This is a fine intro to the early and mid 20th century history of Syria, but it kind of falls apart as it gets into the 80s. It devolves into a timeline with bullet point entries, and I'm left with the feeling that things happened in the gaps worth knowing about. Good starting point, definitely not a place to stop.
