C.D. Reiss

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

★★★★★! Dominance Series! Stories of woman dominated by the same man, during different times!

“You’ve been a bitch, goddess. That’s over. From now on, you step when I say walk. You eat when I feed you. You come when I allow it. If I so much as look at your knees, you get on them and open your fucking mouth.”

The Submission series is the whirlwind saga of aspiring singer Monica Faulkner and hotelier and real estate magnate Jonathan Drazen. Books/novellas should be read in order:

My individual reviews of bundle:
Book 3.5: Jessica & Sharon
Book 5.5: Rachel
Book 7.5: Monica

My reviews of rest of series:
Book 1: Beg
Book 2: Tease
Book 3: Submit
Book 4: Control
Book 5: Burn
Book 6: Resist
Book 7: Sing

Book 9: Coda
Book 10: Breathe

(Warning: This review contains spoilers if you haven't read the first three books in the Songs of Submission series - Beg, Tease, & Submit)
All we knew about Sharon was what Johnathan had told Monica in Submit - That she was a submissive, who he topped occasionally, but he broke off their arrangement. This book tells the whole story - Who is Sharon? What exactly was her relationship with Jonathan? How and why did they end their partnership?

This story takes place between books two & three of the Songs of Submission Series, while Jonathan is on the business trip in San Francisco...

During these same moments in Los Angeles, Monica is reeling from the bombshell dropped by ex-wife Jessica... She is seriously re-thinking her attachment to Jonathan.

Turns out that Jonathan was re-thinking his attachment to her as well, but going in an entirely different direction. He's ending things with the other women in his life, reminiscing about his time with Monica, and wondering how to move forward for the first time since his divorce...

JONATHAN DRAZEN
Jonathan talking about Monica: "The first time I talked to her, in my office, she was a waitress at me hotel. I looked at her, trying to figure out why she looked so tangible, so present. Every curve looked exactly right. Even her skin is this perfect color [...] She saw me looking, and she stood with her hands on her hips, daring me to get an eyeful. No fear. She filled that fucking room... She took my breath away..."
SHARON
Jonathan thinking about breaking it off with Sharon: Sharon had been exquisite. Attractive, willing, discreet and far away, she's do what I told her without question, talk to me about anything and never open her mouth about who she screwed four or five days a month...
I'm such a sucker for the Male POV, and Jonathan's did not disappoint. I felt that his split from Sharon was far more satisfying that the dramatic encounter with Jessica in the previous book, though I doubt we've seen the last of either of these women...

Jonathan will say his goodbyes to his submissive mistress,Sharon, in San Francisco. It looks like he wants to dedicate himself to Monica.
At least Sharon looks nicer than Jessica. Jonathan is still the same cocky man.

“You going to be okay without me?”
“You only show up once a month, and you’re too gentle anyway.”

And before the book finishes, we learn that there is also a Rachel in the picture. Hah?

So now I'm reeling, again.!!

Jonathan Drazen is a Wanker, it's Official.
Mind you, with those Big, Blue, Cannon Balls hanging between his legs, it's no surprise he'd need to give those swimmers a helping hand and, honestly, spraying your tadpoles in the confines of the bathroom on your private jet is a stratum above the average jizz-drizzling venue.

Anyway, having resisted Jessica's advances, it was essential to take the urge out of his final meeting with Sharon. Yeah, our boy passed that test with flying colours, he's determined to keep the faith with Monica even though, at this point, Monica doesn't even know that Sharon exists. He's honest with Sharon, thanks her for helping him understand himself and even offers to gift her the apartment he's set her up in.
She seems fine with it but she's got questions too. And I'm not convinced she thinks this is a permanent goodbye. They've clearly both decided they're not HEA material as a couple, but I get the feeling she hasn't given up on him yet. She wanted a farewell fuck he wouldn't give her, and that 'send you off in a cab' scene was way too amicable.

