Once upon a time, a little girl was born on a cold winter morning in the heart of Seoul, Korea. She was brought to America by her parents and raised in the Deep South where the words ma'am and y'all became an integrated part of her lexicon. She wrote her first novel at the age of eight and continued writing on and off during her teenage years. In college she studied biology and chemistry and finally combined the two by earning a master's degree in biochemistry. After that she moved to Yankee land where she lived for four years working in a laboratory at Cornell University. Homesickness and snow aversion forced her back South where she lives in the land which spawned Elvis Presley, Oprah Winfrey, John Grisham and B.B. King. After finding her Prince Charming, she gave birth to a wondrous gift named Caylin and they all lived happily ever after.

The second book to the Harvester of Light trilogy will be available for purchase no later than December 2012.

This is a pretty good series, but there are some things I would change about the story. First, I would make it a trilogy and not four books for the entire story to be written in. If you take out a lot of the make out scenes between the main characters Jessi and Mason and the one stupid, big scene where the main character Jessi was being insecure and jealous of her husband's past lovers (which I thought was kind of dumb to begin with), it would be a way better story showing the main character as a strong individual, not some emotional insecure little girl who needed to be coddled. I would also tighten up the story as I thought there was a lot of unnecessary dialogue that didn't need to be said.

Overall a great story, but there were times I felt the main character Jessi was childish and dumb and bossy especially in regards of the other characters who were ancient (arch) angels. It made me cringe whenever she talked to them (like they were dumb or something, giving THEM advice about behavior when she is just 22 years old herself) and they are like millions of years old. It was like these angels had no brain of their own and couldn't think for themselves at times. They should of been portrayed more of a bad ass nature.

One other thing, this series really needs to be filed under YOUNG ADULT, because it's definitely written like a young adult series.

This is the conclusion of Jess's story as she and her friends finally figure out what Lucifer has planned and face off against him in order to close the tear and save the world - yay!

My expectations must have been too high for this book because I found myself exasperated by so many little things. For example, Jess's group of friends have a pretty monumental task ahead of them = preventing Lucifer from destroying Earth and all its alternate realities. Yet Jess is constantly distracted by things like attending concerts and planning a wedding, and she and Mason are always running off to have sex. Seriously, more paragraphs are devoted to them sneaking off together and saccharine sweet talk between them than to the problem the characters have been trying to solve since book one. I get that the characters needed to maintain a little of a normal life, but it made the climax anticlimactic. As did the fact that

This is book four and the final book for this series, you really need to start with book one to understand what's happening. This is a good YA series, it has some sexual content, but nothing to explicit. I like the way this author incorporated the angels into the story. I also like how Lucifer is portrayed through our this series. This series is done, but the next series will again need Jess's help in some way.
Good storyline. Great characters.

More of the same. Too many sex scenes to skip over, and innuendos peppered throughout. It got to the point where I feel like it detracted from the story instead of adding to it. Without that the storyline was pretty good, and had some great spots to it. I was kind of disappointed at the end of the book to realize that the stories continue in another series. I think I'm just kind of ready to be done with this storyline. I wasn't enjoying it enough to continue reading several more books about it. Maybe if I take a break and come back to it I will enjoy it again.

Missed potential

This series started great. Unfortunately, I found myself skimming through much of this book. I felt like the sex was way overdone and uninspiring. I found my eyes rolling as I mentally flinched through each reference of "matches" and "marshmallows", ugh. Cute can quickly become redundant. The ending was very well done, climatic and exciting. Still liked many of the characters and see a lot of potential in soon offs that are mentioned in the author's notes. Going to give myself a break from this author for a while.

Love and the feels all around

Wow! That was an emotional rollercoaster in the next way. Love, a marriage, struggles, friendship and more. Everything comes together for Jess she lives through her anxiety and stubbornness to reach the ultimate happiness. I am hooked on this series and can't wait to read more. S.J. West your writing is amazing! I don't get this emotional over books and so far each one has made me laugh and cry and I've loved every minute! Thank you!

