I hated this book. It made me feel bad. It made me angry. I had to put it away in a drawer for a couple of days before I could forse myself to even try to finnish it. I'm sorry, I don't often hate books and if someone else liked it; great, but I hated it.
(Mild and angry spoilers below)
I felt the book was fat shaming me. The main character is tall and thin and have at least three(!) men who like her and wants her. I have no idea what they see in her as I find her boring and a bit arrogant. She likes one of the men back (of course) but no, a relationship wouldn't be good for her children, but no, maybe it could work anyway, but no, here are more reasons to why they shouldn't be togeather, but no, maybe it will be fine anyway... Make up your mind!
Another character who (if I remember right) was quite beautiful once is now fat and plain and she gets sick with blisters which makes her ugly. Her husband (who is cheating on her) calls her and tells her how ugly she is and how he doesn't love her anymore. And then she dies. Yes, she dies. After being told by the man she loves how ugly and fat she is. And it's not treated like something bad. It like... "And now she's dead. Moving on..."
The book takes place in the town I live and though it should be quite fun to read and know all the places, it is not fun. Because the book is written as if there are only 10-15 people living here and everyone knows eachother. E V E R Y O N E ! I understand you want to have a lot of relationships between the characters to create drama, but this is just silly. And boring.
To top it all of, the main character has two children and I feel (not just in this book but in other books about her) that she is heavily favouring one of them. I'm sure some people have a favourite child, but don't make it so obvious! You're gonna give the other poor child problems for life!
I know use this book as scrapbooking material.
