I should have known by the tattoos that Sawyer was trouble. My mother always said to stay away from boys with ink, but she ignored her own advice. She also abandoned me and my little sister.

Life's been hard for the two of us, on the run and on our own, but I just turned twenty-one and started working at a bar in a new city. I wear a fake wedding band and a veil of lies.

My gold ring didn't stop Sawyer. He looked into me with his heavenly green eyes, and I nearly forgot my pretty lies. Now he wants to help me get my life together.

I should stay away, because he could blow my cover. When we get found—and I know one day we will—I want my sister to be old enough to handle the truth about our past.

I may be hanging out with Sawyer, but we're definitely not dating. I swear, he's not setting me on fire with every glance or casual touch. We're just friends. I'm not thinking about him wrapping those tattooed arms around me, every second of every day.

THIS NEW ADULT ROMANCE contains mature content, including erotic sex scenes, drug use, and criminal activity. Contains graphic material some readers may find offensive (or very fun). Ages 17+

FOR YOU is a stand-alone novel with a HEA (Happily Ever After) ending and absolutely no cliffhanger.

Ok in all honesty, I did not finish this one so technically it could have gotten better. But after speaking with my BR buddy I'm glad I was a quitter and didn't waste any more time on it. This girl works in her uncle's bar even though her uncle previously didn't know she existed and pretends she is married and that her sister is her daughter while her mom has up and disappeared. She apparently has a jacked up tooth and that's why she doesn't smile (WTF) and she goes to dentist and gets this fixed. (IDK why they put this in the story) This guy who is named Sawyer shows up in the bar every day and apparently is tatted up and looks "scary" and he's an artist blah blah blah

Anyways, she leaves with him on his motorcycle to help him with his art project (even though she's fake married and he thinks she is) so they walk through town and everyone is looking at them like they are robbers and he takes her to the dump where he lives and then his friend shows up when she leaves and keeps talking about "dat ass" and that's about when I decided to give up...Oh and I don't think you ever even find out what the main character's name is or if you do I don't even remember it...

I first want to thank Mimi Strong for allowing me the opportunity to get my grabby hands on this early! It's my first ARC review so bear with me :)

"Your start isn't where you end up."

Aubrey hasn't had a simple life nor an easy life. She has taken on the responsibilities of her younger sister and the fear that comes from trying to out run a past that seems to be nipping at your heels. And seeing him, Sawyer, stirred something in her that could change her world in more than one way. She had secrets to keep hidden and a life to protect, her heart was not available and being let down again was not an option.

Aubrey was broken. In more ways than just her spirit. She had hid herself away, buried so deep in twisted tales - unable to tell which way was up. But there was something that drew her to Sawyer. He was good-looking, he had the tattoos her mother warned her about but he protected her without a second thought. He was just there, always watching her and waiting for her.

"You were a gutted, wallowing candle."
"What?"
"That was my first impression of you, Aubrey. A wick drowning in melted wax, your flame in danger. Just one more gust of wind and you'd be lost. You'd become that lost girl, sad through and through."

Sawyer waited, let her run and just waited for her to come back. He knew she was broken but he had seen a smile or two flutter across her face. A smile he put there. He knew this was his girl - the faceless one in his dreams, the one he had to have, the one he would love. He just had to make her see that. And boy did he have his work cut out for him, the walls that Aubrey built seemed like they were not going to budge. He pushed, he let up and still those wall stayed in place. With every inch gained, he would lose a foot. For every kiss he would watch her close up.

"Maybe I didn't need her, but I wanted her, right from the top of my head to thesoles of my feet and everywhere in between."

Oh, my you will also crave some maple syrup...not in a pancake type of way but The Canadian kind-a-way

I laughed, held my breath (okay - I seriously stopped breathing there for a while), I even cried but I smiled. This was a story that pulled you in, you had to know the secrets you had your own assumptions as to what they could be... and I was so off. I am so glad I was so off. My heart would have been shattered. But you had to know. I picked this up and did not put it down, not for one second. I got up off the couch - kindle was in my hand. I ate dinner - Kindle was in my hand. Seriously non-stop reading to see what was going to happen, to know what had happened.

I found the writing had an ease and it flowed. You had a connection to the characters and I loved getting the insight to Sawyer with is POV sections. They were the perfect moments for him to tell you his side. They were not just placed in as filler - they gave a dimension to the story - for a part that meant something. And he does not let you down. Their flirty conversations and texting were well done; I nearly craved more flirty text from him. (Like seriously someone needs to create an app for all of our fictional boyfriends where you can get random sexy text from them - Sawyer would so need to be included). His rambling on and on was adorable, you just want to kiss him to shut him up.

