I always hoped that I would never be in this position again. Stuck, abused, taunted...
AT THE MERCY OF HIS SICK MIND, AND EVEN SICKER GAMES.
However, this time I am not alone. I have company in this hell. I also have four men willing to do anything to get me back.
And they do. The six of us escape to recover from injuries and trauma. We plot, we learn, and we love. Our relationships become stronger, and I learn that my heart just may be open enough for one more special person.
With the help of our allies, we begin eliminating our threats one by one. Eventually, Zeke will be the only one left to fall.
HOW MUCH DOES A STALKER ENJOY BEING THE STALKED?
My tormentor is about to find out just what happens when you try to play games with my men.
THEY END THEM.
This book concludes the Snakes & Lovers duet and will end in a HEA. It is Why Choose, meaning that our leading lady does not need to choose between her love interests.
Please be aware that it contains content including, or references relating to, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, drug use and abuse, violence, kidnapping, and human trafficking. It also contains explicit sexual scenes and is not recommended for persons under 18 years.
There were some parts of this that the pacing was a bit off and sometimes the dialogue odd, I don't think it was a language barrier or anything. The conversations just felt a bit forced sometimes or over explained.
I wasn't sure if I liked Leo to be honest. He felt like weak link compared to everyone else but then I loved how he had a special connection to Aria that the other guys didn't quite have. Austin was a bit wishy washy, one minute he's the quiet twin, the nerdy professor and then he's barking out orders to everyone. Raff was my favorite, his humor was everything and I love how obsessed he was. Reid was kind of the typical bad boy of the harem, he and Aria started this whirlwind romance that gathered everyone but didn't seem to spend a lot of time together. Max, while he was a nice addition and I loved seeing his interactions, the romance of the relationship didn't seem incredibly solid. He gave off more best friend vibes. Aria as a whole, was an alright character. She was timid but hid it with false confidence in the beginning but in the end, I liked her a lot more than I did at the start.
I liked the twist and turns, the "small world" vibes this gave off when dots started to connect. The villains were great as well. Definitely would do a reread in the future.
I loved book one and have been waiting since I read it to read book 2!
The plot in this book had me hooked! There were a couple of points that I think were rushed over very quickly but I still enjoyed the book!
I wasn’t sure on how I feel about Max and his edition to the group, don’t get me wrong I liked his character but he kind of felt a little forced into the relationship, like he was just added to make the why choose a bit bigger. But towards the end I did enjoy his character more!
K L Coburn again did a great job of writing trauma and trauma responses.
The spicy scenes in this were great! I especially loved the group scene at the end!
There were some twists that completely shocked me and I did not see coming!
I loved all the guys but I do think that Raff and Reid have to be my favourites 😍😍😍
Also what happen with the rose at the end of the book was poetic as fuck!
Do check the trigger warnings before reading, this book covers some very dark and heavy themes!
Overall I really enjoyed this series! I definitely recommend it!
I wanted to love this series but I managed to get distracted by another story because this one barely held my attention... I wish I had better news... meh.
This was such an amazing and heartbreakingly great duet. I adored all the characters. I wasn’t sure about Matt because he was introduced late, but I liked him. Fighting hard for their happily ever after everyone got what they deserved. I will miss these characters especially raff. He was totally my favorite.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Books and Bitches ARC team and to the talented K.L. Coburn for providing the opportunity to dive into the gripping world of "Snakes and Lovers Part 2." This independently published gem, released on August 25, 2023, is a rollercoaster of a read, filled with suspense, humor, and an intriguing plot.
In this intense continuation of the story, we find the protagonist trapped once again in the clutches of a tormentor—a place she hoped never to return to. She's ensnared, abused, and subjected to a mind warped by sinister games. However, this time she's not alone, and four determined men are willing to go to any lengths to rescue her.
The journey of escape, recovery, and plotting unfolds as the six of them band together to eliminate threats and build stronger relationships. Through the hardships, the protagonist discovers that her heart may be open to one more special person.
