I was not in the right head space to start a book, any kind of book. My dog died, my Dad is seriously sick and just more crap than you can possibly imagine was dumped on me all at once. But, I'd said I would review this book before I waist deep in the mother-load of emotional wreckage that has been life the past couple weeks, so I forced myself to pick it up -- And I am so extremely glad I did. To have touched me the way Need You Tonight did, after everything going on in my life is something just short of a miracle. The book is superb and flawless. The characters have so much depth, and the story is so emotionally charged that you cannot help but be completely immersed in this world. The BDSM aspect is exceptional. (This is not your 'I'm gunna tie you up and worship your body' trying to be a more mainstream, socially acceptable version of BDSM. BDSM is considered taboo for a reason, it's not always pretty or sweet - it's dirty, it's raw and it takes you higher than you ever thought humanly possible. If BDSM were pretty, then everybody would be doing it.) Roni Loren is fearless, she pushes you past your comfort zone seamlessly taking you to darker, grittier places where the payoff is so beyond worth it, without even realizing how far into that world you've actually gone. If you enjoy BDSM, heck even if you don't and you skip over every erotic moment, Need You Tonight stands on it's own even without any of the naughty parts. I don't think I've EVER said that about a book before and I have no doubt this is one that will stay with me forever. Happy Reading!

Kade was in love with Tessa as an awkward young teen. A boy who was picked on first because of his weight, then his stutter, he kept to himself until he’s assigned to tutor Tessa, the girl he has a crush on. Tessa is a foster kid and she’s learned over the years to become what others expect her to be to fit in. To fit in in a good home so she’s not moved, to fit in at school so she’s not teased. But in doing so, she’s dating the popular guy, Doug, a huge asshole who takes glee in cheating behind Tessa’s back and making Kade’s life miserable. After one night that changed Kade’s life forever, Tessa didn’t stand up for Kade and stand up to Doug and what went down is so horrible, so criminal (I’ll get into that more later) Kade left his mom’s home, moved away to live with his dad and took a long time to recover. He lost the stutter, he became a successful businessman and he discovered that his sexual preferences as a Dom is something that he can’t live without. He’s divorced, he’s known as the guy who dates one woman for two months and then moves on, never settling down, but when his path crosses with Tessa after all these years, all his feelings come roaring back and their relationship takes them both to places they never expected.

The initial setup for Kade and Tessa I found to be very enjoyable. I like the connection they have from the get-go of being close as teens and having that base for their relationship. They start out by just experimenting really. Tessa is now divorced from asshole Doug and she’s got her “list” and wants to start living so she can cross items off. Kade taps into her submissive nature and while she’s not at all familiar with the lifestyle or the scene, she’s open to trying and she trusts Kade. This is the basis for their relationship and whether they want it to or not, feelings on both side start to get deeper the more they’re together.

I always hate saying something like this with an erotic/BDSM book, but the BDSM is extreme for my taste in how it’s written. Kade really pushes Tessa right away and they cover a range of experiences from public sex, a threesome, a scene setup with Tessa being sold as a slave, and that’s just a few of the scenes they play out. To be honest toward the end, I just started skimming through the scenes. I got to the point where I thought, another one? I just found myself more taken with Kade and Tessa outside the bedroom instead of who they are inside of it.

A word of warning, this book contains flashback scenes to when Kade and Tessa were in highschool and even though I had a feeling it was coming and really, really wished it hadn’t, the scene with Doug and Kade, the moment that broke Kade completely, is detailed out and it made me sick. Most times I can see the reason for a scene like this being included in a story, but personally, I never, ever like having something like this put out there on page. It was made loud and clear what a horrible, disgusting man Doug is so for me, having this scene in there felt over the top, it felt out of place almost in a way and it completely pulled me out of the story, so much so, that I just skimmed to the end. It’s also used to compare the Kade as a teen, detailing out what he overcame to become the man he is now. Again, it’s a hot button scene for me that I never like reading and now it’s all I can think about and not in the good way of not being able to get a book or book’s moment out of my head. []

While I liked Kade, Tessa and their romance, I never connected with them when they got into intense BDSM scenes and I really didn’t like the inclusion of the flashback scene with Doug and Kade. This won’t go down as one of my favorites in the series unfortunately, but I’ve enjoyed the other books up to this point so I’m willing to come back for the next installment and see where the series and Roni Loren takes us.

Oh yes. I enjoyed the hell out of my first Roni Loren read. Lordy. Need You Tonight was steamy, sexy, fun and just a gloriously naughty and entertaining read.

The quick of it is that Tessa and Kade knew each other years ago when they were struggling to survive their teen years. It's been ages since their young friendship was torn apart and now all these years later they're back in each others lives and things are getting down, dirty and flat out kinky as hell as they mend fences and get to know each other once again. ::shivers::

I loved these two. Tessa has spent years with an emotionally abusive husband but after finding her ass of a hubby screwing her tramp of a best friend--on her kitchen counter--she's done. I mean. Chickie is DONE! And she's ready to change her life--go back to school, make it on her own, and embrace her sexy side and have some wild naughty adventures. I really enjoyed her. She struggles with her confidence but not to a point it's frustrating. Everything about her felt real to me and understandable. She's working past a lot of issues and really going for it and I loved watching her explore and open herself up to new things--in and out of the bedroom. It was nice seeing her come to life and flourish in her new environment.
"And what do you think?"

She lifted her chin, jaunty. "I think I don't like cocky guys."

He stepped in front of her chair and braced his hands on the table behind her, caging her in. His expression held playful challenge when he leaned in her space. "Liar."

She raised her eyebrows. "How would you know?"

"Because you didn't wait a whole year only to waste a night with some guy who's unsure of himself." He put his lips next to her ear, his voice turning dark and ripe with promise. "I may be cocky, but I'm not going to fumble around. I'm not going to lie back and wait for you to take the lead. I'm going to feed you the best meal of your life. Bite by bite. Then I'm going to fuck you. And I promise, when you wake up tomorrow, you won't remember the food."

And Kade. Damn me. That man is sex fucking walking. He'd definitely have a girl squirming and ready to do anything he asked. He's passionate and a bit hard *snicker* and he's just a kinky fucker that embraces...everything. Thank God because damn it's HOT! Yeah, he's a total cocky bastard but he's sweet and caring under it and sporting his own insecurities that really make him relatble and God absolutely tore at my heart. Some of the things that came out about him had me in tears. It was amazing seeing how he'd changed his life and become the man he was.
Kade closed the distance, his gaze like lead weights anywhere it landed on her. He reached out and grabbed the collar of her blouse with both hands and yanked, sending the buttons flying.

"Kade! What are you doing?"

The buttons skittered along the wood floor, and he tossed the shredded blouse to the side. His hand went to her neck, collaring it. "I'm doing what I want. Take the jeans off."