"To be someone's inspiration?"
The tears were back, and this time they wouldn't hold back.
I whispered, "To be seen."
"I see you," he said, kissing my hand. "I see you Aubrey."

I greatly enjoyed this story. It had enough drama to keep you from a sugar overdose. Aubrey was young, but her life caused her to have to be much older so you don't read it like it's coming from a twenty-one year old. You seem to forget that they are both young because they both have a maturity about them. I got everything I needed, a great romance, enough angst to rile me up but not cause me heartburn, sex that was hot, but not smutty and enough slow released information that held my attention as bits and pieces were released from the first to the last page. Well done Mimi Strong. After the Kissing Coach and this book I am a fan.

You know...I read this book a few days ago and I am sitting here trying to write my review and I honestly have NO CLUE what this book was about. NO CLUE!

Hmm...let's see. We have our heroine--I have no clue what her name is--she's fled town with her younger sister after her mom left. She and her sister end up living with her grand-parents (that she never knew existed) and she works at a pub/bar for her uncle (who also never knew they existed). She pretends to be married for some reason...they are kind of in hiding since her sister is a minor.

While working at the bar, our nameless heroine meets Sawyer....wait was that his name?? Anywho...our hero is all tatted up and he pretty much comes to the bar everyday and draws. We honestly never find out anything important about him. Apparently his parents were rich, but he lives in a complete dump with his druggie friend--no clue why.

Let's see....what else?!?!

Hmm....

That's about all I got. I pretty much skimmed the whole book. The H and h eventually end up together....but nothing profound happens between them at all. The story was full of details that didn't matter at all (the h getting her tooth fixed, the H being made out to be a thief, the H's druggie friend).

I guess the whole point of the story was Maybe? I don't know...

This one just didn't work for me....at all!

Ok so I only made it to 70% but in that far…

I learnt that…
It’s set in Canada.
She was on the run from the US.

Her name was Aubrey
His name was Sawyer.

He was rich pretending to be poor living in filth.
She was pretending to be married and a mother. When in fact it was her sister.

She works in her uncle’s bar.
He is an artist

He drives a motorcycle
And taught her how to play pool.

And she is poor…
Her sisters friends Mom gave them a TV…

Other than that.. Not a whole lot happened.

I didn’t really like any of the characters. I couldn’t connect with any of them.
It may have had an awesome ending.. But I will never know.
I wanted to give up at 30% but said no something will happen..
Same as 40%
Nope something will happen
50% Nope something HAS to happen
60% Goddamn it why is nothing happening?
70% oh fuck this shit I’m outta here

Finally getting around on writing my review..

I wanted to like this book I really did. But I just could not get into it. Since I DNF this book, I will not be rating it. I do not feel I should rate this when I did not finish it. Honestly this is my first DNF book EVER and I hate that. I always try to finish a book even when I am not feeling it.

I hate to do it but, you can't win them all. I do not discourage others from reading this, since everyone has different taste and don't feel the same way. I know Authors spend so much time working on their books and poor their hearts in souls into it, but not all books for meant for everyone.

Maybe one day I will pick this back up and read it again, but at this moment it will be a while before I back track.

I received a ARC for exchange for an honest review.

3.5 – 4 stars

Aubrey was broken, scared and running away, she had had a hard life and she did the only thing she could think of at the time and ran, but she did not do it alone she had no alternative but to take her little sister with her. Their mother deserted them, she had her misguided reasons but none strong enough to do what she did, the back story is revealed slowly during the book and we finally get to see why Aubrey is running. Aubrey and Bell pack up and leave and Aubrey does not know what to do, so she has vague recollections of her mothers family and decides to seek them out. They end up with her grandparents and uncle. They set them up in a little flat as she wants to be independent and works for her uncle at his bar. She wears a wedding ring so that no questions are asked and Bell calls her mum. She gets Bell settled in school and between her, her uncle and her grandmother Bell is always taken care of.