I usually don't read these kind of books. But I am glad I did. I really enjoyed this book. Wish I would have started from the beginning but it was ok I didn't. I was surprised by the end.

A great ending to the watcher chronicles with a final battle we’ve been working towards for the last three books. I’ve loved watching the characters grow, interact and find each other as well as relationships blossoms and thought the premise of the story was great. I loved the plot and the idea of the books and grew to really enjoy this series. Books 1-3 for me were brilliant however I did feel like this one was perhaps a little unnecessary and could have been tagged into the end of the third book to make it a trilogy.

The only thing that slightly spoiled it for me was the fact that the majority of this book was a sexfest/ one long make out session! The two main characters of Mason and Jess were like a pair of Randy teenagers and I got a little bored of all the amorous scenes and make outs after a while! The first few were special and overcoming a hurdle for Jess, and was well worked up to however overkilled a bit in this book! If you took out the bedroom and make out scenes, this book would only be a few pages long!

Other than that though , I did really enjoy the series and would definitely read some of her others if I came across them. Definitely intrigued after the ending and it wasn’t too bad all in all.

I am so emotional right now!!! This book took me to a very sad place.... then right back to happy. The emotional bond I feel with these characters is only something a very talented author can achieve. I also have to say thank you to SJ West..... every time I am so in love with a series it just ends with a happy ending then that is it.... done.... over. SJ West knows the way to my book reading heart..... a story that never ends..... kind of. The first series, then the chronicles, and soon Aiden and Caylin's story is my wish come true. I cannot wait for that story line but until then I plan on reading every SJ West book I can get my hands on.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I thought this was a good ending to the Series. I loved that as another Vessel is found their bond together gets stronger and they’re going to be lifelong friends/family. I loved meeting Aiden and can’t wait for his story, he just has to work on himself for a bit until he’s ready to be with his Soul Mate Caylin which is completely unexpected but only God knows why two seemingly different people are Soul Mates. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with Lucifer and the Princes of Hell as each Series in the Watchers Universe progresses but especially in Caylin and Aiden’s books. I found Jess was a bit judgemental where Aiden was concerned like yes, he shouldn’t have been doing that where Leah could hear but he’s ancient and she’s only 22 years old. The same thing happened where Remy was concerned when he was complaining about Leah or how Remy would act a bit weird or say something a bit ditzy and Jess’s dad even called her on it saying that being on alternate Earth probably wasn’t good for him since the darker atmosphere probably scrambled with his angelic powers. I wish more of the story would’ve been about the Vessel’s building their relationship and working towards the final battle with Lucifer and the Princes of Hell instead a lot of the story being about Jess and Mason sneaking off and constantly having s*x as well as planning their wedding and when Mason and Jess went away and one of his past lovers kissed Mason and Jess got jealous and completely freaked out. Yes, he was completely stupid taking her to the same hotel that he always stays at with whatever women he was with during his stay, therefore making Jess feel like she’s no better than any other women he’s been with, whereas she’s his everything. It wasn’t his fault that the women was in love with him as he can’t control anyone else’s feelings. Jess and Mason are soul mates and it happened before they even knew each other so I don’t really know what the point was even having the whole scene in the book as it didn’t add anything to the story. Also considering the massive task that Vessel’s I’m glad I’m hoping we get more of the Vessel’s as not much is known about them since we only got snippets of them during this series since this was Mason and Jess’s love story. I thought it was cute that Leah and Joshua are boyfriend and girlfriend as she really liked Josh from alternative Earth but he never paid attention to her which makes sense considering Leah was never meant to be on alternate Earth so Josh was never for her but Joshua is. I’m looking forward to reading more about them in Caylin and Aiden’s story since Joshua and Leah are best friends with Caylin. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author.

The final book of this series. But not the last book in the world so that makes this goodbye a little easier.

Jess finally learns what Lucifer's plans are for the world so it is time to work with her team to get ready for this final battle which will determine the fate of the world. However, Jess will have to face the most difficult decision of her life.

