Rather disappointing

Since I don't have a debit/ credit card ,I couldn't pre- order this at the lower price.I paid $6.99 for prequels,snippets of stories that are finished in other existing series.Really none of the stories are stand- alones.If I had known that,I wouldn't have bought this.I dislike cliffhangers,which most of these stories had.

I love Anthologies! I get to meet new authors and also get to read stories by authors I love! Each story is unique and all are incredible!

A Taste Of Sin by Alta Hensley and Renee Rose….is a delightfully, sexy story. Marco is in the Mafia and likes to frequent Sins, which is where he meets Taylor. When a mishap between them happens, Marco knows of one way to make things right. And what a way it is! I enjoyed this story very much!

Gemma’s Release by Becca Jameson…what a heart wrenching story. Gemma is a young girl who was abducted and was made to be a slave, but she knew in her heart that someday she would be rescued. Damon has always had a soft spot for Gemma, so when she goes missing, he is bound and determined to find her. This story is about second chances and overcoming a horrible ordeal. Gemma and Damon are such a perfect match, I need more of them!

Protected By Him by Measha Stone….whoa, what a story! I love Mafia stories and one with Polish themes…oh yes! Dmitri has a soft spot for Alexsandra and wants to protect her when she encounters a not so nice person. But she has other ideas, like running away, but Dmitri will move Heaven and Earth to find her. These two have sizzling chemistry but they also made me laugh. I found this story to be quite endearing and I wanted more of these two!

The Ceremony by Natasha Knight & Ashleigh Zavarelli…is a story of forbidden love, in a way. Emmanuel and Raven are from two families who are bound by a curse. Neither can act on their feelings, yet both want to. For a short story, the intensity of emotions was very high. Raven is fierce and Emmanuel is all alpha. Can these two ever be together? I certainly hope so! And I hope a full length story is written about them! I need more.

Punishing His War Bride by Sue Lyndon…who doesn’t love an Alien/Human story?! Fiona & Merokk are hot, hot, hot! They are married and adore each other, so when he goes off to battle, she is worried and does something that defies his orders. When he finds out? Holy hotness! I enjoyed this story and definitely am going to read the story of how they began!

Top by Cole Denton…is about a young man, Andrew, who has had so much tragedy in his life. What helps him is to be a “bottom” but he doesn’t have a lot of experience. So he decides to join a party, but it’s not at all what he expected. James is at that party and know Andrew is unhappy. So James decides to take him under his wing. I found this story to be informative and helpful in understanding an aspect of the BDSM world.

Dangerous Professions by Livia Grant…well, well, well, what a story! Hot, intense and totally loved it. Kayla is a bit of a spoiled “actress” and Randy, who is her new agent, doesn’t take well to disobedience, so he plans on giving Kayla a lesson or two. And what a lesson it is! I do believe Kayla will never act up again! So good!!

Eternal Obsessions by Julia Sykes…Sofia and Mateo are life! These two have such a deep seated passion for each other. While their start into a relationship surely wasn’t typical, Mateo will do anything to protect his beautiful wife. Even if it meant hurting or killing someone. Quite a bit goes on in this story and it will make your head spin. I have to say that this story held me captive from beginning to end!

Attitude Adjustment by Jenna Jacob….an incredible story from beginning to end. I loved Mika and Julianna! The intensity of love they have for each other just flew off the pages. He is her Dom and she is his Slave, but they are so much more than that. This shows that sometimes life gets in the way and you need to find yourself again, such as the case with Julianna. Mika needs to show her how special and important she is to him. I loved this story and need more of these two!

And She is Lust by Annabel Joseph…this story definitely kept me on edge. Price and Chere have a different kind of a marriage when it comes to discipline. While at first I cringed a bit, but as I read, this is how their dynamic is and they truly love each other. He is very Dominant and all alpha but loves Chere with all his heart. These two are made for each other!

Bite of Pain (10/16-10/30)
Bite of Pain is an amazing collection of all new short stories with connections to previous series. All involve some sort of painful pleasure, consequences for actions, and delightful steamy scenes. My TBR pile has also now grown exponentially, haha! I enjoyed reading every single one of these stories!

Taste of Sun by Renee Rose and Alta Hensley, part of the Den of Sins series - Marco has had his eye on Taylor for months, but when she hits his car, he takes his chance to show her how pleasurable pain can be. Will she agree to be his beyond the one night? This was short, steamy, and so sweet! I really enjoyed reading the connection that forms between Marco and Taylor and all of the passion that follows. Taylor is curious, submissive, and I loved how she flourished under Marco’s hand. Marco is a dominant and possessive mafia man, and I loved his instant claim. This was a great way to open this collection and it made me want to read more from this world!

Gemma’s Release by Becca Jameson, part of the Roses and Thorns series - Gemma was captured and trained to be a slave for three years when Damon saved her. As she adjusts with the love of her life, will she be able to handle his dominance? Holy smokes, this book is seriously emotional, full of painful healing, but also so full of love. Gemma and Damon were absolutely perfect together, and I adored that he was willing to give her what she needed, but not at the expense of her mental or physical health. I loved their chemistry, I loved their passion, and I loved the way he supported her. I definitely want to read and find out more about this series, but might need to bring some tissues.

