Gemma thought Alex was dead, that she’d made an irreversible mistake and would never see him again. But then her father resets time and she’s given another chance to be with Alex, if she can save the world and get rid of the star.
Gemma decides to follow in her father’s footsteps and attempt to change the vision of the end of the world. If she can pull it off, then maybe she can have the normal life she’s always wanted and Alex and her can have a chance for a real future.
But changing visions is dangerous, and sometimes one small mistake can lead to disastrous results.

Jessica Sorensen is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author from the snowy mountains of Wyoming. When she's not writing, she spends her time reading and hanging out with her family.
My jaw just literally dropped with that cliffhanger I can't believe Gemma 's pregnant I had a feeling when Alex had his had on her stomach. Can't wait to read the last book.
This book was frustrating good! I seriously can't get enough of these books.
When Alex died it was such a sad thing then Gemma reset time to where he didn't I was jumping for fracking joy! I'm still not a big fan of Alex but I'm growing to like him more so.
Gemma had an awful lot of encounters during this book.
I seriously thought she would on some level end up with Laylen but to the looks of everything. Alex and Gemma are done for. I have no idea how the hell Alex is going to try and save Gemma and himself from dying. Espically now that Gemma is with child.
I just love the twists and turns of this story and never knowing whats going transpire next! Im stoked! Bring on book four! I'm ready! Lets kick some death walker, stefan ass and in the process save Gemma and Alex :)
I love Jessica Sorensen and I read all her books but this one is just pissing me off....its dragging on and I swear if Laylen touches Gemma again, I will have to kill him myself....but the ending was pretty good...I knew it was going to happen, I just felt it in my bones with all the times her and Alex had sex without a condom...but at the end I still sat there with my mouth handing open like a dumbass.
Omg the feels I got when reading this book, it was quite an exhilarating ride. I have to admit I love a new adult story that can combine fantasy/paranormal and erotica (not really erotica just a little smidge) all in one, there is just so many different thrilling elements that make the story in intense and but you on edge while reading the story. Since reading book two I’ve been getting those intense emotions non-stop. In book three again there was no slow point, no slowing down and if it did slow down you were still learning about all the what-ifs and getting answers. That alone made me want to keep on reading because truly I want to know what happens with all of the characters, what is going to happen to the world in this series and what’s going to go down to get there. Just yeah it’s really quite amazing and I’m so excited where I’m at in these especially after everything that has happened.
Gemma goes through a shit ton more in this book and it really is so easy to connect with her and understand all of her different emotions, because if you were in her position you would be the exact same way. I do love how in this book even more so she does have that take charge kind of action because she wants to get to the bottom of things, safe the world, safe Alex, her mom, Laylen and everyone else. It really is amazing what all she throws on her own shoulders and doesn’t even think about what she is doing to herself whether making herself more exhausted or getting hurt in the process. Plus the connection between her and Alex by the time this book comes around is so incredible and intense and just yeah, that’s all I can say without giving too much away, just trust me it’s amazing (again haha).
I’m going to wrap this up quickly because I really need to start the last book! I’m so freaking excited to read it and see what happens!
Finally!!! A direction for this series I’ve been begging for. I really like this series. Fallen Star was equally fantastic, but I love the progression of this story and the many directions it is taking. I am hooked right now. But unfortunately I will have to wait for book # 4. If you have any questions about this series please message me. I don’t want to give any spoilers so don’t ask.
Gemma should be with Alex ... Laylan is tragically dead !! They liked each other but that's all the thing they have is due to the feeding ... Alex is her man !!
3.0-3.5. The one was a little bit of a step backward for me, maybe because there was too little romance/heat between Alex and Gemma. I will say that most of the time, it’s not absolutely necessary to read novellas between the actual novels, but in this case, I would highly recommend reading Unbroken.
