Blown is a novella length erotic romance.

Veronica “Roni” Guard is an undercover cop trying to bust a drug ring. Unfortunately, she runs into her ex-boyfriend, Mateo Vargas, at an illegal street race in the California desert. He just happens to be a pretty big criminal himself. That’s why they split originally. No matter how much chemistry they have between them, a cop and a gangster are not a good match. Roni Convinces Mateo to help her with her case, his reluctance derailed by the one thing that always worked between them–sex. Yes, he’ll help her. But on one condition. In his world, she belongs to him, and him only.

Will Mateo’s possessiveness unravel Roni’s case? Or, worse, blow her cover? And if they get out of this alive, is there a future for them together?

That short story wasn't bad.. But i found many problems..
Too many plot holes, no sentiments from the heroine, too much sex..

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The hero was lovable and a bit possessive, and the idea was pretty nice..
The sex scenes were so steamy and wild.

For short stories the highest rating for me is 4 stars so 3 stars are fairly good..
All together was a nice little read..

Steamy and great writing always makes a good combination but just too short. I think this would have made a great full length novel and would have liked to know how the couple were before Roni went undercover.

Wow, "Blown" away by this hot, steamy, romantic story. Even though it is short, all the characters are really well drawn, the chemistry and heat between Roni and Mateo sizzles and the end is somewhat unexpected (and out of the blue) but really satisfied my HEA loving heart. I can compare this favorably to my other hot, short, steamy favorite read "A Night of Southern Comfort". Totally different story but both are now in my favorites.

Undercover drug squad Roni + ripped, gangster, wizard tongued Mateo = serious heat, rip roaring frolics and it's temporary.

Loved this gorgeous little enamored epic, this little tender tale, this little titillating text, this little fervid fiction, this little sexy short..LOVED it!

Your mind will be "Blown" once you've read this book by the incredible Braxton Cole! The story finds Veronica Guard, an undercover LAPD cop, in the midst of an investigation where she is recruited by Homeland Security to infiltrate, observe and gather intelligence to take down a group of thugs who were moving massive loads of meth and sending the funds to a known terrorist group. While in the very center of the source and with a close relationship to the very man who runs the ring, Roni runs into Mateo Vargas, an old acquaintance, an ex-lover whom, even now, made her insides sing with desire and her female parts all tingly. The only problem with the incredibly sexy man of her wet dreams is that he, too, is a hardened criminal whom is on the ATF watch list along with his older brother, Luis.

It's true Mateo is one of the bad guys, but when he was with Roni, he was the perfect gentleman and very possibly the world's greatest lover. When they got together in the past, their relationship was totally sexual and nothing else. But, still, Roni seemed to care for him.

Mateo seizes Roni from the clutches of Crimson, the ring leader, in hopes to save her from being killed. But, Roni won't budge and tell her boss her cover has been blown, so Mateo has no choice but to help her in order to protect her. So, he puts himself on the line and teams up with her, knowing if his brother learns Roni is a cop, she'll be killed and he along with her.

Sparks fly and feelings are rekindled only to complicate matters worse. She's a cop, he's a bad guy...they both know that eventually, their career choices would have them on opposite sides of the battle field. But neither one can walk away. With their feelings for each other growing by the minute, each asks the other to give up their job so they can be together.

So what will they do? Will Roni give up the job she's worked so hard for, the job she loves and is proud of? Or will Mateo tell his brother he wants out and try to wipe his slate clean just to be with her?

Braxton has really outdone herself with this fantastic story of twisted fate. Her writing style is outstanding and the thickening plot keeps you on the edge of your seat, not to mention the incredibly hot sex scenes. Very descriptive...you can actually see the characters and what they are doing to drive each other to the brink of insanity!

An easy Five Stars for "Blown". If I could give Ten Stars, I would!

Congratulations, Braxton, on a job well done!

From my blog.