Protected by Him by Measha Stone, part of the Mafia Brides series - Aleksandra works as a waitress for an underground gambling circle, but when she sees and causes something she shouldn’t, she runs. When Dmitri catches up to her, he refuses to let her go, but will his stern punishments be enough to keep her safe? Woooo buddy, I loved this story! Anything Miss Measha writes is golden, but I loved this rollercoaster of a story, filled with passion, danger, and revenge. I loved reading about Aleksandra and Dmitri captured my attention right away and I loved their chemistry, his dedication to keeping her safe and secure and all HIS, and I loved her independence and strength. They really made a dynamic couple and I loved reading their story!

The Ceremony by Natasha Knight and A. Zavarelli, a prequel to the Sacrifice Duet - Raven and Emmanuel are generational enemies, brought together by a curse and a feud. Due to the terms and conditions, she’s safe from him, but is he willing to follow the rules or will he go after what he wants? Oh man, the tension in this prequel is so delicious and thick and I’m dying to know what will happen between these two characters!! This is short, ends basically on a cliffhanger, and I want to keep reading this duet and series.

Punishing His War Bride by Sue Lyndon, a follow up story on the first Kall Alien Warriors book - Fiona and Ambassador Merokk have enjoyed the past five years of wedded bliss, even though Merokk is strict and heavy handed with his discipline, but when rebels threaten the tenuous truce and Merokk has to go fight again, will he forgive his war bride’s slights? Woo, this story was short but intense, full of emotion, and I love that it took place with an already established couple. I loved how worried Fiona was for her male, that she was willing to risk facing his wrath, and just wanted to make things right between them again. Merokk needed to not only work through his post blood lust of fighting, but also needed to trust Fiona to never lie. I really enjoyed these characters, and though I did not read their original story, I definitely want to!

Top by Cole Denton, set within the Club Oxygen world - Andrew has committed to a home party, but nothing is as expected and all he wants is an emotional release and to get invited to a more prestigious club. James comes to his rescue, and offers understanding. Is this the beginning to something great? Wow, this story sucked me in really fast and was a great commentary on needing emotional releases and finding them in unlikely and unsafe places. I felt for Andrew and his losses, valued his determination, but was so thankful that James got to him in time before something detrimental happened. James was patient and kind, a Dom that put the needs of a sub before his own. I liked their dynamic. I’d be curious to see if there’s more books featuring them!

Dangerous Professions by Livia Grant, which reads as a stand alone with references to Black Light - Randy is taking over his cousin’s agency and the first client he needs to handle is Kayla. Will this ultimately be a good fit for both of them? This story was heavy on punishing the brat, with some tenderness thrown in. There was some dubious consent with serious consequences, and I have to admit that this was not my favorite of the stories read so far. Randy is stern and doesn’t give Kayla much of a choice. There were aspects about Kayla that I would have liked to have learned more about. They definitely had chemistry!

Eternal Obsessions by Julia Skyes, set within the Captive Series - Sofia and Mateo have been together for three years now, and when one of them is threatened, the other must step in to do what they can to protect, claim, and love each other. Oh man, I adored this story! It was intense and darkly sweet. Sofia and Mateo were obsessed with one another, still constantly claiming the other, and I loved that in this story, they both needed to protect the other from some sort of a situation. Plus, their chemistry was dynamite and I loved his steamy possession! I’m definitely interested in reading the beginning of their story!

Attitude Adjustment by Jenna Jacob, part of the Club Genesis series - Mika and Julianna have lost their way, life pulling them in opposite directions, but when Julianna risks herself and undermines her Dom, Mika steps in to remind her of who’s in charge. But will this situation repeat history? Ohhh my goodness, I loved this story! I don’t know these characters, but there was so much emotion and I felt so connected to them. I cried, I loved both of the main characters’ strength and determination, and I was fully invested right from the start! Mika and Julianna seem to be a fantastic match for each other, so it was awesome to see their dynamic. While I might not have read their original story, I will definitely be picking it up later to focus on! So good!

And She is Lust by Annabel Joseph, part of the Rough Love series - Chere and Price are newly married, but as she pushes buttons and boundaries of their new dynamic to their relationship, he must act in his particular way to bring his wayward wife back in line. Oh my gosh, this was a fantastic short story that was full of passion and pain and very creative punishment scenes for his woman. This couple has a really interesting dynamic that would seem a little dysfunctional at first glance, but they work super well together! I enjoyed both characters and all of the wild circumstances that they encountered together. I also am curious about the beginnings of their relationship and want to read their series!

I have read many of the author’s featured in this anthology. There are a couple that are new to me.
So I’m excited to read what the authors I know have written and excited to read from the ones I have not.

Taste of Sin by Alta Hensley and Renee Rose
The minute I started this novella I knew I was in fora treat.
I laughed so hard in the beginning. It was hilarious just imagining what was happening.
Taylor was at Sins but stays away from the activities that take place there.
She tells herself it’s not her style nor is she interested.
Marco is a frequent visitor to Sins. Each week bringing a different woman.
But his eyes are always on Taylor. He’s been attracted to her since first laying eyes on her.
He flirts in a fun manner each of his visits.
While Taylor is also attracted to him. She in no way willing go out with him.
Until that unfortunate incident.
One that has Marco right where he wants Angel. At his mercy in all ways.
These two are sizzling hot together. Freaking off the charts with the lust.

