Michael Reynolds is the perfect heir to his family’s vast commercial empire. Calm and exacting, he never lets himself go, not even during sex. Until a mysterious stranger’s wild seduction and impromptu striptease has him rethinking the benefits of losing some of his legendary control.
Vanny Donald is an oil driller, like her father was—before he was fired on a trumped-up charge of sabotage. Disguised as “Shelly”, she seduces Michael to gain access to his apartment and steal some files. Vanny wants payback for her father. What “Shelly” gets is a night of no-holds-barred sex and the personal satisfaction of making Michael Reynolds lose control.
When Michael arrives to inspect Vanny’s oil rig, she doesn’t know what worries her more—that he’ll recognize her or that he won’t. Some real sabotage in the form of a bomb onboard has Michael soon discovering that his sullen young tour guide is also his mysterious, seductive Shelly. So he offers her another job—as his mistress.
As a teen, Angela Claire worked in a graveyard, mowing lawns. She thought it was the worst job she'd ever have. Unfortunately, she went on to practice law. Once free of that horror, she turned to writing. Her stories always include a sassy heroine because she doesn't know any other way to write them and a hero who's to die for. When she isn't writing, she'd rather be. She has published over 20 books with Entangled, Siren Bookstrand and Ellora's Cave. Her latest is Tempting the New Boss, out from Entangled. She is represented by Kerry D'Agostino at Curtis Brown, LTD.

This was my first Angela Claire book and it's one of my favorites. Hot, hot, hot! If you like steamy sex scenes and a good story, this book is a must read. I will read anything by this author!
My reading progress updates contain my extensive thoughts on the book.
The refreshing heroine was the only plus to this unintentionally farcical plot. The deepening of the mystery plot was both unnecessary and brilliant. Unnecessary because it added like a thousand different characters AND their POVs to the book and made it longer than needed. Plus the Big Bad's ridiculously convoluted plan was nothing short of gloriously stupid so his POV helped no one. And brilliant because it made you completely forget the hero's heinous idiocy and thus made him more bearable in the end. I must say, though, if a book that started out with the H/h's POVs only, had to then go as far as a POV with the hero's brother as he mistook the hero's assistant for an escort he hired and then proceeded to fuck her, clearly the H/h themselves had nothing more to offer, which aint a good sign.
Ultimately, it was entertaining, even if that wasn't the author's intention, and the heroine was refreshingly original. So two stars.
Mixed feeling about this one. On one hand, interesting heroine and setting; often funny dialogue. On the other hand, way too many info-dumps and plot weirdness. Going to settle on 3 stars.
