such high hopes for this one but was severely let down...

So I'll start with the high's: Fabulous cover - really hot and sexy. The storyline seemed like it was a good one and the hero Cole was super hot and the sex between himself and Ally was 'amazing' (remember this word...),steamy and detailed - just the way I like it...but that's basically all the good I could come up with.

The poor grammar and spelling errors throughout this book were AWFUL! Didn't anyone edit this book?? It distracts the reader and detracts from the book and if the story ain't hitting the mark anyway then things like silly spelling mistakes and bad grammar become unforgivable...

The story started off great - it seemed like Ally was a hot, sassy mechanic chick who takes no shit particularly after a bad breakup with her cheating ex but after a couple of chapters she turns into this highly emotional, immature girl who seems to cry at the drop of a hat...her character was lost on me when she dialled Cole and continually hung up on him without speaking after only sleeping with him a couple of times....ummm can anyone say "crazy stalker"???? It was ludicrous and what the hell was with her constant tears????? Why did Cole find her so "amazing" (yeah, he repeatedly told her this) - the reader never glimpsed any of her so called amazingness so quite frankly him falling in love with her after about 2 minutes was totally unrealistic and sooooo cheesy! I just wasn't buying it...

Imagine my horror when after practically forcing myself to finish this book I'm met with a cliffhanger of an ending! Are you freaking kidding me right now??? I mean, was it really necessary to drag this story out over another book??? Will we have to endure more of Ally's tears? Self doubt? Low self esteem? And overall annoying character for another book whilst the hot guy Cole tells her how much he loves her practically in every sentence he breathes at her????? Sorry, I won't be reading it...

2 star rating for me and thats mostly for the cover...the story lacked originality and that oomph factor which makes a great book - good luck with the second book though.

This is my first book penned by Beverley Hollowed. This book has a solid plot and it is so steamy you will have to wipe off your kindle! It is a solid 4 star read!

I found it so refreshing that Ally is a strong independent woman. Yes, she has her demons but don’t we all. Her father left a whole in her heart by abandoning her and her mother at their weakest moment. Early on in the book Ally has her heart broken by Jason, her boyfriend of two years.

Cole Thomas will rank very high on your swoon worthy list! He is use to getting what he wants and women are no exception. Cole’s successful career has brought him to Dublin. He has the world at his finger tips and yet true love is the one thing missing from his life.

After a chance meeting Cole and Ally have an immediate attraction. One that Ally resist at every turn while Cole is persistent in his pursuit. Cole finds himself falling in love with Ally and does not have a hard time expressing himself. Ally on the other hand, takes her time with her profession but once she says the sweet words you can feel their happiness.

“I love you, too, Cole” Ally whispered back. “I promise I will never break your heart.” Cole’s smiled filled his beautiful face as he finally heard the words he had been longing to hear.

Like many couples Cole and Ally have uphill struggles to overcome. One being Ally’s ex-boyfriend, Jason and his resistance to let go of Ally. In addition, Cole harbors a secret (of course he does..) it is a secret that could tear them apart. Ally senses it early on and yet she lets it be. I have asked her about this in our interview. Will their love be enough to overcome these obstacles?

This book is a cliffhanger…. YES YES I know I have reviewed several cliffhangers lately. No Second Chances is a page turner and in the end you will be stalking Beverley Hollowed eagerly awaiting the second book in this series.

I liked Ally from the start! I don’t do second chances very often, I am too much of an open honest person to forgive and forget! So when Ally found her boyfriend of 2 years cheating on her and she said F U and moved on I loved it! That is what I would do!

Then she meets Cole and he is hot and sweet and rich. And UBER determined to get to know her and basically follows her around till she agrees to go out with him!

When they go on their first date she tells him the truth tells him everything open and honest! You can feel it there he has a secret that he should tell her and he doesn’t!

He ex is a complete psycho path! BLAH I don’t like him but he makes a good story line! Crazy bastard!

So when it gets to the point where Cole should tell her fails to AGAIN! Than BAM it happens and he leaves her to go take care of his secret and she finds out by everyone else but him!

How do you forgive when you don’t do second chances? Can you forgive? You have now had your heart shattered two times in such a short time can you ever truly forgive? I don’t know if I could or if I would dare to try!?!

