“Sometimes the only thing that keeps us from living is ourselves.”Ethne has long spent her life trying to avoid people and the heartache of loss, but when a mysterious note shows up on her doorstep her curiosity forces her out of hiding. Following the instructions of a stranger, Ethne is sent on an exciting adventure where she unlocks not only the secret identity of the notes’ sender but eventually the key to her own heart. But life is never easy with clear-cut answers or perfect fairy tale endings and her journey of eye-opening self-discovery ultimately will leave her with a very difficult decision to make. Books about love triangles aren’t new, but this women’s fiction with twists and turns will take you on an inspirational adventure of love that may even inspire you to explore new mysteries in your own world.
One of the best things about reading is being able to have experiences that may never actually present themselves in reality. Would I ever jump on a plane to a foreign country because some mysterious stranger leaves me a ticket? Not in a million years! But when Ethne did exactly that I was very excited to be going on the adventure with her! Admittedly part of me kept waiting for the boogey man to jump out in Belize and throw a bag over her head to kidnap her and sell her into slavery... perhaps I've watched a few too many episodes of CSI to be completely comfortable with that premise. Alas my fears were unwarranted and the mysterious trip takes a welcome romantic turn. This book is definitely not predictable. I thought I knew who her mysterious benefactor would be. I was wrong. I thought I knew who the main love interest would be. I was wrong. I was wholly prepared for some grand adventure in Belize after the rather fantastical scenario that landed her there. However it turned out this novel is primarily an introspective journey about Ethne dealing with both her medical and emotional issues. The pace of the story was a bit slow for my tastes with a lot of time spent elaborating on daily routines. The author does a wonderful job a dropping little bread crumbs of information about the main characters past rather than an info dump at the beginning which I definitely appreciated. The characters were very relatable and real. The descriptions of Belize made me want to visit someday. The premise is unique and not at all your typical romance.
The love story of a woman who has to make a difficult choice with love...surprisingly gripping, the plot constantly surprising, with a less than typical ending. Good read!
The Light of the Blue Pearl begins as a story about learning to live without fear. When Ethne receives the first mysterious note that will take her on an adventure she could never have imagined would happen to her, her life is changed forever. You are quickly drawn into the main character and the mystery of her past as she follows the instructions of a stranger. But unlike your typical romance story, this one has a twist that will leave the reader wondering which road she will take. This is a mystery romance that will instantly grab you and keep you guessing until the very end.
The Light of the Blue Pearl was a great read! Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a little mystery, a little romance and an overall great story.

When Ethne decides to blindly follow instructions from an unknown person, it could lead anywhere. The plot is definitely not predictable, and there are enough twist and turns to keep the reader turning the pages, wondering what’s going to happen next.
Ethne’s inner doubts and fears are believable, and one can’t help but feel for her. Both guys that she gets involved with are incredibly understanding, to the point of becoming unbelievable.
All in all not a bad read, although I feel that the book length can be halved without problem.
