Wild #6

Wild Angel

Rate this book
Emotionally scarred by his many years on the battlefield, Mangan, son of the powerful Earl of Kirkcaldy, seeks forgiveness by embarking on a religious quest prior to beginning a life of cloistered celibacy. But his disturbing attraction to a "dark angel," an exquisite Gypsy woman who has just witnessed the murder of her parents, puts him on a far different path.

Obsessed by revenge and hiding a terrible secret, Ashleigh uses her skills for trickery and illusion—taught to her since childhood—to torment the people she believes are hiding her parents' killer. But her overwhelming attraction to a warrior monk who comes to her aid plays havoc with her emotions and upsets all her plans.

As Mangan and Ashleigh join together to uncover a diabolical plot to unseat the King of Scotland, they also struggle to understand the powerful forces at work between them—a passion that stirs their blood, a desire to heal that mends their souls, and a love that unites their hearts.

2.5 to be exact. But I like rounding things up.

The main characters are Mangan and Ashleigh.

Mangan O'Bannon is a 31 year old man who becomes a novice monk and devotes his life to prayer, after his life changing experience in war. He is seeking redemption for the sins he have committed during his time in war, serving for his King.

Ashleigh is a 16 year old young lady who is seeking retribution. Her parents were brutally murdered by soldiers of the Laird of the mountain in which they were travelling in. She wants revenge against all those people who were there.

This novel tells of how these two people overcome these negative experiences with their blossoming love and through the faith of God.

Personal Opinion
Um... she is 16 and he is 31. Immediately my mind was like WHAT THE HELL O.O. The time period in which this book was set in, it was perfectly normal for girls as young as 13 to get married and have kids. Though Sasha Lord didn't dwell at all on their age gap. I only noticed because for some reason I like knowing the age of my main characters.

I liked the fact Mangan became troubled due to Ashleigh. It was funny how she completely confused his mind. He was all set on becoming a monk and living a life of celibacy. Than she came crashing into
his life and brought back the emotions that he thought was forever locked.

It might not be fair that I'm reviewing this at all, since it is a genre I've never appreciated. This is a lusty adventure, but essentially a romance novel. I felt its formula went: 'story, story - reminder: they're very attracted to each other! - story, story - they have amazing sex! - story, story - reminder: their sex is always amazing! - story, story...' If that's your thing, you'll enjoy this book. The story woven into the formula was interesting enough for me to read to the end and it kept me awake on early morning transit.