Aubrey protects herself the only way she knows, she is abrupt, sad, never smiles and keeps herself to herself, she only goes to the bar to work, the shops for food and the school for Bell. The more inconspicuous they are the less likely they are to be found, after all she does not have official custody of Bell and she is frightened that if they are discovered Bell will be taken away and that she will end up in prison. What secret is she hiding……

Sawyer is a patron of the bar and Aubrey intrigues him, he is a tattooed biker, come artist, come musician, come sex god, owns a Harley, is amazingly cute (are you getting the message lol)…he does what he wants to do and never lets life get on top of him. He always sits in the bar with his sketch pad and just draws, Aubrey seems to be his muse, she inspires him and he has feelings for her that he has never felt before especially not since his only other serious relationship had left him emotionally scarred. Sawyer tries to befriend Aubrey and after much persuasion they eventually become friends. He takes her out a few times, shows her his art and eventually they become boyfriend and girlfriend slowly but surely they open up to each other, but Aubrey still has secrets.

“You were a gutted, wallowing candle”
“What?”
“That was my first impression of you Aubrey. A wick drowning in melted wax, your flame in danger. Just one more gust of wind and you’d be lost. You’d be that lost girl, sad through and through”

Eventually, Aubrey lets Sawyer in completely, tells him her secrets and lets him into Bells life too, but as is the norm life does not run smoothly. There are ups and downs, misunderstandings, a run in with law enforcement. There are also some fab scenes too between the two, especially with maple syrup! How could you not love a guy that says:-

“You take off that pretend ring and get yourself a real man. You tell him to put his head between your legs and don’t come up ‘til you’re howling his name loud enough to get all the dogs in the neighbourhood barking”

It is a lovely story, told extremely well, the drama of the back story levels the romance side so you get a well balanced read. I could not put this book down, I had to know what happened between them and I had to know what the secret was that she had been hiding and I was pleased that it was not revealed till near the end.

This book does have a HEA and could be a standalone although I do think another book maybe in the pipeline, I would be very happy to read more about their life going forward. A fab book!!

"My own heart has always been quick to trust."

This is how the author ends this book... this is not from the story itself. This is she telling us something, that I think is the final touch for me. Like if she was telling me... yes! I know why you felt sad at that scene, I know why you have cried at this one... or why you laughed at that. This was she "making us the same"... even for a bit! This was her... "understanding me" with her own words...
And for that... Thank you so much Mimi Strong!

Vůbec mě to nebavilo a přišlo mi to prostě otravné.

This is definately a book of two halves for me. The first half was a little choppy and confusing in parts, but I stuck with it as I liked Aubrey, and there is a certain something about Sawyer too that I found cute and vulnerable.

The book really comes into its own in the second half, we get more information on Aubrey and Sawyers pasts, and the development of their relationship through the discovery of each others secrets and vulnerabilities.

Several of my favourite passages are below, they convey the emotion and raw feelings that are displayed in the book, it was good too see a guy putting his heart on the line for once. This is a story where our heroine has issues and secrets and it was quite a refreshing change -

Sawyer - “Say something.
You're killing me, as usual. Tell me you hate it, and you don't
really want me in your life. Just say it, so I can start getting
over you.”

Sawyer - Aubrey, how can I give myself to you? What do you
need so you can know this is real?

Sigh.....

I have read a few other things by Ms Strong, and I have to say I prefer her writing style when she invests herself in a full book over the novels that are split up into innumerable parts. Everyone seems to be jumping on this band waggon nowadays, and I can see it running out of steam pretty quickly. As a reader it is highly frustrating to read several chapters of a book, and get into the story only to keep having it cut off at a pivotal point.

On the strength of reading For You, I fully intend to look at Mimi's other full length novels.

In summary it was a light read with a HEA, not too long, ideal if you have an afternoon to kill or are looking for something to chill out with while on your holidays. No cliffhanger ending as well which is a major bonus.

I was supplied an ARC copy of this book, and have provided an honest review as a thank you for the privilege.

I've just finished this book, and I'm laying here with this big stupid grin on my face because I absolutley loved this story and *I have no idea why*. (The grin, however, may have something to do with the rather large glass of Merlot I had while devouring this book. ;)

Really. This book is gritty, and raw and just....real. Nothing is sugar coated or glossed over and although this results in quite a few parts that made me literally squirm with embarrassment (for what, or whom, I'm not quite sure...), I can't imagine this book any other way.

The funny thing is, *nothing* really happens in this book. Seriously. Nothing at all, other than a guy and a girl with a few secrets meet and fall in love, after some predictable back and forth. There's nothing major here. The main backbone of the story has already happened before the first page, and we slowly learn about it through flashbacks and a few conversations.