Everything has come together for our characters. The fate of the world rests on Jess and her team. I had no idea how they were going to stop Lucifer. I was nervous the whole time. You could feel that everyone was just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I was worried because the last book they spent A LOT of time in bed. Sure I was happy for Jess and Mason in the last book for taking that step in their relationship, but it seemed to take up too much time in the last book. This book....some scenes could've been trimmed a little bit but it didn't eat as much time as the last one did so that made me happy. However, there was a lot of filler scenes though. It was nice seeing and meeting new characters (I'm sure they are going to be popping up in other books) and it was nice to have some downtime here and there, but I felt like it did slow down the plot a little bit. Like the last concert scene or the scene at the hotel where Jess gets UBERLY jealous of Max's ex. Don't get me wrong...I did enjoy a lot of those scenes, but ya it was a little too much overall.

OoooOOoooo I adored Aiden. I can't wait for more of his story. Poor guy. I want him to have his HEA but it will take time. Gah.

I am also curious what Lucifer will do next. I like him too even though he is a baddie. He is very complex. I want him to become good again!!

OH that ending was good. I was in tears!!!!!!

The narrator was fantastic as per normal. I wonder if she'll be doing some more of the books in the other series set in this world. She is so good. Her range of voices for the guys and girls are wonderful.

I can't wait to dive into more of the books. I love this world so much.

Overall, this was much better than book 3. This did have a lot of filler scenes though...some were fun while some could've been cut out or trimmed a little. Oooo that ending. All the feels. Sobs. I'll give this 3 stars.

If you finished The Watcher Trilogy READ THIS NEXT SERIES!!! I had my doubts that I would NOT like it as much as Brand and Lily's story! I was wrong yet again of course.
SPOILER ALERT. Review for books 2 to 4
So, in the span of a few days I couldn't help myself in reading all the books.

I think this book series would have been made into 3 books instead of 4.
There were ALOT of descriptive sex scenes throughout book 3 and 4. And, I feel it went overboard in everyscene. It felt like it was crossing over into 50 Shades territory and I never even cared to read that book. Like there is enough sex on TV and Films, that I feel like when I see it in a book it's just weird. haha. But, that's just me.

I never read a book before where the character had sexual abuse before, and this book series was interesting in how you see how Jess tries to get into a relationship with Mason while trying to deal with her past.
While there is alot of sex scenes. I think in hindsight, for a much younger reader the good thing it shows in how much in love the two characters are and committed to eachother.

She really has a gift in making you care for the characters and feeling like your right there in the fight scene. The ending were Jess dies and is brought back to life is really beautiful.

I did not think I would care for Jess and Mason as much as I did for Brand and Lily but she did it again. Even the other characters she brought in all were great.

I think it's an intersting series because The Watcher's Trilogy( Brand & Lily's story)- definatley felt like it was PG. Then Caylin's story was defitnely PG as well. The Watcher's Chronicles felt like I was reading one of those "trashy" romance novels at certain times, just because how much sex was in it.
A part of me thinks it would make a great TV series. But, I feel like Brand and Lily's story belongs on the CW, while Mason and Jesse's story belongs on HBO.lol.

I bought the 4 book box set and this review covers all of the books from that set.

I was drawn into this series from the very beginning, and I couldn’t help but buy this box set to find out what happened next. I was so looking forward to finding out how Mason was going to break through Jess’s painful walls and how she was going to teach the scarred fallen angel how to forgive himself. The fact that they clashed so well from the start made the love story that much sweeter. To have Lucifer in the mix as a sort of “third wheel” and “devil’s advocate” was an added bonus. And she sees what kind of faith she has when God tells her what the sacrifice will be in order to save her world.

Jess has sass and stands up to both Mason and Lucifer with the same ease, though her feelings for Mason make things a bit more awkward for her. Their love story starts out sweet and becomes a bit more steamy than might be necessary, for me, but it gives us an insight into how extremely intense and possessive these children of God can be.

