“Happy Hanging!” Saralkar growled with all the spite in his system and stormed out of the cell.
Weeks before serial killer Dharmesh Solanki is to be executed, he wickedly burdens Senior Inspector Saralkar with a macabre secret Saralkar would’ve been better off not knowing.
Impelled to verify Solanki’s disturbing claim, Saralkar and PSI Motkar reopen the sixteen-year-old case, for which the senior inspector had won a police medal. And out tumble intriguing leads and shocking facts, that had fallen through the cracks back then.
Worse, only a motley group of elusive characters might form the shaky bridge to the murky truth—a missing ex-constable, a gluttonous witness who had narrowly escaped being murdered by Solanki, Solanki’s biographer, the serial killer’s own son, and the daughter of one of his victims.
Meanwhile another dangerous murderer is busy prowling around for victims to notch up an impressive body count. In the midst of these crazy events, Saralkar’s marriage faces rough weather, while Motkar’s hands are full, investigating a trail of mysterious suicides.
As the duo struggle to cope, personal tragedy strikes Saralkar and a tip-off propels Motkar into confronting an astonishingly diabolical psychopath on his own.
Will Motkar prove up to the challenge? Will Saralkar recover his mojo in time? And will Saralkar and Motkar ever make sense of the complicated chain of murders and suicides and the dark secret of a despicable serial killer sentenced to death?

Senior Inspector Saralkar had caught one of the most infamous Serial Killers in the history of India long-long ago. Now, finally, that killer Dharmesh Solanki is going to be hanged. But before that, he wants to meet Saralkar. Despite misgivings, Saralkar is ordered to meet Solanki. In that meeting Solanki throws a nasty surprise at Saralkar. He had a protege! That person is alive, well, and killing! Is he bluffing? Higher ups think so. But Saralkar can't let sleeping dogs, or buried corpses lie. He, ably assisted by PSI Motkar, embarks on a mission to catch that protege. But would they succeed, especially before more lives are lost? Unputdownable story. Absolutely cracking style. Human drama and nuances were accorded due importance. Psyche of serial killers were analysed and broken down into meaningful components. Most importantly, amidst all the blood and cynicism, hatred and fear, the book never lost the focus as it stayed fixed on the value of life. One of the best of the series, if not the absolute best. Highly recommended.
I actually met the author and the conversation intrigued me enough to pick up the book, despite the fact that I was about to move to a different city. A murder mystery wouldn't be my usual choice of a travel-companion but in this book, the setting of Pune city has been fleshed out so well that I got my fair dose of nostalgia too. Because of the pandemic and all the uncertainties and anxieties that it generated, I have become an avid watcher of crime shows; they are perfect because you know that at the end of every episode, the bad guy will be caught and all will be well in the world again. But after watching more than 24*22*50=26,400 minutes of content, some things do start getting repetitive and some patterns do start getting predictable. But the plot in Murder milestone was really fresh! Plus, the very Indian, even Pune-perspective of crime and detectives and village-folk was a welcome change. I got intrigued around 50-odd pages into the book and genuinely did not see the twists coming.
For me, even if it's a murder mystery, the characters and the chemistry between them matters a lot and i think the author has done justice to Saralkar, as a quintessential boomer cop, gruff on the outside, struggling to act on his soft inside.
And the added highlight is the in-depth, fascinating trivia about various criminal and legal processes, right from what happens when someone is going to get hanged to how the police department functions.
Overall, if you're looking for a fresh, well written, internally consistent murder mystery, do try this one.
This is yet again a brilliant story by the author where he presses Senior Inspector Saralkar to start investigating the murders despite having arrested the culprit who was sentenced to death. Dharmesh Solanki, the serial killer confesses to him saying that he has not killed all but one particular murder was done by his protégé. Saralkar was married to Jyoti and their personal life was in a turmoil. He takes the help of Motkar - PSI, Homicide and starts the investigation. Though they did not get proper assistance from Malusare – PSI, in the beginning, things start falling in place. On the other hand, Uddhav Dandekar - confesses of killing women including Mona Parab. He was let go free as he was considered a lunatic. However, it was later found that Mona Parab was killed by Vinay Sawant, her cousin since she refused to get married to him.
