She had no idea how much her life was about to change.
An accident caused them to meet, but as Vessa tries to know more about Ramsey, she discovers he is haunted by his past. After exhausting all options, she decides to try a different approach. One way or another, she's going to get to know the secretive sheriff.
Hustle Him is a rollercoaster of real life emotions. Sometimes it only takes a common interest for someone to open up again.
Jennifer Foor is an award winning Contemporary Romance Author. She's best known for the Mitchell Family Series, which includes ten books. She is married with two children and spends most of her time behind a keyboard, creating and writing stories straight from her heart.
Thank you so much Jennifer Foorfor asking me to beta read for you. I can't express enough how happy I am for getting the opportunity to read this book.
Hustle Him was so much more then just a romance book or a book about hustling someone. This book was beyond emotionally for me. It was heart breaking and at the same time beautiful. I totally fell in love with this book. I can't express enough the emotions I felt reading this book. It will stay with me always.
Ramsey beside being damn sexy, he is also the sweetest man, but he is also extremely broken. An unspeakable tragedy occurs and it destroys Ramsey. He is broken and doesn't want to be fix, he doesn't think he deserves to be happy and he just doesn't want to be happy.
I didn't deserve this solitary life that I was being forced to live in. I'd rather be dead than to feel this emptiness every day for the rest of my life.
Not until he meets Vessa. She is beautiful, sweet, a wonderful mom and extremely strong. Vessa's is married to Gavin (only good thing about him is his name)and she is not happily married. Her married is important to her and tries to make it work not for only them but also for their children. She will do whatever she can to make them happy, her family happy. Forgive and forget can only take you so far. Vessa is broken and not sure if true love is even real, not until she meets Ramsey....
Our story was far from being romantic. Some may have said that we rushed into it. Others have said that it was a relationship based on two people rebounding. We didn't care. Our love was real and we were happy.
Could Vessa help Ramsey live and love again and can Ramsey fix her broken heart? Well get reading to find out!
What a wonderful book!!! I really enjoyed this one. I would say Jennifer hit this one out of the park. I would recommend it to everyone. This was my second book from this author and I can't wait to read more.
My 1st book by Jennifer Foor was Hope’s Chance then I read Letting Go (Mitchell Family, #1) closely following the other 6 books lol. I freaking love the Mitchell Family. I also read Diary of a Male Maid and now she has released Hustle Me (Bank Shot Romance, #1) series. To say that I am a huge fan would be an understatement. I just finished reading Jennifer’s latest book Hustle Him (Bank Shot Romance # 2) . I was not let down with this book. It was everything I expected it would be and more. I have not read one of Jennifer’s books and not enjoyed it. I cant want to for the latest Mitchell Family book to come out this summer.
Hustle Him (Bank Shot Romance # 2) was more than a love story of boy meets girl. This book had me sold from the 1st chapter. It was about a man a woman finding happiness with each other after a ton of heartache and heartbreak. It was a very emotional book. I loved Jammer and Charlie in the first book Hustle Me, but I also fell in love with Ramsey and Vessa just the same… the story took us on an emotionally roller coaster ride to the very end. It is a must read. Ramsey is going through his own personal hell he lost his family a year ago. Vessa is trying to move on with her life with her 2 kids after leaving her terrible cheating good for nothing husband. Which bring them to meet the two try to fight their attraction for one another because they feel that the last thing they want is to be involved.. Vessa’s aunt has other plans for the two, as much as they tried to stay away from each other there attraction just grew stronger and eventually brings them together and they have to fight to stay together! And let’s not leave out the hustle of pool in this one as well lol. I loved every minute of the book. It only took me a day to read.
I had the privilege to read an ARC copy of this book from Jennifer Foor and I will say this book was AMAZING. I don't want to say much because I don't want to give anything away. I will say that this book was one of her best by far. There was so much emotion and feeling in this book, it had me crying, laughing, yelling and smiling. I couldn't put it down!!! I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.
Wow wow wow.this book was amazing, if you love Jenn Foor's books you will not be disappointed. I found Hustle Him to be different to Hustle me, Hustle him is more then a romance book, it takes you on an emotional journey of two broken people. It was heart breaking but beautiful, you will easily fall in love with both Ramsey and Vessa.
