Varg is a renowned bounty hunter, an expert survivalist, and among other things, a half-breed. After accepting what seems like another routine job, he meets a half-elf huntress named Milea who has been framed for murder. Upon proving her innocence, he unwittingly becomes a wanted criminal himself. Varg and Milea join forces and set out to clear their names, all the while avoiding deadly assassins trying to kill them at every turn. With every twist and turn, they soon discover that the murder victim was involved in a dangerous crime ring led by an entity known only as the Serpent.
Varg must summon every ounce of courage he has in order to find the will to keep fighting, but his haunting memories of the past could prove to be the worst enemy of all . . .
I have been writing stories since I was 11 years old. Reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is what got me into fantasy. I also occasionally like a good murder mystery or thriller.
I live with my husband and daughter in Southwestern Louisiana.
To start, I received a copy of this from the author for a honest review (then I went and bought it on Amazon).
I still remember coming across this a year ago, the synopsis looked interesting so I emailed the author asking about it. She got back to me pretty quick saying it's in the works, and she had some preview chapters on Facebook - now a year later I finally got my hands on it.
So happy I found this, Varg, a half-jotun bounty hunter gets caught up in a nice mystery when hes paid to find half-elf Milea. Of course, the two eventually settle their differences (after he throws her out a window) and now both wanted - to prove his innocence, he has to prove Milea's.
This was a nice light read, decent action and I really liked the characters of Varg and Milea. Some parts had me scratching my head, when certain villains are planning ambushes and setting traps, I would think a few centuries old lone wolf like Varg would be able to sniff these out...
But the journey the 2 half-breeds go on was fun to read, and the hints at a deeper darker past had me very curious to learn more about Varg. The flashbacks were well done and provided a deeper glimpse into why Varg is who he is. The last-half of the book was solid and I always love me some nice battles.
Looking forward to more Half Breed books, I'll pick them up for sure.
