Third volume in the Sonny Preyer saga. Sonny has refused to believe that his DNA contains a genetic contract, giving anyone who mixes their blood with his, producing an heir, a stake in earthly resources that replenish themselves. Until now. Fighting this obligation with all of his might, his will is twisted by the torment of his people. Native Tennessean, Bridgette Hayden, is an author who describes her fiction as a marriage between childhood wonder and adult conflict. She currently resides in Tennesse enjoying the success of seeing her novel become #17 in Bestselling Fantasy Epic (Amazon). Of her fiction, the 45 year-old author warns, "My fairy tales are not for children, but rather, they satisfy adult anguish over things that can never be." The psychological pull of her fiction is noted for its ability to disturb as well as fascinate. All of her published works can be found at her sonnypreyer site. Her Sonny Preyer series, was originally written as one novel, but the author wisely listened to advise to break it into three full-length books, making publishing more feasible and lowering expenses for readers. "I didn't realize that I had three books until it was pointed out to me. I was ambitious about the story's scope so I figured that's why everything was taking so much time and effort. Then creatively, I hit a wall and couldn't write for a number of years. I told myself, 'you used sheer force to process three times the material. Problems with structure and organization were compounded. No wonder you're suffering from writer's block.' I demanded a lot from my creativity. I'm just happy it delivered. She's currently working on the fourth volume in the Sonny Preyer series.
In this third volume of the Sonny Preyer series, Hayden unfolds the origin story of the fantastic world she has created and of Sonny's role in it. Good in the body & spirit of Sonny does battle with evil in the form of Dastas.
For those, like me, who might at first be a little nervous about the sexuality of this book, there is no need to fear. It is all beautifully written and its purpose is integral to the story. (Still could use a little editing out of some pesky typos.) And you do really have to read the three volumes of the series in order; none of them will stand alone.
It is easy to imagine this series being made into an epically powerful movie. It is hard to turn the pages fast enough to keep up with the speed at which the story blasts toward its conclusion.
One of the Best fantasy series with m/m element I have ever read. Now when the fantasy element is so modern every writer is trying to write one but the result in 90% of them is not complementary to the author.
This book with the rest of the same series is one of the books you read and then re-read again and again.
