A Swift Guide To Butterflies of North America

Rate this book
3500 large, gorgeous photographs illustrate all the butterflies of North America. For most species, both topsides and undersides, males and females, and variants are shown. Written by Jeffrey Glassberg, the founder of modern butterflying and the president of the North American Butterfly Association, this book provides hundreds of new field marks and a layout that will allow you to identify almost every butterfly that you see. Range maps are placed with each species, along with information about food plants, abundance, habitat and interesting features. The most user-friendly butterfly field guide ever created! Bill Benner, in American Butterflies review said "with this new Swift Guide, Glassberg has elevated his field guide repertoire, and indeed the butterfly field guide genre, to a whole new level. The format is exciting, the photos are phenomenal, and each page is packed solid with valuable information...It is difficult to overestimate the importance and utility of this sort of layout, and what a boon it is to the butterflier trying to decide between confusingly similar species." From Pat Sutton, co-author of How to Spot a "W O W!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a masterpiece"

Pretty good guide with great photos, although the layout is fairly cluttered until you get used to it. It will make a good companion to the Kaufman butterfly guide, as I always like having multiple guides to compare.
