Jennifer Lozano was on her way to a friend’s bachelorette partying Costa Rica. But things don’t always work out as planned, and she ends up in a remote jungle in Colombia where she has to rely on her nursing skills to stay alive. Jenny was hoping a few days on the Sandy beaches would help ease the pain of a broken heart. Little did she know that when she walked into the airport terminal with the Dallas businessman, she’d end up a hostage for a group of Colombian rebels after a botched kidnapping attempt. It doesn’t take long for her to realize that one of her captors has plans to dump her body on the side of the road after they use her to escape. But the rebel leader has been wounded in the battle, and as long as Jenny can keep him alive, she lives another day.

Jennifer Lozano has just landed in Costa Rica for a friend’s bachelorette party. She was hoping a few days on a sunny, sandy beach would help her get over her broken heart. She doesn’t even get out of the airport before she finds herself in the middle of a gunfight. The man she sat next to on the plane is gunned down and one of the gunman is hit as well. Her nursing instincts kick in and she tries to help the man closest to her only to find herself being taken hostage by a group of Colombian rebels. They use her a shield to get out of the airport and take her with them as they head back to Columbia. She hears her captors talking about killing her and leaving her on the side of the road but right now they need her. The man hit was their leader and her nursing skills are needed to keep him alive. As long as she does that they will let her live, but then what?

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Wow! Wow! WOW!!!

Lipperman takes us deep into the Colombian jungle and like Jennifer the reader will be deeply affected by this group of Freedom Fighters. Men, woman and children fighting against the powerful Cali Cartel to make the region safe for them and others. Jennifer also has an awakening about her own life witnessing “the family” she has been drawn into and by the person who comes to rescue her. He too will learn his life path before was cloudy, but after his time in Columbia everything becomes clear and in total focus. It takes time before they both realize they want the same thing.

We are taken from Texas to Costa Rica then on to Columbia and back to Texas. It is quite a journey and you will be glued to the pages for the entire trip. The characters and settings are so real. This author is excellent in putting the reader right there. You can hear the gunfire, smell the food, and feel the heat. The reader is immersed into the story and you become invested in these characters.

I found this author through her cozy mysteries so I want to warn there is nothing cozy about this story. It is a suspense and thrill filled story with just a bit of romance and a strong sense of family dynamic. It is a story of courage and perseverance, hope and dreams! This is story for your keeper shelf because it is a story you will want to read again and again.

Wow!! You need to get this book today!!

This is a Romantic Thriller, Suspense filled, Shockingly powerful novel. Not a Cozy by any thoughts. However if you want your senses on overdrive...rush out and buy it now!

Wow! I was Shattered on page 28, agonized on page 100, tears pouring down my face on page 150-151, compelled to continue reading in almost painful suspense until page 184. Lulled into false security but still nervous through pages 196-97 then cast into fury and fear until mid page 205. Page 206 found me in romantic suspense (will it work?) until 244. Then pages 245 until 247 fear re-entered as I contemplated Carmen and Rafael's life. Finally, Page 248 came and...Tears of relief, happiness, and for the future hit as you placed the whipped cream upon the Ice Cream Sundae! Phenomenal work. Truly phenomenal.

I do not know how to write this review ...Romantic Suspense- Yes. Suspenseful Thriller - Yes, Romantic Horror -yes in the terror man puts man through. Heck, even wolves were involved!

What am I talking about? A young woman, Jennifer Lozano's simple and joy filled trip to Costa Rica for a bachelorette party which turns into a botched kidnapping at the airport. A simple sentence that gave me the most scary and sensual journey that I've taken in book reading years!

Not for the faint hearted. This book should be up there with the novels of Alex Cross etc.

I wish I could give this novel 10 HUGE stars! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED "Shattered." I finished it last night around midnight and I still can't stop thinking about it. My eyes are swollen from all the tears I shed. What can I say? Some books reduce me to a blubbering fool, but it was worth it.

“Shattered” is a novel of suspense, mystery, action, and romance and so much more; a story that will take you on a journey that no person would ever want to take; a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat at all times. Welcome to South America, a world of freedom fighters, government corruption, gun-runners, and drug cartels all vying for wealth and power. Where an innocent young woman has been kidnapped and can die any second just for being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Liz Lipperman delivers an unbelievably well-written novel with spectacular imagery that makes the whole book come alive and feelings of realism. Topping it off with an array of diverse characters – some you’ll love and some you’ll hate.

I highly recommend this novel as this is a must-read. Just be ready to be taken on an emotional roller-coaster ride like no other. To say this a is page-turner is putting it mildly; once you start you won’t be able to stop.

This is a story of betrayal, fear, courage, broken lives, and ultimately, new dreams that begins in Dallas and crosses into Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia when a botched kidnapping forces the heroine and hero to risk their lives and join forces with a group of resistance fighters waging war against the powerful Cali Cartel. It's the first book I ever wrote and remains the book of my heart. It will be available March 5 with Goodreads Giveaways.