**ARC provided by author for an honest review**

I don't usually read novellas, because I've been burned way too many times with short stories that I could have lived without. The blurb of this one, however, basically forced me to try it. And boy, did it come at the most perfect time ever. I had the hugest book hangover after finishing both Arouse and Allure from the Spiral of Bliss series, and Blown was able to subdue it quite a bit.

First of all, this book was HOT! Like the kind of hot that made me take off some of my clothes to cool down a bit (hey! I'm talking about my hoodie. I was COLD before!). The sex between Roni and Mateo was seriously intense. Sometimes it's just so perfect to just mindlessly focus on those steamy scenes....

But this time, those steamy scenes were entwined with some really suspenseful ones and am actual love story. And after all that hot sex, the love story really got to me. It was maybe kind of sudden, but the fact that they'd known each other for quite some time already made it completely believable. While I didn't really get to know the characters, I still managed to grow to love them and their story. And I think my heart really broke when she went to arrest the bad guy...

The only real complaint I have, and even that got somehow quieted along the way, was the length of this book. I would have loved it probably even more if it had been even longer. Nothing was really lacking, but I definitely wanted more. But I can only imagine how much more amazing it could have been if we'd actually had the opportunity to get to know both Roni and Mateo, and more about the last time they were together. Maybe even some more angst between the last two chapters... But I'm not complaining really...

Should you read it? When you're looking for a book that's short, hot, intense, but still a love story, then this is THE ONE! You can't go wrong with it.

I really didn't know what to expect from this one and to be honest I had a hard time with about the first 2 pages. I wasn't sure I was going to like it at all but it was an ARC and I was going to read it no matter what. I mean, Roni just seemed kind of like a slut and it was slow. I just had a hard time getting into it. Then I got to a good part and it just kept going. Roni & Mateo are well, no other way to put it other than just HOT! I could feel the heat coming off my kindle reading this sexy piece. It didn't take long before my mind was changed about it being boring. It had me on edge wondering what was going to happen and asking if Roni was crazy or just fearless. Mateo is the ultimate sexy bad boy. You can't get much worse than a gangster right? Like I said after the first couple of pages it was thrilling with all the bad guys and sweet with Mateo wanting to protect Roni when she thought she could protect herself. It was a great short read and if you like a little thrill with a hot sexy couple then this is what you are looking for.

FYI is 4.5 stars.

It could have one less sex scene and it would still be good. It was quick and it was good. Nothing heavy but neither light. It was interesting for me and if I can recall correctly a first too. Usually the hero is the cop and meets (for the first time in almost every case, in this case they meet again) the heroine who is the one that needs saving. In Blown no one needs saving, saving. Maybe Mateo because he is on the most wanted list but aside of that everyone is good. I liked the characters and the storyline even if there wasn't much of a it. Roni's undercover mission is not the main story. The main story is Roni and Mateo's relationship. She is a cop and he is from the other side of tracks. As Roni says the relationship would end awkwardly when she has to arrest him.

The stereotypes people have for gangsters and cops don't exist here. Mateo and Luis are close and they love each other. They are a family both literally and not. Mateo has weaknesses and Roni isn't the delicate flower one would expected her to be.

You should give it a try.

This is my first book penned by Braxton Cole and boy oh boy did she deliver! It is HOT in all the right places and the plot will definitely pull you in. I know some people knock novellas but this one was a solid story and left nothing lacking.

Roni Guard once dated and is still attracted to the one guy she can’t have. Mateo Vargas has a body that will make you want to lick your kindle screen. He is on the wrong side of the law and has a very tender spot in his heart for Roni.

A great quote:

“In the real world, he and I could never work. I kissed him just that much harder and pushed all thoughts of why this was wrong to the back of my mind and surrendered to all the reasons it felt right.”

If you are looking for a great, quick HOT read this is your book!

WOW! This is going to be a short and sweet review because this was a short and sweet read!