Oh, shit. Hello, deep end of the pool, nice to meet you.

The connection between Kade and Tessa was incredible. I loved how they dealt with their shared past and the hurts they'd caused each other. Both having regrets but not dwelling on it and just being...grown ups about it and moving on. You just don't see that too often and I really appreciated their maturity and poise.

And the sexy bits. Fuck me. This book was hot. Scorching hot. And all about fantasy fulfillment and Tessa overcoming her very sexually sheltered married life. I loved that Kade was flat out completely supportive of anything she could possibly want to try--even if it wasn't his kink. I just loved his open mind and desire to help her grow and explore. She wants a threesome. He'll give her one. Wants to play out a slave being bought by a Prince fantasy? He'll fucking take her back in time and create a slave auction complete with period clothing and everything. Wants to be tied up? Done. Everything went in this one and I loved every second of it. Even the things that weren't my kink. Because there was passion and caring behind it all. Even if they went in to the whole arrangement as just sex and a good time you could feel it was more than that. Gah. It was just sexy as hell and totally did it for me
"Cocky bastard," she whispered, no ire behind it.

"Yes, and a kinky one-- spanking included."

She lowered her forehead to rest on his shoulder, needing him for balance. His admission had her blood moving faster, fear of the unknown warring with ravenous curiosity. "How kinky?"

He cupped the back of her head with his free hand and touched his lips to her ear. "So kinky that there's probably not a fantasy you can tell me that I'm not willing to make happen for you. And a thousand filthier ones that you haven't even considered yet that I can introduce you to."

Guh. Her belly dropped to her toes and a hefty dose of oh-God-YES dumped into her bloodstream.

Of course things can't just be naked fun all the time and demons from their past come back to get them. And lordy those scenes got me too. Now, Roni? Gotta say. Doug needed to die. Slow. Yall. everything so fit the storyline and added a nice layer to things but it got my blood boiling and made me feel a touch homicidal. Really. I wanted this ex of hers to die. Painfully. It was hard watching Tessa and Kade experience some of these things and just about gutted me. Whew.

So all in all? Incredible read. I loved pretty much every second of Need You Tonight. The surprises, the humor the make-you-pant steamy moments that were thankfully abundant and just the taste of this world. I cannot wait to go back and meet some of the secondary characters and really look forward to seeing what happens next in this series. This is one I'd recommend to all erotic romance lovers. It's one of the best I've read in a long time.

Tessa and Kade’s story is told in an alternating past/present formation which flows smoothly and establishes a visually defined history of both characters. The “past” chapters reveal how Tessa and Kade became friends in high school and how Kade was the awkward, stuttering, unpopular boy who was teased and bullied by Doug. (Tessa’s then boyfriend, now ex husband.) We also witness how their relationship develops beyond friendship and ultimately how Tessa rejects Kade despite her feelings for him. The “present” chapters build the romance and relationship Tessa and Kade are forming as adults and allows the reader to see how their characters have evolved. Roni Loren always does a good job in shaping a well rounded romance between her main couples. As the reader, you feel the chemistry, the build of emotions, feelings, insecurities, etc. If the storyline alone had remained a contemporary erotic romance it would have received a higher grade, however, the BDSM element is what ultimately resulted in a frustrating and disappointing read for me.

I don’t claim to have first hand knowledge of a BDSM lifestyle other than the fiction I read. I’ve read many different authors that write BDSM erotic novels. Both authors who participate in the lifestyle and those that only observe, research and write about it. What has consistently been an issue with me regarding this series is the way that lifestyle translates off the page to the reader. I have always felt like the tone of how the Dom/sub is portrayed is very contrived and melodramatic, almost as if you are role-playing a scene in a play but are not experiencing the character or the emotions and actions behind it. I think what jars me the most and ultimately disengages me from the story is how one minute the couple can be going about their daily routine in a regular conversation and then the hero/Dom may say “come here” and the flip is switched for the sub in what feels like an orchestrated and abrupt transition. The result is a lack of emotion and anticipation of the moment that doesn’t translate off the page for the transition to flow smoothly and authentically.

Finally, the pivotal scene; the confrontation between Kade and Doug when Kade reveals to Doug who he really is was what ultimately ruined the story for me. Doug taunts Kade and verbally degrades Tessa. Kade snaps and shoves Doug against the wall, suggesting that maybe he should beat and break him and do exactly what Doug did to him back in high school. Kade eventually gains a level of composure, tells Doug to leave and he does with a final verbal jab to both. Tessa, witnessing the entire altercation, then proceeds to calm Kade.

“Kade looked ready to kill him with his bare hands. She’d never seen anyone look so deadly. The hate was like a palpable flavor in the air around him.”

“He looked like he needed to punch a wall or pummel something, like all this energy was built up with nowhere to go.”

Tessa’s solution to Kade’s anger is to suggest he take back control and use her to do it. She tells him that he has granted her fantasy and maybe it’s time she grants his. To which he replies:

“I don’t think that’s a good idea right now. You haven’t seen my mean side, and I’m not sure I trust myself to keep it light and easy right now. Just give me a few minutes to calm down.”

Tessa then tells him she wants the primal part of him, “whatever this is”. To which Kade informs her “this, is the ugly part”.

Kade is a Dom and a Sadist who has just relived the worst emotional trauma of his life and for the first time as an adult, confronted a man who beat and raped him as a teenager. I would say he is beyond furious at this point and then agrees to transfer that violent energy, rage and emotion into a scene with Tessa where he proceeds in cutting her clothes off with a knife, hitting her with his belt which ultimately leads to anal sex. Now as the reader would you not be thinking at this point that if this man was raped, reliving the horrific attack in his mind, the last thing you would expect him to want is anal sex with a woman he claims to love? And even still, that the woman would desire anal sex at this juncture?

“I want you to hit me because being with you like this makes me feel less fragile. You aren’t afraid to push me, to break me. And sometimes…I wonder how it’d feel to be broken.”

One important element that is clear and concise with most authors who write about BDSM is a Dom/Master never lays his hands on a sub/slave in anger. Not ever. Kade broke the main code of a Dominant with regard to the fundamental principles of BDSM; safe, sane and consensual. In that moment, Kade was not of sound mind and body (sane) to proceed in a scene of BDSM or even just a general love scene for that matter. I no longer trusted his judgement for himself or for Tessa. When Tessa encouraged him to continue, wanting to be objectified, insignificant, “broken” in the midst of his rage, I was appalled. While Kade did not hurt Tessa physically or emotionally, I lost all respect for him as a Dom and with Tessa for encouraging the scene given his emotional state. From that point on I skimmed the rest of the story.

Need You Tonight is ultimately my least favorite book of the Loving on the Edge series, however, it does not reflect my view of the series as a whole. I have enjoyed several of the prior books in this series and will continue to read more from Ms. Loren with the hope that I can find another enjoyable story from her in the future.