Plot: Stephan told Gemma that if she and Alex fell in love, they would both die; then he put a spell on Gemma and instructed her to kill Alex. When she realizes what she’s done, she blacks out and wakes up talking to her father, who tells her she can turn back time and change things. In fact, he wants her to turn back time and correct the mistake that he made in the past. Gemma attempts to do that, all the while avoiding Alex in fear of killing him. As is usually the case with turning back time, everything seems somehow connected, so there’s no way of knowing how changing one event will affect everything else (i.e., the Butterfly Effect).
Characters: Gemma returns as the heroine. She continues to learn more about herself and the gifts that she has. Because of what Stephan told her, throughout the book she’s constantly torn between wanting to be with Alex and knowing she shouldn’t. I mentioned that in 2.5 I liked Alex more and more because he was really starting to fall in love with Gemma. In this one, it’s really weird. One thing that always seemed to drive Alex was his desire for Gemma, and I just didn’t feel that much in this book. I would have thought knowing that they couldn’t be together would make them want to even more. Instead, in this book, Alex shows how much he cares by being more overprotective. It’s kind of like he has lost his edge.
Gemma continues to be REALLY attracted (and attractive) to Laylen. I do like Laylen; I’m just not fond of the love triangle. The chemistry just isn’t there for me between the two of them, and it may be because I want Laylen to end up with Aislin. On the subject of Aislin, her only point in this book is to work on spells. I would have liked to have seen more of her, preferably with Laylen.
Nicholas returns (mainly to teach Gemma things about her gifts). I could do without him hitting on Gemma all the time, but for reasons I can’t explain, I really like him. (It’s probably my love for any character who is misunderstood.) It’d be nice to see something good happen to him.
We learn more about Gemma’s mom and dad, too, and we find out that nothing is really as it seems.
Writing: As in the first two and a half books, there are lots of punctuation and grammatical errors. Unlike in the first two books, there aren’t as many steamy sex scenes, and there’s not even much sexual tension. I found that kind of surprising.
The Bottom Line: There is a LOT going on in this book, and even though I have read the first two novels and the novellas, I found it hard to keep up at times. Oh yeah, and there’s a HUGE cliffhanger in this one, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’m in this far, so I will definitely keep reading just to see how everything plays out.
Okay! So this book was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I read all of the fallen stars series and loved them so of course when the adult versions came out I HAD to read them! They gave me all the steamy scenes with Alex and Gemma that I couldn't find in the YA ones! The shattered promise series are PERFECT! There are no words that can describe how much I love this series.
And the ending to this book OMG!!!!!!!! I mean ITS EFFING BRILLIANT!!!!!!
I cannot wait for the next and shouted NOOOO a few times when I realised that ITS NOT F*CKING OUT YET!!! BUT, it's fine....! I took a few breaths and realised that All good things come to those who wait! So for now I will cool it with the running around the fire, chanting "give me book" and I'll do my uni work and I can't be distracted by the awesomeness that is Jessica Sorensen! I shall eagerly wait in anticipation for the new book! And perhaps get a few grey hairs in the meantime from the stress of the new plot that has arisen!! AHHHH!!!!
Another great addition to this series. Little bit of a cliffhanger ending and lots of unanswered questions assures the reader another book is on the way! Some steamy scenes add a little something to the story. Unexpected surprise ending too!! It felt like the characters grew a little more into themselves in this book. I would love to one day get Aislin's and Laylen's pov. Gemma is a frustrating character though. While she is fearless in most situations there are things that really bother me about her. I'm hoping that in the next book she can pull herself together and focus on listening to others when they try to help her, and yes sometimes it seems cloaked or in some kind of code, but she can't even do the smallest of tasks when it's told to her plain as day. Aislin is more main character material than Gemma, at least she can stay focused on a task. I am looking forward to the next book. I think the plot is brilliant and interesting.