The Ceremony by Natasha Knight and Ashleigh Zavarelli
If you haven’t read the Sacrifice Duet you need to. It’s outstanding!
You don’t need to have read the duet to understand this story.
The Ceremony introduces us to Raven and Emmanuel.
The has been a contract between the Delacroix and the Wildblood families from many many generations past.
A Delacroix man takes a Wildblood young woman who has the specific birthmark as his bride.
Also part of the contract is that once the offering has made made of the bride, no other male Delacroix is allowed near another Wildblood woman.
But the minute Emmanuel and Raven lay eyes on each other you can feel their energy and vibes towards each other coming to life off the pages.
Holy smokes the intensity with these two is absolutely incredible!
Both know the rules that are put in place but no amount of rules and no contract is about to stop Emmanuel from getting Raven.
I’m so freaking excited and can’t wait for more to come with these two hot dynamic couple.
Ms. Zavarelli and Ms. Knight are very talented authors.
And when they combine forces I always know I’m going to get one hell of a book!

Gemma’s Release by Becca Jameson
What a heartbreaking story this was.
Gemma is abducted, trained to be a slave and is being put up for sale.
I loved that she never gave up hope of being freed and rescued.
She has such inner strength and a determined will.
Damon has always had a soft spot for Gemma.
When she goes missing. He’s determined to move heaven and earth to find her.
The story is about overcoming the worst of horrors and getting a second chance at love.

Protected by Him by Measha Stone
Aleksandra saw something she should have never witnessed.
She’s now on the run from the mafia.
Dimitri has a soft spot for Aleksandra. But when she runs.
His dominant alpha nature comes to the forefront.
He’s about to show her she’s not getting off scot free.
But a punishment is in order. A punishment Dimitri style 😉
I loved these two and the chemistry they have is absolutely sizzling hot!

Punishing his Bride by Sue Lyndon
Fiona and Merokk are an amazing human/alien couple.
They have been married for several years and still as hot as ever.
But Fiona is about to defy his orders when he gets call to off to battle.
She’s about to understand actions have consequences.
And Merokk’s consequences are uniquely his.
Be prepared for some intense hotness.

Andrew is a young man was had so much heartbreak and loss in his life.
He finds comfort in being a “bottom”. He’s still inexperienced in the BDSM world.
Andrew decides to attend a private party where all that are in attendance are strangers to him.
James can feel Andrew is out of his depth and unhappiness pours out of him.
So he takes him under his wing and care.
I liked this story very much.
It was so touching and heartfelt.

And make them rich when they obey the rules.
Kayla is in for a rude awakening and the consequences of her attitude.
Randy style!

Eternal Obsessions by Julia Sykes
Sofia and Mateo are madly and deeply in love with each other.
Mateo needs and demands to be in control and Sofia love’s surrendering.
They are the perfect match and fit for the other.
Oh smokes the passion and lust that’s between them is intense.
When Sofia and her friend find themselves being kidnapped they put up a good fight.
But Mateo comes to the rescue and will kill anyone trying to hurt or take Sofia away from him.
There is also Massimo the handsome Italian wanting his own pound of flesh.
I’m absolutely looking forward to more and can’t wait to read Pretty Hostage.

Attitude Adjustment by Jenna Jacobs
I was captivated from start to finish with this story.
I loved Mika and Julianna.
He is her dom and she is his slave.
The intense love that’s between them came to life off the pages.
But when Julianna stuck up for another sub with her Dominant.
She finds herself in hot water with Mika.
Not because she defended herself and her friend. But because she didn’t seek out her Master for help.
And inadvertently undermined his authority.
Her punishment also has Mika at his hard limit as well.
Which made Julianna feel that just more guilty and contrite.
But Mika also won’t let anyone disrespect his precious slave and also has plans for the so called Dom.
If Julianna thinks he’s forgotten about her punishment she’s in for a surprise.
I really liked this story.
I appreciated the trust between the couple. And the bond that the rest of the dims and subs have for each other.
There were like a family looking out for each other.

And she is Lust by Annabel Joseph
Price and Chere are both very successful people.
They have been married for the past six months now.
Chere’s gay best friend is having his stag party and Chere promises she will check in with Price every hour and be home by three am.
The checkin calls stop coming after midnight and Price is out of his mind with worry.
When he locates her and knows she’s safe. Chere is about to be in a world of hurt.
This couple isn’t like any I’m used to even in the BDSM books I’ve read.
The phrase “a thin line between love and hate” well that about sums up how Chere feels.
I liked the story because for me it was something different and unique.
Just like the couple, Price and Chere.
And after reading this short story I really want to read their whole backstory, The Rough Love Series.

TASTE OF SIN by Alta Hensley & Renee Rose

This is one intense, salacious, kinky, mind-blowing short story! Although I have never read a book by Annabel Joseph, I am looking for one now!