"You walked into my restaurant that first night, and before I even realized who you were, it was like the world shifted beneath my feet. Nothing has looked the same since."

I finished this book in a few hours it was so addicting. I think it's the first second chance in love story that I actually loved. This series is so good and you can't help falling for all the characters.

My first opportunity to read this author came with the book preceding this one which was book four in the series. I read the teaser at the end and found myself anticipating this one after meeting the male lead briefly in the other book. I was amazed how my perceptions of Master Van were blown out of the water when I got into his book where both his present and his past life through flashbacks were brought out in this story. No disappointment here for me.

The pacing, tone and direction of this one was so very different from the story before. I was able to tell that it was connected to a series because of recurring characters popping through and the one scene out at The Ranch that features in this series as the main gathering place, but I loved the unique feel that was specific to Kade and Tessa for their characters and story. This is a reunion romance of sorts. It is two stories wrapped up in one with Kade and Tessa of the past and Kade and Tessa of the present.

Tessa McAllen has returned to Texas after divorcing her cheating husband who made it clear that he thought her little better than a useless, 'cant stand on her own two feet', gold-digging, 'frigid in bed', trophy wife. Tessa took this sort of verbal abuse to heart after hearing it for years, but no more. She's made a list of things that she will accomplish on her way to an independent, better, and happier Tessa. Getting tangled up with another man is not one of the items on her list so she drags her feet when her friend Sam drags her off to a gourmet cooking class meet and greet at a posh area restaurant where she meets the sensual mysterious man who helps her check off 'frigid' from her list. His intensity and hints of darker needs bring out fear, but her greater emotions are anticipation and excitement to his ideas. She wanted one night and he wants one more.

Kade Vandergriff, successful businessman and dominant in his private life, learns that the woman who grabbed his attention and left him wanting more is none other than the one who got away. In high school, they were both cliches. She was the lovely and popular cheerleader dating the rich boy popular quarterback while Kade was the stuttering smart guy who used to be fat and wanted what he couldn't have. It had all ended badly. Now here she is again in his life, but this time he has the upper hand it seems since she is the one with nothing and he, a success. Deep down, he knows that there was more to the story back then which is why he put up with her need to hide their friendship before and her ultimate rejection of him. He was the only one who knew the real Tessa and no matter her choice, she was the only one who saw the real him.

Tessa is afraid to trust especially someone who has the reputation as a player and the experience to back that rep up, but Kade has opened up a whole new world for her and she doesn't want to give that up out of fear or worry of what others have taught her to think of these craven needs inside her. She wants to finally acknowledge her true feelings and not just be and do what others want. She promises herself that it is just physical or 'pretend play'. She gives herself permission to enjoy the 'dirty' and kinky stuff that she does with Kade.

Kade has known from the beginning that things with Tessa are different. This is no diverting little affair or play time as usual with a submissive; this thing with Tessa for him is a chance. He wants it all with her, but he knows that he must come clean about who he really is- that boy she didn't choose and who took the brunt of her then boyfriend's angry sadistic abuse- and he must come clean about what he is and wants in a relationship before things go much deeper. He is nervous that either truth will send her running. He lost his ex-wife and chance of more than short visits with his daughter do to his lifestyle and he knows the number her ex did on her, but yet he must know before his feelings grow even stronger.

Tessa surprises him in so many ways.
"All my life, everyone's treated me with white gloves, like I'm some porcelain doll to be left in a box or I'll shatter. With foster parents, they were afraid I'd snap and become like my mother. With Doug, he wanted the untarnished trophy."
His heart squeezed in his chest at the honest words, and it took everything he had not to reach out and caress her, but he could tell she wasn't done.
She turned and looked back at him, her gaze stripped clean. "I want you to hit me because being with you makes me feel less fragile. You aren't afraid to push me, to break me. And sometimes...I wonder how it feels to be broken."
The admission reached inside him and twisted things around into something new, opening up an ache that echoed through his deepest chambers.
pp. 293-294 Tessa and Kade from Need You Tonight

Tessa seeing the real Kade.
God, every part of him was beautiful. It was as if the universe forced him to bloom late because high school girls wouldn't have known what to do with this version. But she'd sensed it in him back then, beneath the stringy hair, hunched shoulders, and stutter. That quiet intensity and unshakable strength had always been there. She'd been drawn to it even when she couldn't quite pinpoint what was drawing her.
His focus flicked over her face and his eyebrow lifting, "Enjoying the view?"
"You have no idea."
pp. 297-298 Tessa and Kade from Need You Tonight

Kade in awe of Tessa's gift to him- her trust
He left for a few moments and returned with a glass of water and some ibuprofen. "You'll thank me for those in a few hours."
She took the pills and swallowed them back. "This definitely goes on record as the first sex I've had that required medication afterward."
"Gold star for me."
The completely shameless grin he gave her made her laugh.
"Hey, I'm the one who's not going to be able to sit down tomorrow. Don't I get some stars?"
He climbed in bed next to her. "Tess, I'd give you all the stars in the sky right now if I could."
p. 303 Tess and Kade from Need You Tonight

Sorry, just had to share those. I had so many more quotes marked that struck me in this story.

So my thoughts on the story...
As I said, this one strikes its own tone and I loved the gentle pacing to that thrilling scene near the end.
I don't normally give a ton of warnings and make excuses for a story's path, but I feel the need to issue one or two just so people know what they can expect and won't be disappointed. I'm not anywhere near an expert at erotica or BDSM genres, but in the few that I've read, I've noticed that heat and kink many times take the lead even to sacrificing story development. Those stories do have their place, but aren't what you'll find here. This book takes the time to build a huge porch and foundation before putting up the rest of the house if you catch my drift (lots of character and relationship building before the other).
The BDSM is moderate even though there are hints that Kade can go way darker- he's a sadist. Tessa is slowly discovering an enjoyment of pain which pleases them both. Truthfully, much of what is here in the story is on the milder side- fantasy scenes, exhibitionism, spankings, binding, toys, nuances, but that is because it is an introduction for Tessa into Kade's lifestyle. And Kade can't really get to that until they clear the air about their past and deal with the verbal and mental abuse her ex dealt her. So yeah, my advice...be patient and expect a true romance here that will also have you squirming at times particularly when Kade heats Tessa's butt with his hand.

My take on the characters was to be very pleased with both of them. I'm tough to please when it comes to BDSM story characters. I like heroes who walk that fine line between being a sexy, caring dominant and an arrogant jerk. I like heroines who are beautifully submissive, but still have a backbone. I'm not a lover of the bratty sub or the doormats. Kade and Tessa were fantastic.

