They say if you’re going to dance with the Devil, you might as well lead.

I lied…My name isn’t Cecilia. When the doors of my past were pried open, all of my skeletons came tumbling out. I’d lived my whole life thinking the worst had already happened, and nothing else could hurt me.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

In the wreckage I’m reborn. I’ll do anything to get my revenge on those who’ve wronged me and the man who stole my throne, My uncle. But finding my way back will be painful, especially with the leaders of the Black Crow Brotherhood trying to keep me under their thumb.

And now I owe them.

Mateo Kane, Santo Álvarez, and Ronan Zerkos; they’ve wormed their way into my heart and under my skin. Will my lies and betrayals cost me the trust of the three men left on my side?

I may leave behind a trail of ruin in my path, but I’ve bled for the truth and I know now; when you’re born a Queen you’ll die a Queen. I’ll let the whole world go to waste if it means I’m buried with my crown.

I never said I wasn’t the bad guy.
Welcome home, Célia Flóres.

Santana Knox is a Brazilian author, a South American immigrant, a mother, wife and witch.

Santana got tired of letting the voices in her head drive her crazy, and decided to write down the stories they were begging to tell instead. A lover of the unusual, and a hopeless romantic when it comes to toxic villains, Santana's books should always be taken with a grain of salt, specifically the kind that keeps demons away.

Dark, Bold, and Unpredictable—But Missing Some Depth

The second novel in the Reina del Cártel trilogy, Reign of Ruin by Santana Knox, delves further into Celia Flores‚ quest of revenge, reclamation, and rediscovery. Celia, formerly known as "Cecilia," is a complex heroine troubled by her past, family betrayals, and a strong desire to restore her kingdom and identity. The description introduces an intriguing premise: Celia is coming to rise from the ashes, even if it means causing havoc and disaster in her wake. She is willing to confront the men who have wronged her, even if it means sacrificing all for power. Knox does not shy away from dark issues, power dynamics, or emotional romance, and I was quickly hooked by this universe.

Reign of Ruin - Review

Reign of Ruin ♦ Santana Knox

Opinion

Celia is one of the book’s most interesting characters. She’s shamelessly imperfect, bold, and, at times, vicious, refusing to fit into the „good-girl“ cliché so common in dark romance. She’s willing to play the „bad guy“ if it brings her closer to vengeance and freedom, and her growth is gritty and real. Watching her battle not only her uncle but also the strong Black Crow Brotherhood kept me on the edge. Mateo, Santos, and Ronan are all fascinating individuals in their own right, and the conflict between Celia and these guys is palpable. Their relationships are convoluted, with treachery, desire, and genuine loyalty intertwined, left me wondering who will stand by Celia and who will eventually betray her.

Knox is an expert at building tension and creating steamy, suspenseful moments. Her writing adds a vivid, even cinematic dimension to Celia’s world, and the cartel underground is both gritty and glamorous. For enthusiasts of dark romance, this is a treat: forbidden romances, morally ambiguous characters, and the never-ending question of who will ultimately prevail keep the pages moving. The book is also gloriously unabashed in its examination of Celia’s sexuality, which distinguishes Reign of Ruin from the why choose genre.

However, Reign of Ruin does have certain negatives. While the plot is powerful and fascinating, several portions felt repetitious, particularly those involving Celia’s inner issues. Although the layers of her pain and passion for vengeance are gripping, they occasionally appear to eclipse other aspects of the tale, such as the Black Crow Brotherhood’s past and the larger cartel dynamic. I also wish the relationships were better developed, especially given how important Mateo, Santos, and Ronan are to Celia’s trip. Their personalities are intriguing, but a deeper exploration of their past would have brought depth to their respective journeys.

Pacing can also be uneven. There are times when it feels like a lot is happening without much plot movement. While the slower periods show Celia’s fragility and resolution, the plot can be confusing. Perhaps these moments are intended to reflect Celia’s own uncertainties and gradual journey from ruin to power.

Conclusion

★★★½☆

In a nutshell, Reign of Ruin is a compelling, darkly enjoyable read for readers of dark romance and powerful heroines who aren’t scared to face the world. Santana Knox brings Celia’s narrative to life with passion and a gutsy voice, resulting in a work that will keep readers wondering. It is not without problems, but the sheer intensity and intriguing personalities more than compensate for them. If you’re willing to enter Celia’s dark world and root for her embodiment of „queen“ justice, this is a book worth reading.