I guess I just love indie authors and this book is a perfect example of why. Things written in this book are just true, and familiar, and that rare thing happened when I just *get* a book. I know its not for everyone, and probably a lot of people won't even finish it, but I'm so glad I did. I'd honestly never even heard of Mimi Strong, and had just happened to borrow this book from a friend and wow.

Definitely a re-read for me. Maybe I'm just weird, or programmed differently, to hate books that everyone else raves about and then choose a new favorite that has scores of 1 and 2 star reviews. But whatever ... I loved it, ridiculously pointless details and all! :)

There were some wonderful moments in this book but, overall, it just didn't work for me. I thought Aubrey was okay, but I didn't find Sawyer all that appealing, particularly when the story was told from his point of view.

I very much enjoy reading about people falling in love, but this kind of book is just not my cup of tea. Sex in a book is fine when it's a part of the story, but with a lot of these NA books, including this one, sex is a substitute for character development and the development of an actual relationship between the two characters who are supposedly falling in love. I like the idea of reading about two damaged people healing and finding love, but I've yet to read an NA novel where the premise is executed well.

The narrative also has a tendency to wander at times and drop plot threads. I wanted to know what the deal was with Sawyer's upbringing, but it's mentioned once and then never again.

The last twenty percent of the book was especially weak. Not much is happening, then suddenly the book hurries to tie things up and end. It made the last part feel like the end of one of those movies that show a picture of the character with a short blurb summing up what happens to them off camera, once the main thrust of the plot has ended.

This book would make a decent beach read, but if you're looking for something with substance, look elsewhere.

This story reminds me of how beautiful and life-affirming love is. The mere essence of what falling in love can do. Aubrey has so many responsibilities that she has given up on finding herself. She has made such a web of deception she has lost herself. In comes the dashing man of mystery, Sawyer, who finds an interest in the woman behind the her story. Although, he comes with a story himself, written in the form of tattoos about his body. This time though, he's not a millionaire, or CEO, nor does he have any childhood baggage, he's just a regular guy who happens to fall head over heels in love with Aubrey. Sawyer spends his time becoming consumed with getting Aubrey to face her past and face the love he has to give to her. Does she finally see daybreak in the fortress she has built around herself? This story is told mainly from Aubrey's POV, but, just as we all love, we get to see what goes on from Sawyer's POV as well! Read it, fall in love with it, and become a Mimi Strong fan for life!

Wow couldn't put it down!
I was getting flustered with Aubrey and her holding Sawyer arm's length away when he clearly was a good guy. Aubrey's childhood was a mess to say the least but she is actually a bad ass when you see all she's been through. Throughout the book I was just hoping that she would totally let down her guard and let Sawyer in. Not sure how much Sawyer will take before he just gives up. Lots of Hot steamy juicy sex. Fabulous ending.

Quotes:

"Are you a happy girl with a sad face, or are you sad through and through?"

"Just call me the Redneck Whisperer."

"He's been watching you like you're HBO."

"You're argumentative, and tough like a microwaved steak"

"When I looked at Aubrey's eyes, so gray and pure, I could feel the pull of the moon."

"First the ice cubes, then ring the dinner bell."

First off thanks to Mimi and her team for giving our blog this ARC. Read more @ www.theromancecover.com

I really enjoyed this book it pretty much had it all.
I laughed (a lot), I got scared, i got annoyed and I got hot under the collar. I was worried at a few points with my heart racing and reading as quick as I could to make sure it was all ok. Then I finished and I felt all warm and fuzzy and I had a smile on my face like when you see a kitten or a puppy!!

Aubrey (with a B!!) is running from her past and spinning a web of lies that she's loosing track of and but not everyone believes her. She's getting her life back on track with a job in her uncles bar, a new apartment and has got to know her grandparents. Bell her daughter/sister is at school and made a friend. It's all going well for her.
Trusting and loving again are two things Aubrey said she'd never do again.
Then in walks Sawyer, and OMG he's hot!! A good looking, charming, cute, funny guy with crazy tattoos and he woos her. But not in an over baring I'm-all-that way he's sweet to her and does nice things. He's an artist, with a Harley, a musician, a sex god and he falls hard for Aubrey but a previous a bad relationship has left him a little scarred.
Here's a taster of what he says to her;
"You were a gutted, wallowing candle."
"What?"
"That was my first impression of you, Aubrey. A wick drowning in melted wax, your flame in danger.
Just one more gust of wind and you'd be lost. You'd become that lost girl, sad through and through."
He tries to give her the space she needs, not that he has much choice as she pushes him away and keeps running from him. But he doesn't want a part-time relationship he wants her all.