Kade had every reason to take out his bitterness and anger over the past on Tessa, but he didn't. He patiently guided her and waited for her to move past all her issues even though he had some pretty big stuff of his own to get through- his past with abusive step-dad, attack/beating from Doug, and ex-wife keeping him from his little girl. He kept himself in check afraid of a second rejection from Tessa even though he pressed on hoping that this time it would be his turn to get the girl. He knew he had to be honest with her if he wanted a real future together. That's scary stuff laying all that on the line which is why I straight up thought he was something truly heroic when he did it.

Tessa only wanted a short-term fling. Her issues go back to her days of being abandoned by her mother, growing up in the foster system and then her cheating husband. This is the first time in her life that she is showing her real face and it scares her. She wants Kade, but is afraid to go for more because she thought he was just using her to scratch an itch and would toss her aside when he got bored. She also had the right to take her time about all the new stuff and new way of thinking that Kade was throwing at her. I loved how she processed things. Bad stuff happens and she just takes a deep breath and keeps on going. Each new thing with Kade makes her stop and think and then go ahead. It was neat seeing her trust for Kade literally form and grow before my eyes.

In the end, I was struck once again by my love for this author's writing, her characters, story development and her ability to write a steamy scene. I didn't speak to the action and suspense in this story, but it was there too. I eagerly await Kade's bestfriend Colby's story now.

If you're like me and enjoy a building story around your passion scenes then this BDSM Contemporary Romance series might be a good fit. And just as an aside, I found that this one was okay to be read standalone if you are like me and accidentally grab a book out of order though this is not true for every book in the series.

My thanks to Penguin Group for providing the book in exchange for my honest review thoughts.

Another five star read for me from Roni and this time I really, really mean it. Not like I didn't mean it the last time, but I really enjoyed-- no, devoured this book. I deeply love her work and I'm not just sucking up. Okay maybe a little.

There are some themes in this book that remind me so much of my upbringing. My parents are deeply religious, so I understand Tessa's past, both with her foster parents (expected to be the good girl, told what good girls do and don't do) and with her ex-husband Doug, a preacher who is expected to uphold a certain standard but is diddling everything on two legs in the background. Having grown up in the church with a front row view of what really happens once the Pastor says Amen, I was engrossed in Roni's interpretation of being embroiled in something sinister and nasty. And those two words exactly describe Doug, a man who is pilfering from a charity and his congregation but wanting Tessa to fall on her sword so he doesn't have to pay the consequences.

I could also really relate with Kaden--not the suave, debonair business man Kade, but Kaden-- the outcast, the stutterer, but the smart kid that every one leaned on to keep their grades up so they could remain on their various sports teams or stay in the parent's good graces. I remember being that girl that was smart so I was asked for help at every turn, but never asked to the parties or get-togethers. No one knew about the crushes I had on various boys... no one paid attention to me until they needed something from me. And then tossed me away into the pile of people only midly necessary for comfort of life. So yes, I understood Kade, at the core.

When Kade and Tessa reconnect many years later, they're both so different that they don't recognize each other. Rather, Tessa doesn't recognize Kade since he's all grown up and using a different name. She doesn't know it's him, the stuttering kid that tried to compete for her with Doug... until he confronts her with their past and gives her the chance to go back to a time when life was as simple as really liking a guy and not being able to do anything about it.

Can you imagine... getting a chance to seduce the guy or girl you always wanted back then? And knowing that s/he wanted you, too? To be able to go back in time, knowing what you know now, not held down by someone else's beliefs or opinions... that blew my mind.

Kade has his own secrets and problems. His nasty divorce and kinky lifestyle brought problems for him, one of which isthat he doesn't have custody of his daughter and isn't allowed to see her. His "deviant" behavior might rub off on her, so she's not even allowed in his home. When Doug crashes his way back into Tessa's life, he uses Kade's situation to lure her back to Atlanta. By this point she has been introduced to life as a Submissive and her teacher, Kade, is showing her what life can be like when you own your desires and fantasies and are open to a life of more than boring, vanilla, missionary sex.

Tessa has a plan, though. And with Kade's help, they'll bring Doug to his knees. Almost literally.

I feel like this book went so far, so deep into the psychology of need, both Tessa's and Kade's. Using their past experiences to shape their current realities, they're able to explore a more freeing life together. Lots of introspective, thoughtful dialog in this book and it seems like a lot less sex? Well, maybe I'm just getting used to the kink. ;)

I continue to be really pleased with how the Ranch is used for pleasure, for games, for erotic purpose and not as something mean or punishing. Everyone involved is consenting and everything that happens, happens because it is wanted. I've tried reading other BDSM themed novels and there's so much sadism, mean spirited almost rape-like sex. Doesn't sound pleasurable or enjoyable and there's no delight in reading it. There is no care, no love, no need to protect and please. Roni's approach to Dominance/Submission and BDSM makes all the difference.
Plus, I always get a chuckle or two in each chapter because she's actually a very funny person.

Can't wait for the next book!

Aww, what a lovely read! I think it's my favorite in the series so far.

Disregarding BDSM motive that goes throughout the whole series, the back story in this novel is amazing. Kade and Tessa had a crash on each other in high school. But he was a resident geek, and she was a foster kid cheerleader dating a popular jock who promised to take care of her, and stuff happened, so they were just not meant to be.

Years later, Kade is a kinky, self-assured, dominant billionaire whom we know from previous books in the series. He has everything he wants apart from his darling daughter whom his ex-wife keeps away from him because of his sexual choices.

Tessa divorced her jock and as an ex-trophy wife she has to start from scratch building her career and self-assurance. She meets Kade in one of his restaurants and sparks fly although they do no recognise each other.

Like in all Roni Loren books, the connection between the main characters is believable, super hot and very romantic. I also enjoy that the BDSM relationship in bed doesn't mean that Kade tries to control Tessa's life choices. He goes out of his way to make her feel more in control of her life, more confident, and at the crucial moment he trusts her enough to step aside and let her deal with her demons on her own.

This is beautiful, people. If you haven't tried Roni Loren yet, please do.

I had been hoping that we would be getting Kade's story after his appearance in the novella Still Into You and this book didn't disappoint!

All of the books in this series are stand-alones (with the exception of the e-series novellas) but old, well-loved, familiar characters make their presence felt in all of them and if you haven't read any of them before I would suggestion reading them in order - not only to familiarise yourself with the characters but because their are all hotter than heck!

The book itself had a different feel to it, as far as I was concerned, with the present and flashbacks to the past merging together to explain Kade and Tessa's past connection and how that impacts on their reconnection.

It was a very hot, steamy, read but does contain a heck of a lot of s*x along with D/s BDSM, some of which may be a little too graphic for nervous readers!

Thoroughly enjoyed it, will be reading it again soon and can't wait for the next one in the series.

