Good, but incomplete and rushed.

I really enjoyed the premise of this.
However, the delivery was shallow and too fast, without the depth or detail needed to make it come alive.

We got a quick, rushed intro to the characters and world.
Kinda like an outline, or the main key points and plot details, but none of the filler that connects all of it.

In essence, this was the first or second finished draft, but not the final, polished, and complete novel.

Should the author ever go back and finish, I would be interested in giving it another go.
Not sure at this time if i will continue with the series…

Re-read of older book. When shifter H saves the h's life, he discovers that she's human and he can't mate with her. Later the h and her sister help the pack throwing them together again. Now the H makes a stand; he can't live without her. The writing is awkward but the plot is good. I liked the setting with differences between cultures.

Let me be up front I have a love hate relationship with shifter type books at times. I have to admit that I really like the whole alpha thing but sometimes I get tired of them being too alpha and sometines I get tired of them needing to bonk every two seconds, so this means that sometimes I want an alpha without him being 'too alpha'. My other issue is sometimes the females in shifter books can also lack a backbone or come across as a b! tch. What I liked about this shifter book was that the aplha, Maverick, had all the alpha characteristics you expect from a wolf book, but he was also a sweetie, and the heroine, Rory, had a backbone but was not a b! tch, she was nice. And then on top of this there was nice chemistry and heat between Rory and Maverick, I could feel it between them, but there was no bonking every two seconds just to prove they are wolves which made for a nice change. There was also alot of humour in the book that made me smile alot.

But to do this review justice I have to say that I think there will be quite a few readers out there who like shifter books but would find the smex scenes in this book a little too tame and not discriptive enough. I also think these same readers would also want the hero to be a bit more alpha. And I have to admit that although it was lovely to read about nice shifters that were not over the top, at times I was looking for a little more 'oomph' from the characters.

The story was nice and it kept me engaged, I wanted to know what would happen and wanted to see were everything was all leading, but at the same time I was waiting for something to grab me and make me go "wow". There were also a few editing issues, nothing that made you re read sentences, but ones that were obvious. I do find this a little distracting.

However, I enjoyed this book enough that I wanted to know what happened next, and I brought the next one. And if you are wondering what I thought of that, I liked it alot. More than this one, it had the oomph that was missing from this one, but was still sweet.

Will I read this again? Not sure

Enjoyable new series with promise. Great chemistry, characters and plot lines. The POV changes were a little erratic and made it difficult to follow. I would suggest noting the change with more spacing between paragraphs or holding out for a switch until a new chapter. The book was also a little rushed. Would have liked to spend more time with the couple. Can't wait for Willow/Ryder and Faith/Ranger! :)

I liked the idea of this story but felt it needed a bit of work. There were some editing problems and the book kept switching POVs which got tiresome. I did like the characters and the plot was entertaining. Hope to see more from the author in the future.

GREAT! paranormal/shifter story that is the beginning of what looks to be an AWESOME series! Plenty of Alpha males with women who are strong enough to be their mates without overshadowing the yummy males we're all looking to read about :) TERRIFIC job, Ms. Leite!

Holy cow!!! This book had me from page 1. The interaction of the characters was flawless. The only thing I wish was that you got a little more of Mavericks background.

Let me start by saying I liked this book despite it's flaws. But I would be lying if I said there weren't many flaws. The book lacks body language and jumps from one persons head to another's...which got a little confusing at times. Despite that and word confusion/choice issues I enjoyed this book enough to buy the next one in the series.

Maverick is future alpha of his pack and meets his true mate by chance after a bird bath (that we never really discover how it came to be crushing Rory only that it was crooked. I'm guessing she was trying to move it but was she lying under it? Because she couldn't move it according to it's massively over stated weight.) pins a dying Rory to the ground. He removes the heavy birdbath and scoops her up to carry her to his clinic...

Only it's a big no, no to take her there and he gets into trouble with his alpha... ex-girlfriend drama ensues and Rory gets left for a month with a stalker (Maverick) hovering out her window watching her every move...

He gets balls and comes for her mating her against his fathers approval. A feral wolf attacks her before he can turn her almost killing Rory but Willow (her sister) manages to save her and she ends up being a rare white wolf. Meaning that what they thought was going to be a hard sell ( a turned human as the alpha's mate) becomes easy... leaving them happily mated and in love...

Aww so for me this was a SEPE or 4-star read... with more body langue and separation between head jumps this could have been a five star read.

I'm only human. Right?