All These stories are arousing and enticing. Just read them to discover how fabulous these authors really are.

More Chere and Price, and it was just as dark and twisted as they always are! We see them as they are newly married, settling in, and how that maybe, Chere settles in a bit too much. These two are hardcore, and they love each other for it, though, maybe not at the moment. The love they do share, the caring they have for each other, that is evident in and throughout all the kink <3

The Ceremony by Natasha Knight and A Zavarelli
Loved that we got to see what happened when Raven and Emmanuel met at The Ceremony. Wonderful set-up to what we really, really, really, need, their story!

This anthology has such a fantastic variety of authors and their stories all have that “bite of pain” interwoven into them. I love that you can read each story quickly. It’s a great way to try out new to you authors and some of your favourite authors too all in one book. All were extremely well written and I highly recommend that you read the Bite of Pain Anthology.

Taste of Sun by Renee Rose & Alta Hensley
Taylor is working as a cocktail waitress at Sins, a BDSM club. Marco is Mafia and Taylor has already caught his eye but she doesn’t mix business with pleasure. When an accident practically throws Taylor into his lap Marco makes the most of it and makes Taylor an offer she can’t afford to refuse. Taylor is given a glimpse of being the clientele at the club instead of staff. I definitely want to read more of their story.

Gemma’s Release by Becca Jameson
Gemma is healing from an awful three years long ordeal ordeal. Damon is by her side every step of the way and very slowly introducing her to BDSM. Slowly, because he does not want to trigger her. This story while steamy in places was very touching too and it emphasises the most important rule in the lifestyle - consent. I really enjoyed it and want more of this series.

Thinking she is in danger Aleksandra goes on the run. Dmitri has an entirely different reason to find her. This story is full of steam and suspense. I really enjoyed it and found myself getting swept along. I particularly liked the connection that was made as to why Aleksandra liked what she was experiencing with Dmitri. I will definitely be checking out the connected series.

The Ceremony by Natasha Knight & A. Zavarelli
A really intriguing short story of instant attraction between Raven and Emmanuel who are forbidden to be together because their siblings are sworn to marry each other. There are PNR elements here including witchcraft which are interesting and I’d love to read more.

Punishing His War Bride by Sue Lyndon
Sci-fi romance. A human / alien romance. Fiona disobeys her alien husband Merokk who has to go to war. Fiona does something to disobey him and there is punishment. Not my usual type of romance but I enjoyed this short story.

Andrew is searching for “something else”. During a confusing private BDSM party he meets James who is very different to the other party goers. Readers of the amazing Club Oxygen series will love discovering how Andrew and James met and if you’re new to the series I’m sure Top will get your full attention. “And so it begins.” Indeed it does! One of my favourite book series.

Dangerous Professions by Livia Grant
Kayla has not been fulfilling her contractual obligations as an adult movie actor and her new agent, Randy isn’t going to let it slide. I really enjoyed this very steamy story. It was fun and fast paced and Randy is very Dominant.

Eternal Obsessions by Julia Sykes
Mateo and Sofia are very committed to each other and their passion knows no bounds. An incident while Mateo is working brings out his male alpha protector side when Sofia is in danger. Very enjoyable read.

Attitude Adjustment by Jenna Jacob
Juliana and Mika was a very enjoyable story. Juliana is a slave to the very intense Mika, her Dom. It was a very interesting read. Don’t want to give anything away so recommend you read it and find out.

And She Is Lust by Annabel Joseph
Chere and Price are recently married and while Chere is at a party she accidentally stays long after her curfew. Price, her husband spends hours tracking her down and is not amused. He takes her home, Chere is sorry but Price takes matters into his own hands. Another enjoyable read.

This compilation is a great way to meet a new author or read something new from favorite one or perhaps reconnect with familiar characters. There's a little something for everyone in this anthology: BDSM, mafia/cartel, witches and alien warriors to name a few.

Love this anthology! Filled with novellas from a number of great authors, i enjoyed each and every one. Who doesn't like a little bite of pain?

Taste of Sin: Taylor works at BDSM club Sins. Of course there are bad boys aplenty. Leaving work there one evening, she hits another car. Panicked, she takes off. What will be the results of this? Did she bite off more than she can handle? How much trouble is she really in? Great read!

Gemmas Release: Gemma has been held captive, taught to be a slave in the most demeaning of manners. Taken after her family was slaughtered, only 1 person keeps her hope alive. Will she survive? endure? thrive? Read it and see!

Protected by Him: Aleksandra works at a Polish bar frequented by powerful families. Poker games are held there and the tips are great-so why not? Until the night things go south in a hurry. Follow her escape and see what happens when she doesn't know where to turn or who to trust.

Top: Andrew is dealing with the pain of losing 3 family members in a very short time by indulging in (and enjoying) impact play. His big desire is to gain entrance to some of the higher end clubs. As a newbie, he is hoping to find better tops at those clubs. He is told that private parties are the way to accomplish that, What happens when he attends his first private party? Will his goals be met or will he walk away demoralized and disillusioned? Great read about the dangers that newbies to the lifestyle can face.