This second book was much darker than its predecessor and I was so there for all of that darkness danger and betrayal. This was also much spicier than book one dialling the heat up dramatically. Things also have swung upside down when it comes to the men in Celia’s life Mateo is now her rock whilst Santo is struggling with a decision that could cost him everything. Finally, Ronan is finding it hard to come to terms with how Celia wants the new status quo to be. A lot was going on here and I was gripped and invested in everything and am now anticipating the conclusion. Do check your triggers though as this series is dark.

This second book really spins things for Celia and her potential partners. There is angst, danger, betrayal and the revelation of some quite enlightening truths that do put the characters through the grinder.

Ronan, that is the one that I wanted to strangle throughout the first book and here things are not much different. Mateo certainly has stepped up and he has been there for Celia. Now, Santo... such a tender soul. He is such a little surprise, it is not a common occurrence to find loyalty when the war for power and domination is vicious.

Whenever I read a Santana Knox book, I know I am in for a challenge and this is no exception. The characters are unhinged, manipulative and vicious. However, they somehow make it work because despite the toxicity between Ronan and Celia, it is pretty obvious that that type of connection is indestructible. I still cannot say whether I love the main characters or hate them, but the plot itself has certainly drawn me in.

Ceci is unhinged, here we go again
Do I love them more because they are all getting worse at each page? Yes.
I feel with this book we are touching a little bit more on Ceci and how she sees herself, dealing with the trauma mixed with her thirst to belong. This book has a lot of sad boy Santo too, and I won’t complain because we need these characters to evolve and that’s what are they doing. Each one of them have a great arc from book 1 and I’m just so utterly invested.
I love Mateo more than ever, I’m hoping Ronan finds peace with his new place in her life. And you know, sad boy Santo.
But mostly, I can’t wait for Cecilia to kick ass. She has so many layers, sometimes takes me a second to realize she’s just fictional. All of them, are so damaged, layered and difficult in their own way.
I love this, love this series. I need book 3.

I about had a heart attack reading that last chapter!! Like WHAT.THE.FUUUUUUUUUUU

This series is so good and full of action! I love how the harem is handled; the fact that it’s giving Ronan a hard time makes perfect sense. Mateo is still super adorbs and I do feel bad for Santo- even though I’m still a bit annoyed for what he did.

I also like that Cecilia’s chapter name changed to Celia and she got all bad ass.

But seriously, I need book 3 now. The amount of pain and hurt this harem is going through is insane!

The only irritating thing for me rn is how she is portrayed as some badass with all this training she got from her father but she keeps getting captured the same fucking way each time? EACH TIME? You're telling me she can't do hand to hand combat? Be so fr

The story continues to hold my interest but it's starting to get to be far more unbelievable than I can ignore. The main character goes through so much physical violence in the space of 24 hours and somehow is able to have sex multiple times with no mention of being in pain.

She's hit multiple times in the face, drugged, gets into a bad car accident, her bare skin is dragged across gravel. And a few hours later she's having sex. No mention of being sore or having full body bruises. It was hard to get into the scenes because I kept thinking how uncomfortable it would be. I'm not even gonna bother addressing that scene with Santo and the gun😐

Overall, it was entertaining and I'll probably read the third book. But right now I feel like I need a pallette cleanser.

Why is every dark romance author obsessed with having a scene where they fuck the girl with a gun. Also pls tell me what the button is in this scene

“She bucked her hips, pushing herself deeper into my mouth, and I speared two fingers inside her without hesitating. I found that button inside her with ease and rubbed my fingers along it while savagely sucking on her clit like It was the best meal I’d ever had. ”

Overall I just found this book to be nothing special from other dark romance reverse harems idk, also why does it take 20,000 years to get something to happen damn

