Me gusta que, a diferencia de otros mangas eternos, en este primer tomo se establece el conflicto primero, se resuelve; se establece el conflicto segundo (y al parecer, principal), se resuelve. Quizás la historia es un cachitín lineal pero no por eso mala o aburrida. El dibujo, eso sí, le saca muchas cabezas (sobre todo las impresionantes escenas a lápiz) y lo haría merecedor de cuatro estrellitas de por sí. Pero como seguro va a ir mejorando, eso queda para más adelante. De momento, me parece una serie entretenida, relativamente original y de la que sin dudas dan ganas de leer más.

Nunca llegué a poder terminar la Espada del Inmortal y ahora empiezo relectura con la intención de terminar la colección entre mi hermano y la biblioteca aprovechando que estoy en Madrid.
Adoro las historias de venganza, amo el estilo de dibujo, los planos de no sé qué hace tu pie ahí Manji pero muy bien todo, el contexto histórico y el carisma de este manga. Es que es totalmente mi estilo de historia.

On pourrait penser que les histoires de sabre sont légion dans le monde du manga. Pourtant, ce genre n'est pas si commun que ça, et qui plus est, rarement orienté réaliste, et de qualité.
L'Habitant de l'Infini (Mugen no Juunin) est un de ces titres. Saupoudré d'un soupçon de fantastique (pour justifier la violence extrême des combats du personnage principal), l'histoire nous plonge dans le japon médiéval, où nous suivrons le conflit entre une jeune fille en quête de revanche, un samurai immortel en quête de rédemption, et une nouvelle école de sabre qui veut faire perdurer l'art du combat armé dans une époque où les combattants ne sont plus seigneurs.
Le scénario n'est pas spécialement original (même si correctement construit et bourré de bons rebondissements). Mais est-ce là ce qu'on veut d'un récit de sabre? Personnages principaux et secondaires sont tous écrits avec brio, et on prend plaisir à les aimer ou à les détester. Les combats sont dynamiques, grâce au trait exceptionnel de Samura, et chaque case est un régal pour les yeux. Mention spéciale au weapon porn de l'auteur, chaque arme est unique, on sent que c'est sa grande passion.
Mon art de la conclusion étant, comme ce manga, à mi-chemin entre la réalité et la fiction, je ne saurais assez conseiller de lire cette œuvre.

Blade of the Immortal (Vol. 1-31)
Blade of the Immortal (Japanese: 無限の住人 Hepburn: Mugen no Jūnin, lit. "The Inhabitant of Infinity") is a Japanese seinen manga series by Hiroaki Samura. The series is set in Japan during the mid-Tokugawa Shogunate period and follows the samurai Manji, cursed with eternal life, who now has to kill 1000 evil men in order to regain his mortality. The series ran from 1993 to 2012, and has garnered itself quite a fan following and now has several animated and movie adaptions.
The Blade of the Immortal series is perhaps one of my top favorite manga series of all time and I’ve read a lot of manga in my life. I’m still not completely sure what it is about this series that worked for me; all I know is it did. The truth is it is a very dark, violent, historical manga with elements of fantasy and mysticism. Much of it involves very gritty and gory sword fighting scenes and super fascinating cast of characters, heroes, villains and all shades in between. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat, if you manage push past the first few chapters, which can be very confusing honestly. Once you get into the meat of it though, it becomes enthralling, disturbing and even emotional. And the art...well it’s exquisite and only improves as you continue through the volumes... Check it.
WOW. Epic no? So this is Manji, our cursed yet extremely skilled samurai hero (anti-hero?) who is on a quest to kill 1000 evil men in oder to relieve himself of this curse and die peacefully. So it all starts when he is the cause of the death of 100 good samurai, due to his criminal actions, and is cursed to immortality, (by means of "sacred bloodworms" (血仙蟲 kessen-chū) that allow him to survive nearly every injury and even reattach dismembered limbs, by a 800-year-old nun. After a tragic turn of events he then vows to make amends for his sins that will allow his curse to be ended. This dark endeavor for redemption causes him much sorrow and suffering, but Manji always manages to persevere. His life only gets more complicated, however, when he meets Rin.
Manji later crosses paths with a young girl, named Asano Rin, and promises to help her avenge her parents, who were killed by a group of master swordsmen led by the mysterious and evil Anotsu Kagehisa. Anotsu killed Rin's father and his entire dōjō, making them a family of outcasts. Anotsu's quest is to gather other outcasts and form an extremely powerful new dojo, the Ittō-ryū (a school teaching any technique that wins, no matter how exotic or underhanded), and has started taking over and destroying other dojos, and threatens to defy the honorable system of the samurai realm.
Manji and Rin team up together to hunt down the savage Anotsu, which leads them on a perilous adventure, down a simultaneous path of revenge and redemption. I love the platonic dynamic between Manji and Rin. This series is a wonderfully thought out read, amazing illustrated and filled to the brim with action, excitement, mystery, and suspense and of course, a load of violent sword fighting scenes. There are a series of other interesting characters that I will not go into in this review, but suffice it to say, Blade of the Immortal is a read to remember. I highly recommend this to seinen manga fans, but not to the squeamish or faint of heart. This is a very graphic series.