Then he does something that's just SWOON, she pushes her doubts away and gives them ago. She even trusts him with her past and let's him into Bell's life. When they are together it's Hot and there's Maple Syrup!!!!

They still have a few hurdles to get over. And that's where my heart was pounding. But together they get there and the end is great.
I really love a HEA.

A couple for my fave quotes from the book are;
"You take off that pretend ring and get yourself a real man.
You tell him to put his head between your legs and don't come up 'til you're howling his name load enough to get all the
dogs in the neighbourhood barking."
And
"Sawyer I believe you, and not just because I want to, but because... because you're Sawyer.
You're so cute, and so good to me, and patient, and oh-my-god you look good with you're shirt off.
And the way you're looking at me right now, you're killing me. Look at me, I can barely breathe.
I feel like my lungs and heart are going to crush themselves with excitement,
so would you stop looking at me like that and just kiss me again before I die."

"Only if you take off your panties."

I've read there will be another book and I look forward to it. But if it didn't happen I'd be happy with it being a stand alone.

P.s. I would also like to tell you that just after I had finished it my daughter asked for Maple Syrup on her ice-cream and I couldn't look her in the eye!! I even sent the other girls a photo!!

Smith F@#$^%* Wittingham was basically dethroned in this book by the one and only,Sawyer Jones, I love Smith and his crazy antics and personality, but Sawyer takes the title in this amazing book. ❤ .

I had the honor of beta reading for Mrs. Strong. I simply adore Mimi and her books for starters. She is one of the best authors in the world. You simply must read all her books. If you know Mimi, well you will be able to see her personality and humor in her stories. I simply love her to death. Now on to my review of 'For You '

From the very get go you can tell what an emotional read this is going to be. What Aubrey and Bell had to go through, what Aubrey has to go through. She is one strong woman and I am so proud of her in this book. Sawyer, what can I say about him? He is simply amazing. He could be your best friend and lover. Might I add he is HILARIOUS, this entire book kept me on my toes and laughing. Start to finish. Sawyer brought Aubrey back to life I feel, he made her bring down her walls in ways I only could of hoped at the beginning. The things he does and gives up for her and Bell is astounding. One of the best book boyfriends to date. I am so incredibly proud of all the characters in this book. It ended beautifully and I am so happy everything worked out for Aubrey, Bell and Sawyer. She has Bell and hopefully she can forgive her mother for some of the wrong-doings and move on and be happy. I hope Mimi does another catch-up one day.Absolutely a must read! Best work to date from the amazingly, talented Mimi Strong! I give it more than 5 stars! May I add Mimi makes all us Canadian's proud!

**Some of my favorites quotes from the book**

"Just call me the Redneck whisperer."

"You have to fight, Or you won't believe you're worth fighting for."

"So that's what it takes to get you to laugh. A couple of swear words, and the mental image of my ass on display."

" You have this effect on me, Like the moon has on the tide."

"What's that? You want me to buy us a tent?."

"You belong with me. I knew from the moment I saw you, and I've never had a second of doubt. Be with me and I'll prove myself worthy of your love."

"I see you, Aubrey."

"We call this the Canadian, don'cha-know, eh?"

"Oh. You're my full-time lover."

"You're the only girl I want. Even though you burst into my room and beat me up. I'm sorry I didn't give you the answers you wanted, but you looked like you were going to murder someone and I thought it might be me."

"I want to taste you every day, and know all your secrets."

"I see you, Aubrey, and I feel you. I've found you and I will never let you go."

"And I want to worship you. Let me take off these mortal fabrics and see you in your true splendor."

It's not that it was a terrible book... It was just that I couldn't connect with any of the characters. Also the author kept bringing up story lines then cutting them short so they were incomplete. To be honest the only character I wanted to read about was Bell and her adventures at school, because they sounded 10x more interesting.

What was with the scene where Spanky and Sawyer were home alone and they were acting like ghetto 15 year old mums. If I wanted ghetto I would have put my tv on Maury!

I found Aubrey's past more interesting than her current life. I was always rushing ahead for the next flash back, because her current life just wasn't doing it for me.

We didn't even get to find out what happened with Damien! The author wrote how many flashbacks surrounding Damien, then all of a sudden they stop! Are you kidding me? It was the only interesting part!