WTF!!!! Yes...WTF Santana Knox. 😯😯😯😯 I know I like a good cliffy, but WTF!!???!! I wasn't ready for that ending lol. Before I continue, I do want to mention that this book has some triggers that you should check out. Especially if you are unsure or if somethings do bother you. Reign Of Ruin does have trigger warning information at the beginning of the book, so that should help. But this book is a little dark. You have been warned! 😈
Reign Of Ruin was flucken epic guys. From beginning to end! So much happens in this book that I was drawn to it like a moth drawn to a flame! Célia made me flucken proud guys. I can't say that I dislike her father, but because of him. She is who she is, and I am all for it! Especially in this book!!! 🖤
Ronan.....well that man has issues obviously lol. But I would like to say that I am content with him now. Santo.....I'm sorry but I just can't with that man. I am still hurt and disappointed in him. Even though nothing was done to me, it felt like he did do it to me. Now Mateo, I fell in love with that man. He owns a part of my heart and soul!! 🖤 There was so much growth in this book and sooooo much laughter as well. Like I really laughed my donkey off. There were moments that took my breath away and some where I did shed a tear...but of course I am not going to tell you why. All I am going to say is that you should be prepared. By the end of this book, Santana Knox ripped my heart out and is holding onto it. Ma'am I want it back and I want it all to be fixed please lol. 🖤 😝
The spicy smut though...please keep that going! I am all for it! lol 💦🔥😝 It gets better and better! The ending though! Well as I said before...cliffy!! Good luck with that lol. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have. 🖤
Happy Reading! 😈

Reina del Cártel series by @santana.knox was a freakin' wild ride! Loved every minute!
First let me say, I went in not realizing *cliffhangers*! I rarely read books with cliffhangers because I don't feel like I have enough time to read series like this. Too many books and I jump around so often. BUT THIS SERIES Y'ALL!!! I finished book 1 and was instantly one clicking this one.

Okay... the review... really is it needed after that beginning?!?! LOL
This is a cartel, why choose (RH), dark romance, enemies to lovers with a bad a$$ FMC and morally grey, yummy MMCs.
Cecilia Flores is heir to the cartel throne. She was preparing for this role since she was young. But after her dad is k!llėd, and she is too young to take over, she goes into hiding. Whoever placed the hit on her dad, would come after her next.
She moves in with her high school boyfriend Ronan and his best friend, Santos. But when things get real, and their dealings touch on her family and the secret of who she is, she bolts.

Years pass and she comes back to Ronan for help when she has no one to turn to... and this is where things HEAT UP! Ronan runs the city with his two best friends. He's powerful and has connections. And all he wants to do is make Cecilia pay for hurting him. Their intense connection can be felt and is oh so good.
Santos has loved her since their young days. He's hurt and loyal to Ronan.
Mateo is Ronan's friend from the military. He is the perfect guy to move the story along.

But it is not only about the "love story". The story takes off and you witness Cecilia's strength and fierceness!
Highly recommend!

I received a free copy of Reign of Ruin and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Santana Knox has created another wonderful book. I devoured this as quickly as I could and couldn't put it down, which is a problem because now I'm stuck here waiting for Empire of Carnage.

The story gets so much darker and I'm not afraid to admit I cried for Santos a few times in this. His parts of Reign of Ruin were everything I never thought I needed, but I also hated with a passion. He has quite the arc and honestly, he's slowly overtaking Mateo as my favourite. I can only hope for something this great in Empire of Carnage.

I'm always a fan of using snippets of a language other than English and Santana does it wonderfully. As well, she also included a glossary for your reference which is handy for those not using a device to translate for you. For the most part, there is also a line that gives you a general idea of what the spanish word(s) are shortly after it being used so you don't need to jump to the glossary if you don't want to.

The cliffhanger was so much more than I expected and I'm not sure I was ready for it. This book is a real tear jerker and you don't quite know whats going happen at any given time. It'll be even more important for you to check your triggers this time round as it gets crazy.

This is book two in the series and ends on a major cliffhanger so make sure to read book one in the series and check trigger warnings. we pick up with the boys frantic to get their girl back while trying to find out the truth she's hiding and who their rat is that snuck intel to their enemies. through out the book each of the characters has to learn to grow and learn and be honest with not only themselves but the group in order to put an end to the madness. we see the relationships between each of the MMC's and the FMC develop in their own way as they learn to migrate their way not only through this chaotic situation but their relationships and love they have for each other. I loved seeing the FMC gain a backbone and step into the roll she was made for and the men start to take a little bit of a backseat and let her grow. I also loved the seeing them work through their issues and my favorite is still Mateo Kane although they each have their own uniqueness to them i find him to be my favorite. I am ready to see the ending because although our FMC has moments where she wants to give up we see her gain strength and persevere and I know in this final book it will have an epic ending. Absolutely loved this one.