I enjoyed the first two books but this book was rough. The book starts off with a major scene missing and you never really do find out how Alex dies, just bits and pieces. Also, Laylen’s story gets some things added that weren’t in any of the other books, like him killing a guy that’s never been mentioned. I realize the author wrote these books as YA originally and then re- released them as NA but I don’t think the copy and paste thing worked very well. There were some major grammatical errors and a thesaurus would have been helpful (the use of the word concealed in the wrong context, “he concealed his hand over my mouth.”). It was a hard read. I will read the next book because I’m not a quitter.
What the absolute hell!? That cliffhanger!! Amazing third installtion to this series! There are very few series that not only are the second and third books just as good if not better then the first book, but also leaves you begging for a fourth! can't wait to get my hands on the next one to find out more on Gemma's and Alex's adventure to save the world!
I'm amazed by the Shattered Promises series!!!! Every twist and turn keeps me wanting more. I am excited to read the next book to see what's in store for Gemma, Alex and their unborn child. What does this mean for their future and the fate that is supposed to happen to save the world?
I love any books by Jessica Sorenson and this book ends and.starts with such a cliff hanger from last time and ends suddenly in the best way. Well done Jsssica, now I need to go buy book 4!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The third main book in the series ratchets up the stakes as Gemma faces the threat of apocalyptic visions and the opportunity to alter fate itself. The narrative is a blend of supernatural suspense, romance, and time-bending twists, with Gemma fighting not just for her love but the fate of the world. The tension between hope and despair is palpable, and the themes of destiny, choice, and sacrifice are explored with emotional resonance. This installment is ideal for readers who love high-stakes paranormal romance with a strong heroine and complex plot twists.
Let me start by saying that if you haven’t yet read the novella Unbroken, you’ll need to before diving into this next installment because there are some key events you need to know about first. With Broken Vision, we’re back with this twisted band of gifted and empowered, and this time around Gemma is struggling with her own decisions that will determine the fate of the world. After her father tells her that she’s being given a second chance to fix the past by turning back time, Gemma begins to see just how much each event affects the next.
There was a definite shift in the feel for this series with this book, I felt like we went from an emotion-heavy novella with Unbroken to kind of wiping that slate clean and acting like it didn’t happen by getting back into the nitty gritty. I loved being in Alex’s head in Unbroken and seeing how much he felt for Gemma, and now that she’s gone back in time to erase events that led up to that whole situation, I was feeling like “Well, what was the point of all that, then?”. I’m glad we got to see it, though. I think Alex’s emotions are never evident enough, but you can still see that soft side of him in this installment and I think that is BECAUSE of the novella. It’s just more noticeable. That being said, there were some great twists this time around with the spiraling butterfly effect from altering the past, and the ever-entertaining Nicholas makes a memorable return. It was hard to keep up with all of the shifts sometimes, but this was definitely an exciting leg of their journey.
I will admit, I was frustrated with Gemma in this installment. Because Stephan revealed that she + Alex= a terrible fate for them both, she seemed kind of stuck on replay with the whole “we can’t be together because of what we are” mantra, and I wanted her to stop dwelling on it. Even Alex, who we all love for his mastery at being a cocky ass, just took on the role of protector instead of really putting up a fight for his woman. And Laylen…le sigh. I love him, but he needs to not be a factor for Gemma at all anymore, especially after the MAJOR cliffhanger that leaves you cursing that last page. At this point I’m in this series for the long haul, but I’m hoping we get back to the awesome chemistry and all-or-nothing connection between these characters that I love!
Quotes:
He kisses me back without any hesitation, as if he has no control over the situation or anything else, and honestly, I don’t think either of us does. We’re prisoners to our lust, want, need, a million different things that feel like they own me all the damn time and I’m giving in. ~Loc 371
But I know that’s not the case. I realize as Alex kisses me, slipping in and out of me, touching me more than anyone ever has, that I feel more for him than I’ll ever let myself admit. ~Loc 400
“It’s what I want.” But it isn’t really. I want him, but I can’t have him. Not anymore. ~Loc 1505
So far, “Broken Visions” by Jessica Sorensen is the best book out of the series! Plot thickens, emotions deepen and characters develop further in this paranormal story.