Let me give you the run-down: Roni is an undercover cop, undercover trying to bust a huge drug dealer/maker, Crimson, and while Roni is undercover she hooks up with Mateo. Now Mateo is tall, dark, sexy, hotter than Haiti’s, however, he is also a criminal yes, it’s like role playing. Roni is the badass cop and Mateo is the criminal and the criminal has been naughty so of course the copy has to take action and punish said criminal. Now that’s great and all in the role playing world but this is real life and that is actually the role they play.

Roni is funny, witty, beautiful, badass, and won’t take shit from another including Mateo, which I might add he finds that very attractive.

First, what kind of sadist invented four-inched spiky heels? Swear to God, if I ever meet the guy who invented them, I’m totally shoving one of these shoes up his tight, fashion, guru ass. – Blown

Now don’t let Mateo fool you, even though it doesn’t always walk the straight and narrow path deep down I think he is one big sexy fun teddy bear. He cares about what happens to Roni and wants more from her than just the mind blowing sex. He wants her for his future.

Roni is attracted to Mateo (seriously) and vice versa, not knowing what it is about the other person that pulls them towards each other, but they can’t seem to get enough. Mateo wants her out of the game where she is safe and that way they can be together. Flip the switch Roni want’s Mateo to turn over a new leaf and be a law abiding citizen so they can be together. Does it happen? Will Roni give up her dream of being a badass cop? Will Mateo finally decide that in the end Roni is worth walking the straight and narrow?

Oh Braxton you sure do write one crazy hot steamy, out of this world scene! I found myself clenching my thighs together on a couple of occasions and oh boy did I like it! My only downfall was that I wish Blown was a bit longer. Braxton has such a great writing technique that I would love to see a full length novel from her. She describes the characters so well you aren’t left guessing anything. She can get your on the edge of your seat wanting to know what is going to happen next or let you relax and enjoy the read.

Okay readers want a little insight on blown! Ready? Here we go.

“Flip you over and fuck you from behind. I want to pull your hair until you scream.”

As much as I wanted to suck him off, his idea was a pretty good one, too. Mateo grabbed me by the ankles and pulled me to the edge of the bed. He flipped me over like it was the easiest thing ever. And then he fucked me until I screamed. – Blown

Okay everyone so there you have it, my review on how I felt about Blown. Wish it was longer because I wanted more of Mateo and Roni. But being what it was a short and easy read I think Braxton Cole did a wonderful job with her storyline and great writing technique.

Wow! This "novella" felt like a full length novel! No details were spared in the creation of this story. Blown is the first book I've read by Braxton Cole and it was an awesome one to start with.

Roni Guard is working undercover to bust up an illegal drug ring when she runs into her old flame Mateo Vargas. He's immediately furious with her for risking her life and wants her to remove herself from the investigation. Too bad that's not an option for Roni, she's determined to nail the bad guy. Eventually Mateo gives in and offers to help her so she can close the case sooner rather than later and escape with her life. Of course there are plenty of opportunities for Roni and Mateo to "reconnect" and boy do they! But the big question is, where is it going? They can't possibly be together when he's involved in illegal activities and she's a cop obligated to turn him in.

I finished this novella in one sitting. It was just too good to put down! I enjoyed the writing style and the fast pace of the story. It didn't drag on or rush through chapters. Roni is the perfect heroine; independent, head-strong and sexy. While I wanted her to catch the bad guy I also wanted her to run away with Mateo and live happily ever after! He is just too sexy for words and they have amazing chemistry together. So I was definitely rooting for them to work things out as impossible as it seems. All in all, this was a fun sexy read and I can't wait to read more by Braxton Cole!

Review 4.5 stars

Hot, hot, hot!! Loved Roni and Mateo’s story! Being a novella, this was a quick but satisfying read for me. Roni’s personality hooked me immediately with her inner commentary and snarkiness. I thoroughly enjoyed her strength and smart-ass attitude.