Tropes: enemies-to-lovers, dark romance, RH
This series is INTENSE and I am absolutely loving it! With the conclusion of the first book, Mateo, Santo, and Ronan still don’t know what or who Celia is running from – and now it’s too late because she’s been taken. The crazy sexual tension between Celia and her three men and the jealousy that arises from all of it keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole book. I loved learning more about Celia’s past, although it was a very dark and twisted past as we saw in the first book.
The men all have demons of their own they are struggling with which means there is near constant contention between all four of them. Not only that – we finally find out who Santo has been tasked with assassinating – and it’s not good news.

The push and pull of Celia’s relationships and the lies and drama that are created made this book a super fast read for me! I couldn’t put it down. This book ends on another crazy cliffhanger so be warned!

Thank you to the wonderful Santana Knox for the ARC provided for my honest review.

Wow! Just.. WOW!
Overall: 5 Stars

This dark, twisted, and very morally gray sequel to Queen of Nothing was not a disappointment! I smiled, laughed, and cried during this book.
Santana Knox has a way of grasping hold of the reader and submerging them so far into the story, that you are left feeling raw, exposed, and breathless. The ending left me gutted and so angry at yet another cliffhanger. But just like the first book, I am immediately going to start reading the conclusion to this trilogy "Empire of Carnage." I can't get enough of these characters!

"My heart was breaking all over again, but even stoking the tumultuous rage that throbbed inside me, I knew I would allow her to continue to break me over and over again. Because I would always come back to her, I would always look after her. From the first time I ever saw her, I knew she was mine to protect."

This book!! I do not have the words! I won’t ever stop talking about how good this series is!!!

Santana.. I love you.
I devoured this book, I honestly could not put it down.

Mateo Kane owns my heart and soul. I’m not even going to pretend I don’t have favourites anymore. It’s him!!

Yes this book is darker than the first, but the story builds to it so well.

I love how much stronger Celia is becoming and trying to find her rightful place in the world.

My heart broke for Santo. I wanted to slap him at times, but I got it and I was so drawn into his emotions and struggles.

I love Celia’s interactions with Cezar. I liked him in the first book and I’m just hoping he truly has his moment at redemption soon.

I highlighted so much of this book. Yes I think a lot were quotes from Mateo..!

That ending though! I feel like my heart has been ripped out. I NEED the next book now!! Pleaseeee!!

OMG

One thing I absolutely love is when a sophomore book jumps right into the action with no need for introductions. That’s what this book does. It takes you immediately from the pages of book into chapter 1 here without a second’s hesitation. Santana doesn’t pull any punches in this one. Just because we know our main players doesn’t mean she’s letting us off easy. There are still secrets to unfold, wars to start and finish, confessions to make, and love to give. Mateo, Zerkos, and Santos really had no idea what they were doing when they decided to keep Cecilia, but they’re finding out the very hard way. Santana keeps readers on their toes as they have to fight to enjoy sweet moments (well as sweet as it gets with our lovely band of psychos)) with the threat of storm clouds hanging over every chapter. The ending….I didn’t see coming, although maybe I should have. Can’t wait for book 3.

Advanced Reader Copy (but I bought the first book and I'm honest af!!!)

Santana freaking Knox, everybody!!!

This second installment of Reina Del Cártel was ridiculously exciting! I did that thing where I lost track of where I was in the book and finished it without realizing I was doing so because I was just that engrossed in Santana's writing! I hate that feeling lol but it's the sign of fantastic writing.

I just... WHAT?! I thought that Book 1's cliff hanger got me but this one!!! This one has me pissed off and wanting more!! The drama, the love, the lies, and the violence of Reign if Ruin is absolutely unmatched for me. This book was entertaining throughout and I'm so looking forward to reading (as well as freaking dreading) the last installment.

