Offbeat places await travelers and locals alike in Michigan, such as the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum where young visitors can be wrapped in bubbles, and the Air Zoo of Kalamazoo, which is dedicated to preserving and restoring aircraft of World War II.
This was an OK book, better than nothing but really left a lot out. It didn't have any advice on cute little out of the way places. It also missed some of the things that would have been good to have in the book.
Non-fiction; Travelogue. I had read parts of this previously, but decided to read it cover-to-cover. An interesting listing of some unusual / places to visit in the state.
I'm actually in possession of the sixth edition of this book. The book is divided into geographic locations. Some of the "Unique Places" listed are well known and others are not. Maps are included and phone numbers are listed, plus there are lists of places to stay and eat within each region.
I checked this book out because I was planning a trip to the U.P. According to this man, I think there are only four things to see there - the Soo Locks, Taquamenon Falls, Marquette, and Seney. It was NOT a help in figuring out where we wanted to go.
Many of the Kazoo and GR attractions I love most are not in there. I feel like I would give different information to people wanting unique/fun experiences in MI.
A fun book to find quirky things to do. I like that it features the White Tail Deer Museum in Grass Lake! Could use a little more content per area though.