"First, what kind of sadist invented four-inch spiky heels? Swear to God, if I ever meet the guy who invented them, I’m totally shoving one of these shoes up his tight, fashion guru ass. That thought, however, didn’t help me as I teetered around, trying for sexy vamp and landing somewhere around gimpy ex-hooker.” - Roni, BLOWN

And Mateo – hello! He’s sexy times a thousand! Plus he has this vulnerability and sweetness layered under his tough, bad-guy exterior that is damn hot. Put those two together and things heat up FAST! But there is a minor issue – they are on two sides of the law. Eek!

There is also a little action related to Roni’s job as a cop and an element of danger with her current assignment. I would have enjoyed a little more of that to really add some additional tension to the story.

Overall, this was a steamy quick read…perfect for that moment when you need a sexy story that will make you laugh and sigh and smile.

In Blown, you meet Roni who is an undercover agent on assignment for the dept of homeland security and Mateo who is a known criminal and guns dealer. They met by chance and after accidentally discovering what each other did for a living decided it best to go their separate ways. A cop dating a criminal usually doesn’t work out too well. lol. However, on this assignment they stumble upon one another and they realize how HOT things still are between them. And let me tell you, Roni and Mateo are hot, hot, hot! I loved Roni’s character...she has a won’t take crap from anyone attitude. I love books that have strong female roles instead of the whiny, needy, and immature female characters that have been making a presence in books lately. The author did a great job of helping us connect to the characters in such a short amount of time. I liked that this was not a lengthy read, and I could finish it in one evening. Another plus to this book...there is no cliffhanger ending! I am giving this five stars because the chemistry leaps from the pages. (ARC provided by author in exchange for honest review.)

Woah! My mind is quite BLOWN from this book! ;) haha pun intended!

I was not sure what to think since this is a novella.. but I got more than I imagined!

Braxton Cole sets us up with Mateo and Roni who couldn't be more opposite if they tried. That could be since one is a cop and the other a man on the wrong side of the tracks! That however does not stop the electric mind boggling sexual attraction they both have towards each other.

Mateo may be a "bad guy with the law" but he definitely isn't the bad guy when it comes to Roni. He is a possessive/protective man who wants her safe despite his position and her position with her job.

Yes, there is a lot of sex and lots of cursing by Roni, but it's nothing that I couldn't overlook, especially due to the circumstances and more!

I enjoyed both characters and enjoyed the ending especially!

And loved when the soft side of Mateo comes out when he says, "I want you Roni. If you'll have me."

What an intense short novella of Mateo and Roni. I wish there was more! ;)

Mateo and Roni; what a chemistry they have together. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter of this book. Roni and Mateo are past lovers; because of the lives they lead, they had to part ways. Roni is an undercover cop, and Mateo? Well, let’s just say he is a wanted man. Roni is on a mission to bring down some bad guys when Mateo sees her again. Will her cover be blown? Once Mateo sees Roni again he knows he can’t keep his hands off her. He doesn’t want to lose her again but the feelings they had in the past for each other erupt again as they rekindle the relationship. They both know that because of their jobs they can’t be together. Will their love last or will it end again for a second time?
I thoroughly enjoy this story. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The sex scenes in this book were more than hot; shall we say explosive? I would for sure!! This book will definitely be on my favorites list to be read more than once.

I usually only read short stories when I need to take a break from a really good book and bring me back down to earth, but this one…..it was HOT! The sex scenes just got better and better and I even loved the little love story and history the characters had with each other. I would have liked some more details on their past, but it was a great read. And how can I do my review and not mention MATEO! Oh Mateo, Mateo! (Note to Author: I loved his name!) Even though Mateo was a “criminal” he definitely showed a weakness when it came to Roni. There should definitely be more men out there like him, tough on the outside and all hot, sexy and soft on the inside. He was willing to do every and anything when it came to protecting his girl. Braxton Cole did a wonderful job writing this one and somewhere it left me wanting just a little more!

Holy sex on a stick!!! I am here to accuse miss Cole of wrapping multiple orgasms in a book cover and selling it like drugs. Yep, guilty for life, no parole. Sentenced to writing more of these. *bangs gravel* court is over.