Dangerous Professions: Robert runs a port star talent agency. But he owes Randy a lot of money. Kayla is one of Robert's stars but she is a bit of a diva. Randy decides to take things into his own hands to recover his money and make a success of the business--in a very unique manner. Fun read!

Eternal Obsessions: Sofia and Mateo have a hot steamy relationship. Started under less than ideal circumstances--questionable ones even-they now have developed into so much more. Great read!

Attitude Adjustment: As a wife and mom, Julianna, married to BDSM club owner Mika, has lost her submissive ways. It is hard to balance being mom to the kids and then be submissive to your husband. Mika has recognized this and it comes to a head after there is an altercation between another dom at the club and Julianna. Can Mika help her find her way back to her submissive happy place? To do so, how extreme will ne need to go? Great read--especially since everyone needs an attitude adjustment now and then.

And She is Lust: Loved this! Chere is married to her Master, Price. She gains permission to go out with her best gay friend to celebrate his upcoming nuptials and proceeds to break oh so many rules. Using poetry, Price lets Chere know how he is feeling (as he has throughout their relationship) and his views of her current behavior. How far will he have to go to get through to her, especially to make her see the dangers that are very real but that she does not see? Great last book in the anthology!

What I love about an anthology is that you get a shorter story and it usually is 1) a revisit of familiar characters by an author you know, 2) new characters for a possible new series or 2) a new to you author that makes you want to go buy their entire backlist. Thankfully we get all of these in this book.

Taste of Sin by Renee Rose & Alta Hensley
I'm so happy these authors are revisiting this world of mafia bad boys and hot, steamy smexy good times. This story is about Taylor and Marco, and is a good short story of a man who thought he was a playboy until he met the woman he wanted to protect and keep forever. Yum!

Gemma's Release by Becca Jameson
This was a little follow up story to Marigold, where we get to see Gemma and Damon revisit Roses and Thorns. These two burn up the sheets as they discover Gemma's love for impact play. I will say this story was much more satisfying having read the full length novel first.

Protected by Him by Measha Stone
AS I started to read this book it seemed vaguely familiar. But of course, it's set in the world of Mafia Brides stories. Aleksandra was a bit annoying to me, always trying to get away from Dmitri. Thankfully he had a great way with a spanking to see the error of her ways.

The Ceremony by Natasha Knight & A Zavarelli
Raven and Emmanuel are like star-crossed lovers, never knowing if they'll find happiness. In the meantime they take advantage of the time spent together. Yes, this was short, but it's a prequel to the full length story, The Sacrifice Duet.

Punishing His War Bride by Sue Lyndon
Coming home after subduing the rebels Merokk is more than willing to take his war bride Fiona to hand for her misdeeds while he was gone. This is a super hot follow up story to Surrender.

Top by Cole Denton
This was a new to me author, but I surprisingly enjoyed this story that didn't have any $exual interaction between the two main characters. James rescues Andrew from a private play party gone wrong (and we do have some dub-con scenes at the beginning). It looks as if this story is part of a larger series about club Oxygen. One I'll be checking out.

Dangerous Professions by Livia Grant
Surprisingly, although I love this author, I found this book only so-so. I really like this author's character developments in her other stories, so because this was just a short story I didn't get that from these two characters.

Eternal Obsessions by Julia Sykes
This story of Sophia and Mateo is a follow up story to their book Pretty Hostage. I love these glimpse back into the lives of characters we know and love. I would say reading the full length novel would give this story even better enjoyment.

Attitude Adjustment by Jenna Jacobs
This is another new to me author. These two characters are in an established M/s relationship and as we all know, sometimes things get out of whack and need a reset. I loved how Mika re-established his authority with a loving, yet dominant manner. The best thing is this author is offering their book, Awaken Me for fr33.

And She is Lust by Annabel Joseph
I'm sorry to say this book finished with a story I didn't much like. I am not familiar with this author's works, but I just could not get into this story at all. It was a follow up to a series she had written, so perhaps if I'd read that first I might have understood the characters better.

BITE OF PAIN - I received an ARC of this anthology. Thank you! I never give away anything regarding the story in my reviews. Just some quick notes about the characters and how I felt about their story. Below are reviews of all 10 novellas. I would definitely recommend this anthology.

1. TASTE OF SIN - RENEE ROSE & ALTA HENSLEY
TAYLOR & MARCO

Seriously sexy Novella! I loved everything about this steamy short glimpse into Taylor and Marco's story.

2. GEMMA'S RELEASE - BECCA JAMESON
GEMMA & DAMON

This is a well-written and paced Novella. Gemma and Damon are the perfect couple. This story shows you a small part of their BDSM relationship. One which Damon needs to be built on communication and trust for Gemma's sake.

3. PROTECTED BY HIM - MEASHA STONE
ALEKSANDRA & DMITRI

Good read! Aleksandra and Dmitri's story has suspense with some smoldering spicy scenes. It's sexy! A second chance for both the protective Dmitri and the sassy Aleksandra.