This one has nearly made it to the very top of my Roni Loren favorite's list (second only to Grant's book because that one hit a huge emotional spot for me). I loved the lighthearted Kade and loved even more his heavy past and how he not only overcame it, but also how raw and honest of a picture Ms. Loren painted for readers.

Flashback scenes were weaved so organically and came at just the right time. I loved watching this pair fall in love twice -- past and present. Seeing what Kade has become and how he still had a little bit further to go in his journey and how Tessa had also worked hard to find her own identity after divorcing her judgmental abusive husband...it was well written, emotional and fun all at the same time.

A copy of this book was provided by the publisher for an honest review at Seductive Musings.

Although I’ve enjoyed every book in Roni Loren’s Loving On The Edge series so far, NEED YOU TONIGHT is the best one I’ve read since the very first book, CRASH INTO YOU, blew me away and made me an instant Roni Loren fan. It equals that book in both the emotional intensity of the “second chance at love” trope for its hero and heroine, and in the sweetness of its HEA for a couple who could never move completely past the evil which separated them in high school until they were finally able to face it down together.

When Kade Vandergriff catches Tessa McAllen trying to crash a singles cooking class at his restaurant, he has no idea that she’s the one who turned his world upside down so many years ago. All he sees is an incredibly attractive woman whom he wants to feed and bed, and not necessarily in that order. Tessa doesn’t recognize Kade either, but is quickly convinced that one perfect night of no-strings-attached sex is just what she needs after trying to rebuild her life in the wake of her lousy no-good husband’s betrayal. When Tessa’s true identity is revealed, Kade is determined to rewrite their sad shared history into a future where she realizes what a mistake she made by rejecting him for the man who would eventually betray her. But when their ugly past returns to threaten their present happiness, both Tessa and Kade will learn that even the most malevolent evil is no match for the love they never truly lost.

As wonderful as Tessa and Kade’s story is, readers should be aware that there are themes in NEED YOU TONIGHT which are potential triggers for those with special sensitivity to issues such as high school bullying, child abuse, and rape. Both Tessa and Kade suffered brutal childhoods, which helped them bond together at first, but ended up splitting them apart when the friendship threatened their survival. When they find each other again, it’s clear that although they have both grown emotionally, the scars of the past are still as real and raw as though no time had passed at all. But Kade refuses to let his past self define his present, and he will do everything in his power to show Tessa that what they had before was just the beginning, even as the danger to their lives and love is always lurking in the background.

NEED YOU TONIGHT is a beautiful and touching romance, with plenty of the perfectly written and seriously scorching sex scenes which are Roni Loren’s trademark. It’s easily one of the finest books I’ve read this year.

Ratings:

Overall: 5 stars
Sensuality level: 4 (BDSM scenes, domestic violence, rape threats, discussion of previous assault and rape)

Oh my goodness, but wow. This was such a great book from Roni Loren. If you haven't read any of her Loving on the Edge series, stop what you are doing and get these books. I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of BDSM but the way that Roni Loren presents in her stories makes me want to like it. Her books are hot, seriously. So hot, I don't recommend reading in public. But not only are her books hot, she writes with so much depth and emotion. Need You Tonight is no exception to this.

Let me just say that I couldn't put this book down. Every time that I did, I picked it back up again. Work fell to the wayside as I sat and devoured Kade and Tessa's story. I've been a big fan of Kade's and have been waiting for his story and let me tell you it was so worth the wait. In Need You Tonight, I was able to see a different side of Kade that I hadn't seen in previous books. Yes he's hot and sexy but the angst and pain was something all together new for me with him.

I feel like I should warn you...there are some things in this book that are hard to read. One in particular left me gasping and on the verge of tears. I just wanted to give Kade a hug and tell him it would be all right. *sigh*

I loved seeing the relationship (both past and present) between Kade and Tessa blossom and grow. They don't hold back and are honest and I just loved them together. They both bring out the best in one another.

Honestly, I can sit here and go on and on about Need You Tonight and just how good it is. Really, it was good. I highly recommend. I look forward to reading more from Roni Loren and I can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of this series.

Need You Tonight . . . how do I even begin to explain this one? Kade is a character who has appealed to me since he was first introduced, so when I heard he was getting his own book, I was MAD excited. It was everything I was hoping it would be and I loved it so much. Kade and Tessa are perfect together.

Need You Tonight was magical - it alternated between the present day and the past, and readers get to see Tessa and Kade fall in love not once, but twice. While their past was sweet and a bit awkward at times, the present day pair is extreme chemistry and hot moments.

Roni Loren really tugs on readers heart strings with this addition to the Loving on the Edge series. With both Tessa and Kade, there are some horrible moments in their past, yet they work through them together.

Tessa and Kade's relationship was a refresher - they both are honest and real with one another. Beyond that, I loved that they are both such fighters; they aren't happy to just settle.

The characters in this series are some of my all time favorites, and Need You Tonight was a real treat since there were appearances from quite a few other characters who I became rather attached to in past books.

This one is pretty near the top of my favorite Roni Loren book list (though I think Caught Up In You still takes the #1 slot). I am beyond eager for the next book, since I feel like with every book I become more and more attached to the characters, and am mad excited for Colby to get his story next. There are few authors I can as highly recommend as I would Roni Loren.

My Thoughts:

Need You Tonight, by Roni Loren, is the second story that I have read by her. I also read a short story of hers in the Fifty First Times: A New Adult Anthology, and her story was one of my favorites. What I have learned from reading these stories is that Ms. Loren is not afraid to take on taboo subject matter. She explores sexuality in a variety of ways, whether is is writing about a homosexual couple, or in this case BDSM. Before I read this story, I had no idea what it was about. I just thought that the storyline sounded really interesting, and I knew that it was an erotic novel. This story was so much more that I expected. It had an amazing story line, three-dimensional characters, and introduced me to a sexual lifestyle that I did not know much about. It was about two characters breaking down all of their walls, completely trusting each other, and being themselves, knowing that the other person will not judge them.

Generally, Erotica focuses on the sex in a story, and many times the story development is lacking. In Need You Tonight, while sex was prevalent, and emphasized in this story, we also get a strong plot, and well developed, complex characters. This story is told from the dual perspectives of Tessa and Kade, and flashes back and forth between 1996 and the present. Tessa is in a loveless sham of a marriage with her high school sweetheart, Doug. She was a foster child most of her life, and married Doug for security, and because she thought that he loved her. One day, when she gets home early, she see's Doug having hot, and passionate sex with the woman who she thought was her best friend, Marilyn. She throws fruit at his head, and he has the nerve to tell her that she is acting immature, and that the reason he cheated was because she was boring in bed, and his intellectual inferior. He then tells her to call the maid to clean up the mess she made, and hands her his credit card to go shopping as pay back for his cheating. Tessa takes his credit card all right! She uses it to get herself a divorce lawyer, and a plane ticket to her hometown in Texas to stay with her foster sister, Sam.

