It's 2015, and the farm animal movement is picking up steam every day. We have the opportunity to advance one of the great causes of our time and protect defenseless individuals from confinement and cruelty.
In Uncaged, 30 leading activists, including Paul Shapiro, Peter Singer, and Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, offer their hard-won insights on effective farm animal advocacy. Whether you're an aspiring or seasoned activist, "Uncaged" provides an abundance of wisdom and inspiration that will help you have a big impact for farm animals.
Loved it! Its intriguing to read about the experiences of other activists who have been fighting for animal justice for many years. I found the advice and tips to be extremely helpful, and I revert back to certain passages when I'm feeling discouraged. I like exploring what works in the movement, versus what doesn't work, and which issues will save the most number of lives. I recommend this book.
Concise and thoughtful essays on how to be a better advocate for farmed animals: Farmed animal advocacy can seem like such a grand task, especially when you're first getting involved so familiarizing yourself with the viewpoints and motivations of other activists is so important. The advice in this book is invaluable.
This is really two books in one. The first half includes wisdom and inspiration from a wide range of voices in the world of veganism and animal rights. The second half are essays by Ben Davidow. They are sharp, but some are definitely for the insider, even for the career animal activists. (One, for instance, reflects on the best strategies for crafting mass e-mails).
At first I was like 'meh' but then it got worse (somewhere around campaining to get people to replace chicken with pork). There was just one or two essays I enjoyed.
