Rock Star Romance #1

Beauty in the Breakdown

Rate this book
Alexa Vansant isn't the type of girl to go looking for trouble, so what was she doing sitting in a Lower East Side dive bar waiting for Jackson Brent? What did she expect from a meeting with an international rock star sensation, infamous millionaire playboy, and notorious womanizer? He said the meeting was about business, and it had to be with her, alone, and on his terms...

When the most gorgeous man she's ever laid eyes on walks through the door, Alexa knows she's done for. Agreeing to meet with Jackson Brent may be the worst mistake she's ever made.

The moment his striking blue eyes meet hers, the rock star immediately has her fumbling. His British accent renders her helpless against his charms and Alexa is unable to control the desire welling inside her as a result of the sheer physical attraction she feels toward him.

It's unbecoming for a professional media journalist to get star-struck, this was supposed to be strictly business, or so she thought.

When Jackson reveals that he wants her to write his tell-all bio, Alexa is astonished. The privilege would mean instant fame and notoriety for her and her magazine. The only catch? She has to join him on his month long European tour, to experience who he really is... to get the proper intimate details...

Jackson pulls her into a whirlwind of lust, heartbreak, and utter passion. If she is the one to finally discover the real Jackson Brent, will she be strong enough to fight for his love?

**This novel contains intense sexual situations and mature language. It is intended for an audience at 18+ years of age.**

Review by Kimmi: go to http://Lipsmackingoodbooks.blogspot.com for this reviews pics, and follow my blog while your there too
I usually don't bother with books that have less than 4.5 stars because let's be honest there are thousands of books out there that I can not wait to tear through! So with that said, I took a chance on this book, some of the reviews I found were harsh, and I was a bit nervous, however this book was a chance I'm damn glad I took!
This was a stellar fun book, Alexa, the main character has a quick wit and a sharp tongue. She was freaking awesome! She is a classic woman that likes to live in her sheltered life and she rarely goes outside of her comfort zone. If you don't know her or you haven't pissed her off, you'd look at her and think she was shy or possibly a bitch that thinks shes to good. However once you get to know her, see behind her mask, or if you piss her off, lol, you find out she is fiercely loyal, and takes no shit. She can read your character quicker than you can see past her "shy, too good" facade.
Alexa's boss tells her to meet with the notorious rock god bad boy Jackson Brent, Jackson wants to run an expose in the magazine she writes for "The Beat". This is an opportunity of a life time, this story can put her on the map. She'd be set for life! But this is going to throw her so far out of her comfort zone, she's unsure if she'll be the same woman once the story is done. During her meeting with the rock god, *coughs* I mean Jackson, he informs her she will need to follow him on his European Tour for the next 4 weeks. She will be his shadow. Alexa heeds the warning bells and red flags, she knows she can't do this! This isn't Alexa, this isn't her life. There is no way she can do this.

*I'd like to add an insert here, if you'd give me a second. Now I know what you are thinking right now. Ummm Kimmi, yeah see I read this book about a year ago, instead of Jackson his name was Jake, and in stead of Alexa her name was Tru, And it wasn't Beauty in the Breakdown, it was The Mighty Storm, ok, ok. I hear ya! But now you hear me, this book may have some of the same ingredients, but it is NOT the same cake, hell it's not even cake! It's molten lava chocolate brownies! It is its own, trust me. Please. Back to the review, now lets shake this brownie up and get to the molten lava part ;)
Jackson Brent, *hard swallow, then sigh*
Tall, Dark, Hot, and oh come on he's a freaking Rock Star! My favorite book men have 1 of 3 occupations: Rock Star, MMA/UFC fighter (or hell really any kind of fighter, lol), or he is in a MC ;)
Jackson is the epitome of Hot. When he's not on stage, he exudes sexual energy, and he has a British accent <- No! I swear I'm not making this shit up, he has all of this awesome molten lava hotness all rolled into him. Now, put all that on stage, read how he inhales the power from the crowd, and he turns 10 foot tall and bullet proof! When Alexa sees him perform for the first time she says "Wow, it's like he's a god" the girl next to her says "No babe, he's even better, he's a Rock Star!"
This was a really great book, it was similar to other rock star books, but come on, they are all similar. I loved the chemistry between Alexa and Jackson, it was good, so damn good, mmhmm!
And I don't care what the other reviews say, this is ish was a fun and DIFFERENT Rock and Roll read! I give it 4.5, no 4.75 rockin' Kimmi Stars!

I can't help but feel this story should have been continued before ending it. So much more could have filled this story out.

I loved that Jackson finally got "real" with Alexa and wanted a serious relationship. The situation with Mary could have been expanded as well. After all, evil never sleeps!

Not bad for a quick read.

Not the best book I've read, but not the worst either. It was okay, but not really good enough for me to follow up on this series. There wasn't very much character development, or plot development, or even a real storyline to follow. I mean, basically Alexa meets Jackson. He's a rock star and want her to come on a month long European tour with him to wrote an exclusive expose on him and what its really like to be a rock star. They share a very tiny bit of their pasts, but that's about it. All of a sudden she is head over heels in love with him, after day 2 of the tour they sleep together, then his old band mate and supposedly ex lover shows up, tries to insiuate herself in his life, this causes problems for Alexa...they solve them fairly quickly...seriously, nothing really happens...then they go back to screwimg each other, and then they love each other and that's it. book over. Not terrible, good concept, but wasn't a very satisfying read either.