Solanki at the time of narrating his duel with Saralkar gives two clues. What are these clues and what does it lead to? Why would a person who was an Ayurvedic doctor in a small village - about 25kms from Wai town start killing the unsuspecting people? How did he kill the victims? His explanation of executing Bajrang through his protégé would send chills to your spine.
Dhananjay Solanki - son of Dharmesh Solanki also comes under the scanner of the cops. He gets his name changed to Digvijay Walke. Why did he do that?
Ved Mathur co-authors the autobiography of Solanki. He gives some vital information to Saralkar when being interviewed after the revelation by Solanki. Baban gives some vital information about the suspect. Then there was a suicide of Sriram & his Son Atul. People who had suicidal intentions called ChooseLife & got counselled by Satyajit. He too comes under the scanner of cops.
I liked the way things were narrated which ensured that it wasn’t boring at any given point of time. Instead, it evokes interest. This, according to me is one of the advantages of this amazing plot. Writing a crime thriller isn’t an easy job as lot of things needs to be connected with each other without leaving any loose ends. When it is done with perfection, it brings in a delight among the readers, naturally.
While Inspector Saralkar himself was going through a personal turmoil with his better half, will he be able to crack the case?
P.S. The twist in the story is certainly worth the read because the killer is not the person you believed to be the one...
On the surface a thriller, but does it pack a serious punch or what! At times, a psychological study of evil, a matter-of-fact exploration of human perversity, at times a philosophical treatment of the banality of crime and depravity in modern India, it fires on all cylinders. Even manages to be a relationship drama for a while! Morbid humour and etched with 'real' people. The best one yet by Salil Desai.
I start with the disclaimer that I am a Salil Desai fan. His plots are always well researched, and the writing style is on par with international standards. Particularly interesting among the various characters that he has created in Inspector Saralkar.
This story starts on a fascinating note. Inspector Saralkar had won a Police medal for arresting a serial killer who was soon going to be hanged to death. Before his hanging, the killer calls Saralkar to reveal that he has a protege who helped him in some murders. The protégé committed one of the murders attributed to him. He also informs that his protégé is still on a killing spree and will not stop until he reaches his murder milestone and creates a record of being the most prolific serial killer in history. Who is his protégé? Will Inspector Saralkar be able to find him and stop the killing of innocent people? If you love crime thriller books, you should read all of Salil Desai's book in addition to this one. They are all excellent and highly recommended.
Great storyline.... Just not completely satisfied with the ending. Could have been a little more interesting. The ending was just like his book 3 and a Half Murders as if written just to complete the book somehow. Otherwise a good piece of writing by Salil Desai.
Dharmesh Solanki, a murderer is going to be hanged soon. However, there is something which he wants to tell Inspector Saralkar few weeks before he is to be hanged. ‘What is it, and why does he choose to reveal that now, when he is so close to death?’ Is one of the questions the story builds. 16 year old case is re-opened, this time no stone can be left unturned to find out what Dharmesh Solanki had revealed to Saralkar.
Meanwhile, strange killings are happening. And a murderer is on a loose whose very existence is questionable. Who is it ? Is he Dharmesh Solanki’s son ? Or is he son of one of the victims of Dharmesh? And why has he not been caught up in the investigation knot since 16 years ? This story has every ingredient to make it a fast paced thriller you just want to delve.
There being so many thrillers out there in the entertainment platforms, like Crime Patrol, CID, Dexter, Fauda etc, any reader/ Netflix addict would wonder what different would a crime thriller book like this has to offer and also how unpredictable would it be. Even I had the same curiosity, and to my surprise, there are so many elements in this book that saves itself from being just another crime Patrol Episode. And one of the standing out element, is its amazing narration. The tone which writer sets, dark where it needs to be and also light hearted fun where it needs to be, the blend is perfect.