I don't want my feelings hurt anymore aahhhhh!!! 😂 These 4 characters are dangerous and alluring and I can't get enough of them!

The beginning starts just how book one left off but has me also questioning wtf is going on. Cecelia has been through some rough shit & we find out exactly what her life was like when she was younger.

Mateo. Need I say more? He completely won me over in this book. I couldn’t get enough of him. I love the way Cecilia & him grow closer.

I still don’t forgive Ronan for the stuff he did, but he’s alright. He has a lot of leftover hurt from Cecilia to work through before they could get to a better place.

Santos. Santos. Santos. I just don’t know how to feel about him. I’m hurt by his betrayal. I thought with the way book 1 was & with his and Cecilias past there would be no way. But 😬😬😬

Santana Knox really said let’s up the ✨spice✨ and I’m totally here for it 👏🏼👏🏼

Also beware of the major cliffy because 😳🤭😵‍💫🙃

There is just something about Santana's writing style and the plots and all that keeps a reader invested. I just really love how her stories plan out which is why I've continued reading her books. Mateo is of course my favorite following Ronan when he's not being an a$$ and then Santos because he has an issue that needs to be resolved and when they're left unchecked he tends to move impulsively... But I love him. I also love just how our Reina is powerful and confident to know what she wants and how to get it including her men and her empire back.

I just love this series.

This is the second book I've read today and I'll be reading book three soon as well. But don't everrrr scare me like that towards the end. I hurriedly began reading the next hook contents just so i can see the point of views and ease my worries!! 😂

Reign of Ruin is book #2 in the Reina Del Cartel series. Its a dark reverse harem. Make sure to check the trigger warning!

I cant wait for the next book! That ending has me wanting to cry!!!

Santana wasn't kidding when she said it gets darker in this one!! Celia, Ronan, Santo and Mateo go thru so much in this book!!! I was on the edge of my seat with my fingers crossed no one would get hurt, then Santana throws that cliffhanger that ripped my heart apart at us!

You might be angry at a few characters, wanna smack a few of them, but you will fall even more in love with all of them over the course of this book.

I wasn't ready for how emotional this book made me, but I absolutely loved it so much!

I can't wait for Empire of Carnage!!!!

This is book 2 in the Reina Del Cartel series. You must read book 1. We see a little bit more on Cecilia self reflection and how she’s dealing with the trauma mixed with her wanting to belong. Mateo, Santo and Ronan knows Cecilia is hiding something from them and when they find out it changes everything. The sexual tension was off the chart especially since they are all unhinged. I devoured this in one sitting as I could and couldn't put it down.

This book had me locked in from page one! I loved that it started right where book one left off, and that we got to see Celia embrace her dark side. I loved seeing her relationships with the boys develop in different ways because well duh they’re all very different people. It was also really great to learn more about Mateo, Santo and Ronan and see how each of them have a different piece of Celia’s heart. And holy shit the cliffhanger was absolutely brutal but so amazing because I did not see that coming!

I’m seriously obsessed with Santana Knox’s writing and can’t wait to finish the series in book three!

There are very dark themes in this book so make sure to check TWs!

This book was much darker and more intense than book 1. In this book celias lies have finally caught up with her and the truth is revealed to everyone about who she truly is. Santos is losing his mind warring between having her and risking everyone or losing her and keeping his people safe. So much happens in this book and the spice between Celia and the men is incredible. Ronan is finally starting to realize that if he wants to keep her he needs to let her be who she is and with all of them instead of on her own. This was action packed and heart wrenching in the best ways. And that cliffhanger was brutal definitely jumping into the next book right away.

Not gonna lie, this was an intense read. Celia getting kidnapped, drugged and beaten was not easy to read. Especially because of how much I really like her.

I am so glad that they were able to rescue her and I’m so glad that Ronan saved her from that overdose. But the highlight of them finding out who she is. Hot damn, those videos Taylor uncovered. Wow… just wow.
The way that Celia is letting her true self shine! Yea baby! I’m glad she went to visit Cesar and put him in his place and Ronan and Mateo’s surprise at seeing her like that.

And poor Santos, I love him but I feel so bad for his struggle. But I wish he would talk to everyone instead of the solo struggle.

The spice in this series is done so well! It ties into the book well and is not added just to be added.