4. THE CEREMONY - NATASHA KNIGHT & A. ZAVARELLI
RAVEN & EMMANUEL

This storyline snuck up on me slowly but as it did it grabbed me in and kept me page-turning. Raven & Emmanuel's prequel is mysterious. Will Emmanuel give in to his attraction to Raven? I'm ready for more!

5. PUNISHING HIS WAR BRIDE - SUE LYNDON
FIONA & MEROKK

Fantasy is a genre I haven't read much. I was captivated by Fiona and Merokk's story and will be grabbing their story from the beginning. Filled with spicey discipline, Fiona and Merokk's story contains understanding and a great desire for one another.

6. TOP - COLE DENTON
ANDREW & JAMES

Man oh man! I loved reading about the beginning of Andrew's life at Club Oxygen. But, it was not long enough! I love these two characters. James is so caring. The perfect mentor for Andrew. Cole always includes depth and emotion in his stories and TOP is no different. He creates characters that are going to stick with you LONG after you've read their story. Brilliantly written. An outstanding home run!

7. DANGEROUS PROFESSIONS - LIVIA GRANT
RANDY & KAYLA

Intense! From the first page, Kayla and Randy's story of dominance will keep you on the edge of your seat. The push and pull in this story was just right.

8. ETERNAL OBSESSIONS - JULIA SYKES
SOFIA & MATEO

This was my first time reading Julia Sykes. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Sofia and Mateo's story. It had some suspense and sizzling romance. Mateo is the possessive protector and Sofia is his. Their relationship is HOT!

9. ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT - JENNA JACOB
MIKA & JULIANNA

Riveting! Mika and Julianna's unstoppable chemistry burned up the pages in this steamy well-written story. Their heat is undeniable. The angst and push and pull of their story were just right. There was never a dull moment in their story.

10. AND SHE IS LUST - ANNABEL JOSEPH
CHERE & PRICE

Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about this novella. It started out well. I liked the heat between Chere and Price. The 2nd half was full of angst and then, the twist got me. I'm not sure how I feel about what happened. It's not the author's fault. Perhaps if I go and read the beginning books about Chere and Price's relationship I'd have a better understanding.

Bite of Pain Anthology is a great way to read some of your favorite authors and at the same time a way to meet some new to you authors. I always say you can't go wrong with an anthology. Unfortunately, they are typically only released for a short time frame so you need to have your one-click finger ready. There is always a huge variety of stories to choose from and I’m sure you will find something that is right up your alley. Many will leave you wanting more!

Taste of Sin - Alta Hensley & Renee Rose
When Taylor makes a mistake, Marco has a deal for her to pay for her mistake. She will spend the night at Sin with him as his submissive. But will one night be enough?

Gemma’s Release - Becca Jameson
Thirty days after her rescue, Damon is helping her heal from her ordeal by making a trip to Roses and Thorns. This is a great story and I want to see more of them.

Protected by Him - Measha Stone
Aleksandra thinks she is in danger and takes off. Dmitri takes two years to track her down and is going to make her pay for her disobedience. This short wasn’t enough, I need to check out the rest of this series.

The Ceremony - Natasha Knight & A. Zavarelli
Eek, I’ve read the other stories by this writing duet. There is a long-standing feud between these two families and as a result Raven and Emmanuel are forbidden from being together. This is a great short to characters I’ve been wondering about since reading The Tithing and The Penitent.

Punishing His War Bride - Sue Lyndon
Sci-fi – human/alien romance. Fiona & Merokk are married, but when he goes off to battle, she does something that defies his orders. She is punished in the hottest of ways.

Top - Cole Denton
Andrew is searching for relief and finds it at a private play party. Turns out the party isn’t well run, but lucky for Andrew, James is able to come to his rescue. I’ve not read this series yet, but this glimpse is intriguing.

Dangerous Professions - Livia Grant
Retired MMA champion, Randy Ortiz, is looking for a challenge. He decides to take a more controlling role in his cousin’s talent agency. Kayla is in need of correction for her transgressions. Randy is ready to dish out the training she needs.

Eternal Obsession - Julia Sykes
I’m familiar with Mateo and Sofia so it was great to see them. A rival attempts to force the hand of the head of a cartel by kidnapping two women who belong to Mateo and his bodyguard. There is no way the alpha will let them off without paying the ultimate price.

Attitude Adjustment - Jenna Jacob
When Julianna loses her temper, Mika realizes that his sweet wife and slave needs help dealing with past trauma. Once they are safe at home, he takes the time to bring her back inline.

And She Is Lust - Annabel Joseph
When Chere doesn’t keep a promise to her husband, he is sure to teach her a lesson about being careless with her safety that she will never forget.

In summary, there was a good variety of short stories. Yes, they are teases to make you want to read more from these authors to get the complete stories of many of these characters. I know my TBR always gets quite a few more titles after reading an anthology for sure!