Aaaaahhhhhh.!!! CD you always pose more questions than you answer .!!
Ok, so we NOW know that Debbie's friendship with Jonathan is on a whole different level to what we thought. She set him up with Sharon and, therefore, knows all about his BDSM kink; AND he trusted her to assess and evaluate Monica on his behalf, very interesting.
Jonathan is really worried as to what Jessica has told Monica, and it's now clear that the broken wrist was the least of his worries. It throws a new light on the relief he must have felt when Monica told him that was her issue. But then, oh Christ, now the questions are coming thick and fast. Who is Rachel that needs to be moved, what do the sisters have to be silenced about, why is Jonathan's father laughing at him, who the hell is Thomas, and we already know about the hospital, but not what went on there; and then our boy admits that there are OTHER fires that need fighting and that publication of his 'issues' could allow his Residents Group to 'Take Him Down'. This is looking hot and heavy.!!!

Looks like we need some CONTROL, and real soon too.!!!

How can we walk away from this with more questions than answers! I love this series and I love that C.D. is giving us these teasers that are driving us nuts!

Jonathan - what are we going to do with you? So far you are doing your best to color within the lines and that your intentions are to be with Monica, while you are at least - with Monica. You've shed that nasty ex-wife of yours, for now and you say your farewells to Sharon...but then Rachel pops into Jonathan's head...Who in the eff is Rachel? The fact that he has to touch bases with his sisters and his father...I expect that Jonathan has a mighty big secret hidden away.

I am so in need of the next fix!

Jonathan breaks up with Sharon. This was the neatest and most amicable break up ever. Sharon sounds like an interesting character, but I'm glad Jonathan let her go without one last fling. He is honest and has integrity, makes me love him even more. I liked seeing Monica through Jonathan's eyes, lets me know he is as desperate for her as she is for him.

Again this isn’t like a book it’s just like Jonathan’s POV and I got a little insight but I was bored and I’m tired of the very vague stuff in someone’s on life like “Jessica knows my past” like we’re supposed to be inside your mind so why aren’t you saying what it is.

It was nice to see Johnathan tell Sharon that he didn’t want to be with her anymore and that he was choosing Monica, but I wanted to see more panic when he was faced with the prospect of losing Monica.

This is a collision of music, art, BDSM, dominance, submission, possession, obsession, guilt, unresolved love, unforgettable sex and memorable characters.

CD Reiss masterfully weaves a plot full of mystery and suspense while giving us erotic love scenes to rival all best selling books in any genre.

I fell in love with Jonathan from the first. Just like Monica, this man was so real and mysterious that he immediately gripped my heart and did not let go. I adore Monica with her sarcastic view of life and quick wit. She is a survivor and fighter. She deserves to succeed. The way the story evolves, her path to success and a happy ending is not a given and is fraught with obstacles.

I became very emotional while reading this series. I have to admit that I experienced every emotion possible to a human being while I devoured these pages. At the end, I was sobbing relentlessly, unable to control myself. I had no clue how CD Reiss was going to end the series and I must tell you the ending will ... surprise you. I did not expect it after reading all the installments.

NO SPOILERS HERE! This is one of those series that any reader of romance and erotica must read. It is unique in the quality of the writing and its plot line. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a superb book and loves life.

Okay, well I feel like Jessica and Sharon might as well be the same book, since they happen right after each other and are both super short, so I'm just going to copy and paste this review for both books.

I'm really glad that we FINALLY got some answers about Jonathan's feelings for Monica and Jessica. I was feeling really iffy about continuing on with this series after the third book, because I was having trouble shipping Monica and Jonathan romantically, but these little novellas helped me get over that and now I'm really excited to see what happens in this next book!

The only reason I rated these three stars instead of higher is because they were so short that there wasn't much to judge them on in terms of their quality.

The thing I enjoyed most about this one was Jonathan's insights on his need for domination: why he needs it, why he's unfulfilled without it & how frustrated he is that his wife continues to refuse him; it's mostly a reflection on their relationship. He reflects back on how Sharon (a sub in San Francisco that he's been in a casual relationship for years) helped him explore & define his needs while helping him develop his skills. It also says a lot about how much he loves/loved his wife to entertain the notion of giving up his needs for domination to keep her-made me like him more.

Tease!!
BUT with more insights in world of THE Jonathan Drazen and his woman of interest - He makes my head spin and throb - amongst other things!!
He must have one whopper of secret!! To strategically move all the pawns in his life around so that Monica is shielded from the truth - cant wait for more! Thanks C.D.

Each POV of Jonathan made me feel he is a real human character fighting with his own and still searching not that he doesnt know what he liked but who until he knew it but scared of different things like his likes and his tons of secrets... and names keep pooping up.
hope that control would give out the mysteries.
