Alpha Spikes

Sterek AU.
Alphas are like royalty and are offered their choice of any age eighteen-and-up virgin Omega for each year's heat season, as a 'thank-you' to all they've done for their compounds throughout the year. Derek is an Alpha and...yeah, Stiles. Stiles is an Omega. And still a virgin. In every way. And he's just turned eighteen. This...is not his day.

This book is long. Like, really long. But it's cute. As a button. Like bunnies. That cute. Plus KNOTTING. There's KNOTTING. With KNOTS.

Oh, and the above? That's how Stiles speaks in the book.

So, yeah. KNOTTING.

Heat tribute.

Fairly sweet and tame offering from the Omegaverse. Stiles gets picked by Derek and all kinds of truths are revealed. Amusing, not laugh out loud, but entertaining. Oblivious and obstinate sum up the character conflicts.

Favorite passage:
Derek turns and takes a few steps toward him, but they're tentative, like he's calculating his approach, stalking a prey he doesn't want to startle.

Stiles being the prey. …And too horny to startle, really.

Great voicing and a solid story set up--definitely a writer to keep an eye out for. You realize after a while that not as much is happening as first seemed, more a circling around possible events than events themselves. Which, I suppose, is another way of saying the story is too long. Also, while it wraps up, the ending itself just plops out of no where. Just to be clear--sex, what there is of it, is scorching.

This was much better than I expected and I liked it a Hell of a lot, just not all of it. I really, really, really liked Heat Week…KNOTTING!!

description

Some of it totally got on my nerves. I hate separations. I hated Lydia in this and Derek really needed to grow a pair and totally speak using WORDS but the world and the main focus of the story was pretty awesome. The end was too rushed and I really, really wanted

I would rec it.

A/B/O. Stiles POV. Stiles Omega / Derek Alpha. Alpha's are kind of like celebrities in this. I am not an A/B/O fan in general, but this was a decent read mainly for the sex. It ends rather abruptly I felt - I thought there was another part to it - there is a lot of plot built up and then unresolved, but it was so long already I was kind of okay with it ending where it did.

Jeez, that was drawn out way too long for what the story was.

This is of the A/B/O trope and it was quite tame compared to the others I have read. But I appreciated a more thought out society/cultural makeup and it did shed some light on hierarchy dynamics. In this AU, alphas are far and few between and their status reminds me of royalty. They are so high on the totem pole that they have their pick of willing (or nonwilling) omegas to take their heat with. They often live separate from the other betas and omegas and visit the enclosed compounds where they reside yearly.

I felt like this had a split personality. There’s an at times, overly verbose part that is mainly the ramblings of Stiles’ inner voice commenting on his small town life and the goings on. He’s awkward and resigned - a bit geeky. The other part is when Stiles is with Derek or thinking of Derek. Those scenes were more intense, shedding light on their past history and delving more into their complicated relationship. Their shared heat cycle is pretty hot and there’s some nice KNOTTING.

This was long and had a lot of exposition. I wouldn’t say that it's bad, nor would I say that it’s awesome either. Should you attempt this, I think most would agree with that noncommittal comment.

3.5 stars. A well-written sterek fanfic. Alpha Derek chooses Stiles from the Omega virgins at the annual choosing ceremony. I did get a little tired of the Stiles head-talk by the end.

'Derek’s not a girl. He’s not a girl at all. He has non-girl parts and a non-girl face. There’s a definite five o’clock shadow. His chest isn’t soft. His hips aren’t full. His jawline and cheekbones could probably cut diamonds. He doesn’t wear lip gloss and he doesn’t have strawberry blonde hair, and there’s no way in Hell, even in the dark with his eyes shut, that Stiles could ever pretend he does.'

This was good.really good.A whole lot of good actually.

I loved the whole concept of AU like hunger games only with shifters in it.

The one hitch was the ending...it was JUST PLAIN ABRUPT...It was like the author was tired of writing the story and just decided to end it...That did not go well with me...

And I wanted Derek's POV as well.. *I know you can't have it all but one can always hope, right!!*

The story was good. the writing was good...Bottom line-I enjoyed it...So I will just go and read another

Would have liked to have known way more about the world. More about a lot of things actually. The law system included. World building could have been better basically, but I liked pretty much everything else.

Omega heat book.. I found it to be confusing at times. Like, not sure of how the dynamics were really supposed to work, since it felt a little back and forth to me.

Then, when reaching another heat, the discussion/argument of sterek didn't quite make sense either. Some things mentioned were like, why is this even something to blow up and get mad about.

Although I did like it. But considering this kind of revolves around Alpha/Omega heat, there wasn't enough descriptive knotting, possibly even just sex too.

This was a great read, a solid three star book! I enjoyed the world building, the dynamics of Alpha Royalty choosing a ‘heat mate’ for a week, and the virgin Omegas lining up on parade-lots of competition! It was an intriguing storyline, and fun to read; Stiles despairs of his purple suit, yet manages to attract a familiar face and there is where the story begins. It was lovely reading about Stiles ‘hook’ feeling, like he and Derek belonged, though he couldn’t tell if Derek felt the same way. It was also steamy as they went through the mating week, and Stiles wonders if he’s attaching feelings to his first time, or if there is something more. And the side story of Danny and Jackson (who are fast becoming a favorite couple of mine) had me wishing for more. The unraveling of the backstory between Stiles and Derek was worth waiting for, and overall this was well executed. I do feel though, that at times the MCs felt a little OOC, and that for a lot of the story, Derek and Stiles were apart, trying to forget one another which wasn’t as enjoyable as it would have been had they been together. Neat story, great idea, good execution!

This book was hilarious and the dialogue for Stiles is so spot on that I loved reading it, there were many moments where I laughed out loud while reading this fanfic, seriously.
However I don't know about anyone else, but I dislike when books skip important parts of the plot to move onto something else, making the plot feel rushed and unnecessarily moving at weird pace. That happens in this book and that's why my review drops down to 4 stars.
This is a must read for any Sterek/Teen Wolf fans out there!

Teen Wolf (TV) fanfiction: Stiles/Derek
It wasn't abysmal, but I wasn't in love with it either.
It used a lot of bad plot devices, and wasn't very original in any area.
Stiles' anger at the end was understandable, but when he's spent the entire novel in denial of it, the abruptness of it is terrible; it should've been a gradual thing (or hinted as a gradual thing), but it wasn't.

I am honestly unashamed of how much I love this.

This fic right here is a fandom classic. It's probably THE fandom classic. It's practically required reading for the fandom and there are A LOT of fandom tropes in this one. It's basically one long *wink and nod* to the fandom.

It's...you know what it is? It's the Sharknado of Sterek fic.

You know you liked Sharknado.

2.8 rounded up.

I liked this way more than I thought I would. I kinda assumed I wouldn't make it past the first chapter based on others reviews but I was surprisingly pleased. It's not a GREAT Sterek but it's not bad and I enjoyed the read. There are inconstancies and other issues like Derek just being a failwolf and kinda lame the whole fic. But still, I'm happy enough.

Okay, so I'd have given it five stars, if the so called smut would have been steamier, because that's pretty much my only hangup about this otherwise hilarious fan-fiction. I did really like it, the plot was great, everyone were pretty much in character, especially Stiles and everything was well written!

I was completely in love with this until the last two pages of the story!! It ends so abruptly and it seemed so rush that it kind of lost it's awesome flair.

Really a good story. Derek typically keeping away from what he really wants out of concern for Stiles and Stiles thinking he is not good enough. Love an emotional Derek but not showing it.