I could feel the tension in the air when Inspector Saralkar and Dharmesh Solanki meet. Or when Saralkar and PSI Motkar meet Baba Shigvan, the whole scene feels something fresh which I hadn’t read before, thanks to the rare disease Baba Shigvan has(Interestingly, I googled it to know more about it.)
The best thing about this book is how each character, no matter how small or big part he/she plays, has been backed up by a strong backstory. Characters don’t just emerge randomly, they come with a back story, which as a reader emotionally connected me with their journey. Also their dialogues and descriptions entertained me completely. This book has many characters and yet their description is such that you don’t feel confused, they all make an impact on you through their behaviours.
Saralkar’s and Jyoti’s off chemistry is described very well in the book. Their dialogues somehow convinced me that they do love each other, but are quite incompatible as far as opinions are concerned. Another chemistry to talk about is of PSI Motkar and Inspector Saralkar. Motkar is smart, but respects his senior. Their conversations seem natural, funny at times and convincing.
Every chapter answers some questions and raises some more to be solved further. The constant need of the reader to know what’s going to happen is what makes the narrative so interesting, all the credit to the author.
Now coming to the highlight of this book. I think success of every crime mystery depends majorly on how unpredictable it’s climax is. While reading the book initially, I thought this book might turn out to be predictable as I was taking my guesses about who the culprit is. But towards the end, when I read the climax, I was astonished! It made me ponder about the whole plot again and just marvel at how well thought this story is.
The LazyScoop Verdict:
The Murder Milestone by Salil Desai is one of the best thrillers you could read. It’s filled with authentic crime investigation masala as well as a climax which would make you shocked. It would be no surprise if a series or movie is made with this story, since it definitely feels as if you’re watching one. After having read 3 and a half murder and The Sane Psychopath I am convinced that Salil Desai is India’s answer to Sidney Sheldon.
The book starts with the news of ‘Dharmesh Solanki’s mercy plea rejected.’ Dharmesh Solanki is an infamous serial killer who has murdered approximately eight people. It was inspector Salarkar who has arrested him and collected the proof so that he can never run-away from justice.
Inspector Saralkar was happy that finally, he is going to pay for his karma. He considered Dharmesh as a psychopath, however, he became startled when Dharmesh requested authorities to allow him to talk to Saralkar.
He confronted in front of Saralkar that he has not killed all the victims as he has a prodigy and he was the one who has killed the last victim. His prodigy is still out killing people.
After weighing his statement, Inspector Saralkar and his assistant PSI Motker decided to re-investigate Dharmesh Solanki’s sixteen years old case. However, after so many years, it was very hard to find any clue, still, both the inspectors tried their best to get a breakthrough.
Upon investigation, they also found that a constable is suspiciously missing, and one person was escaped from the clutches of Solanki.
Solanki also has a son, and one of the victim’s daughter writes Solanki in jail.
In between, the readers get a glimpse of Dr. Dharmesh Solanki’s life and how he has murdered his victims.
While on the other hand, Dharmesh’s prodigy is on a killing spree and he wants to achieve, a murder milestone.
In between, readers also get to know about the personal turmoil happening in the life of Inspector Saralkar. With so many ups and downs and having a zero clue about this old case, will Inspector Saralkar and Motker able to find Dharmesh’s prodigy? Who is he? And why Dharmesh decided to reveal his prodigy?
Read this fast-paced and interesting story.
Writing style:
The author always maintains a perfect narration, using local words and creating a backdrop. The book is divided into different chapters making it easy to read.
My perception:
This book has a unique concept, and I was engrossed in the investigation procedure. It seems like watching a film. I am eagerly waiting to see the Saralkar mystery into a web series. Like the other books of Salil Desai, this book is also situated in Pune. All the characters in the book are interesting and help to develop the story.