Each of the secondary characters become an important part of not only an important set of back stories, but also to the story itself. They are all just as important in their parts whether they be large or small. The loss of a beloved character is heartbreaking and the all-consuming love of the lead characters is passionate.

I think I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Lilly and Brandon, but I adore each of the new characters Ms West introduces to us. I hope to see some of the secondary characters find love among the angels too, but until then, I’m looking forward to reading about the long awaited relationship between Lilly and Brand’s daughter Caylin and the playboy angel Aiden. Thank you for adding another layer to this amazing tale, S.J. West.

I'll begin by saying that the worst thing about this series is the fact it was written in the first person. There were soooo many characters that were interesting enough a third person narrative would have been so much better. And, since this author can't seem to write anything other than first person, in any of her books, I won't be reading anything else she's written.

And when I was waiting for a battle in this book it became a stupid argument about an ex girlfriend. Jeez, Jess was soooo stupid I couldn't believe it. And Mason kept begging her to forgive him. Because he had a life before her?? And then their sex act after that was simply ridiculous! I was sorely tempted to dump the book at that point. but instead I skimmed forward, just to get it over with. But every time I stop my skimming to see what's going on they're having sex again. The last chapter was the best part of the book. They weren't able to have sex since they were in the midst of a battle.

The only good book was the first one. Before Jess was ever kissed and found out about sex. The other 3 books were useless. Lots of possibilities but waaaaay to much sex. I'm glad it's over.

No swearing to speak of but the book was just full of sex. Too much sex and not enough story.

As to the narration: Brittany Pressley was just as awesome with this book as she was with the other three. I especially loved the voice of JoJo, but all the voices were great.

Solid From Beginning to Glorious End
*sigh*
I started out liking this series. I finished the series totally loving it. There's so much here. The love story of Jess and Mason is match to flame. The relationship of Jess and Lucifer is so dynamic it's almost beyond description. The basic concept of the story itself is both easy to accept and mind boggling in the same breath. Awesome.

I was thrilled to see these characters, who were already full of depth, continue to grow as the series continued. It was amazing watching the struggles some of them faced, while others chose the simpler path of giving in. The story can be read at face value, or gleaned for its hidden wealth of wisdom within--something so often missing these days. Characters manage to express real emotions without resulting to curse words to do it, and while some couples are quite passionate (i.e.- Jess and Mason) the author gets the point across very well without going into graphic detail.

Loved this series and its marvelous characters.

Hell on Earth?

Jess and Mason with their friends, fellow Watchers and Archangels face the fight of their lives. Both Lucifer and Jess have only one to add to their group and when that happens all hell will break loose, literally. This book made me laugh, cry and scream in equal measure. There is the wedding proposal to end all proposals, the appearance of God and a final battle that had me reaching for a box of tissues. The book also introduced us to two more soul mates, but I won't spoil the book by saying who they are. All in all this series was one hell of a ride and I can't wait to continue my journey through the Watcher universe and catch up with old friends. I listened to this book for free with Kindle Unlimited.

Solid conclusion to the series

This was a good conclusion to the series while opening the door for the next story, Caitlin s story.

This book is all about getting ready for the fight and getting married. Loved the parts with Lucifer. But all the special/secret parts were now known by all. Everyone just called a watcher and phased everywhere. The were just taxi drivers in this story.

3 stars because it wrapped everything up, but it wasn't full of the engaging narrative we had in the other books in this series. It felt like a check list with steam thrown in. The adventure of finding crowns and relics was just thrown away and everyone just found or had what they needed and you learned little to nothing about the new vessels.

Fabulous

I really enjoyed this series. It was a brilliant journey of blind faith and following your heart and gut instincts. Characters have depth and relatable. I’m hoping that future novels delve deeper into their stories. I stumbled across this series purely by accident and I’m glad I did. My only con was the “matches” was completely overdone and unnecessary in so much of this installment. It was like every other scene - we get it - they’re in love and can’t keep their hands off each other, but it became repetitive and cringeworthy after the first 10 times. Give me more story, more conversation, and a few “matches” scenes and I’d be a happy camper with a 5 star rating.