Das Cover des ersten Bandes fand ich sehr ansprechend. Zu sehen ist der Protagonist Manji, welcher dem Betrachter kampfbereit mit Schwert entgegenblickt und dabei sehr bedrohlich wirkt. Dass das Cover dabei wie eine Bleistiftzeichnung wirkt, finde ich sehr gelungen. Das macht neugierig und hat mich beherzt zugreifen lassen.
Eigener Eindruck:
Manji ist ein vogelfreier Samurai. Mit dem Mord an seinem Schwager hat er gegen den Ehrenkodex der Samurai verstoßen und wird nun von allen gejagt. Mit seiner scheinbar schwachsinnigen Schwester, die den Mord an ihrem Mann nicht verkraftet hat und in ein kindliches Verhalten zurückgefallen ist, zieht er durch die Lande und kümmert sich um sie. Als seine Schwester entführt und ermordet wird, stellt sich Manji einer Horde Kämpfern und wird dabei schwer verletzt. Eine alte Frau bietet dem Sterbenden an ihn unsterblich zu machen, wenn er im Gegenzug 1000 böse Menschen tötet. Manji geht diesen Deal ein und wird fortan von Blutwürmern am Leben gehalten, welche jede Verletzung heilen, egal wie schwer sie ist.
Währenddessen wird ein Dojo-Meister samt seiner Familie und seinen Schülern von einem ehemaligen Schüler niedergemetzelt, da er einst angeblich einen Fehler begangen hat. Einzig die Tochter – Rin – kann überleben und schwört Rache. Mit Hilfe des sagenumwobenen Manji will sie ihre Familie rächen und beginnt mit ihm eine blutige Reise quer durch Japan, bei der Manji sich endlich beweisen kann.
Der Auftakt der 26teiligen Serie „Blade oft he Immortal“ aus der Feder des Mangaka Hiroaki Samura hat es wirklich in sich. Der Mangaka begeistert durch actionreiche Szenen und vor allem durch detaillierte Zeichnungen und Szenen. Genau so muss ein guter Manga sein. Man kommt gut hinterher und die Erklärungen in der Story tun ihr übriges. Die Charakterdesigns des Mangaka sind außerdem absolut fantastisch. Auch wenn er mit Übertreibungen arbeitet und plötzlich magische Elemente mit auftauchen tut das der Geschichte keinen Abbruch. Im Gegenteil. Außerdem schafft es der Mangaka durch seine Geschichte zu fesseln und zwingt den Leser sogar bei der einen oder anderen Szene den Atem anzuhalten, was wirklich große klasse ist. Manji als Charakter wirkt zu Beginn recht verschroben und abweisend, aber je weiter man ihn und Rin auf ihrer Reise begleitet, desto mehr kann er begeistern und man muss ihn einfach ins Herz schließen.
Fazit:
Ein wirklich interessanter Auftakt und lesenswert für Freunde rund um Samurai-Geschichten. Besonders das männliche Publikum hat hier wohl seinen Spaß, da es neben recht actionreichen auch sehr blutrünstige Szenen gibt.