Please let me first explain why I will say something negative toward this book. When ever I choose to read something I tend to 1.read the negative comments (gives me a more clear concept to what I will read and sometimes someones negative is my positive and 2. I go with my instincts. I read over and over how this book could have had potential. And unfortunately I will have to agree. The book could have been great. But the character development was lacking in a serious way. One minute Alexa is hating the man whore he is and in literally two days its "I have fallen in love with him". Jax is no better never showed any emotions toward Alexa and then poof "I love you too". I'm all for love at first sight but it seems I got a better understanding of Jax insignificant past and at their love. Its sad because this could have (operative word here could) been a great story.

I love rock star books. I loved Jackson as the man he was and could be and then there is Jax the alter ego rock God that can be a jerkwad. This man is charming, smart, and a rockstar. SCORE!

Alex really has no idea what she signs up for agreeing to go on tour with this man an his motley band but she soon finds out. The fact that she makes peace with the groupies cracks me up! Who knew?

I loved this story and will add it to my read again pile.

The concept was there but the author didn't give us much info or exposure to Jackson!!! The was no romance, nothing to really get u to fall for him til the end. Too much of the story centered around her and not them together!!!! How did they even fall in love??? So much potential as I really like Jackson but he wasn't in book enough and story wasn't long enough!!!!

It's not like me to five 2 stars and write a review about a book. However, I just felt like I was reading The Mighty Storm by Samantha Towle. I kept reading and I finished the book. What I did was to look for the release dates of both books to know which one was first. I did this since I read TMS first but I wasn't sure if this one was first. They were released within a month a part and their similarities are huge. The plot is too similar (reporter going with the rock star to Europe to write a biography). I have to say I liked TMS more (except for the cheating thing) that this one.
While I was reading I checked my kindle to see how much was left and I was about 76% and it was day 2 in the tour. I thought there weren't enough pages left to finish the story line. Everything was rushed and how things were resolved was a let down

We have this Alexa girl who is a reporter and gets "chosen" by Jax Brent to write his biography so the world gets to know the real him. He arrives late and as usual she is putty once she looks at him. She decides it's ok to go with his band and write about him. She totally thinks she will not surrender to his charms, too late BTW if the second night you met him you get drunk and made a move.
Then we get to know the groupies, they all love Jax but they know he would never love them back so they settle for being around. The way they accept Alexa is far beyond believable, I mean, they don't even put of a fight for him. Things start to look good for Alexa and Jax when this Mary bitch gets to scene. My problems starts here, according to the way Alexa is described she is confident and down to earth, so why the hell does she want to be the second one in Jax's life?? Mary was Jax love interest for a while and he thinks he's responsible for her life. That's just stupid, a rock star who is going to place his happiness and desires in second place just to keep a woman happy. I get he feels responsible but how much is that going to last if she is just someone unwanted by everyone in the band.
Moving on, Alexa gets great advice from her friend and mother and she starts to stand for her own, but she believes everything Jax says. That's too much, who is willing go be girl in the side? No one! So, she stands by him and she manages to get the truth known by Jax. The way Mary leaves their life was too easy and without drama (ok, maybe I'm just the one who wants to have drama in a book). They get a 2 month HEA and with rock starts I don't thinks 2 months is enough to get their life settle.
I wouldn't read it again and it was a quick reading (I actually skimmed a lot).

A girl who is preppy and stuck up who is so ambitious that she lets her life slip by. A guy who is carefree and trapped by his profession that he is looking for a way out. When they meet it is like the Fourth of July.

Alexa is looking for her big break. She works for a music magazine but has no creative outlet to freely tell her stories. That is when Jackson comes on and presents her an opportunity of a lifetime. To be his story teller she is going to have to get out of her comfortable lifestyle and be a carefree as he is. As she starts crossing the line and developing feelings for him she realizes that he is not the man he presents to millions of people he is more than he appears.

As their story unfolds we see how complicated their life is and the future that may not happen without compromise. The chemistry is hot and at certain points I am so drawn into the story I didn't even know the story ended. I was blindly led and not known what happened. Rock On!!!

The only thing that "irked" me with this book was *SPOILER* that the main girl was hired to write an expose on the Rocker dude. Well that sounds nice except the night after she gets hired she gets plastered and tries to sleep with him, he declines. So after she boards the plane to go on the tour with them she does shots with band which becomes a regular thing throughout the book and then sucks face with the Rocker dude in the bath room. Then she sleeps with him after he tells her his sob story. So now we are 3/4 through the book and she has NOT written a thing. And she keeps saying "today I'm going to start fresh and do my job and be professional" and then she sleeps with him again... So yeah she dresses like a prep but when it comes to that Rocker she acts like a groupie and any thoughts of actually doing her job goes flying out the window. It does end with a happy ever after but by the time we got there I was aggravated and I didn't even care.

