Professor Carter Alexander may have a sharp tongue and a reputation for reducing freshman acting students to tears, but he’s gorgeous. He’s the man of Teagan Moss’ dreams. Literally. She’s been having dreams about him since she was thirteen years old. Yes, those kind of dreams.
Teagan’s been sheltered, hidden away by her crazy aunts and her even crazier mother, all of whom have cautioned her that the man in her dreams wants to hurt her. But Teagan doesn’t believe in their stories of power and evil.
All she wants is to be normal for once.
One night, she’s compelled out of her bed by a force she doesn’t understand. She finds herself across town on Professor Alexander’s porch.
And he’s kissing her.

WARNING: If you're not a huge fan of the mention of rape and you don't like student/teacher relationships at all (though the age difference here is pretty small compared to most), then this book isn't for you.
I overall enjoyed the book. I do somewhat agree when one of the characters says that the attraction between Professor Alexander and Teagen is mostly physical because there doesn't seem to be much moments where it's romantic (most of them occur while they're getting physical *wink wink*).
The only character that I didn't hate/didn't frustrate me was pretty much the insane mom. Every other character either makes a stubborn move, is ignorant, betrays someone, or is just a plain douche. But each character has their own reason for being one of the above so I can't fully hate them (though it can be strong).
The climax (no pun intended for those who've read it) wasn't as exciting as I thought it'd be (though the scene did make me a little hot and heavy(;). The ending before the epilogue also seemed to be cut short and rushed. Other than the lack of romance and somewhat rushed ending, I enjoyed this book. I recommend it for those who love student/teacher relationships, some erotic scenes (trust me, some of them WILL have you feeling hot and heavy), and enjoy the New Adult genre.
It had the potential to be good - the concepts were so intriguing and it started out well enough. I think what let it down was the rushed ending and the glossing over some of the the important aspects of the book. I really hate stories that built you up to the climax only to have a 'lightening strikes' moment where everything is revealed to the main character band she suddenly has the wisdom and power of generations, after and is able to instantly smite all of her enemies in one go, especially after doubting her heritage and abilities for the entire book. It wasn't a satisfying ending and so many questions were left unanswered.
Sensual, suspenseful, and fast-paced, Crimson is a romping good time. Set against the backdrop of gothic Thornfield University, notorious for its secrets, Teagan and Carter embark on a harrowing journey to discover their destiny and evade the dark fate that has been planned for them. Theirs is a story of forbidden love, of being inextricably and irrevocably drawn to another, of being powerless against the consuming force of desire.
Crimson is also a story about choices; whether we live life in fulfillment of others’ expectations, or whether we forge our own futures, as well as how willing we are to make sacrifices for the sake of our conscience and those we love. All deep pondering aside, Crimson is a juicy little thriller that hits all of the right notes: mysterious dreams of a phantom lover, a prestigious art school with an insidious agenda, secret societies, a torrid affair with an off-limits professor, and a likeable, sympathetic heroine.
This is the kind of story that you want to curl up with on a stormy afternoon and lose yourself in. It was engaging, enjoyable, and just plain fun.
Since she was 13 Teagan Moss has dreamed of the Dark man who would steal her light, so her aunts tell her. But Teagan thinks they are a little crazy like her scizophrenic mother. When she turns 21 and and receives a full scholarship to Thornfield, a very influential college when it came to the arts, she leaves her sheltered life and doesn't look back. That is until she meets the man of her dreams. When she first sees Professor Alexander she is shocked and turns heal and runs, she should have kept running because what happens next is a web of secrets, sex and magic.
I enjoyed this wickedly delicious plot line, even when the ritual is brought up and it makes me want to hurl a lil in my mouth. The characters surprise and delight you. The curve ball Chambers launches at you with some of them is unforeseen. There is a strong struggle between good and evil all over this book! And sometimes what is good and right isn't easy.
If you don't mind the whole secret society and raping young women for power thing, this is the book for you. Or if you are like me and will read anything and everything Chambers writes.... you won't be disappointed!
I received a copy for a honest review. I'm not that into romance novels but I love Sci-Fi, so a paranormal romance novel sounded good to me. I really like VJ Chambers books but heads up that this was more of an erotic sci-fi book then romance) If your into erotic Sci-Fi then this book is for you.
