If you're looking for a practical, research based, and extremely informative book regarding all the aspect of Effective Teamwork then Michael West's book does just that. It takes you through the logic behind teams, creating them, leading them, and all the way to how they can effectively function within an organization. It is not a bible but a guidebook and a starting point for anyone struggling to manage teams, creating teams, or just looking to improve a team, it has knowledge for every stage of a team. It includes interactive surveys as well so it doesn't feel just like a textbook yelling at you. Overall I found the book extremely informative. I've had this experience with a lot of non-fiction informative books I've read that the book doesn't read like a textbook but like a novel, and I think that highlights effective writing. The book does not mislead claiming to be a fix all for problems it delivers just as it should as a book that gives accurate insight into teams with research backed insights. It is broken into easy to read sections, is a great resource to anyone looking to understand business in a better way, and it can be referenced back to easily with its chapter format (including reviews). I think this book is well deserving of five stars.
I found this to be a crisp, well-written, and practical guide to understanding team-building and leadership. Case studies, revision points, lots of supporting references and suggestions for further reading.