What an intense opening!
I love the characters, the dialogue, and what's revealed about the town, so far.
When Maverick rescues Rory from near death, he knows two things immediately; she is human, and she is His!
The human thing is the problem. He is Alpha, and next in line to lead his pack. As Alpha, his first born will follow him as next Alpha. He can't take a chance on having a human child first. His father denies the match, so even though he's sure Rory feels the pull also, he stays away... sort of.
He keeps an eye on her at night to be sure she's safe.
Both of them are miserable.
The mating fever won't be denied, and even though there are other complications, they decide to mate, no matter what.
Now one of Maverick's brothers finds himself drawn to Willow, Rory's sister.
He is determined to deny it, because he fears her psychic abilities. Her abilities are what have kept any of her relationships with men brief.
Willow is hurt, and disappointed, but she is a proud woman, and decides she will forget him, and move on.
Easier said than done!
Find out what happens as a human woman becomes, not just pack, but a very important member.
Willow will be accepted as pack, because she is not only sister to the Alpha heir's mate, she has pack friend status due to her help when they needed it.
Read this first book in the series to see what happens to Rory and Willow, and how they affect the pack, and how the pack affects them.
I highly recommend this series!

Btw a bad start

I'm not a great fan of shifter books but this one was not too bad. A bit sketchy and predictable but a decent story. Some editing with regard to paragraphs would have been helpful when changing characters and viewpoint. Don't know if I will follow the series though.

Shifted

WOW, this one of the best shifter books I've read in awhile. I'm an avid reader and I've read quite a FeedBurner stories and each has been different in It's own way. I loved this one because it didn't beat around the bush about the change and the mating pull. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Although short in length, Lynn Leite's "Shifted" packs plenty of action and romance in its pages. Sometimes you just want a quick read, but that doesn't mean lowering your expectations of an author.

The book provided a great plot and well developed characters, but the editing could have used some work. Not so much punctuation, but word usage cause the eye to stumble. "Ridged" instead of "rigid" (not "rippled" but "immovable") and "precede" instead of "proceed" (not "coming before" but "going forward") interrupt the flow of the story in small but perceptible ways. The intimate scenes with Rory and Maverick could have used some more descriptive heat; great passion is expected where shifters are involved. Fortunately, these doesn't prevent readers from enjoying the tale.

The story is so engaging (and Maverick comes with siblings!) that you can't help but want to read more in the series.

(I discovered this author on the shelves of my new "Goodreads" friend, Frances...it's great to find new authors and people who share their love of reading by rating books and writing reviews!)

Rory's sister the psychic said her life would be shifted but never elaborated so when she ends up being squished by a bird bath only to be rescued by Dr. Cheveyo she figures that her sister could have been a bit more forthcoming.

Maverick happiest day ever turns into a day from hell when his father tells him he can't claim his mate because an Alpha wolf can't mate with a human. Rory is his and he wants her but to protect her he leaves without claiming not knowing that she feel the mate fever almost as strongly as he does but she has no clue why until chance brings them together again.

This story centers around Maverick's fathers opposition to his mating a human and the feelings of emptiness the couple endure because of his ruling. Added in a drama queen she wolf with delusions of mating the future alpha and her rogue brother and his trauma and you have the makings of a short but sweet love story.

Shifted by Lynn Leite was a fun, highly readable book that I devoured in one sitting.

I love shifter books, and while Shifted wasn't overly hot and smexy, it did have a collection of characters that I soon felt compassion for and wanted to follow. Likewise, the storyline concept was great, and the plot was developed in a way that provided enough depth, detail and intrigue to keep me absorbed and flipping the page.

The author's style was smooth and really easy to follow; this allowed Shifted to be an easy and thoroughly enjoyable read. The author managed to successfully raise my pulse rate with moments of tension, break my heart a little with many tender and upsetting moments, and set the story up beautifully for the next in the series. I will definitely be picking up a copy of book two.

This was a short novel that centers around the meeting of Rory and Maverick. Maverick came to the rescue of Rory after she nearly died from being crush by a lawn statue. This was really no different than a hundred other werewolf inspired paranormal romance novels but I still enjoyed it immensely. The characters were charming, the story good. There have been several reviews that mention the poor to nonexistent editing of this book, and I'd agree much could have been corrected with a few good rewrites. Perhaps the author jumped to publish too quickly, or perhaps she couldn't afford a good editor. To that....I'm not sure. But even with all the errors I still loved the story....so much so I've purchased both the second and third book of this series. I'd even go so far as to say, to any 'were loving romance novel readers'....get ready to enjoy the next couple of hours:-)

Great start

Great start

I really enjoyed this book & think it is a good start of a series. The H&H were both likable & I'm glad the author didn't drag the story out with excuses not to be together or minute detail. I recommend this book.