Though I was not able to guess the killer, I still think that the mystery could have been much deeper. Some of the parts in the book seems to inspire by the Series, ‘Dexter’. Still, this book shows the disturbing side of human minds.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and if you love crime-thriller and murder mysteries then you should pick Salil Desai’s books, they are very good.
The fourth outing in the Inspector Saralkar Mystery Series, Murder Milestone is Salil Desai's most ambitious novel to date. This was different from the previous books in the series, in so far as Inspector Saralkar and PSI Motkar find themselves investigating a cold case of sixteen years. This is the first time Saralkar and Motkar have tackled a cold case, and I liked that aspect of the mystery.
A death-sentenced serial killer Dharmesh Solanki, who's about to be hanged in a few days, asks for a meeting with senior inspector Saralkar. During the meeting with Saralkar, Dharmesh reveals a horrifying secret which may destroy innocent lives if not stopped. Entwined with the case are the ongoing developments in Saralkar's personal life as he struggles with family matters. This added to the complexity of the story. When the tangled relationships and motives were explained, everything made sense in a believable manner, proving how well the plots were planned and executed.
Salil Desai expertly layered this plot and leads the reader on a merry trail of discovery and unearthing all kinds of information that are just one piece of a very big puzzle. True to form, Salil Desai also presents us with a whole host of vividly portrayed suspects and persons of interest in the case, from a missing ex-constable, a greedy witness, Dharmesh Solanki’s biographer and his own son, and the daughter of one of his victims. There are an array of colorful interrogation with all these characters, with red herrings and clues dispersed throughout.
As always, it is not just the central mystery, but also the central characters, who really make the book and it was a pleasure to catch up with Saralkar and Motkar once more. I was pleased to find some development in their characters and relationship too. Once again Salil Desai has delivered on all counts – Murder Milestone was intricate, carefully-plotted, addictive, and a pleasure to read from start to finish.

A very good book. The plot is so rich and intricate. Yet, it strides quickly. Incredible setting and an excellent narrative. Compelling and brilliant, full of sinister suspense, truly a masterpiece that leaves you tensed and terrified right until the end.
The central narrative revolves around a psychopath serial killer, Dharmesh Solanki, who has confessed about his past vicious acts to the senior inspector Sarkar. By taking help from PSI Motkal, Saralkar has agreed on to dive into sixteen-year-old cases for which he won a police medal.
The plot is thick with conflict and grabs the reader tightly, not letting go until the book is finished. This layered story provides a room to scrutinize the introspection of a psychopath and gives us an adequate understanding of human psychology.
The writing is exquisite. Packed with twists and turns. Every chapter though small throws up a new twist and as you get near the end of the chapter you are holding your breath. The characters were neatly evolved and the storyline was quite focussed on the plot. A great weekend read to relax oneself from the routine chores. The plot, familiarity of location, the characters all are meticulously crafted with a slow start that eventually becomes fast-paced as the story picks up making for an enthralling read. Twist in the end makes it all the more intrigued. Lucid language makes it more appealing. Looking forward to more books from Salil Desai.
If you like puzzle mysteries, or shadowing the investigator as he works how who the murderer was and why it happened, you'll like this story as well.
A good mystery novel from an Indian author that sets itself properly. Details are good enough to immerse in.
🌙"Murder milestone" is another outstanding work by Author Salil Desai. It's not the first book I am reading of him, The number of times I read his writing I fall in love with it. Desai is outdoing himself each and every day. Recently I have picked this Thriller and yes I haven't regretted it.
🌙BLURB WITHOUT SPOILERS: The complete story revolves around a psychopath serial killer, Dharmesh Solanki, who confessed and revealed to senior inspector Saralkar, some disturbing and hidden secret from past murder cases. By taking help from PSI Motkal, Saralkar has decided to dive into sixteen-year-old cases for which he won a police medal. There are numerous mysteries to be solved! Multiple questions to be answered! Grab the book and be a part of this journey.