K.L. Coburn weaves a complex tale that combines elements of romance and thriller in the "Why Choose" genre. The narrative is addictive, with moments of humor and Aussie-isms that add a unique and engaging touch. While the story offers a thrilling and suspenseful experience, there is an underlying thread of humor that breaks the tension in just the right places.
As you've pointed out, not having read Part 1 might lead to some gaps in understanding, and the story may appear rushed at times. Reading the first part beforehand is advisable to gain a deeper grasp of the characters and their relationships.
The author does an excellent job handling trigger warnings, as the book contains content related to abuse, violence, and other sensitive topics. These elements are portrayed with care and sensitivity, making the story accessible to readers while acknowledging its challenging themes.
In conclusion, "Snakes and Lovers Part 2" is an addictive and intense thriller with a touch of humor and romance. It's a compelling read that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and it's no wonder you found it difficult to put down. While it's advisable to read Part 1 for a more complete experience, this book is a thrilling journey that showcases K.L. Coburn's storytelling skills. If you appreciate a blend of suspense, humor, and romance in a "Why Choose" genre, this book is a great choice.
This duet is now one of my all time FAVORITE books. Despite it being on kindle unlimited I ended up purchasing the digital copy for both once I finished because I do plan on reading it again in the future and like having it in my library.
The plot is super interesting. I LOVE a good professor romance and this one was beautifully done. I wish there had been a little more drama with the female professor that had a crush on Leo but we can't have it all. The mmcs are yummy, possessive, protective, understanding, patient, and just EVERYTHING.
The fmc is strong considering everything she has been through. But her trauma is also believable with her reactions to certain things. I love that she is actually willing to let the mmcs look out for her and protect her from the dangers in her life instead of ignoring not only the dangers, but the men as well. She needs them, and she is okay with that. We love a reasonable fmc.
When Aria was younger she was sent to live with her Aunt and cousin, Zeke. While living their Zeke took pleasure in torturing Aria physically and mentally. When Zeke ended up in jail for getting involved with a gang, it was a godsend. He is meant to have a few years left. Giving Aria enough time to finish her degree and move away from Sydney. Unfortunately, somehow Zeke manages to get out early. Luckily, Aria has caught the attention of two of her professors, and a man she met in a bar a few weeks before school started up again. Reid, the bad boy from the bar who happens to be the twin to Austin Elliot Aria's new English professor, Leo Aria's psychology professor, and Raff the man tasked with keeping an eye on Aria once the other men find out about her stalker. Aria quickly becomes close with the four men who are determined to protect her, but her stalker is still out there and eventually he will be finished with just messing with her mentally and he will end up taking it further. Not to mention that being involved with these men may add to the danger in Aria's life.
A pretty good conclusion to Aria's traumatic past!
The end of book #1 leaves us on a bit of a cliffhanger (**SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT**: Zeke gets a hold of her), and book #2 just jumps us right back in again!
At some point, she's able to get back with her men again. I won't give any spoilers to the book, but what I WILL say is this: This is definitely not a really dark, v!olent book. There's MENTIONS of things that happened in the past, and there's some close calls to things in the book, but if you're not really in the mood for a dark book, you're still pretty much safe with this duet. It's on the lighter side of the dark side, if you will.
I enjoy the epilogue at the end of the book. Nothing crazy, just a basic "where are they in 6 months / 2 years?" type of thing.
Overall - I enjoyed this duet. You immediately have guys who care for the main female character, no bullying, no drama (though there's a LITTLE bit to keep things interesting, but nothing comes between Aria and her men!), and enough fun and laughter to keep things light.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Unfortunately at this point in time I have to rate this book 3 stars as that is how I am feeling. BUT I can honestly say that is through no fault of the book, or the author at all. I think this rating can be attributed to a couple of things:
🤦🏻♀️ I am in a slump - and I know what you’re thinking, why accept an arc if you are in a slump? You know how sometimes you don’t know you’re in a slump until you know you’re in a slump? That is exactly what happened here.
🤦🏻♀️ my memory is worse than a holey sieve.
🤦🏻♀️ for whatever reason, I can not even focus on tying a shoelace at the moment, so I was very easily distracted.