This was a very fast read, for it wasn't that long. I must say that it was very hot. Mateo is now my current book boyfriend, thank you very much. But Roni was very likable. Strong independent woman who goes after what she wants. There wasn't much of a story line, but enough to sprinkle through all the sex *winks*

If you like erotic romance, this book is for you. But be warned: bring an extra set of panties

Very quick read. It was a nice free book and I enjoyed the story - so much in fact I kind of wish it had been a full length book. I would have liked to see it start with Mateo and Roni's first meeting and see what happened when he found out she was a cop rather than just reading a quick paragraph about it. It also got tied up a little too nice and pretty at the end. Although I love me a HEA it seemed a bit too good to be true. Anyhow, good book but I would've liked to see a novel instead of a novella.

I got this as an ARC. The book was a little slow going at first, then once it got into it, the scenes were scorchers. Roni and Mateo definitely have chemistry and then some! This was a good short, quick, to the point novella. I wish it could have had a little more detail in between everything, so you could get more jest of the story, but as far as novella's go, spot on!

First of all, I LOVE this title - talk about a perfect double entendre! Roni, a police officer, is worried about her cover bring blown when she runs into an old flame, Matteo, while working undercover to bust a drug syndicate. Matteo happens to be a criminal himself. Despite their intense attraction and steamy chemistry, how could a relationship ever work work between a cop and a criminal? Even though they both know that they have no future together, they can't deny their desire for each other, and give in to it quite often and in many steamy and explicit ways - hence the other meaning of the title.

I always feel challenged with novellas because it is difficult to fully explore the level of character and plot development I appreciate in a full length novel. I think the author did a good job at developing a complete story with interesting characters who you care about in such a short number of pages. At the same time, I think this is a novella with a great premise that has the potential to be expanded into a full length novel. There is enough room here to delve further into the motivations and back stories of the characters (especially Matteo) and the criminal plot line could be beefed up and some more action thrown in. It's not to say this story suffers from the lack of these elements, just that there is the potential to explore these in greater depth.

I really liked Roni - she is strong, confident, no-nonsense and doesn't delude herself with romantic notions. She is honest with herself and stands by her convictions, regardless of the hot piece of man candy who is heating up her life and her bed. As attracted as she is to him, she knows she could never compromise her principals to be with him. I would have liked to get to know Matteo better - get inside his head and learn more about his background, why he made his choices in life, and further explore his relationship with his brother. I feel like there is a lot of character development that could be expanded on with Matteo. However, this just means he is an interesting character worthy of further exploration.

I strugged a bit with the rating on this book. I enjoyed it, it got me hot and bothered, and I really liked the characters - enough to want to learn more about them. Where it fell apart for me a bit, is when Roni acknowledges that her relationship with Matteo is build on a foundation of lust and physical attraction. At one point in the story, they have an awkward moment where they realize they don't have much to talk about when they aren't naked. I actually thought this was a really honest and refreshing moment, and I liked it quite a bit. However, it seems to be forgotten by the author, or not sufficiently addressed to my satisfaction, when things wrap up so differently from this in the end (although I enjoyed how it ended).

Ultimately, I think a lot of people will like this story. It's got some compelling characters, an interesting plot, and a lot of spice. I liked it enough that I would like to see it more fully explored. However, the gap in regards to the physical vs. emotional relationship caused the rating to slip a bit off of a 4 star. But don't let that deter you - put this one on your To Read list.

Bad boy Mateo wants more from Roni except she’s not on the same page. Love is not in her near future, however, she isn't opposed to down and dirty panty-melting sex, especially when it's her ex providing it! Not to mention the small issue of undercover cop vs career criminal. They know that being on opposite sides of the law is a major barrier and leaves them without the possibility of a relationship even if their attraction is intense or the orgasms are earth shattering. Roni and Mateo cannot exist outside the bedroom, and seeing as Mateo lives the lifestyle of a career criminal even that is stepping over the line. Will Mateo have it in him to change his career choice or Roni's mind?