Unfortunately, Tessa lacks work experience, and skills. She goes from living the posh life style, to living in a bad neighborhood, and working for a temp agency. She is worried about the charity she founded for foster children aging out of the system, because Doug has pulled his funding, and won't reinstate it, unless she takes him back. Doug is a preacher on television, and after the divorce, he lost many of his followers. He's also in danger of losing his television show. He ran Tessa's name through the gossip columns claiming that she was a pill-popping, cheating, gold digger, but not before she let the columns know that he cheated on her. He is determined and will do anything to get her back, so he can make it appear like she lied about him and was in the wrong. In the meantime, Sam drags Tessa to a cooking class, where she meets the sexy, charming, and mesmerizing Kade. The two share a sizzling connection, and an intense attraction. That night they have the most passionate sexual experience that Tessa's ever had, and Kade offers to teach her more. While Tessa doesn't want to form an attachment, she's happy to learn a few lessons, and have this experience, so that she can make a check mark on her checklist of the changes she wants to make in her life. One of course being, not to be boring in bed. Kade and Tessa don't realize that they knew each other in high school, and share an intimate history together.

Kade use to stutter, have long stringy hair, wear all black, and was tall and lanky. Now he is unrecognizable 13 years later. He wears designer suits, is sophisticated, charming, doesn't stutter, has a great hair style, and muscular build. Tessa died her hair, cut it, and has curves. Eventually, Kade ends up figuring out who Tessa is and realizes that he still has feelings for her. He realizes he wants to be with her, but what happens when Tessa agrees to only one night at a time, and will all bets be off when she realizes who Kade is?

Need You Tonight hooked me from the very first page. Ms. Loren has a great writing style. He prose flow effortlessly, and take you in to the story. It is easy to visualize the characters, plot dynamics, and various settings with her seamless prose. Like I said before, I didn't realize that her characters would be so complex and multilayered. I felt like I really knew Tessa and Kade. I came to care about the characters, and they could have easily been real people. This story was amazing! It was suspenseful, with a variety of plot twists, had a great romance, and background story, and some of the hottest love scenes that I have ever read. My favorite aspect of the story was getting to read about Kade and Tessa in high school. Ms. Loren did a great job of depicting their innocence, strong feelings for one another, and beautiful friendship. I love the second chance at love story trope, and I was rooting for Kade and Tessa from the very beginning to the very end of the story.

There was a strong sexual component in this story. Once I got half way through the story, It started to get deeply in to BDSM. Blindfolds, ties, spanking, acting out sexual fantasies, and even a threesome. I was a little uncomfortable with some of the sexual acts, and just want to let you readers know what to expect so you're not blindsided, if you are uncomfortable with those types of things.

My Rating:

I give, Need You Tonight, by Roni Loren, 4.5 Erotic, Risque, Kinky & Explicit Stars! This story had a great story line, and sex scenes, but like I said, this story is not for everyone. If you are in to the BDSM lifestyle, or are just curious to learn more about it, I suggest you read, Need You Tonight! It was a great erotic romance, and I look forward to reading more stories by Ms. Loren!

My Favorite Quotes:

"Stop doubting yourself. Inexperience does not mean boring. Boring is a woman who isn't present with you in the moment. Boring is a woman who lies there and doesn't participate or who isn't open to trying new things. Boring is an attitude, not a lack of skill or experience. If you've got the desire, the rest can be learned. Taught." (Pg. 47)

~Kade

"Baby." He grabbed her shoulders and leaned back to look at her. "You coming back to me has the best thing that's happened in my life since Rosalie was born. I feel like all this time I've been cycling through relationships, I was just waiting for what I really wanted. Who I always needed. You." (Pg. 332)

I've genuinely enjoyed most of the books in this series. They're easy to read, the characters are interesting, the smut is kinky, and they're just generally pretty well written. This one is no exception, but it's probably one of my least favorite in the series. I've always liked Kade from the other books he had a cameo in, but I didn't feel that connected to his story with Tessa. Or maybe I'm getting a little tired of the formulaic Dom/sub relationship which seems so fake at times - as if the sub (who is almost always a woman) can just magically snap into "Yes sir" mode and instantly be turned on by the Dom's orders. Who knows, maybe it really is that way - but I'm ready for the plot of the stories in this series to be changed up a bit. Because of course I plan to keep reading the rest of the this series 😊

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

Roni Loren continues to impress me with every book of hers I read. This series is by far one of my favorites and these books never disappoint. Loren has a way with words, and her books are always well written and extremely hot. I couldn't wait to read this book, and it was everything I had hoped for and more. Kade and Tessa's story sucked me in from the very start and made it next to impossible for me to put down. If you aren't reading the Loving On The Edge Series yet, what are you waiting for? Trust me this is an absolute must read for erotica and romance fans.

When Tessa walks in on her husband having sex with her best friend, she decides to divorce him and head back home. After a year of getting back on her feet, she makes a list of things that she wants to do. When her and her friend Sam go to a cooking class, she meets a sexy stranger who offers her a night filled with passion and desire. But when Kade learns her full name, he gets the shock of a lifetime. Tessa is the popular girl from high school that he tutored and was in love with. Tessa having grown up in foster care had chosen a life with Doug and stability over Kade leaving him heartbroken. Now Kade has a chance at having a hot fling with her, but convincing her won't be easy. Tessa has a hard time trusting after everything she has been through, and after finding out who Kade is she knows that he is the one person that she is in danger of feeling more for. While Tessa is determined to keep things with Kade casual, he is not willing to let her get away so easily this time. Kade and Tessa start seeing each other, and Kade begins to show Tessa the lifestyle that he participates in as a Dominant. With Kade's help, Tessa begins to find herself and realize all the desires and needs that she didn't even know she had. But when the past catches up with them and threatens the relationship that is building between them, will they fall apart before they get a chance at a future together?

I loved Kade. He was sexy and sweet, while also being controlling and all alpha. I liked that he was patient with her, and he was really encouraging. He helped her to find herself and live the life that she deserved, while getting over her trust issues and her past. I really liked how deep Kade was. It was great to see him as the young boy that was so hopeful despite the cruel way that kids treated him. But I also really loved seeing how he took all that and the bad things that had happened to him, and how he overcame it all and was able to find confidence and really make something of himself. I liked Tessa and how she was really involved in the charity she started. It was nice to see her help others that were going through the same thing that she had gone through. I didn't like the way she was when she was younger, but I do understand that she didn't know any better and that she was just trying to make the best life for herself that she could. I wish that she would have stood up to her friends and Doug though when they were always being so mean and awful. But I loved watching her come into her own with Kade's help, and she really made up for everything at the end with Doug. I loved watching her stand up to him and really embrace a future with Kade. I thought that Kade and Tessa had a really great connection and loved seeing how strong it was not only as kids but later after everything that had happened. These two were so hot together, and they had unbelievable chemistry! Kade and Tessa were just one of those couples that you knew belonged together and were absolutely meant to be.