I don't know. This book was so fairy tale that I couldn't get swept away by it.
You gotta love a hot british rock star. Jax had me from the beginning.
Alexa is cool too. She's real, down to earth and intelligent.
I guess the love happened too fast for me.
I wish that there was more of a reason explained as to why he chose her to be is biographer.
Maybe they had a past she forgot or didn't know about, or maybe he's loved her from afar for so long....ANYTHING! Why the hell does this larger than life rock god choose her of all people?!?!

I just don't know. The love scenes are super steamy though! Baird is definitley a descriptive writer. Unfortunately, there were a lot of typos which made the reading choppy. Overall though, if you are looking for a fairy tale romance, this is it!

I’m going to try and review this book. Try being the word here. I really don’t even know what to say. Wow…I’m speechless and not in a good way. This book gave me whiplash…seriously. I wasn’t happy with the way the book was written. I’m sorry but this book just didn’t do it for me. I feel like I wasted my time when I could have been reading something else. I hate to say that I hate to give negative reviews but that’s just the way I feel. I’m gonna give it 1 star simply because I know the author put a lot of work into it.

That's literally all I can say about it.

Agh I don't even know where to start. It pulled me in and then bam nothing. I'm really kinda confused about my feelings for this book. It started off good and then dipped a little but came back up and then finally just flat lined. I feel like maybe it just left me unfinished or the book was unfinished. I suppose I wanted more and things just seemed so easy. There was no huge fallout about the Mary thing and the band was always just like yeah whatever even though they hated it. More depth and a better ending then maybe it will or maybe it won't. I need closure.

This book had a lot of potential. The blurb caught my attention immediately so yesterday I cut time out to read it. Why Why Why!!! The first few chapters were catchy. Then Alexa got on the plane with Jackson turned into a groupy didn't do her job blah blah blah..... It turned bad. The concept of the book was good the execution however needed a little work and a bit more character expansion would have been good. Not the worst but not the best book I read either. Sorry I don't know if I recommend this book. I guess I'm warning do read but at your own risk.

The starting Got me interested but not for long. I am not a fan for people who Fall hard in love before 1/2 way through the book.
Alex was so desperate for Jackson and that made her really pathetic.
I've read quite a few rockstars books and they are usually strong in their characters and know what they want. Jackson started off like one but as i read on, i could had punched him for being such a wussy. YES!! WUSSY! Letting Mary lead him by the nose.

Typical rock star/journalist story. It was predictable and fast pasted as usual. It was good and a quick read.

Jackson was adorable and has a good heart, and Alexa is the typical 24 year old naive, strong willed girl.

This book had so much potential for angst and heart break and yet, it all too quick to solve the "issue" without really ever dealing with Jackson's background.

while I liked the book, I feel there was just so much not said in this book.

I really enjoyed this book and was disappointed that it wasn't longer I thought it would have benefited from more depth I was hoping it would follow the whole tour. The band members and groupies were great and I would have liked more of them and the interesting relationships between them all. I was going to give this book 3 stars mainly due to the length but then I really enjoyed it and ultimately that's what it's all about so I settled on 4. Well worth a read.

One of the better books I've read lately.

Alexa acted like a normal person so her character was believable. I'm tired of the characters that people can't relate to.

The chemistry between Jackson and Alexa was there from the beginning.

I hope there are future books about the rest of the band. I'm eager to learn more about them.

I did like 'Beauty in the Breakdown' but felt it was missing some of the needed foundation. I feel that I didn't really get to know who Alexa and Jackson. We get to see how they are in the minute but not how they got there. It was still a good read but I just didn't get the connection or depth that I have from other books in this genre.

3 stars. Let me start by saying, I love the Cover of this Book. Now the inside was, hmmm, huh, yeah. Loved Jackson but was not feeling Alexa what so ever. The story was not there for me. I try not to compare books as so many I have with Rockstar topic, but this was...................yeah. I apologize to the other if I offended you.

I am a little disappointed. Jackson and Alexa definitely had potential. I was hoping to read more of their relationship. More of Alexa interviewing him. That is what the book was based on... Her traveling with him for an interview. Hopefully the author writes a 2nd book that has more to their story

We have spent 2 days together, with a big group of other people, not really even speaking to each other just giving each other looks filled with sexual tension - this can only mean one thing obviously, we are clearly in love!

WTF!!!! So sick of these stupid books with instant love crap. At least have a half decent story, this was bloody awful

I give it 3 1/2 stars it was ok but I think it would have been a lot better if it had been a longer book as it was it felt like it was rushed through the story, you got no indeph back story of any of the characters which is a damn shame because Natalie has a nice way of writing.

It was good and straight forward, no stalling in the story which I like, very much so. Loved Jackson's kind heart but Alexa's crying in every little situation. Nevertheless, it's a very satisfying read.

Not a bad book just a little fractured in places. The concept was for the main character to write an exposé on the rocker but the story left that part out completely. It would have been interesting to at least read part of that story

Nice, short little read; not entirely realistic but cute. I wish there had been more to it though. I'm just not one who can wrap my head around falling head over heels "I love you's" in two days. I need more substance than that.