But I don’t think Cole will ever take no for an answer when it comes to Ally?

Bev you did an amazing job and I am thankful to you and the lovely ladies who put this tour together!

This is the second book by Beverley I've read and it's becoming apparent that she looooooooves to tell an angsty, heartbreaking story with men who fall in love fast, hard and forever and girls who think they don't need saving but really do. This is not my kind of story usually, because a) (like I mentioned in my review of her first book, Forever and Always), I prefer my romance with a big, fat side of realism and Bev demands a swift and committed suspension of disbelief from page one. That said -- I know this going in, so I will review it for what it is: nuttin' but straight up fantastical romance. And what's reading for, if not to escape reality, right?

I loved this novel, so damn much. The thing I question is, is Cole really that stupid? How about a paternity test to validate the fact that it is his son for real? I mean shit is crazy! I would love to see Ally actually pregnant with his baby and have the drama from that. The end was SUPER emotional. I can't wait for the second one, dammit! I'm so stoked for the next.

4.5 STARS

Ally, is a woman scorned by every man who meant something to her in her life. Her father, and I use that term loosely, was a poor excuse for a man and didn't leave much hope for any men who came into Ally's life in the future. Then you have her boyfriend, ummm EX boyfriend, Jason. What a douchenozzle!!! Will I tell you what he did to deserve such a title? Nope, you have to read this book to find out! So with these two asshats wreaking havoc in her life, Ally believes all men suck! Ally is one tough chick, she's independent, self-sufficient and doesn't take crap from anyone. Did I mention she's a mechanic? No, well she is and she doesn't take too kindly to men who like to underestimate her ability just because she is a female. In fact, she'll just leave your sorry behind stranded.

Cole, my goodness, this man! WHOA!! Sex God was the perfect way to describe him! But yes, you guessed it, he doesn't rub Ally the right way during their first meeting. He's rich, arrogant, all "You're a woman and you want to fix my car?" Way to go, moron! You already had one strike against you because you were a man. Now you just earned strike two. And you just ooze trouble, so there's strike three. Ally was hellbent that she would NOT have anything to do with this man. Yeah, okay, and I would totally just behave myself if Channing Tatum decided he wanted to do this in front of me, so I believe you, it's all good!

Hey, I have a review here, wanna stop drooling over my man now please? Oh hell, how am I even going to move on with that up there?

Back to what I was saying! Face it, we all know that's NOT happening!!! Sure, Cole immediately struck out, but Ally decides to go against her no second chances rule and BAM!! This happens...

And more of this...

And LOTS more of this...

There's no denying their chemistry is SMOKIN' at all!!! But Cole, oh Cole, he is so sweet that my heart just melted at times! He is every girls fantasy! Lover, provider and protector. He was so willing to put his feelings out there that Ally would have been nuts if she didn't give him a second chance. Cole made me do this so many times...

Of course life can't stay a big ball of sunshine for these two for long. Ally will soon face some pretty terrifying situations and some that had me doing this...

Cole was exactly what Ally needed. He did everything in his power to prove to Ally just how much he cared for her and how far he was willing to go to help her. Something wasn't sitting right with Ally and she feels that if it's too good to be true, then it probably isn't. Should she go with her gut? Is her heart about to be shattered again? Or will she finally have her happily ever after? I can't tell you!!

