Lyra McCauley, current Scribe of the Alliance, is the only one who can decode magic hidden in the recently retrieved ancient texts written by her ancestors, the first four Scribes. Information in those writings can help Lyra locate the four missing keystones, which will restore power to the Alliance and allow overthrow of the Dark Realm. With peace restored, she and her beloved, Cullen, could finally marry.
Time is short with the Black Dragon’s Dark Realm increasing attacks to avenge the death of his heir. Many innocent lives are lost. Alliance residents are forced into hiding. Magicals and blue dragons follow leadership of the Imperial Dragon and the other three Guardians into battle to defend the Alliance.
While Lyra unlocks the ancient magic, she opens herself up to scribal powers from her ancestors. She alone can fight the deadliest of the Dark Realm’s forces—the cimafa stealth dragons—but at a cost. The energy flux threatens her health and ability to learn where to find the missing keystones. Can Lyra overcome this shrewd tactic of the Black Dragon to decimate the Alliance.
The magic of nature primes my creative wellspring for writing, watercolor painting, drawing, knitting and sewing. I’m a registered yoga teacher. My personal practice helps weave the mystical into my writing.
After moving from Toledo to Tampa in 2008, I’ve happily transformed into a Floridian, in love with the outdoors year-round. I’m crazy about cycling and hiking. I live with my husband on a large saltwater lagoon from which I kayak through mysterious mangrove tunnels to Tampa Bay. I love this series. The books are short and very quick reads. I enjoy watching Lyra grow in her powers in helping the Alliance. The only bad thing about this book was there was so little interaction between between her and Cullen and I missed that. Looking forward to the next one.
This is the 4th book in the epic fantasy romance series entitled the Enchanted Bookstore and in this book Lyra is carrying on with her Quest in order to save Dragonspeir and restore power to the alliance who are being threatened by the evil Black dragon of the Dark Realm. This time round she needs to locate the four missing keystones however fighting the cimafa is draining her of her energy and hindering her from continuing her quest. One of the stones she needs to find is the Emtori Ruby which is aligned to the fire element which is Lyra’s own element and this stone is affecting her even from a distance in the same way as it had done to the first scribe Elizabeth. Lyra is now suffering from seizures so Cullen wants her to stop her search but the Imperial Golden dragon is adamant that she continue her quest and Lyra perseveres because otherwise she and Cullen will never get to live their life together in Dragonspeir which is their greatest wish. Lyra meets a woman with a disabled child who asks for protection during the war being fought, and Lyra realises that the child Kessa is more than she seems but her mother will have none of this. Also Lyra is the only scribe ever to possess gifts from each element and staurolite, the stone also has within it the four elements hence she concludes that maybe she was meant to be the one to find it in Cerid’s Crux. Her aura seems to have been aligned to the fifth element called Quintessence which is the title of the next and final book in the series which hopefully brings a successful end to Lyra’s quest! This series is so magical and so full of wonder I really cannot have enough of it! I just love stories about alternative lands, all things magical including creatures such as dragons and unicorns, and bookstores or libraries so this series has it all for me.
When the Black Dragon's evil Cimafra attack Dragonspier all who are able are forced to fight, including Lyra's beloved Cullen. Meanwhile, Lyra must transcribe her ancestors' books looking for a way to defeat the black dragon. As she does so, she notices someone among the refugees the Imperial guard has taken in. Kessa is a young girl brought to the dragons for protection. Lyra feels sure there is something important about the girl. Even though her mother protects her a bit too much.
Both might be important in defeating the Black dragon. But will Lyra find the answers she seeks before their forces are defeated, taking with them the hope of Dragonspier and Lyra and Cullen's chance at happiness? You'll have to read to find out!
I enjoyed this look into the magical history of the Scribes, and being introduced to new characters, and new trials and quests for Lyra as she travels down another path toward full afflation. I think fans of fantasy will too!
Absolutely enchanting book! Lyra and Cullen only want to be together but obstacles keep them apart. The Alliance is counting on her to help save them from the Black Dragon. There is romance, betrayal, intrigue and so much more to this story. This is the fourth book in this series but it is just as good as the first. I can not wait to read the next. I really love this book!