Mi segundo manga favorito. La calidad del dibujo es, sencillamente, espectacular, sobre todo la de manos y pies (las partes más difíciles del cuerpo para dibujar).
Seinen con alto nivel de gore.
Por el lado de la historia, es apabullante la cantidad de personajes. A todos se les coge afinidad, cariño empatía o respeto sean del bando que sean y sea cual sea la primera impresión que te hayan dado.
El villano principal al principio no lo aparenta, y el primero que te presentan como el malo malísimo luego lo redimen.
También hay personajes que cambian de rol, saliéndose del establecido en un principio y, de repente, el débil se convierte en el fuerte y resolutivo y viceversa.

Katastrofalan, nelektoriran prijevod i loša štampa (dizajn naslovnica neću ni komentirati) nisu jedini krivci što ovaj strip ima prosječan početak. Samurino vizualno pričanje priče je u prve dvije knjige dosta konfuzno, i nije baš pretjerano jasno kamo serijal ide. U svakom slučaju, ako ste mislili čitati ovu mangu, zaobiđite Algoritmovo izdanje pod svaku cijenu.

Premisa sencilla y directa, pero que funciona muy bien. Me encantan todos los personajes (incluso los que odio), están muy bien construidos y me interesaron sus historias y motivaciones. Tiene buen ritmo. A veces es un poco gore, pero no me resultó desagradable. Y bueno, el estilo de dibujo es espectacular.

El primer tomo es entretenido presentando un poco a los protagonistas de la historia, el detalle es que las batallas siento que son bastante rápidas y apresuradas.

La historia y el dibujo son increíbles, el final cumple perfectamente, pero sin duda lo rompe con los clímax que va creando, quedándome con ese girito en la cárcel que nunca podré olvidar

Premis awal yang ditawarkan barangkali terkesan biasa. Hidup abadi, balas dendam, perjalanan. Cukup banyak manga bergenre serupa dengan tema seperti itu.
Lalu apa yang berbeda? Untuk jilid I ini yg baru terlihat oleh sy adalah artwork Samura sensei yang luar biasa. Adegan slayer yang kejam dan arsiran pensil yang apik.

4.5-5 estrellas (manga completo)
Un gran manga lleno de personajes oscuros y retorcidos que, aunque parte de una idea que puede parecer simple (historia de venganza), se desarrolla muy bien y va mostrando conflictos cada vez más interesantes. Empieza siendo una historia más simple y va creciendo hasta acabar con unos arcos muy buenos. Por si acaso, diré también que a parte de la violencia ya esperada, a lo largo de los tomos hay algunas escenas bastante explícitas e impactantes, como alguna violación.
En conclusión, los enemigos, algunos de ellos bastante macabros y otros muy interesantes, dan mucho juego al arco de los protagonistas y también de los propios antagonistas. Un muy buen manga de samuráis con combates llenos de movimiento. Recomendado.

An interesting premise in which a swordman guilty of murdering 100 innocents decides to do penance by killing 1000 evil people. He is both gifted and cursed with immortality. Set in a loosely portrayed Tokugawa era Japan.
The artwork is not run of the mill manga fare and is lovely, BUT be warned it has some very graphic violence-especially in fight sequences. Not for the faint-hearted in this area.

I read this book for a comic book book club I am currently in. I read this a long time ago, about 7+ years ago. I didn't appreciate just how spectacular it was back then. The are style is amazing and the story line is interesting as well. It has the potential to be deep and dark, and at times is really deep and dark. However, it doesn't stay that way. There are always well placed moments of humor. I found it a really enjoyable piece to read. I intend to finish the series.