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and I highly recommend this book!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DOUBLE REVIEW~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Laura’s 5* Review
WOW! What can I say! Beverley Hollowed has done it again and written another fabulous book that I would recommend anyone to read!
Mechanic, Ally Brody, is left reeling after she catches her boyfriend of two years with another woman. She is determined never to be hurt like that again and decides no second chances. After pulling over and helping with a car breakdown, she comes face to face with the extremely gorgeous and very sexy Cole Thomas.
Cole is everything Ally said she would never again look for in a man but Cole wants Ally and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. After slowly beginning to gain her trust, he takes her on a wild & intense sexual journey that Ally will never forget.
But can their happiness survive with Ally’s psychotic ex-boyfriend hanging around and a huge secret that Cole is carrying which could threaten their future together forever. Will Ally cave in and break her own rule and give Cole a second chance?
This book is again beautifully written and with the books of Beverley’s that I’ve read, I’ve always been able to really feel the story and absorbed myself in the book. I so cannot wait for the 2nd part in the Cole Thomas story and hope that Cole & Ally get the happiness their deserve
Nicola’s 5* review
Ohh Beverley hollowed has written a book about me! Ok so she had to change my name but still……..
Female mechanic – (engineer) so almost, check.
Arsey male customers that can’t get their head around a female knowing more about their car than them – smug check
Physco ex boyfriend that can’t accept that he’s a total dick and needs to do one – haven’t we all had one of these? So definitely check
Ok so this is where we kinda go off track……
Daddy issues – nope not me
Hot, sexy, British guy that can’t leave me alone – unfortunately not and I don’t live in Dublin (but I could move!)
Ok, so I confess it’s not really about me but about Tom boy mechanic Ally Brody who has had it with high flying, selfish, controlling men! She wants nothing more to do with them….ever! That is until she crosses the path of Cole Thomas, hot, rich and sexy business man who’s car has broken down. Ally falls soft, even after she gets the “YOU’RE going to fix my car!?” Remark (strike one) and helps him out.
With Ally’s good deed of the day done she’s on her way, hoping never to see hot, sexy and totally arsey Cole again…….. How wrong could she be!
Cole being the stubborn kind of guy that he is, has his mind set on Ally and will stop at nothing to make her his. After finally getting Ally to let him in they are on the path to a whirlwind romance but something is holding Cole back. Could this secret make or break them and is their relationship strong enough to survive this? You will have to read it to find out *evil laugh*
Bev, Bev, Bev…… I’m not sure if I should be thanking you for my new book boyfriend or hate you for having to wait for book 2!!
This book was fabulous and I will recommend it to all my book boyfriend addicts. It makes a change to have a strong female character who doesn’t break down every five seconds. The relationship between Ally and Cole is very believable with their ups and downs. As for the bedroom scenes *blush* Bev I’m shocked After finishing No Second Chances I emailed Bev and begged her not to break my heart, lets just hope that she doesn’t with book 2!
3.5 Stars!
I quite liked this book. it's hard not to when you have a gorgeous, rich british male who loves strongly and takes place in one of my favorite cities in the world...Dublin.
I loved that Ally was a strong female lead but I wanted to throddle her with her obtuse stubbornness. OMG I know you have been hurt and have daddy issues but did she have to take it to such an extreme. I think not but hey there not my issues so what do I know.
Now let's talk about Jason what an unhinged douchebag thank goodness she kicked his ass to the curb because then she wouldn't have met Cole. Hmmmm yummy Cole but with an unfortunate secret that changes everything.
I loved the chemistry right away between Ally and Cole. You felt the pull between them and knew it could not be denied. Love has a way of sneaking up on us when we least expect it but damnit ally and her stubbornness now we are left with another friggin' cliffhanger. I think authors might get pure pleasure of torturing the readers with those and then making us wait. Cruel, Cruel , Cruel.
Having said that I am completely hooked and can not wait to find out if Ally can get her head out of her ass and see that letting people in is ok and not everyone is like her father and Jason. I am soooo Team Cole.
There may have been some grammar errors but I was still able to get lost in the story.
"I'm thinking about how soft and sweet your beautiful lips would feel against mine. Don't you wonder what it would be like to kiss me?"
What a HELL of a way to make a first impression on me Beverley Hollowed! No Second Chances was a heart pounding, soul searching, thrill ride all the way through.
I loved the female lead in this story - Ally Brody. This straightforward, intolerant female mechanic has a chip on her shoulder when it comes to the opposite sex. She witnessed her boyfriend cheating on her with his assistant! Now isn't that just typical. It's enough to make a girl swear off men for a long, long time....until she meets Cole Thomas. Cole has an immediate attraction to Ally. He wants her, and Cole Thomas is a man that usually gets what he wants, but can he break down enough walls to let him in to her heart?
