One Night

Rate this book
He was on the run from death, she was on the run from life. Would one night together be enough?

Joel had no reason to live, he just didn't want to die. Running from a gang of vicious criminals who are out for his blood he arrives in wintry Southend with no plan beyond staying alive long enough to make one.
Eve is alone, tortured by her past and dreading a future of nothingness. When she meets Joel all she wants is a good time. The last thing she expects is that she'll end up running for her life and falling in love with a man who will lead her to uncover truths about her own past that will shake her soul.
Set in a single night, One Night is the gripping story of two people finding each other and the strength to deal with the demons in their pasts. Thrilling, romantic and sensual it will move and excite you and live with you long after the last page.

I really wanted to like this as the author is a Twitter pal but he has a serious aversion to commas and I gave up in the end. Sorry, Ollie.....they do make a difference as you read a sentence, I promise !!
For example...."was he trouble or just troubled she wondered"......or "if she had why"...or "Jesus he could see right through her". The last example especially illustrates why it's important to include them.
There was a missing apostrophe in quids' worth and done was used when it should have been down.
I'd highly recommend an editor as it greatly pains me to think people go to the trouble of writing over 200 pages then spoil all that effort by leaving mistakes in !!

I had the opportunity to read this book on my Kindle and it was well worth the read. A true page turner. Very well written and I'd enjoy reading more of Oliver Clarke's work.

This book will appeal to a wide audience of readers. It has the heart fluttering, insane love story ( that all is girls dream of) intertwined with boyish gangster bang bang, and some tastefully written scenes that will appeal to both girls & boys.
I think that the characters are developed cleverly using flashbacks and cliff hanging chapters that make you really interested in what happens next.
I found myself unable to stop reading it as I always impatiently wanted to know the outcome of the next instalment.
A thoroughly enjoyable story with some clever analogies, and I do love a good analogy!!!

I really enjoyed 'One Night'. It was a well constructed and punchy story that ticked along at an excellent pace. This book is well written, has a good emotional core and enjoyed it from start to finish.

In the paperback edition I read there were some typos and minor mistakes, obviously these would be picked up and removed with another edit but I didn't find them ever standing between me and the story.

A really good book from an author I'll be watching closely in future.

This book introduces us to Joel, a criminal who gets involved in a crime that goes completely wrong and he fleas with the money, the then meets a girl, gets found by the bad guys and tries to survive.

I did enjoy this book, but the flicking between past and present is always something I struggle and I don't overly enjoy the sex scenes, but otherwise a very well writen book.

I loved the way Oliver Clarke has taken two misfits and turned them into protagonists the reader can identify and empathize with. The story reads quickly with many twists and turns to keep in interesting. At the risk of sounding cliche, it is a real page turner. I recommend this book highly.

The lack of punctuation made it tricky and annoying to read.

I really enjoyed this book. There were some grammatical errors, but overall that didn't detract from the story. I would recommend this book to others who like this genre.