-Becca Jameson - Gemma's Release – I feel for Gemma aka Marigold who was taken by Master J while she dreamed that Damon, the only person who might realize she was still alive and lusted after would rescue her. When her long training has her auctioned, will it be worth living with her new owner? You have to read to find out!
- Measha Stone ~ Protected by Him - I feel for Aleksandra who witnessed a crime and is on the run from the mafia. Dimitri has always had a soft spot for Alexsandra and takes her in to his world to protect her from who she is running from. Can the two have a happily ever after?
-Natasha Knight & A. Zavarelli ~ The Ceremony - The Delacroix and Wildbloods families have a dark ritual that is anything but for the weak of heart between the chosen eldest and the female with the birthmark. Despite Raven and Emmanuel having nothing to do with the ceremony of the chosen, the magnetism between the two can’t be denied.
-Sue Lyndon ~ Punishing His War Bride - Fiona and Merokk were a forced match made from when Merokk’s race took over Earth that became a perfect match. When Merokk is called to a base, he leaves strict instructions for Fiona to remain behind and turns off outside communication to keep her in the dark. What happens when Fiona discovers the reason for his leaving?
-Cole Denton ~ Top – I fell for Andrew who is out of his element when he goes to a party hoping this will give him access to private clubs. When Andrew finds himself out of his comfort level, James inserts himself in to the situation. Will walking away be a blessing or a curse for Andrew?
-Livia Grant ~ Dangerous Professions – I love Randy stepping in to his cousin’s business that he invested in and takes over control of running the business and a whole lot more. Enter Kayla who learns the hard way about the added clause in her contract. Will Randy be able to improve Kayla’s work ethic? You have to read to find out.
-Julia Sykes ~ Eternal Obsession - Sofia and Mateo are the hottest couple and Mateo won’t let Sofia go far from his side. Yet at the party where Mateo is discussing business with the boss, Sofia and another boss’ wife head to the kitchen for dessert. Yet when the unthinkable happens, will Mateo keep Sofia safe? You have to read to find out!
-Jenna Jacob ~ Attitude Adjustment – There is trouble a brewing at the club when Julianna steps in to correct a misled member that was against the rules. After Mika takes care of the unruly member, his next step is to deal with Julianna in front of the members. Mika makes sure you can almost see the steam coming off of Julianna?
-Annabel Joseph - And She is Lust – You have to love Price who is an overprotective husband when Chere, his spouse doesn’t obey her instructions for the evening of her best friends stag party because she got a teensy bit drunk. Chere’s punishment will definitely make for a heated scene!

The Ceremony by Natasha Knight and A Zavarelli: The Wildbloods anf the Delacroix families have faced each other over the generations but when Raven and Emmanuel meet at the ceremony of the chosen…well let’s say the smouldering fire could threaten to ignite…
Punishing his War Bride by Sue Lyndon: Merokk is going into battle against the human rebels and puts a black out on all video devices in his home to keep his bride safe but Fiona manages to view the news of but lies about it earning her a punishment. I liked that this was more of a bonus story after reading Surrender than a teaser.
Top by Cole Denton: Andrew is at a loss on the devastating anniversary of his family’s death, to get through this time Andrew turns to sex clubs and impact play to get get the cathartic release he is looking for, but being naive and placed in possible danger at a private party, he meets James a Dom who wants to help Andrew find what is missing….definitely will look to reading more form this author.

Readers need to go into this anthology with the knowledge that they are either prequels for other finished published stories or epilogues or bonus scenes for other finished and published stories. The main goal for the anthology is to encourage readers to read the full published stories and I would say : mission complete because they were well written with a lot of spices.

" Taste of Sin " by Renee Rose & Alta Hensley: a hot read with good spanking scenes and easy to love characters. There's kink, humor and a good HEA.

" Gemma's Release" by Becca Jamison: if kidnapping & captivity is your genre, this is the one for you. I always like a tough ferocious hero that have a soft spot for his woman. This story did it well.

"Protected by Him " by Measha Stone: could be my favorite in the anthology. Known plot about a young woman that sees something that should not be seen. The hero handles it his own way. The result is a well recommended tale to read.

" The Ceremony " by Natasha Knight & A. Zavarelli : kind of paranormal with elements of Mafia where couples marry each other because of a curse that renders them sacrificed. It's an opening for a duet that is worth reading " The Sacrifice "

" Punishing his War Bride" by Sue Lyndon: this author tends to write quite dark and this is no difference. It's deliciously erotic and intriguing. A follow up from her book " Surrender" but there's no real need to read that one to enjoy this one.

" Top " by Cole Denton : A totally new author to me but the story is promising. It's worth noting that it is MM and well versed in BDSM.

" Dangerous Professions " by Livia Grant: Sassy and bratty Kayla found her match in the stern and no-nonsense dom Randy. There were some laughs and some heart-felt sorry for Kayla but she got what she deserved.

" Eternal Obsessions " by Julia Sykes : very well written with great characters and interesting plot. This story is made for an enjoyable read.

" Attitude Adjustment " by Jenna Jacob : Another new author to me. A thin storyline but heavy on the erotica part. The title is spot on for the content.

" And she is Lust " by Annabel Joseph: the author kept the story walking on a thin line between what's acceptable and what's a no no. For me, it was just right but it might not be for everyone but it's worth trying if you are open to possibilities in reading.

The great thing about anthologies is that you can get a taste of what an author is like without having to commit to a full story. This collection offers something for everyone - as long as you like a little pain with your pleasure. All of these stories are well written, most of them take the format of a epilogue, standalone scene from an authors existing series and although I haven't read all of the authors included, I had no problem reading, understanding and enjoying the stories.