Overall, I loved this book. This series is fantastic, and is filled with sexy times and wonderful characters. I love seeing characters from past books in these stories and getting to meet characters for new books in this series. I am really interested in getting to know Colby and Gibson both better. I liked them both a lot in this story and can't wait to see them fall hard. This series just seems to be getting better and better. Each time I think that I have a favorite couple from these books, I realize that I love them all and can't possibly pick. I really thought that Wyatt and Kelsey were my favorites, but there is just something about Kade that really made me fall in love with him. This book was super hot and it was so enjoyable. I really can't say enough why you should read this book. If you are an Erotica fan and love steamy scenes with depth and emotion, then you absolutely have to read these books. I can't wait to read more from Roni Loren in the future, and I can't wait to get more of these characters in this series.

Title: Need You Tonight

Series: Loving On The Edge Book #5

Author: Roni Loren

Genre: Contemporary, Erotic

Blurb: She’s making a wish list, and he wants to be on top. From foster kid to trophy wife, Tessa McAllen is about to reinvent herself all over again—and defy every insult her cheating ex-husband ever used against her: Selfish? She’s championing a charity. Stupid? She’s getting her degree. Boring in bed? Kade Vandergriff can help her with that one. When they encounter each other at a singles event held at one of his restaurants, Tessa blurts out that kink is for girls who try too hard, and Kade instantly wants to show this sassy stranger how thrilling a night under his command can be…but when he learns her name, the game changes for both of them. In high school, Tessa was the popular girl who stuttering, awkward Kade fell for. But she chose another. Now, as she eagerly learns lesson after lesson, he’s going to make sure she never forgets him again.

Thoughts: Loving On The Edge is right! This book definitely has a bit of an edge to it, and in more ways than one! I loved this book, and I loved even more how Tessa and Kade didn't immediately recognize each other. They kind of had a chance to be together without being hit with all the baggage from their past. And, while neither of them were perfect and made their share of mistakes, they were both immensely likeable as characters. I also loved how neither of them started playing the blame game - they accepted the past, tried to understand each other's viewpoints, and moved on. It was fascinating to watch them fall in love all over again. I was honestly surprised at the depth of the storyline.

This book was over 400 pages, and one of my concerns was that it would wind up a little long winded with parts that really lagged. That was far from the case, thankfully. The author did an exemplary job with keeping the story constant, fresh, and interesting. I do feel the need to warn you though that there is a rape scene toward the end of the book, that is not only more descriptive than I have usually found, but also not quite like any other that I have come across. To be honest, it is truly heart wrenching and will bring tears to your eyes. While it is utterly horrible, I thought it was important to the overall story and that it really increased those character connections. However, if that is a sensitive issue for you, you might want to pass on this one. Even though the book is a series, it is also fully able to stand on it's own without making you feel lost.

Kade and Tessa has a history together. Back in high school Kade was Tessa's tutor as well as her boyfriend/ex-husbands butt of all jokes. He was not popular by a long shot and in no way looks like the man he is today. The two of them fell for each other but Tessa still wound up choosing her boyfriend/ex-husband over him. Fast forward to adulthood and you have two people who have unfinished business.

Kade's been staring in other couples threesomes, so I was happy to see him get his own story. Like all characters of Roni's, Kade and Tessa have somethings to overcome. Tessa was mentally abused by her ex-husband for the entirety of their marriage. Kade's ex-wife does everything she can from him seeing his daughter. As it is, he only has visitations with her a few hours a month. One common enemy for them however is Tessa's ex-husband. Who of course rears his ugly head from time to time throughout the story.

I really wanted to love this story since I've enjoyed all the LotE books I've read but this one fell flat for me. I don't know why but I just didn't connect with the story or the characters. Maybe it was the fact that history was repeating itself. Tessa wanted to be with Kade, but didn't want anything serious and didn't want to be scene out in public with him. Kade was a sap who was wound around her finger the moment he met her. I just didn't get that dominance from him as I'd saw from not only other Doms of the story but from him in previous books as well.

Even though this story didn't work for me, I will definitely be keeping up with the series. I guess you can't love em all.

4.25 Stars!

Need You Tonight is another wonderful book by Ms. Loren that takes us on an emotional journey of love connecting two people as past haunts and future trusts come between to shake things up.

Tessa was married to Pastor Doug Barrett, the leader of the Living Light mega church in Atlanta, they had been together since high school and even though he abused her emotionally, she stayed with him for thirteen years. It was not until she catches him with a friend in the kitchen and he tells her there have been others, that she finds the courage to leave and start a new life.

Tessa walks out with nothing and goes home to Texas where her friend Sam still lives. Sam and Tessa had shared foster parents at one time and she knew Sam would help. Tess would say that Sam helps too much as she pushes her into the dating scene before she is ready, yet it is on one of these occasions that Tessa meets Kade, and spends one of the most amazing nights of her life. When a fire cuts short their time together and Kade realizes who she is, everything changes for both of them.

This is another in the series that continues to entertain as the characters feel real, the emotions are raw and the sex scenes are powerful.

Roni Loren does not disappoint. I am so glad that things I thought were going to drag out until the end did not.

I loved the flashbacks to 1996. They were paced perfectly and the reader got a clear picture of the hero and heroine’s friendship in high school. Some scenes were heartbreaking and hard to read, but very well written.

I am not sure if the M/F/M scenes in this book was necessary. Kade loves and is very protective of Tessa. It confused me as to why he wanted to share even though he explained his reasons.
The scenes steamy. I was nervous when he brought her to the BDSM club, but how he fulfilled her fantasy, it was sweet and romantic even though I was nervous as to how Tessa would initially react. It was all about trust. Kade is very protective, loving, and alpha of Tessa.

I love books about second chances and Roni Loren knows how to get the reader to connect to her characters and love them from beginning to end. I love Roni Loren’s stories. Period.

I am a HUGE fan of this series and this book did not disappoint for me!
This story took me through a whole gamut of emotions and had me hooked the entire time. My heart broke for both H/h but I was happy to see they found solace in each other in the end.
I love the authors writing style with the small quips and references that make me laugh out loud at times. Her humor provides a good balance with the intense sex and the sappy elements, the best of everything in my opinion.
I have found myself venturing into other genres since I started skimming through pages, skipping over sex scenes to get back to the plot. For me things have gotten too repetitive from book to book. That was definitely NOT the case here! And the fantasies come to life... oh my! *BLUSHING*
I was surprised that certain elements the storyline were kind of brushed over namely the incident with the restaurant and what consequences Doug received.
My only con is that I would like to see more of the other characters from the series aside from Evan, Jace and Andre.
Can't wait for Colby's story!