Let's just say Cole Thomas....SEX ON A STICK! Seriously! What is not to love?! Rich - Check, British Accent - Check, Protective - Check, Worships the ground Ally walks on - Check! PERFECT book boyfriend material, for sure. This story had some of the hottest sex scenes that I have EVER read! The sexual tension and the chemistry between these two were off the charts!
Cole didn't make the very best first impression on Ally that's for sure.
"You can freeze your sexist ass of in your stupid posh car for all I care."
So, he already had his work cut out for him. Add on the way she was treated in the past my her ex and her father, well let's just say you have a tough road ahead of you trying to break down those cement walls around her heart. After spending time together, Ally starts to realize that this man might actually love her. She had NO confidence in herself when she was with Jason, but Cole makes her feel sexy and beautiful and her confidence grew more and more every second she was with him.
"I am scared too Cole," Ally whispered softly against his mouth. "Please don't break my heart."
Needless to say, by the end of the book, I was throwing things, I was cursing out loud! You don't know how many times I said out loud, "SON OF A BITCH!" and "SERIOUSLY?!" Have you ever gotten so involved in the story that you are yelling at your iPad/Kindle/Nook, just like you would yell at your TV when you know someone was just acting plain stupid?! Yeah...It's like that! I was an emotional train wreck the whole time. I was captivated from beginning to end. Well done my friend! Bring on Book 2! No seriously....right away please! *winks*
This story is about a girl who gets her heart stomped on by the most important men in her life. It makes her into an independent and, often, stubborn woman. She's a car mechanic, who has built up a pretty good rep and client base. She meets Cole, broken down on the side of the road. Typical guy, doesn't think a girl can fix his problem but she obviously gets his motor running...bwahahaha, see what I did there? Ok, moving on...
I wanted to give this book more stars because I like the basic storyline. However, there are a LOT of grammatical issues like wrong tense, wrong words, extra words, missing words and so forth. If the author had a proof reader they should be fired. Usually, I can look beyond these kinds of things but in this book it was really disruptive.
I also didn't like the wishy washy characters.
Ally really irks me. She acts like a whiny brat most of the time. She is constantly complaining that Cole won't trust her to know what's best for herself; she can take care of herself. Yet she continually makes stupid decisions and gets into sticky and dangerous situations.
Cole starts off like an alpha male but three days in and he's all Furthermore, who heck decides
Cole's secret was kind of predictable early on but I'll give the author a point for making the who, how and when, a little bit different.
I will also give her two points for the ex boyfriend
I'm interested enough to read the next book though...so off I go to do just that...
I received a free copy from the author for my honest review, so here it is. This is a great story. We meet Ally, whose ex-boyfriend was caught literally with his pants down with his assistant. And three weeks later Jason (the ex) is still trying to get her back. On her way to Nan's one evening she spots a vehicle broken down. The driver is drop dead gorgeous and laughs when she offers to help him. He doesn't know she is a mechanic and Ally has heard it all about female mechanics. After she fixes his vehicle, he wants to pay her but she tells him to think of it as an early Christmas present. She leaves him standing on the side of the road as she pulls away thinking she will never see him again. But guess who shows up at her work the next day, yep Cole and he is still drop dead gorgeous. She tries to fight the feelings she feels towards him but he knows what she is feeling because he feels it too. The finally get together and Jason is still calling a texting and being a royal pain. Will Jason learn that it is over? Can Ally and Cole last? What happens will blow your mind. You will feel Ally's pain and heartache, Cole's heartache and loss. There are some grammar errors and typos that will sometimes drive you crazy, but keep reading, I know you will enjoy the story-line. This is the first book for me by Beverley Hollowed and I will be enjoying How Many Chances next to see what happens with Ally and Cole. looking forward to reading more from Beverley!
I read this book in one sitting, I enjoyed the storyline.
I thought Ally and Cole were great, they had me sitting with the hugest grin slapped over my face. Then I had a lump in my throat, and also a huge lump in my chest!
A chance meeting after a Cole's car breaks down, is where we basically meet them both, at that point I Ally was a no nonsense girl, constantly having had to prove herself as a mechanic.
So Ally finds her ex cheating, and dumps him, and so begins the mind screwing from him, who wants her back. But the alpha male that is Cole, starts to fall in love with her. But not without a big secret of his own, we also learn about Ally's secrets too. We have to watch her slowly crumble, and each time Cole rescues her.
It all culminates in a horrible night where Ally gets attacked by her ex. Eventually she is left devastated, and distraught, then Cole comes back from a trip, with even more heart breaking news for her. I was quite shocked with the ending, and so felt sorry for Ally.
