The object of this book is to report the story of the most fabulous mineral hunt and stock selling spree in all history. It attempts to bring the uranium craze of the early fifties into perspective, put the amateur dreamer back on his feet, prick the bubble of quick millions, and report what the scientific dreamers are thinking. It does not tell the reader how to find uranium and walk away to buy his first yacht. It is the story of uranium you would have read had it all been published in one edition of your newspaper. This book attempts to tell why these people came to the Four Corners country and what they did when they got there. Very few of the tenderfoot prospectors ever thought or cared about how that surprising scenery was created or how the uranium got there in the first place. The amateur bonanza hunter was interested only in what the government would pay him for something it already owned.
