Raegan wasn't normal, even before she was abandoned on her aunt’s doorstep. Not extreme makeup or ugly clothes different, but psychic visions and healing powers different. Either way, in high school, different is bad. This curse has kept her from having the life she’s always wanted. When an invitation to attend Dr. Ezekiel Drake’s Science Academy offers her the chance to meet more teenagers with special abilities, Raegan seizes the opportunity for a normal life.
The school seems perfect, offering her new friends, a new boyfriend, and a new normal, until Raegan's psychic powers link her to a dark stranger. She finds herself inexplicably attracted and connected to this mysterious boy who threatens to change her newfound happiness. Worse than merely causing trouble with her boyfriend, this link forces Raegan to look deeper into the world she’s entered, and what she learns makes her realize that being different isn’t the worst thing that could happen to her.
Hi! Not sure what to say here! I'm boring, just a stay at home mommy. My family is everything and is the reason I wrote this book. Although I loved writing it, I even cried several times during its creation. I feel involved with my characters!
But anyway things I love. Movies, books all things entertainment! I'm a huge TVD fan which you know if you've read Seclusion.I'm a big fan of the Delena ship!
My book was written with the intent to entertain and be an enjoyable read.I hope you have fun!!
Wow I feel in love with this book!!!! I wasn't sold at first but somehow I got hooked and just couldn't stop. I was thrown at the end and actually was screaming" no no no no" at the book lol It has been a while since I got so caught up in a book. I recommend it...read it!!! Really good book. Oh and I would love a sequel.
I was very excited to get the chance to read Seclusion. The cover is awesome and the synopsis got my attention, two main things that help me choose a book to read. I got right into the book and it definitely had me hooked. On a few occasions I felt like parts were a little forced, but it didn’t distract me from the story.
I loved the characters. Raegan is the main character, and she is a great main character. Her relationship skills with boys may be a little wishy-washy, but then again she’s never dated, so I actually liked watching her learn about the different kinds of love she could feel for a person. I also loved that she gets to grow so much throughout the book, not just her personality and confidence, but also her abilities.
Damen, Chase, and Jay; where to begin? The guys in this story did have a major affinity towards Raegan, perhaps a little unbelievable, but it still worked out well. Damen and Jay, both tall dark and handsome, and Chase a classic jock, yeah Raegan had her hands full. Damen was broody and stand offish, Jay was happy and fun, and Chase was serious and loyal. Again, one of my favorite parts was watching their abilities grow. It was great to see their relationships with Raegan evolve as well. I almost wish things had ended differently with the guys, but really it was very sweet.
As far as secondary characters and villains go, I enjoyed them all. Raegan’s other friends, Elsie and Connor were great. They were a cute couple, and immediately took up with Raegan helping her in some possibly dangerous missions. I never expected the villains in this book; I was pretty sure it was going to go a different way, so that was an awesome twist.
All together this book was a great read. I was completely invested in the outcome, and I wanted to read more. I noticed a few little things here and there that could be fixed, but they didn’t take away from how much I loved the book. I thought it was exciting and it had originality to it, and it was made relatable with current pop culture references. I would suggest this book to people who enjoy paranormal romance. I think this is a perfect first book for budding author, C. S. Rinner, and I hope eventually she is pulled to write more about these characters.
I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
Easy 4.0, probably more. I really liked this book and couldn’t put it down. There are things that I’m sure some people won’t like (it’s one of those where all of the guys fall in love with the heroine), and the ending seemed to appear out of nowhere. On the other hand, the story was interesting, the characters are likeable, and there were times that I giggled out loud.
Plot: Reagan, who has visions and healing powers, is a total outcast at her school. When she hears about Dr. Ezekiel Drake’s Science Academy, a school for kids with different abilities, she jumps at the chance to go. Once she’s around people like her, she really comes out of her shell. She begins to make friends and boys start taking interest in her. In a class where the kids learn how to control and work with their abilities, she is paired with Damen because his powers are similar to hers. The two don’t hit it off at first, but as they get to know each other, they realize they have a lot in common, including the fact that their parents disappeared. And once they learn that the circumstances around the disappearances are similar, they work together to find out what really happened. At the same time, they try to navigate through a series of challenges that tests their abilities and their relationship.
Characters: Reagan is sweet and funny and cares about other people. She comes out of her shell very fast (faster than actually would seem normal), and she does seem kind of wishy-washy about the guys. Overall, I liked her, especially as she continued to grow throughout the book.
Damen is your typical broody, mysterious guy, who happens to be hot, but doesn’t make that his go to. I found it a little hard to trust him at first, but I did more and more as the book progressed. Like most YA heroes, he is jealous and overprotective and in making sure Reagan doesn’t get hurt, he does the exact opposite of what he needs to for what he thinks is a good reason.
The primary supporting characters are Chase, Elsie, Connor and Jay. Chase, who also falls in love with Reagan, is your typical handsome jock. He’s kind of bland but still very likeable. Elsie and Connor are a cute geeky couple (who aren’t really all that geeky). Elsie is a great best friend, always supporting and encouraging Reagan and taking care of her when she needs it. Damen’s best friend Jay is one of those crazy guys who is always flirting and has a great sense of humor. He was definitely one of my favorite characters.
Writing: The writing was easy to read, and the book was well edited. (Major bonus points there.) There was one place where Rinner copied and pasted a paragraph and forgot to delete it later. My only other complaint would be excessive use of exclamation marks, and that says a lot coming from a fellow abuser.
The Bottom Line: This book is the perfect guilty pleasure. It looks like this is Rinner’s first book, and she did an excellent job of keeping the reader invested and entertained. It reminded me a lot of Born at Midnight (which I loved), but it also had characteristics of a lot of other popular YA series that I have read and liked. I finished it in two nights because I didn’t want to wait to see how things ended. So far, it is a standalone, but since it’s set in a school with all kinds of different kids, it would be easy to turn it into a series. That’s a hint, C.S. Rinner!
I really liked this book. Really liked it. I liked the characters, and I was absolutely head over heels for Damen. I loved everything about the book, except for the ending. It was really strange for me, it seemed to wrap up to quickly and the whole thing about them being cousins and then like 5 pages later not being cousins? WTF??!!! Even though it had a bad ending, I really liked this book. 4.5 stars!!!!!!