Also I thought it was unnessecary to write that Derek would read her fake diaries, pull away her covers away at night and ask if she was touching herself and other things that I class as verbal sexually harassment, if nothing was going to happen. I thought he raped her or something but NO! Now I know I sound like a horrible person cause I expected her to have gotten raped, but how can an author build up your imagination like that for it to be crushed into a million tiny pieces!!!

It's not the only time that I've been highly disappointed by this book.

2) when Aubrey froze because she thought Damien had found her and was in the pub. She seriously made me believe it was him!! I thought "hmmm, maybe I didn't waste my time by reading this book" but NOPE! I was proved wrong once again!

3) when Sawyer decided he was going to break up with Aubrey because of his stupid pot influenced reasons. I was expecting a big interesting break up. What did I get...? No break up AT ALL! He never even though of the idea ever again. In fact, the next morning when he had his chance, he went running after her when she ran away because she thought he cheated!

I just don't see the point in the author bringing in these story lines if she has no intention of carrying on with them.

There's wayyyyy more times I've been led on in this book, but if I said all I would practically be writing a book, not a review.

I'm going to stop here because I'm getting angry just thinking about the book.

So I am kind of stuck on what to give this book, should I give it 3 or 4 stars? I guess I will write out this review and see what i have. Here goes nothing.( I was given this book as an ARC and decided to review it, sorry if the review sucks)
So here we are with the main chick Aubrey and her little sister Bella(whom she tells people is her daughter) and they are on the run from a dark secret from their past. Oh and they live in Canada, eh. With a couple of bumps in the road they seemed to be quietly moving along just fine. Ahhh that is until Sawyer all rides in like a tattooed knight in some dirty armor. Did I mention this guy is tattooed(10 points). He meets Aubrey and is convinced no matter what he wants her and he wants everything, good or bad. Heart, body, soul and all that gooey goodness. But poor guy the more he pushes the faster and further away she runs. But after some fighting and a kitchen table incident, ta da they are together, well sorta. We still have good ol Aubrey hiding from Sawyer. Well after some nice sexing and some accusations she finally opens up and spills the truth. Then a tragedy happens and after Aubrey is cleared of the past we are golden. Yay Aubrey and Sawyer. Yeah I know it's a little rushed lol.
So what did I think of the book, welllllll. It was a good book. I really like Sawyer and Aubrey grew on me, after wanting to shake her a few times. All in all the characters weren't all that bad. But sigh, the story. The story just seemed so rushed in some parts and a few times I was left going, "Wait, what, hold on what just happened?" It did all kind of come together by the end though.. The writing got a little choppy here and there and I found myself putting the book down to take a break a couple of times. Oh but I did love the two POVs, I am a sucker for double POVS(hehe), so that made it good. Overall i liked the characters and the story, wished the writing flowed a little better and let's not forget the tattoos. So I am pretty much 50/50, but I think the PoVs and tattoos have pushed me to go to 4 stars.

I had the wonderful opportunity to read an ARC of this story and what can I say about this book?! It was fantastic! I felt a real connection with the lead characters of Aubrey and Sawyer. As a reader, I just felt for Aubrey with all the tragedies and sadness that she has dealt with in her life. At such a young age, she had to take care of her younger sister and never truly live a normal life. She did her best to deal with the situation and you just felt for her as you imagine the enormity of it all. Then out of the blue came Sawyer Jones who changes everything for her. Sawyer is completely lovable! He was funny, attractive, and wanted to make everything right for Aubrey. He wanted to fix everything in her life and save her. I couldn't get enough of Sawyer and his sea-life tattoos! The love scenes were hot and I felt the intensity coming out from my Kindle. I was so glad with the way that it ended but also sad that it was over.

Mimi did such a wonderful job with this story! She sucked you with the first chapter and I wanted more! I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. I felt a connection with Aubrey and Sawyer as they went through the ups and downs of their relationship. I felt like I was on the emotional rollercoaster with them. I laughed and got upset at the parts that needed those feelings. I loved the POV from Aubrey and Sawyer as it added more dimensions to the story. It was so full of laughter, passion, love, and angst. It had everything required for a great story! I love when I get emotionally invested in a book and lose myself in the story! I love love love this book!! I will definitely re-read this story again and recommend it to all! Mimi is such an amazing author and everyone should read this book and all of her others as well! A job well done Mimi!!! :)

In the author's notes Ms Strong says "I had a few things in mind when I started this tale, and nothing went quite how I planned, but it still worked out exactly how I would have wanted" I'm not sure about it working out but you could, clearly, see that the story didn't go as first planned. There were a number of side line bits in this book that added absolutely NOTHING to the main story. Aubrey had a bad tooth that needed a root canal, ok AND??? She also has acne around her hair line...AND? Sawyer's family had money, ok AND? Aubrey went to another mother's home, went through the lady's medicine cabinet and squeezed out/wasted one of her expensive eye lotion capsules...AND? Aubrey's uncle was born with a cleft lip & palette...AND? These are just a few of the add-nothing bits and there are the unanswered questions. Aubrey's mother told the girls that their grandparents were dead, ok WHY? If Aubrey thought they were dead how did she find them and her uncle???