🌙Trust me, the easy, straight, and simple it looks like, it's exactly the opposite. Numerous unexpected turns and twists have welcomed me while reading. And I became a kind of a fan of Desai's writing style. It's so perfect yet very fast-paced. There is no unnecessary dragging and everything was to the point. Narrations and storylines are very engaging and interesting as well. After Agatha christie, maybe the best crime thriller I have read in 2020.
🌙The cover looks like a crime thriller and that's right. The title has a smooth connection with the plot. The ending was completely unexpected and unpredictable which is genuinely impressive. Character development was noticeable. And I love how they are introduced. It's a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 thriller in 2020 this month and I will highly recommend this book from my end.
A serial killer Dr.Solanki convicted for 8 murders is given capital punishment by the state and is about to be executed in a few days wherein he makes a last wish to meet the officer who brought him to this fate. Inspector Saralkar, aware of Solanki's notoriety, is not happy with the prospect but has to give in due to higher authorities pressure. On their meeting Solanki successfully convinces Saralkar that he did not perform murder of one of his victim and it was done by his protégé that has no mention or hint in the investigations. Although Saralkar is sure catching the person mentored by Solanki wouldn't stop his hanging but the new clues and revelations festered by Solanki is too strong to let go. Hence the Inspector along with his subordinate jump back and reopen the 16 year old case along with a 3yr old missing person case of one of their own.
As the story proceeds shocking new facts that were overlooked previously come into limelight and more dead bodies are found with similar modish operandi. The killer aka shishya on the other hand is roaming freely making his murderous milestone.
The execution of the story and the introduction of each character is well thought for. None of the plots are dragged or unnecessary scenarios added to disturb your thrill as you walk page by page with the homicide detectives. The lives of Indian policemen and the criminal psychology especially in the cases of homicide and serial killing is briefly yet aptly narrated.
Recommended for all those who love cop or detective stories.
This is the fourth book of the Saralkar and Motkar adventures, and I cannot wait for Number 5.
Saralkar's old nemesis, Solanki, is introduced in this one to torment him further. Nabbed years ago for serial killing, Solanki drops a bomb on Saralkar throwing him back into his 16 year old case. Various characters complete the puzzle, with one sinister serial killer added to the mix. Through the story Saralkar is faced with personal tragedy, which bought about an entirely new dimension to his persona. This was fascinating character development. This is a straightforward investigation, put together with pieces of evidence completing the larger picture, there is no big reveal at the end, however, there are plenty of twists & turns.
While this is a thriller, it also teeters on the edge of a psychological case study on the depravity of the human mind. Certain mini chapters also play the role of a drama, which really humanises Saralkar, bringing about a more compassionate side to the otherwise rough & tough cop.
Desai uses the setting of each event to perfection, immersing the reader in such depth that one would feel they were visually experiencing the events. Moreover, there are several mini recollections of murders committed that are intricately woven into the narration, that keeps the reader wanting more.
This one was written very well, and the plot twists were placed to perfection, however, the climax and reveal could have been something with a little more dynamism. I look forward to meeting Saralkar & Motkar in the fifth.
Another Indian author, another thriller to beguile readers into believing they know who did it, only to find out through shocking plot twists that we didn't, in fact, know who did it.
This is my second Salil Desai thriller. I was first introduced to a Salil Desai book last year, and having had a decent read, I was tempted to pick this book up at a bookstore in Bombay. It starts off slow, but around 60 or so pages into it, I found myself reluctant to focus on anything but getting to the bottom of the mystery. Roughly, the book covers themes such as narcissism, psychopathy, the idiosyncracies of the Indian police force, and how every human being has the potential to be twisted and evil, but that it's only one thing that distinguishes a good person from a bad one - humanity and the willingness to be a part of civil society and adhere to laws.
Murder Milestone is set primarily in Pune, India, and relies heavily on Marathi references, which helped me understand the socio-political structure of Maharashtra better. What struck me is how well researched the book and all the facts stated in it to enrich the central storyline were. Very accurate.