Ramsey is damn sexy not only that he is sweet, caring and extremely broken. When tragedy strikes it destroys Ramsey, it breaks him he thinks he doesn't deserve to be happy or to be fixed. Ramsey becomes a different person he keeps to himself doesn't talk to anyone, he keeps a low profile in a new town as the towns sheriff where no one knows him. He is sailing through life on his own with the exception of Sue the owner of the local bar he drinks and eats at most nights. Vessa is a beautiful, sweet, strong and caring mother and married to a douche named Gavin. While Vessa is stuck in a loveless marriage she stays and fights for the sake of her kids. Vessa finally snaps she is broken and wants someone to love her for her so she leaves.
One night there is an accident Ramsey is called out to involving a women and two children, Ramsey soon finds out these people are related to Sue and goes to the hospital to make sure she is ok. Sue starts to 'push' Ramsey and Vessa together, everyone needs a friend... Vessa can see Ramsey is broken and tries to get to know him to help him, one night they start a game of pool together the looser has to answer questions giving Vessa her chance to start her hustle... Ramsey and Vessa are both attracted to each other, as much as he is attracted to Vessa he starts to push her away in his mind he doesn't deserve to be happy. As much as Ramsey fights his attraction to Vessa they are both drawn to each other, after one night together Ramsey hits rock bottom and decides to make some changes. Ramsey gets away and tries to deal with his the moment that destroyed his life, when he returns he is a changed man and decides to start living life again and take a chance on his attraction to Vessa. Vessa is not short in the drama department with her ex...
When Ramsey and Vessa finally get together its HOT!!!! Ramsey and Vessa start opening up to each other helping each other through the things that broke them, they start to fall in love...
I loved this book it was an emotional journey for both Ramsey and Vessa, they had an amazing connection and the sexual chemistry between them phoaw!!! If you have read and loved Jenn Foor's books you will will love this one.
What a great book in the Hustle series!! While I liked Jammer and Charlie in the first book Hustle Me, I was glad to see new characters and the game of pool as the constant in the story.
This one is a bit of a tear jerker, but in a good way if that is even possible. Ramsey has had the worst thing happen to him, losing his wife and child in a tragic accident. Of course this leaves him a broken, shell of a man not looking for any human contact. He spends his days working as a sheriff of a small town and his nights drinking his memories away.
Vessa is in a sham of a marriage to her high school sweetheart with two young kids to take care of. Her husband is a dog, which everybody seems to know but her. She finally wises up and leaves his sorry ass and goes to live with her aunt in the small town that Ramsey happens to be the sheriff of.
While another accident brings them together the first time, the game of pool keeps them together. I love how the story centers around the game, and makes me wish I took my husband more seriously when he tried to teach me how to play. There are some mighty sexy scenes on that pool table (with Jenn, I wouldn't expect less)and the story comes full circle with the game of pool as the star. Another winner for Jenn Foor!!
5 Solid Stars wasn't enough to rate this book. its been one hell of a roller coaster ride for me reading this. Hell I enjoyed every minute of it. In the first few pages its really devastated to know what happen to Ramsey. I like their story more than the first book, Its touches me so poorly and never been so happy for Vessa and Ramsey till the end. Things are getting better and better as their story continues. I understand why Vessa felt to protect her children to his ex-dick Gavin her whole life she devoted it to him and loving him faithfully. I felt sorry for his to your girlfriend. The story of Vesasa and Ramsey is really touching. This things happen in real world. They met under the circumstance that Ramsey didn't want to revived his painful past. But I'm so damn proud of him that he pact his bag and go and face his own demon.
You did a fantastic job Jennifer. I loved and even touched by their story even more. This is truly amazing story. Ican,t wait for Book 3 to come out real soon.
Plot: Vessa leaves her cheating husband, takes her kids and runs off to bartend her aunts' bar. Ramsey has lost his wife and kid in a car crash and now works as the towns Sheriff. An accident brings these two together.
My thoughts: Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind to read this but I just wasn't feeling anything special with this couple. I never really felt any sympathy for them, neither was I happy for them when they got together. I am a bit disappointed because I really liked hustle me but this follow up didn't live up to the first one.
I absolutely loved this story more than the first book!! Ramsey goes through his own personal hell when he loses his family. And Vessa is trying to move with her life with her 2 kids after leaving husband, which in the end their losses bring them to meet and try to fight their attraction for one another. But as much as they tried to stay away from each other there attraction just grew stronger and eventually brings them together and they have to fight to stay together! I loved this book and Ramsey and Vessa. EVERYBODY should definitely read this book!!!
As always Jennifer Foor has given me another AWESOME READ! I LOVED this book ~ it's an emotional read for darn sure, I cried, I laughed and swooned ~ full review to come ~ TOTALLY 5 stars!!!