Awesome book by Roni Loren. Her Loving on the Edge series is amazing. Never thinking to see his teenage love again, Kade is shocked to find out the woman he just spent an evening with was her. Vowing to win Tessa back, Kade searches out Tessa after she disappeared that first night & tells her who he is. They reconnect & slowly start to build a friendship & a relationship when her ex starts to cause trouble for them. After finding out about Kade's kink Tessa's ex blackmails her back home to his home. She goes to put Kade out of the line of fire & help him get his relationship with his daughter back. But Kade being sick of being pushed around by her ex goes after her & reveals what happened to himself all those years ago at the hands of her ex. This is a definite recommend to read. Can't wait for the next installment now after reading the teaser at the end.

Roni Loren does it again, what a fantastic book with great main characters and storylines! Ive been waiting forever for Kade to get his own story and boy was it worth the wait! From beginning to end i was completely hooked with both present and past storylines, so much history between Kade and Tessa and written in such a great way. The story had darker moments but made the ending all the more worth it! Its such a great story and provides such a great history between Kade and Tessa. Absolutely a must read!

I was NOT expecting to get such a soft, gooey center at the heart of Kade Vandergriff, but as usual, Roni Loren both surprised me, and exceeded my expectations for his story. And even better, we got a first hand look at the relevant pieces of his past, rather than a short summary via dialogue. Basically, this book was great, and Roni Loren continues to blow me away with her amazing, sexy, love stories.

Sexy Kade has been tantalizing the pages of Ms. Loren's books since the beginning and he finally gets his due in book 5. I loved every page of this book and how in depth we get to see our sexy dom and what lies beneath all that charm and swagger. Loren's books are always a treat to read and I liked how this one mixed a little of every emotion a long with some humor. This is defiantly a series worth grabbing for the heat, intensity, and great stories you get with every book.

Not really a big fan of BDSM but this book rocked! Kade was a dirty talking, sexy Dom who's also a Masochist and his lady love, Tessa who just happened to be his high school crush was all over that. These two scorched the pages of this novel. Ms. Loren, my hat's off to you, girl, you sure can write kink. Break out the fan for this one! I've got a new fav author. Can't wait to go back and read the previous 4 titles of the Loving on the edge series!

FINALLY. This has been on my TBR list for ages and I finally got around to finishing it. I've always been curious of Kade ever since I read the second book (and he hits on the very married Leila Carlo lmao Kade) and I'm glad that I'm not disappointed by his book (unlike *coughs* Grant's book *coughs* such a shame, that one). and Tessa is my babe. She's so feisty and innocent at the same time I just adore her.

I am in love! Before this book I was a complete Roni Loren virgin but no more!

When Tessa walks in on her husband and the only man she’s ever been with cheating on her with her best friend she drops everything and leaves. Divorcing him she’s left with nothing. No money, no higher education past a high school diploma, and no job. Now almost a year later Tessa is working a temp job, taking night school, and has her own apartment. Tackling a list that will prove her husband wrong she’s on a mission. Taking a dating/ cooking class she runs straight into Van, a man who awakens everything that has been dormant inside her for a long time. After a night together Tessa knows she can’t see him again or she’ll risk everything she’s been trying to accomplish, gaining her freedom.

When Kade bumps into Contessa a.k.a. Tessa his long lost high school first love he can’t believe it. All the time that’s past seems like nothing and Kade will not let what happened between them the first time happen again. Taking her into his world where the word kinky is taken to a whole new level Kade plans on showing Tessa everything she’s missed out on in her sheltered life. The problem is Kade doesn’t want to lose her again and is afraid his BDSM lifestyle will have her running for the hills instead of to his bed.

Squeeel! Honest to goodness Need You Tonight is one of those mind blowing books where at least to me other books have been paling in comparison. This book had everything I could ever want (well you know…besides vampires) and that was great. Amazing dialogue between characters, raw powerful emotions, realistic characters, hunky dudes, and you know…hot sexy time scenes that had me fanning myself. And they were HOT I swear it was wow. The sexy scenes definitely amp up from more innocent in the beginning to water boiling hot towards the end.

I know this is going to come out weird, but I liked that Tessa was abused. I know weird right, but honestly I felt an instant connection with her once I realized what was happening with her and her ex having experienced that myself as well. Ms. Roni Loren really captured the abused character traits well I thought. Tessa was many of the times unsure of herself because of being controlled for so long and for not having experienced many things. I enjoyed her insecurities because they made her character more real for me.

Van or Kade or Kaden has his own sets of issues but before I get to that let me first say; hot damn! I mean seriously Kade is yummy! I honestly don’t have any idea as to how to describe my feelings for Kade other than I am extremely jealous of Tessa and he is book husband material.

One of the aspects about this book that got me hooked was the flashbacks and the dual pov. I LOVE DUAL POV especially when it’s a girl and guy pov I’m getting. Tessa and Kade both share a past and the flashbacks show where their relationship started, how it ended and why, and the secret to what happened to Kaden all those years ago. The flashbacks switched between their perspectives just like the rest of the book did. I really fell in love with both of the characters before the flashbacks but I think with Kade his flashbacks gave a little more insight into his more vulnerable side. Since Kade is a Dom inside and out he likes control and I enjoyed reading about a younger him that was a little less sure of himself, but no less adorable.

I don’t want to give anything away so I’m just going to say that I love this book with a passion. Need you Tonight is definitely going to be a favorite of mine for a long time. I fell in love with Tessa from the first page and Kade from the minute he walked into the restaurant. Flaws and all Tessa and Kade are two of my favorite characters. Since Need You Tonight has had me out of whack from reading since I finished this amazing book I will so have to space out when I read these amazing books. Roni Loren you have crafted genius and I can’t wait to read more by you. Plus added boun there are so many hilarious scenes and things in this book I cried from how hard I was laughing. What more could anyone possibly need from a great book?

Honestly I am highly recommending this book to people who are getting into the BDSM books or just adult romance books. I have a lot of issues with other BDSM stories that seem to be about just sex and not really about the characters, but with Need You Tonight I didn’t have that issue at all. If anything their personalities and backstory were the focal point of this story even during the s*x scenes and I have to give my props because that’s a first for me.

Teaser:
“She’d said that she only wanted tonight. She’s said this was a one- time thing.
Kaden Fowler would’ve turned and gone home. That boy had been used to hearing no.
But Kade Vandergriff didn’t even know what the word sounded like.”

Swoon:
“He grabbed her legs, lifted her off her feet, and wrapped her legs around his waist, going in for a real kiss. She let out a little gasp of surprise but quickly melted into his hold. He tasted like cookies and vanilla and pure temptation.”