A gripping read, although I would have very much liked to be indoors reading this on a dark rainy day with steaming hot noodles instead of a sultry Delhi spring day with the sun shining brightly outside. Just for added effect, if you know what I mean :)
I'd give this an 8.5/10. A solid start to my 2024 reading list!
The story caught my attention right from the beginning and I must say, the plot was really catchy. The pace of the book is fairly fast, just like a good thriller, and kept me on the edge of my seat with each page I turned. I was really thrilled by the concept of a killer revealing information about his disciple just a day before he's about to be hanged to death. The characters have also been written well with a commendable depth to them which took the story up a notch. . The author has infused into the book some really deep insights into murders, killings, serial killers, what goes on in a killer's mind and what thoughts does the police have while they're chasing them. It all gave a different kind of seriousness and dark touch to the story and added weight to what the story was about to unveil, and at the same time showed how the author is thorough with the content. As the plot unravelled, there were points when I felt the story getting towards a predictable climax but I'm happy that the book surprised me.
Murder Milestone: An Inspector Saralkar Mystery by Salil Desai is an impeccable book! The storyline of this amazing book is really very intriguing and I'm fond of this book. The language used is lucid and the book is fast paced. It is perfect from all the aspects and I really loved the writing style of the author. The story mainly revolves around a serial killer, who committed so many crimes. Just a few days before he was going to be hung, he reveals so many hidden secrets of the crimes he did in past. Inspector Saralkar opened the file of the sixteen years old case for which he got awarded. There are so many twists and turns in the story to keep the reader hooked. To know how Inspector Saralkar would tackle this, you should definitely read this mesmirizing book! Overall, it's a very nice book which didn't let me down throughout. It is recommended to all the mystery lovers out there. I'm damn sure that this book won't disappoint you. I look forward to read more books by the author!
🌸 #book review🌸 Author: salil Desai Pages: 319 Genre: murder mystery, Format: paperback 🔸 Inspector Saralkar had won a Police medal for arresting dharmesh solanki. Dharmesh solanki, a serial killer who had committed 8 murders and for that he was arrested by saralkar and he is soon going to be hang to death.
While hanging date was coming nearer, Dharmesh solanki calls saralkar to Reveals The Secret he was holding for 16+ years simultaneously reopening the 16 year old case.
Dharmesh solanki reveals that he had committed only 7 murders and remaining one was committed by his protégé. He also informs that his protégé will not stop until he reaches his milestone where no murderer had reached till now.
Who is his protégé? Will Inspector Saralkar be able to find him out?
The writing style of the author is simple yet griping. The twists and turns were unpredictable. Other than being just a murder mystery, the author also explore the personal life of a Inspector.
Over all, I enjoyed reading this book and will highly recommend. 🔹 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
A crime thriller by one of the best in this genre. Continuing in the senior inspector Saralkar and inspector Motkar series this book starts with serial killer Solanki confessing to Saralkar in his last meeting before he is to be hanged that he had not committed one of the 8 murders he was convicted of but had trained a protege who will continue the killings after Solanki was hanged. Thus begins the search for the protege with detailed relook at the investigation record. The author has done meticulous research into police procedures and the past serial killers and their methods. Yet another serial killer of a different type, working in a suicidal call helpline surfaces and Motkar investigates the deaths by suicides. The story is based in and around Pune. Saralkar is a lovable character with superb skills. His work versus family life makes for interesting reading. The book fumbles a bit towards the end but overall a good reading experience.
We always have the impression on doctors that they save lives not take them. There was no definite reason stated for Solanki to take lives. Usually people get influenced by some tragic events in their childhood or even the surroundings where they grow up will have a long lasting impact as was the case with Protege. But in case of Solanki, there was no such strong reason except driven psychologically..the story lacks twists and whatever was induced deliberately was unnecessary.. also the trap to nab the actual killer could have been dealth with more passion and interesting. The theory was put across by Saralkar earlier also but was rejected only to be accepted at a later stage was dragged. Overall a good read but could have been far better.