This was a very weepy story, I loved Vessa and Ramsey was a dream, my heart did cry out for him as his story was so sad, i got caught right up in this story, it kept you within it on every page and the characters all had depth even the kids. To me this book was a lot better than "hustle me" i did enjoy hustle me but didnt think i wanted to read anymore from this series but as i love the authors "mitchell series" i decided to give it a chance, i think the author is geting a feel for what she wants out of this series as this one was very very good, i would love for it to be like the mitchell series and here more of Ramsey and Vessa but i dont think it will be, anyway another great book Jennifer, i love your mitchell series and i will read anymore books you write, great book, well worth buying.
What do you do when you don't want to live after the devastation you've suffered gets to be to much? You move away from everything you ever knew and start over in a place where no one knows your story. That's exactly what Ramsey did when his world was torn apart.
When Vessa found out that her whole life had been a lie and she was the laughing stock of the whole town, she did the exact same thing.
With the help of Sue the local bar owner who is also Vessa's aunt these 2 broken people learned how to be friends again, but with all of the haunting memories of their pasts will they be able to hold onto their friendship?
Broken hearts are hard to heal when you're not sure you want to mend them.
Oh my Goodness, I can't believe I didn't read this book when it was first released! I knew I would eventually read it, because I love Jenn Foor's writing. I guess I just thought the first book in the series was great, but not fantastic. Well, this book is phenomenal! I absolutely loved it! From the very first few pages, I was hooked! I loved the emotions conveyed for Ramsey's situation. I would recommend this book and if you read Hustle Me and have been on the fence like I was, Hustle Him is 100 times better!
Jennifer Foor is one of those authors u can't get enough of. Her books are full of real emotions that touch your heart. I love this story and even though it had its rough moments & touched deep real life problems, I was glad to see love & second chances win over everything else. You can never go wrong reading one off Jennifer's books. She knows how to touch u from your heart to every other part of your body ❤
This book was a bit different than anything Jennifer Foor has written (aside from the billiards/pool theme of the Bank Shot Romance Series) but this book was so awesome. It seemed very adult, not in the sexual scenes, but grown up. I loved that. It seemed real, it seemed like something that could happen. Raw. I just could not put it down. I totally saw this as a movie playing out.
"If anyone in the world was going to hustle me, I wanted it to be Vessa. That woman had my permission to do whatever she wanted with me."
Hmmm.. Did I like this book? Yeaah. Did I love it? Not really.. =\. I loved the first one, really loved it, it was hot, really really hot, full of intrigues, secrets, and with characters really captivating..
I'm not saying that Vessa and Ramsey weren't interesting characters, but they were just.. I don't even know how to explain it. Their relationship was way too predictable.. At 50% of the book they were already together and, except for Vessa's ex-husband, everything was perfect in the world..
The interesting part was the way JF treated grief and life after loss in general..
"When I lost my girls, I lost all of my reasons for living. I didn't want to survive that accident. I shouldn't have."
"I was a broken man and I couldn't be fixed."
Ramsey's emotions were really captivating sometimes. Especially after his first night with Vessa. The guilt he felt was really heartbreaking.. And reading about him figuring out that he had to move on and that doing it didn't mean that he was betraying his "girls".. It was really amazing. I would have loved to read more about the process. When he went to see his parents, when he faced his memories in his old town..
Don't get me wrong, I liked their love story too. How she managed to get him to open up without even realizing it.. The scene at his house, when he finally let it all out was heartwrenching..
"With you by my side, each day hurts less than the one before it."
And how he managed to make her believe that her life wasn't over. That she could love again, be happy again.
""Life's not fair, Vessa. You should know that more than anyone. If it was fair, you'd be happy and you're not. There's only one thing that's going to fix your broken heart." She put her hands on her hips. "Oh yeah, what's that?" "Me!""
Together they learn to move on. They learn to accept the past and to be happy for what they still have.. They learn that things happen for a reason. That through despair can come something beautiful.
"I hadn't known him my whole life. It wasn't love at first sight. It wasn't even a beautiful love story, but it was out story."
One last thing.. I don't really notice those kind of things normaly, but there were really a LOT of spelling and punctuation mistakes. So much that it made it hard to understand sometimes..
I want to cry...I thought this would be available today for my Nook, but it's not listed yet.