I’ve enjoyed the characters throughout the “Shattered Promises” series. Sorensen gives us more to love in her third installment. Gemma started out as the blank slate main character. In Book One, she found her emotions. In Book Three we learn that Alex was responsible for that development. Now Gemma is dealing with so many emotions that she wishes she could go back in time. But, only for a minute. Alex continues to be a brick wall. He does a great job of hiding his emotions but Gemma is putting all sorts of chinks in the concrete. By the end of the book he’s having a real struggle with his own emotions. “Broken Visions” was clearly only about these two characters. Laylen, Aislen and Shasta have very minor roles. And, poor Nicholas, the mobile Renuzit air freshener fairie, meets an almost tragic end.
The character of Gemma is like a giant rose with many petals. Pull back a petal and learn something new–emotions, powers, relationships. This time we learn about her father, another Foreseer, and more about her mother. Oh, and the little rose has a ‘bud’ in development.
I love Sorensen’s handling of time travel. Instead of the usual contrived and obvious ways of travel, crystal balls and even spontaneous visions send the MC into the past or into the future. Gemma learns that she is a rare Foreseer/Keeper who has great powers. She can concentrate and travel to where ever she needs to be.
The only thing I disliked about “Broken Visions”? The next book in the series hasn’t been released yet! I’ve already pre-ordered mine.
I have mixed feelings about this book. One half of me is screaming how amazing it is and the other half is slapping myself in the face asking why I read this. Don't get me wrong, the book is great, it's more what's happens that makes me want to punch myself.
As usual Gemma is confused, out of the loop with everything, but she's learning. I love watching - is that the right word? - this character grow into the Keeper/Forseer/woman she was always intended to become. It's even more amazing seeing how much her relationship with Alex has progressed throughout out the series. I especially loved her little encounter with Aislin.
Aislin is such an underrated character, I hope we get to see more of her in the final instalment of this series. Her heart-to-heart with Gemma was needed for both characters and it was great to see Aislin emotionally vulnerable in a way that actually felt personal and not hysterical. #AislinandLaylenforlife. Even Laylen is an underrated character, yes he can come across as irritating. Almost Stefan Salvatore like with his constant inner battle with his blood lust. I hope that Laylen's feelings for Aislin becomes obvious in the next book and that this confusion between him wanting Gemma's blood and his feelings of friendship for Gemma gets fixed.
It's irritating. The love triangle needs to stop.
Anyways. This book is beautifully written it's vivid descriptions of the way events occur in the book and also the scenery around them. Seriously I wish the Keepers Castle was a real place. It's sounds so nice!
So, 4 stars for an amazing read!
Could've been 5 if it wasn't for the awkwardness between Laylen and Gemma.
Man I finished this book in one day then went back and read the last few chapters again lol… just loved it this is the best yet of the Shattered promises. Just love Gemma I will admit that I was one of the girls that was on the fence about her and Alex I mean they were hot together but I really just wanted her and Laylen to do it just once lol…. Then we have Nickolas and he is so freaking funny he lives to make Gemma crazy. This story picks up where book 2.5 leaves us with Gemma possessed. She has some serious choices to make. And they are coming fast. She now has her mom back and her life and now her father as well. But she also has this whole saving the world thing to worry about. And to top it all off she doesn't know who she can trust. Then she leans some new information about her and Alex.
Gemma makes the decision to follow in her father’s footsteps and attempt to change the vision of the end of the world. If she can pull it off, then maybe she can have the normal life she’s always wanted with Alex. But changing visions is dangerous, and everyone is letting her know just how serious this is. But the end results are totally worth it. Gemma and Laylen become really good friends in this one. And Gemma and Alex and still hot and cold, hot and cold. And let me tell you that when they are hot they heat things up. I really loved the ending and how things were set up. Cannot wait for the next book.
