Yazmine Wolfe is a successful fashion designer in Atlanta, Georgia. After winning a season on the reality show, Made for Fashion Week and becoming the go-to fashion designer in Hotlanta, Yaz didn't think anything or anyone could get in her way. If they dared, then there would be hell to pay.
Enjoying one of her best days, Yazmine didn't forecast a thunderous storm. But a good day becomes the fodder for Murphy's Law. Thrown off her game by losing a coveted client and a promising expansion, the Wolfe is not as cocky as her usual self.
Just in time for Little Red to enter the stage and turn Yaz's life upside down. With a proposition to make Yaz her submissive, and a defiant Yaz kicking all the way to the sex dungeon, these two feisty femmes are in for a ride of their lives, and so are you!
I wonder if the previous reviewers read the same book I did.
Short for those who don’t want to read the review: this book was a poor representation of BDSM. Romanticized abuse, crossed sexual boundaries, and was okay in technical writing.
Spoliers***
The dialogue specifically from Phil was some of the cringiest I’ve ever read. Who talks like that!? The amount of times I read “gurrrlll” made me want to hurl. I don’t know if the writer is black or not but judging by the dialogue it’s giving middle aged white person trying to give young hip and black and failed miserably! But I was still rocking!!! That was until Soraya comes back to punish Yazmine…
You find out after the fact that there is a safe word however they didn’t discuss boundaries or concerns with sharing! That scene of Yasmine’s first “punishment” was straight up sexual assault??? Not to mention how EXTREME of a punishment it was for what she did? 😳 Anyone who knows anything about BDSM knows that the punishment should match the offense but it SOOOO didn’t!
Soraya is a terrible dom 😭 for someone who was trying so hard to stand on business she fails constantly. It truly wasn’t giving dom at all it was giving switch at most. That scene with Jordan after giving her an EDIBLE!!! Once again borders on sexual assault? Idk how the author thought that was okay at all! Under the influence, no heads up, just letting this woman touch her without her consent?!!! Ewwwwwwww 🤢 I would have never spoken to her ever again. The fact that she slept with her afterward? They moved on from that wayyyyyy too quickly! That shit was creepy, sexually abusive, and disgusting. For that scene alone I give this a 1/5. A Dom is supposed to protect and care for their sub. Not put them in physically, emotionally, and mentally unsafe positions.
There are so mannnyyyy plot holes. Like Yazmine never tells Soraya about Jordan to the readers knowledge but when Yaz gets a call from her, Soraya is immediately jealous and knows their history? Howwww? Same thing with the safe word like why wasn’t the reader aware of that conversation!? Then the random info that Soraya herself has a dom??? Where did that come from? This wasn’t indicated AT ALL previously.
The spicy scenes were mid. Short, undescriptive, lacked depth, passion, and connection. Just *exaggerated sigh*
The reviews gave me high hopes. The writing squashed them. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone. Those truly into BDSM would be upset at its portrayal of the community. It’s not categorized as a Dark Romance so I wouldn’t recommend it to those who enjoy dark romance. Just egh.
Interesting story with little unexpected twists throughout to keep you engaged and reading! Yasmine changed and grew so much enhancing her character and creativity. We have a not meet cute although we feel the tension right away! That tension grows and develops into a lovely hea.
So only thing I found not quite meeting expectations was the bdsm element. Little Red, or Soraya, was a Dom who for years really stuck to a discipline aspect only with subs. A trial arrangement is made with Yasmine starting with following instructions. Although Soraya is called the Dom, she doesn’t ever really act like one 🤷🏻♀️. Punishment is being touched by multiple others but not discussed ahead of time and it turns out there’s hard no’s where safe words are used often. Another time someone is getting drugged and coerced which was like what and never discussed. Like she was drugged! Also it seemed that bdsm only meant master/slave. IMO Yasmine seemed more the Domme than Soraya ever did. Although really it didn’t feel like D/s relationship or experience.
Definitely come for the characters, the age gap, the steam and the romance!! We also got a peek of the characters from the previous book and there’s going to be another coming soon!!
Their love story was cute, however I just didn’t like the writing style at all and also there were two specific things that Soraya did to Jazmine that left me shocked (*cough pretty much sexual assault, as there was no consent COUGH*) and I almost DNF’d the book 🫢😭 there were also other things that didn’t actually represent very well bdsm, such as Soraya not being a very good dom at all and actually felt more like a switch at times🤷♀️ Also, if I hear one more time someone say gurl I SWEAR I’m gonna scream, like the amount of times it was said was CRAZY 😭😭
Yazmine is always in control, and is the very definition of a boss babe. When one bad day gets the very best of her, however, she's brought into the world of BDSM and meets her potential dom, Soraya. Yaz learns what it's like to be a sub and let go of the control, and both women learn how to completely trust each other when they each face battles from their past and present.
This book. The first thing I'll note is how much I appreciate it. This is what I wish I had read as an intro to kink, as this was a much better representation of it compared to my first exposure (iykyk). The plot and character development were also absolutely beautiful to witness. I loved watching these two strong women find love and comfort in each other, as well as watching them overcome huge personal obstacles. I only wish more punishment had been bestowed on Crawford - he deserved to be drug through the mud. I giggled, I cried, I smiled, I gasped, all the emotions, I felt them. Love love love this book.
This was a great book! I enjoyed the dynamics between the two MCs. I really enjoyed the powerplay and how the younger of the two (Soraya) was the Dom for a change and loved how Yazmine; the big strong Wolfe, shows her softer side due to the submissive side that Soraya brought out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the storyline, and can't wait to read more from S.L. Brown.
Don't miss out, this book will be released on September 16th 🗓

Our journey often presents us with opportunities of change. Courage, trust and communication are tools to ensure we grow into the best version of ourselves, even if that path is surrounded by traumatic experiences. Love and kindness ultimately becomes the healing component towards a HEA.
I didn't felt the connection between the MC's, nor did I got any resemblance of D/S vibe. Some events are non-consensual, at one point I almost left the book behind. At the end some new story lines are introduced, relationship dynamics are pressed in and a resolution is produced in a rushed way.