UPDATE May 9th Finally, B&N released Hustle Him and I devoured it in a day! I was really hyped for this book because I loved the first one so much and I absolutely drooled when I saw the cover!!! Holy HOTNESS batman, the cover of this book makes my toes curl. With that said, I was a tad disappointed in this one. Although it started out great and had me hooked right away, it began to fall a little flat from the middle towards the end. BUT...I did enjoy it just not as much as the first. I must say that the "Ex" Gavin is a giant Douche and I was very pleased with his outcome. I was a little upset with Vessa towards the end of the book for letting Gavin get in her head the way he did after she took such a strong approach when she left him. I was a little shocked that she was ready to give in to his demands without sitting down and thinking things through rationally. I understand that she was panicked and worried about her children, but she made it seem like she had absolutely no other options. No worries, it all turned out good in the end and the epilogue rounded the story out perfectly!
Final thought goes out to Ramsey...while the man oozed serious sex appeal, my heart just broke for him and his sad, sad story. I was soooo incredibly glad that he got his HEA because he definitely deserved it!!! All in all, this was a decent read and if the author chooses to continue the series, I will continue reading it!
What can I say? I loved this book. It had me coming back for more since the beginning. I loved that both characters were able to find their way through their own issues fairly quickly. The auther did a great job on writing their histories and you really felt for both characters. The sex and romance in the book awesome (which is a given considering the author is Jennifer Foor). It was steamy...didn't start off too early...made us want it and then once it happened - want it some more. Very well written. Compared to the first, I think I like this one better. Both H/h were very open and honost with eachother which gave their romance and relationship a better spin IMO. I liked that their was no mix ups or he said/she said...a real ADULT romance, not YA because their is no real immature behavior in this book...which totally gets my approval because I like angst...just not stupid confusion that could be easily avoided. My only personal down fall on this book was that the heroine cried so freaking much, everytime I turned a page I was adding more feet to the pool of tears that this woman had accumulated over the story. I mean, she was supposed to be this bad ass chick, but then, a drink spills and she cries, someone says a word with a vowel and she cries, someone looks at her and she cries..she takes in breath, thus she cries. Okay, maybe not to that extent, but you get the idea. Overall, 4.5 stars for not dragging me through a ringer of shit and giving me exactly what this book promised, hot steamy sex and two great characters!
*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for an honest review.
5 stars for Hustle Him by Jennifer Foor! This book is part of the Mother's Day Anthology entitled The Sheer Strength Collection. Jennifer Foor is one of my most favorite authors, so I was very excited to read this book! As always, the characters were well developed, and the story line was very touching while containing the perfect amount of angst.
Ramsey Towers lost his wife and daughter in a horrific car accident, and he blame himself for their deaths. As a result, he feels he does not have the right to move on and find happiness once again. He makes the decision to leave his old life behind, and he moves to a small town in West Virginia where he becomes the local sheriff.
Vessa has caught her no good husband cheating once again. Only this time, he has managed to get a young girl pregnant. Vessa has suffered enough humiliation, so she decides to take her children and go stay with her aunt. On the way, she is involved in an accident that leaves her unconscious. When Ramsey is called to the scene, he has no idea that is life is about to change.
I really loved this book! Ramsey and Vessa were great characters, and I fell in love with them instantly. The sex scenes were hot, and the story progressed at the perfect pace! Congrats, Jennifer Foor! Once again, you have created a superb read!!
Great story about changing your life for the better! This is a total different character set from Hustle Me, so reading order doesn't matter. Many tears, lots of laughs, and the desire to kill the soon to be ex husband! And now a bit about the story....
Ramsey has lost his family to a horrible accident and wishes he would have died with them. Vessa has just found out her husband not only cheated again, but has been doing it since they got married and now he has some young woman pregnant. After losing her temper for the last time, she withdrawals their money from the bank and moves it to another bank before heading to her aunt's house. On the way she encounters a tractor trailer on its side and a collision follows. When Ramsey gets called to the accident that mirrors the one that took his family he isn't sure he can handle it! Enjoy as fate steps in to help these two move on.
Favorite passages: - “She told me that this life on earth was just a test for us to go to heaven. She said that the true at heart die young because they don’t need to live the trial like others.” - This trip was about being able to forgive myself. - “With you by my side, each day hurts less than the one before it.”
I totally adored book 1 so I was very excited about this. Unfortunately, it's just not the same with this one.