"Sometimes I wished I was more emotional, a hysterical girl."

No. No. No. I wouldn't have you any other way! I fricken adored Roni and the fact that she was a bad ass undercover chick who kicked ass first and asked questions later just cemented her character for me. It was refreshing to read about a heroine who wasn't whiny and drama filled.

"I'm not stupid. I know I don't get to keep you, but that doesn't mean I don't want to. And it doesn't mean I want to see you with anyone else."
"That little confession, all hearts and puppy dogs, was exactly the kind of thing that most women were dying to hear a man say. That didn't mean I wanted to hear it. Orgasms were fine. Proclamations of almost-love left me squarely in the land of what the fuck?"

Holy fucking shit, yes there probably is a more eloquent way to put that, but I don't want to be eloquent. I want to stress my first thoughts upon meeting Mateo. To say he was smoking hot is an understatement. Mateo is pure alpha bad boy, but underneath that dominant tough exterior lays a vulnerability that only showed itself when it came to our sassy take-charge heroine! Swoon!! Roni is Mateo's weakness. Will he turn his back against everything he is and knows to protect her or will he blow her cover to stay true to himself?

"He did that to me, scrambled my thoughts until all I could think about was him. I loved the way he felt, his muscles firm and hard, but beneath that he was so patently vulnerable. His touch revealed his heart every single time."

The lust-filled passion between Mateo and Roni is off the charts hot. Blown had more naughty scenes then it did pages. Their chemistry, emotional and physical, got better with each page. I promise your hormones will be working overtime and you'll be looking for the closest way to take care of them!

Braxton Cole has a way with words, they snag your attention from the very first sentence and keep you hanging on until the very last one is written. Her characters were developed well allowing for them to be relatable and engaging. My only complaint, it wasn't long enough! I wasn't ready for this couple to end.

Thanks to Braxton Cole for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I’ll start by saying this book probably wasn’t my cup of tea. It’s not that sex makes me uncomfortable though, I write sex for a living. It’s just how the sex is included in the story. I’ll explain more.

This story started off well, the idea was different, something I hadn’t come across before. I liked the characters too, they seemed interesting. However, after sex scene 1 and 2 I stopped reading them, the story had such an awesome beginning I really wanted to see it play out, however I quickly realised that the story was just a few pages surrounding all the sex. I mean I get it, the couple had awesome sex but I like to see sex as a development of the story where in this book, after the second time I really knew the sex was obviously supposed to be the reason for this book and not the story.

It was a short read, but if you removed all the sex out of it, you’d only have a story and not a book. You know like the essay sized stories kids write in school.

Because of the lack of story, I didn’t feel at all connected to the characters. I read the entire book, skimming the majority of sex after the first two times. I hoped for so much more as I said, the story idea was good, it was lost however in the sea of awesome sex. The story, where it was hidden in the sex, was rushed and lacked detail. I usually remember characters for a few days after I read a book… I don’t even remember what colour hair Roni had… was it even mentioned?

Other than during the sex, I have little memory of the characters really feeling much. You’d have thought with life and death moments that the characters would have been sweating, hearts pounding, minds racing… there was none of that. It lacked description that would have allowed me as a reader to feel along with the characters. Even when someone was gunned down in front of their eyes! I would have expected a grotesque moment of blood splatter and stomach’s churning, but even the gun shot wasn’t explained other than “Shot the guy point blank in the face.” And a minor mention of blood and brain matter. At this point, the characters would feel so much and it’s an awesome opportunity to really explain the various feelings running rampage through the body… Sadly, it was an opportunity missed. My heart didn’t race with the characters, I didn’t feel along with them when they were terrified they were going to be next and I didn’t cheer them along when they fled the scene.

I was very much disappointed with this book. However, if you want to read lots of sex surrounded by very little story, this one is for you.