This is the final book in the series, Jess finally figures out what Lucifer’s plans are. Now it’s up to her and the rest of the gang to stop him from completing his plan.

I enjoy fantasy books, and I tend to like the ones that are not so deep into fantasy. So this series was perfect for me. I also enjoyed the slow burn romance between Mason and Jess. I enjoyed all the other characters that come around in this book. Over all I really enjoyed this book and the author does a great job of keeping the story going and adding new twists that are all needed in the end to fight against the bad guys.

I will definitely continue to read more books by this author and in this series.

Well constructed story and characters.

I can’t remember any corse language. There is violence, but doesn’t go into gory details. The story does touch on molestation.

Narrator Brittany Pressley brings the characters alive with their own individual unique voice. And I really enjoy her telling the story. Speed is set at 1.4 x

Real enjoying the series. Love this one so much I’m got The Watchers Trilogy series. Which should be read before The Watcher Chronicles. Each series can stand alone without reading other series. And I enjoy both series.

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher free of charge for a honest, unbiased review.

It’s an ending of Mason and Jess’ story but there are so many threads dangling it’s obviously not the last time we shall see them. Their love story is well underway and the guardians made a sacrifice to save Jess. The vessels and their powers along with the watchers all came together to help close the Tear. The book was 85% romance and 15% figuring how to defeat Lucifer’s plan to destroy the earth. Jess needs to learn to share the burdens and stop believing that SHE is the only one who can stop Lucifer. The story was slow until you get to the fight scenes. Several new characters are introduced for continuity of the series (Aiden) so maybe I’ll read that one :)

Storyline good

I do like the story, how each of them have their own angels to help them. But..this half of this book was about Jess and Mason having sex! Don't think that many details were needed to know how much they meant to each other. I'm not against the sex, but did it need to take up half of the story? The first couple of books did great without the need to give us a porn version. I really did like the series. It kept me wanting to read the next book in the series, but now I'm done.

In the finale of The Watcher Chronicles, Jess finally learns what Lucifer’s plans are for the world. The vessels discover what their destinies are and Jess must face the most difficult decision of her life.
Probably not what I would normally choose, but was still a good read. Archangels, demons, sex, Lucifer hiding any softness and the longing he carries for a friendship long past.
I would recommend this series though maybe it should have been shortened to a triolgy instead of 4, but still enjoyable

I really enjoyed The Watcher Chronicles, when I read these I didn't know there was The Watcher series first so I will have to go back and read those before I continue on to the next lot. I didn't feel like I had missed anything as S J West set these four books up really well. Jess goes through so much and all you want is for her to have happiness with Maison. I never though I would read a book about "God", Fallen angels... Yes! God... No! But this booked sucked me in before I found out that it revolved around "God" and his children.

Could have been so much better. I don't mind matches when they ignite a fire but they are just matches in these books. I was so hopeful when I listened to the first book. The premise was fun and the journey had the potential to have so much more adventure. I wanted the author to take us along when all the others found their crowns talisman and met their Angel. I wanted to see more of their lives throughout this struggle.

A 4.5 star read!!
(I'm ignoring the appalling sex scenes!! 🙄)

We know all of the Archangels & their vessels now so we now need to find out what & when things are going down!! Jess & Mason need to get married & try to get everyone safely through the battle to come!!

I freely admit to bawling my eyes out during this book. It was heartbreaking 😭😭 Such an amazingly good read (ignoring the sex?) and it sets up the follow on nicely for Caylin & Aiden 😊

This series was AWESOME!!! The author wrote a quality story from the first in the series until the end. I couldn't stop listening. This series has it all. Romance, Suspense, Thrill, Angst (just a little) and a bit of Laughter. Don't pass on this one. It is well worth the time to listen/read. The narrator does a fantastic job with the characters, their personalities and the overall story line. GREAT LISTEN!!!!
