Returning home after twelve years away may be the best and worst decision writer Andi Harper could make. Too many things left un-said and too many goodbyes put on hold. When she finally faces the truth aided by her best friend in the world Mike, she rekindles her love affair with childhood sweetheart Laine, after a life time of believing that when things are too good to be true, they usually are, she is just waiting for it to be snatched from under her and her world to crash down before her eyes.

What a compete journey Melissa Rutter takes us on in Shadows Lost. I read this incredible story in under 24 hours because I just had to know what was happening next.
The story of Andi and her relationship failings, see her run to her childhood friend, Mike. But during their recollections we travel back to a happier time and delve into Andi's past and meet her first love, Laine.

After 12 years of "living" a trip back down memory lane would see an old flame reappear. But would he be the same man she knew? Would they feel that instant pull they had?
A devastating loss would turn poor Andi's life upside down...but she wouldn't be left alone. She would be left with the the gift of the man she fell for.

In amongst this terribly grief filled time, Mike, her best friend poses a question to be there for her. But in more of a sense that she was capable of accepting. But would she be able to see him in a different light? Could their once friendship morph into love?

What I adored Andi for was her absolute resilience and strength. She never faltered at all the obstacles in her way. Her character was one of great strength, courage and pure love.

As her relationship with Mike seems to take a spiral a new work colleague would turn her head. Giving her the final answer to know things needed to change and answers were needed. The truth that Mike had with held from her during their friendship/relationship would be yet another reason for her to reconsider that she needed to be alone.

But oh lord the ending. Cliffhanger central. Be warned! I swear I am on the edge of my chair and staying there for the duration until I read the next instalment of this mind blowing read.
The characters were incredible, the story line faultless, the story flowed consistently (if not too bloody well because I couldn't put it down!) and what more can I say but wow.

Melissa Rutter blew me away in this incredible 5 star book. Highly recommend!

best book i've probably ever read! I was hooked from the second i started reading it. You have a brilliant way of writing that allows just enough detail for the imagination to play the scenes over and over. I will continue to recommend this book to as many people as i can because its seriously worth it. i cannot wait for the follow on ;) hurry up!!