A Taste of Sin - perfect entry for the anthology. Wonderful characters and a great story.

Gemma's Release by Becca Jameson - this is a story that follows on from the authors' book 'Marigold', providing an extra glimpse into Gemma and Damon. I really enjoyed this story and while I felt that Marigold wrapped up too quickly, this provides me that nice sense of completeness.

Protected by Him by Measha Stone - this story surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. Great chemistry between these characters.

The Ceremony by Natasha Knight & Ashleigh Zavarelli - this paranormal romance made for an interesting story, although not a style that I normally read.

Punishing His War Bride by Sue Lyndon - a sci-fi entry that, although not my favourite sub-genre was an excellent read and managed to get wonderful emotion in this short story.

Top by Cole Denton - this Mm story was quite difficult to read at times as it covers some traumatic and absolutely non-con situations. A very compelling read.

Dangerous Professions by Livia Grant - barely consensual non-con abounds in this story and although I love this author the wafer-thin legality of the situations made this an uncomfortable read for me.

Eternal Obsessions by Julia Sykes - really enjoyed this story and the obvious love between Mateo and Sofia.

Attitude Adjustment by Jenna Jacob - sometimes both people in a relationship need an attitude adjustment and this story has both Mika and Julianna rediscovering their roles.

She is Lust by Annabel Joseph - there are aspects of this story that I loved, and aspects that I didn't . This story demonstrates that love and care isn't just always hugs and puppies, it can also be teaching an uncomfortable truth in a painful way.

This was a very interesting story that I had no clue I needed! Livia Grant has a way with words and Randy and Kayla's story was short, hot and I loved it!

When the two women that are Mateo's and his bodyguards are kidnapped by enemies, you know all hell is gonna break lose.

Attitude Adjustments by Jenna Jacob
This story was awesome. Julianna looses control at Club Genesis and her Master/husband knows she hasn't gotten over an incident from the past. It's time to get that monkey off their backs once and for all.

And She is Lust by Annabel Joseph
When Chere forgets to keep a promise to her husband, Prince, he is going to make sure she regrets it. I haven't read that many of Ms Joseph's stories but I may have to remedy that!

I was lucky to receive an ARC of this anthology which I'm extremely grateful for I discovered new authors that I will read more from in the future. There's something for everyone in this anthology there's BDSM, Cartel, Dominants,Fantasy,Mafia,Power Exchange, Witches etc. I'm going to give a brief review of the 10 novellas without any spoilers to ruin it for anyone else.
1. Taste Of Sin-Renee Rose and Alta Hensley-We meet Marco and Taylor and we get to catch up with Don Pachino,Armando and Hannah characters from Den Of Sins
2. Gemma's Release-Becca Jameson-This novella introduces us to Damon and Gemma who have a BDSM relationship after going through the worst kind of hell for 3yrs.
3. Protected By Him-Measha Stone-We get Dmitri and Aleksandra's steamy and exciting second chance romance full of danger and heat.
4. The Ceremony-Natasha Knight and A.Zavarelli- This prequel really grabbed my attention Emmanuel and Raven's story is full of mystery and forbidden attraction.
5. Punishing His War Bride-Sue Lyndon-Merokk and Fiona's story is full of HOT and steamy discipline as well as their tremendous desire for each other.
6. Top-Cole Denton-Andrew had such a tragic back story that I really felt for him and I could understand why he searched for pain to make him feel but he was going about it wrong thank God he met James when he did. James just so happens to own the club that he's wanted to get into.
7. Dangerous Professions-Livia Grant-Randy and Kayla's raw and intense story of domination and discipline this story is HOT!
8. Eternal Obsessions-Julia Sykes-Mateo and Sofia's sizzling dominant BDSM relationship shows you the power exchange between the dominant and his woman.
9. Attitude Adjustment-Jenna Jacob-Mika and Julianna's story shows us a dominant and his slave needing reminding of who's in charge in their relationship.
10. And She Is Lust-Annabel Joseph-Shows us Price and Chere's hard-core kink relationship and the struggle of balancing their kink with marriage.
I would recommend reading this anthology it opens the door to some AMAZING stories that I wouldn't have known about if I hadn't read this.

Since this has lots of stories I'm just going to give a brief synopsis of them all. Some of these punishments had me going Yikes...but plenty of people will Yum my Yikes so it's all good lol

I really liked Taylor and felt like she was a relatable character. Marco was alpha and hot. I'm definitely going to have to look up the rest of these books.

Gemma spent 3 years as a slave before Damon saved her. He introduces her to the bdsm life where she can heal.

This novella reminded me that I read Taken but never finished it and I need to. The Wildblood's and Delacroix's are very interesting characters.

Fiona and Merokk are married. Merokk is a Kall alien and Fiona is human. Merokk has to go into battle which makes him feral when he returns to his wife. Especially since she broke the rules and needed to be punished.

Stuart...I had an immediate hatred for so I thought that meant I knew him from a prior book. But nope and I don't ever want to see him again 😁