Another reviewer mentioned having a smile on her face at the end of the book but that it might have been from the rather large glass of Merlot she had while reading it. Maybe if I had gotten out the vodka all the go-no-where bits of this book wouldn't have bothered me...

ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review.

From the minute I read the synopsis of this book I knew I had to read it. So when I was offered an ARC and the opportunity to be part of the blog tour I was very excited! And I’m very happy I participated.

I could tell this was going to be an emotional and heartfelt read from the beginning. Aubrey’s story was so devastatingly wonderful. You couldn’t help but root for her. The entire time I was reading I kept coming up with ways in my head to help solve her problems. Haha. If only she could hear my thoughts.

Then in walks Sawyer. I really liked him a lot. And the progression of Aubrey and Sawyer’s relationship was timed perfectly. All too often the relationships are established way too quickly or they take way too long. Props to Mimi Strong on that one. And the way Sawyer meshed with Bell was so sweet. He just fit into their little family perfectly.

I recommend this book to all of our readers who are looking for a quick heartfelt read. Well done, Mimi.

I loved this book! This is the story of Aubrey and Sawyer..Aubrey who is trying to outrun her past and Sawyer who just won't leave her alone.I was so engrossed in this story. Its one where you do not want to be interrupted.I was iffy on the point of view crossover.I love reading alternating points of views. However I usually dislike when the author goes back and I have to re-read the entire chapter from the others point of view. This time I enjoyed it.Why?Mimi Strong pulled it off!Sawyer is just full of awesome. He is funny, sarcastic, hot, tattooed.Just plain YUMMERS.He stole the book and my heart. This is a must read and I cannot wait for book 2.I seriously cannot say enough great things about this book!

2-3 stars Strange book. Not horrible. Takes a while to get into it because the instant love thing was very hard to believe for me. It was dysfunctional but at least Aubrey's reason for running made sense and was as bad as you thought it should be. I hate books where the girl is running from something in her past and its not a big deal at all. There are some editing and writing issues but not unreadable. I will say that there are weird scenes, like when Sawyer is tripping on special pot and thinking he's on a spaceship. Yes, that did happen in this book so yes it is a pretty different read. I don't even know how I feel about this book. The first word that comes to my mind is, as fore mentioned, Strange...

OMG.... I really enjoyed this book so much. I loved the story of Aubrey and Sawyer. Gosh I was swooning so hard over Sawyer. Talk about sweet and sexy. Totally YUMMY. These 2 so deserved the HEA they got. Aubrey was a such a good mom to her sister Bell. She always put her first. Considering their real mom sucked at the job. My heart broke for all the things those two had to go through. When she meets Sawyer I think she knew he was her future. This book is sexy, hot. Loved those sex scenes between Sawyer and Aubrey, especially the maple syrup. YUMMY!!!! I am looking forward to reading more books from Mimi Strong.

Umm yep I didn't like this one nope not at all. Believe the author had a great idea and I would love if it was possible for her to have a redo on this. I never bought into the chemistry between the couple. The dual pov doesn't start until 6 chapters. I just didn't like I'm very surprised I finished it.

Unfinished...

I feel like there were a lot of things started in this book that were left unfinished. The character depth was virtually non existent. It had potential and I did enjoy the story but it was poorly executed.

Mimi Strong For You

Hi my “whores”

First let me say A huge thank you to Mimi Strong and Book Crush for letting me be a part of this tour! I truly liked this book! I will for warn you there might be a little spoilers in here!

Book Description

I should have known by the tattoos that Sawyer was trouble. My mother always said to stay away from boys with ink, but she ignored her own advice. She also abandoned me and my little sister.

Life’s been hard for the two of us, on the run and on our own, but I just turned twenty-one and started working at a bar in a new city. I wear a fake wedding band and a veil of lies.