What I would like to say however is that while I could not initially remember the first book in great detail, I instantly remembered that I loved it. That in and of itself is why I would like to come back to this book in the future to give it the chance it deserves.
This was full of laughs, possessiveness, laughs, danger drama angst but with all a HEA.
I really enjoyed this story. Loved Aria. And hated what she hated to go through but loved how strong she was. The author portrayed her trauma really well. I really enjoyed her guys. Even the addition to Max. I have to say tho Raff really annoyed me. Don't get me wrong I love the protectiveness the love he had for her but when he opened his mouth it was annoying. I loved Austin Leo as the teacher and Max and Reid as well. They all loved and cherished Aria and fought for her and that's what was important. They helped her erase the monster and help her heal. I love these kinds of RH where they are all excepting right away or atleast very quickly by realizing its what everyone can give her to make her the happiest.
I adored the first installment of this duet and was eagerly awaiting this installment and I was not disappointed!! This was so well written, with no mistakes and really interesting and three dimensional characters, the addition of Max was surprising but very much welcomed. I'm really glad that the whole kidnapping cliffhanger from the first book was wrapped up pretty quickly (within about the first 50 pages for those of you like me who like to know this stuff) and wasn't drawn out because I hate those types of tropes. I loved their little "holiday" and getting to know each other. The relationships felt so organic and natural. The ending was well executed and perfect without feeling either too rushed or too contrived and I loved the epilogue.
❗️This review may or may not contain spoilers. Proceed at your own risk!❗️ ❗️This is a dark romance, so be mindful of your triggers before beginning!❗️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I enjoyed reading this book & would recommend. 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ - Mild Spice. More plot than spice. This is the second book in a duet series, so be sure to read book #1 first. While this is a dark romance, I would consider it be more mild compared to some others. While it is lighter, there is still some content that could be triggering. I did enjoy Aria’s story but I wouldn’t consider it to be the best RH I’ve read. I wasn’t expecting another addition to the harem but I really liked that direction. Overall, I did enjoy this book & would recommend it if you’re looking for a lighter RH.
A Great Ending to a Slightly Dark but Hilarious Journey
Aria’s story was heartbreaking before this book. Watching her back in Zeke’s clutches at the beginning of part two was distressing, but the overall feel of the book was still more lighthearted and focused on her recovery.
The humor in this part of the book was top notch and also really helped to lessen the dark feel of what Aria experienced at the start.
I love the men in her story. They’re all different but learn to work well together. They are devoted to keeping her safe and making her happy. It was swoon worthy how they treated her!
Although I received an early copy of this, it was only a day or two before the book was released and I was glad I could read it through KU. I read the first book in the duet yesterday, and you do need to read it before this episode.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. I thought the story was strong, but also wondered if some buts were brushed over too quickly. I felt the emotions of the characters were portrayed in a very one dimensional way and in some ways we were told rather than shown. A couple of grammatical errors slipped through, but they didn't detract from the story.
Oh, and the last thing done with the rose was just *chef's kiss* perfect!
I loved the humour was absolutely amazing Loved Reid’s and Leo’s little bond/bromance that they built I feel like Zeke’s character was really down played to how he was portrayed in the first book. I also wished Aria would have more one on one time with her other men like she did with Leo I also was hoping to get the reaction of Leo’s family about their relationship situation. I personally also believe that Max would have been better of as a friend
This story picked up from book one. A very well written story with a strong FMC and her five boyfriends that go thru very tough times. Through it all they come out stronger.
This was a cute story, filled with a traumatic past for the FMC. The author is from Australia so there were some words that needed looking up but it was super easy to infer. It was written like a YA novel. Very easy read. At times suspenseful.
This was my first time reading this author and I couldn't put this series down. I loved all the characters especially Raffe! I'd recommend this series to anyone.
This is the second book in the duet so you definitely need to read the first book before venturing into this book as if ended on a cliffhanger.
I have conflicting feelings about this book & series. I did enjoy it but I think I just didn't get emotionally attached to the characters like I do in most books.
I did love that it was set in Sydney Australia & the covers are just gorgeous!!!