I love murder mysteries, well, basically mysteries. Because it gets my senses piqued, my heart thumping and I'm all jumpy. Sounds too much but it's so fun. So I read Salil Desai's Murder Milestone and wow ! A death row convict Dharmesh Solanki, just before a week from his execution reveals an unbelievable secret to senior police officer Saralkar. And from here begins the quest to verify Solanki's disturbing claim. That's not it. Mysterious suicides, another dangerous murderer on loose and Saralkar's personal life falling apart. With so much on his plate, Saralkar tackling each problem was a treat to read. The serial killer was cold to the core and a psychopath. Sometimes reading stories like this makes me wonder the extent to which we humans are mysterious. Nobody real knows what's going on in someone's mind. Anyways, this book was fast paced, engrossing and satisfying !
Salil Desai cleverly weaves multiple murder anecdotes into the main story with this book. He leads the reader, whom he holds by a leash, with a series of well positioned clues. The reader finally arrives at the climax salivating, only to find it spooky but needing a little more oomph. Let’s just say, the bark of Murder Milestone appeared to be worse than its bite. Nevertheless, it was an entertainingly macabre read.
Also, it’s hard to say why ALL the contributing characters in this story are men, except two women. A third woman is handed a terrible event for absolutely no reason. Perhaps Desai was just trying to tick the mandatory box labelled women. Goes to show that Salil Desai is just like many, many South Asian men who only see women as ornaments that just don’t deserve to contribute to the plot.
Murder Milestone is the fourth book of the much-acclaimed Inspector Saralkar Mystery Series by Salil Desai. The book, like his other books, has a great (and believable) plot with unexpected twists and turns. Just when you think you're getting close to unveil the killer's identity, the author throws a curve ball which you absolutely did not see coming. The SI Saralkar & PSI Motkar duo is much like Daya & Abhijit from the very famous CID Show. The story also sheds light on the marital struggles faced by the police officers at their homes. All in all, this is a mind blowing murder mystery cum crime thriller which you'll be unable to put down. A real page turner. I especially loved how PSI Motkar no longer acted under SI Saralkar but headed and solved the case a true hero. Can't wait to more of the author's work.
As usual, Salil Desai has come up with a nail-biting murder mystery with some unexpected twists and turns. The vivid description of various scenarios and great attention to detail makes it easier for the readers to comprehend things. The fast pace of the story combined with the interesting way in which it is narrated to eliminate even a single instance of making the readers feel bored, further makes for an interesting read. The best aspect of the book is that every aspect is carefully connected while maintaining the suspense and the thrill. I loved the book and hope for its phenomenal success
Murder Milestone by Salil Desai is a suspenseful crime thriller where the story of Inspector Saralkar unfolds while he investigates a series of murders connected to significant locations in Mumbai. The plot is cleverly constructed with enough twists and turns to keep readers engaged throughout. Saralkar is a strong, relatable protagonist, and the city's atmosphere adds depth to the story. While the pacing is mostly good, some sections feel drawn out, and the conclusion, though satisfying, could have been more impactful. Despite a few clichés and underdeveloped supporting characters, Murder Milestone is an enjoyable, well-paced mystery for fans of crime thrillers.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The way Saralkar took Ved Mathur into his stride was remarkable as atfirst Ved Mathur looked too haughty to handle. The conversation between Dr. Solanki and Saralkar was a reader's delight as both were master of repartee. Every tiny details of things as well as moods is well described so while reading a vivid description of the same flashes in our mind. Plotting is seriously brilliant. On a weekend grab this book and spend some good time with Inspector Saralkar.
I am enjoying this series immensely, though it deals with crime. I have already read 3 of the 5 books in this Series and I am looking forward to the remaining two ones. While I will not be divulging the plot over here (it deserves to be explored without any spoilers), I like the way the author is handling the psychologies of all the characters involved, including those of the policemen. SI Saralkar is growing on me, and so is PSI Motkar. Onto the next read.