My gold ring didn’t stop Sawyer. He looked into me with his heavenly green eyes, and I nearly forgot my pretty lies. Now he wants to help me get my life together.

I should stay away, because he could blow my cover. When we get found—and I know one day we will—I want my sister to be old enough to handle the truth about our past.

I may be hanging out with Sawyer, but we’re definitely not dating. I swear, he’s not setting me on fire with every glance or casual touch. We’re just friends. I’m not thinking about him wrapping those tattooed arms around me, every second of every day.

Excerpt #1

Aubrey’s POV

The man at the counter didn’t say a word to me, either. He barely took his eyes off the TV sitting at the side of the counter.

When I got back to our pool table, Sawyer was using the Lady Helper to make a shot.

“No way,” I said. “You’re using the Lady Helper? I wanted to use that five shots ago, but I thought you’d make fun of me.”

He tapped the cue ball gracefully, sending it arcing around one ball and gently into another, which ricocheted into the pocket as if programmed.

He said, “No shame in using the tools you have, or taking assistance.”

“How zen.”

“And this isn’t a Lady Helper.” The stick had a metal waving bit at the end, and Sawyer held it up proudly, like a trident.

“What do you call it?”

He grinned. “I call it The Fucking Thing. As in, hand me The Fucking Thing already, so I don’t bend over and give all you perverts a good view of my ass.”

I laughed into my hand.

“So that’s what it takes to get you to laugh. A couple of swear words, and the mental image of my ass on display.”

“Gimme the stick. I paid for an hour and I want my money’s worth.”

As I reached for the cue, he jerked his hand back. “Gimme?”

“Please and thank you.”

“That’s better.” He turned around and pointed to the purple ball. “Now sink that in the corner pocket.”

“I’m still solids? Because I see at least three shots that are easier.”

“I know. But you won’t get any better taking the easy shots. You may as well be at home baking cookies for your daughter.”

I inhaled sharply. My daughter. My lies sounded so much worse on someone else’s lips.

Getting in position for the shot, I realized I had to bank the ball, so I moved around the table. As I shifted past Sawyer, the back of my legs brushed against his. We’d only touched when riding the motorcycle, and the brief contact made me keenly aware of his body. His energy. The mass of him, tall and masculine, inches away from me.

His voice low and husky, he said, “I know I promised not to do this, but I have to. Do I have your permission to get in here and help you.”

“Yes.”

Slowly, he positioned himself just behind me and reached his arms around me. I wasn’t scared or upset, because it was Sawyer, and I trusted him. His hot hands looped over mine on the cue, and his heat radiated into my side. His breath hot on my ear, he murmured, “Easy.”

I swallowed and tried to focus on the shot, and not the feelings bubbling up inside me.

“Easy,” he repeated.

“Easy peasy,” I said.

“More like easy does it.” He moved the cue back and forth with authority. He was so good, it made me appreciate the frustration Bell had when I helped with her hand-lettering. Of course writing letters came easily to me; I’d had years of practice and muscle memory.

“Okay, I got it,” I said. “You can let go.”

He gripped my hand tighter. “No, I can’t.”

I turned to look at him, our faces so close, our noses were nearly touching. I lost myself in those green eyes, unable to breathe. My pulse thrummed in my ears.

He said, “I can’t let go, because I’m going to help you make the shot. Focus on the feeling, and I’ll set it up again for you to make on your own.”

“Okay, do it.”

He chuckled. “You have to open your eyes.”

Now my take on this book?! I thought it started a little slow, I am sitting there waiting for the explosion! When it finally comes it is in the kitchen on a table! LOL Spoiler sorry!

Aubery has had to fight for everything in her life and is still fighting. You can tell she doesn’t nor does she want to trust anyone. She is running and looking over her shoulder and always scared. Taking care of her little sister that she claims is her daughter to make sure she has a better life growing up than she did! No one should have to go through the things that no child should ever have to go through!

There was a super funny part when Aubery remembers her past that had me cracking up and I am sure most people will not find funny but to me it was great! Hint bleach!!

When you meet Swayer you don’t know too much about him. We know he is not sure where his life is going and that he loves to paint. Which he is amazing at!!! Oh and that he likes Aubrey and wont let her get away with pretending to be married.

He doesnt believe her from the get go and he wont take no for an answer.

When she finally reveals the truth he does not run like she thinks he will. When her past shows up and she tries to run he stays!

Will they find their happily ever after? You must read to find out!

Mimi is an amazing author and I can’t wait to see what happens now!
