When her best friend cancels their girls' night out plans at the last minute, Sophie is left all dressed up alone and lost in the middle of a world overflowing with tropical dreams and exotic drinks. The heady lure of kitschy paradise slowly erodes her inhibitions, convincing her that the hunky bartender has been glancing her way all night. Will she build up the courage to make a move, or will she spend yet another night alone in a cold bed? You'll have to grab a drink and wait around until Last Call to see how her incredible night ends.
Allen Dusk is a writer of dark speculative fiction who thrives on weaving shadows between genres. His stories slip between horror, science fiction, and the erotic, creating unsettling worlds where dread and desire collide. Known for twisting the familiar into something hauntingly strange, he pulls readers into narratives that refuse to stay predictable.
When he isn’t conjuring nightmares on the page, Allen explores his fascination with imagery through photography and revisits the eerie comfort of classic horror films.
I am a huge fan of Allen Dusk, and I love that this story has such a tantalizing erotic theme to it!
I love the main character, Sophie, and I am sure many of us can relate to how she feels. Her girlfriend cancels their plans last minute, so she sucks it up and goes into the tacky Tiki bar by herself for a drink anyway. (Made me think: Good for you!) Throw in a super hot bartender and an overpowering drink to the mix, and you've got some sizzling, sexy scenes in this short, fun romp. The hotness scale is off the meter on this one - I don't think I'll look at a Tiki bar the same way ever again. Ever. I love the ending as well, and again found myself thinking "Good for you, Sophie!" Lesson learned to not waste life doing something that you don't love to do. Of course, in my most romantic heart I DO hope that maybe one day Sophie does run into her hunky bartender on the beach. (sigh!)
A great short read. You will thoroughly enjoy this one!
