I write fiction and creative nonfiction and teach writing and literature at the College of Wooster. My novel KILLINGLY is forthcoming from Soho Crime and Corvus in the UK in June 2023.
My first novel ALCESTIS, a retelling of the Greek myth, will be reissued by Soho Press in September 2023.
DNF’d at 17% when it got to the murdering of an innocent animal. That’s an absolute no from me. Even before this, I was very bored and struggling to keep reading. Although, having now googled for spoilers to A) find out if the animal cruelty continued and then B)when finding out it did, decide to DNF so find out if my theory on a family secret was correct and it was. So even with being bored, not invested at all and forcing myself on, I still managed to clock a twisted family secret within the first 50 pages and honestly, I’m not mad I didn’t keep reading through that.
Tried the book AND the audiobook but still couldn’t finish this!
Don’t know which was worse! Both dull, boring and slow but the audiobook narrator had such a monotonous voice that I think SHE was as bored as WE were!!