I think the main bugger here is the pacing. It's all so sudden that it wasn't very believable to me anymore. The hero was very reluctant to let go of the ghosts of his family while the heroine is running from her husband who cheated on her. Yes, a very unlikely match. However, they made it work.... AT FIRST. And then suddenly, the heroine was all but throwing herself to the hero and I was so schocked that I had to back up a few pages and see what I missed. From thereon, I alternated from being skeptic with all the fast-track events and being nauseated with the fast-track intimate moments and cheesy lines.
It had a happy ending, yes.. However, I wasn't fully satisfied.
I guess this just didn't work out for me. I hope it works out for more people though. I also wish that the next book gets to have better main characters.
Ramsey was this guy that lost everything he loved in one swift moment and his life was never the same. Vessa was this woman who wasso devoted to her husband that she overlooked and ignored all of the signs. She finally got the courage to get up and leave her husband when she was involved in an accident and meet the sheriff, Ramsey. They each felt a immediate connection to each other, neither wanted to get involved and ruin their loneliness. Of course things never go the way that we want them to and you can guess the rest. Things went from worse to even worse and there lives and secrets came crumbling down. In the end things worked out the way they should and there was an HEA.
Just okay read. Hero had a late wife and daughter. He really loved her and spend adequate time mourning them. He fell insta love with our heroine and healthily moved on.
I did find him going after the loser ex of the heroine a bit out of character. He is a police officer for GOd sake. The way he beat the guy was just not acceptable for me.
The ex was a complete douche for sure. I wanted to feel sorry for the baby mama out of wedlock and cheating on his wife but she deserved it. What did she think will happen? A man cheated on his wife and basically abandoned his two children! DId she think that he will be loyal to her after asking her to have abortion?
Technically heroine was married to her ex till the end. But she was separated from him before starting relationship with the hero.
At first when i started reading i wasn't really feeling it and the story was kinda confusing and all over the place but by the time they got together i started really liking it and the hero was so swooning and won me over. This is an example of how to do the whole dead wife thing perfectly without compromising the h/H's love for each other and not putting the heroine as a second runner or something. With this story i believed on their love and did not feel the heroine as a replacement for the dead wife. It was amazing and that epilogue :D
4.5 Stars. I found it hard to decide whether I would rate it 5 or 4 stars. But since I was indecisive, I thought there must be a part of me that thinks that it just doesn't deserve 5 stars. Even though I still don't know what that reason is, I most likely will never know. Nor do I have the patience to find out. I liked this book. Less than the 1st one but more than what I thought. I'm not one to like books with people who are mourning over family members who have died-whether it's tragic or natural. I usually find that the characters who are grieving are boring and annoying (yes, I am a completely heartless bitch). Although those are my usual feelings towards books like this. I found that I couldn't get enough of this one ! I read it straight only stopping to go to the bathroom, I was that addicted. Overall, the way the characters interacted and the outcomes that the situations had, I found all logical and thank God not over the top. Anyone who liked Hustle Me, or just a deeply satisfying emotional read. I highly recommend this book. WARNING: IF YOU ARE SOMEONE WHO FIND MEN THAT CRY ARE WEAK, THEN BITCH YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE MISSING.
Goodness me. This book had me crying because not only was it sad but the love was incredibly deep. Ramsey is a cop who loses his family tragically. His love for his family is overwhelming. The scene where he calls out to the but gets no answer -holy shot I cried and had to put the book down. There is a scene where he is talking to his wife and needing her help and it was emotional. Miss FOor really got it right on the emotional aspect of this book. Thru out the entire book whenever Ramsey spoke of, to or about his girls it literally brought tears to my eyes. Vedas was a strong character who did her best to save her marriage to a cheating husband. She wanted the best for her kids and still loved her husband. But she reaches her breaking point and moves away. She and Ramsey meet but he is closed off and she is angry but they forge ahead and try to be friends. The story continues with the friendship, their issues, her kids, and her jealous possible ex husband. This was a good story about loss, love, and moving on but never forgetting.
I really love this author. Here books are easy reads, never miss a detail and keep you interested throughout the entire thing.
Ramsey is a cop who loses his wife and daughter in a tragic car accidents. He blames himself and decides he is going to live a sheltered life avoiding family, friends and most of all love.
In walks Tessa with issues of her own. A mother of two with a cheating husband who expects her to work and stay home with the kids while he does what he pleases. Or so he thinks of this strong willed character. I love her strength, courage and most of all determination to not only fight for herself and kids, but to fight for a man who believed all hope was gone.
There is excitement and I'm not going to lie a tear or two for the reader. A great story and I will definitely be putting this author on a read more of list. :-)
