"Road Kill" is a less than stellar read in the Zombie Games series. Books one and two were stellar; so, what happened here? Well, the storyline has started to become repetitive and tedious. Additionally, the author has added a new twist to the story that causes the plot to be convoluted.
After finally being safe in the comfort of the hotel, Nora decides to go to Minnesota to look for her father. Of course, she decides to take Cassie along for the ride. I wanted to scream: "Really? Here we go again!" How many times do the characters get to make dumb mistakes, get separated and the others have to go out looking for them?
While on the road, Cassie, Nora and Henry end up at a Church where nuns have gathered children and are taking care of them. Soon two creepy strange men appear and the sisters allow them to enter the sanctuary. They have a hidden agenda and the trio will be surprised to discover what it is.
Cassie's sister and her best friend decide to go out in search of Cassie which leads to Kris, Tiny and Paige going out as well.Do you see the trend and the problem? It is just plain annoying! Of course this isn't the end of all of the silliness. Soon the zombies are under the control of a minion of Satan. The group rallies together to what?.............only be separated again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough already.
Book 5 is to be the last book in the series and at this point I will admit that I am curious but a part of me says to cut my losses and move on. I will see how I feel in a month or two before I make my decision.
4th in series. Am glad I read it but I have to say I was disappointed overall. The plot went in a paranormal direction that none of the 1st 3 contained. It was, as book 3, written partly in 1st person POV and partly not -- book 1 was simply 1st person POV. That bugged the crap outta me (the change in POV's). Chose one and stick with it...IMHO. And the paranormal twist...kinda was like the author ran out of ideas for the series. ? Editing has been worse and worse with each installment. Commas are grossly misused...which also bugged the crap out of me. Some names are misspelled. Typos. I know few books are edited perfectly, my own included, but there are so many errors that it reeks of NO EDITING...or extremely lazy editing. The characters seemed really shallow in this one as well.
I'm hoping the next is better. Not sure yet if I will read it.
Oh lord! The cliffhangers Kristen Middleton has are enough to drive me bonkers! The continuation of the series picks up right where book three left off. I am still amazed at how awesome these books....all of her books really....are! Even if you aren't one of those zombie loving people, you will not be disappointed in the Zombie Games series. I love how Cassie just kicks but all over the place, and cannot wait to see how she save the day now! The ending was sooo crazy, did not expect that at all! Keep it up....and I'm still waiting for the Enchanted Secrets sequel, lol. Hint, hint! 50 stars as always for Kristen Middleton! Her books rock!
im not at all happy with this book. the first three were great, some of the best books i've read this wasn't it. The introduction of new characters was ok but then the book was going in a totally different direction. it was hard for me to make it through this book I dont think I will be reading the next.
This installment is the weakest in this series. A big disappointment after such a stellar beginning. I will read the next book as it is supposed to finish the series. However, if the plot had gone in this direction earlier I would not have continued with the story.
I received a promo code for this audiobook and this is my voluntary review. This is book 4 of the Zombie Games series... I have struggled my way listening to the first three books and now find I cannot continue anymore. Book 3 changed the style from Cassie Wilds POV to following other characters periodically in 3rd person. Good characters GROW. They make mistakes, they learn and not everyone thinks they are perfect. Honestly the only way someone could have this amount of luck would be if the Greek Gods themselves were playing chess against Zeus. Perhaps in ebook the story would work better but I would advise getting this re-recorded by Belle Avery since the new Narrator talks far too quickly and slowing Alexa down to 0.75 makes it sound slurred. Those issues of course do not change the eye-roll plot line and stupid character decisions of our plot armored Mary Sue. Abandoning her ALIVE sister to go hunting down her MAYBE ALIVE grandparents... surely her father would have done that in book 2 before they left to go to Atlanta??? Being smart doesnt seem to matter in the Wild family... like leaving Atlanta when your parents died helping you and your fellow immune sister escape from the CDC for instance?? Nope.. best to go hooking up with Zombie avoiding Nuns in their creepy orphanage and get mixed up with becoming pregnant with Messiahs and fighting demons. The supernatural turn to this story was stupid. I would avoid and use my credits elsewhere.
Unfortunately this is the last in the series I will be reading, I am unsure why in this, the 4th installment, demons, Satan, god etc were introduced.
Was this done by the author in order to get a 5 book series and not a 3 book series? I don't know, I hope not, but that is what it feels like. This book is repetitive both with regards to the previous books and with itself.
What was a pretty good, if repetitive, zombie series has now changed into a paranormal/demonology book and is not what I wanted to read. The zombies are now no longer really zombies but 'satans army' and as such can and are controlled by the 'demons/possessed'
I am not against paranormal/demon books, but if I want to read them I will choose a series about them, not a series about zombies that then rewrites itself into a demon book.
Book four did not have the confusing startike 3 did, which was nice. Later in the book, there is an angel/demon, heaven/hell thing introduced that really threw me off and left me asking why? I was reading this series for zombies, not angels and demons. Don't get me wrong, I love left behind and stuff but that wasn't why I started this series. As the book went on, I got more used to it and it grew on me. There were some great omg moments and the ending was excellent and had me yelling "I knew it!"
Well, that was a twist I wasn’t expecting. Not a bad twist, but a twist the same. I’m enjoying this ride Kristen is bringing us on. I know a lot of people were disappointed with this turn of events, but I’m not. The Apocalypse and God sort of go hand in hand, when you think about it. I’d already started book 5 when I realized I needed to review book 4. If you know me, that’s a big deal. I normally change from genre to genre, and never loop my way through a series! Nice work Kristen. Onto book 5.
Wow, this book really ramped up the drama, taking a dark and sinister twist! Adding the End of days theme to the story was inspired, and has me on the edge of my seat in anticipation for the next book. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
I read the entire series before writing my review and it is WILD! The final scenes are nothing like your average zombie apocalypse story. So, be prepared for a huge surprise!
First off, I give "Road Kill" three stars because there are a significant number of grammatical errors in the Kindle Edition. Shame on whoever edited this book because the errors are really obvious. And for the love of William Shakespeare, please learn the difference between THEN and THAN! Also need to point out, when referring to God, it's "Him" not "him". Enough of that.
This installment of Zombie Games frustrated the hell out of me. For these folks to be survivors, they are reckless, complacent and in the case of Kristie and her girls, downright silly and annoying. It was really hard for me to root for anyone in this one. Too many stupid choices made by Cassie. Too much of Kristie and her girls. (I'm really having a difficult liking them.) It seems like they're sole focus in life seems to the opposite sex. In the face of survival, they take it to an absolutely ridiculous level.
I also found it hard to believe that Kristie could be so protective about Paige getting hurt or something bad happening to her; But yet, she had no problem letting Billie, the almost zombie, take a bottle to the baby UNSUPERVISED! This is the same Billie that had to be restrained. Really?
Nobody suspected even once that he recovered too quickly? Nobody thought he could have been a vessel for Travis?
HELLO! Have these people seen SUPERNATURAL?!

ok so cassie is still not giving up, she will rick everthing to get back with her family. ok in book four of ''The Zombie Games'', cassie runs in bigger trouble trying to find her dad, mother, and sister. she make snew freinds but some kind strangers ack like they are friendly but thier not, they alway turn thier backes on them. On this book their were some prisoners from jail, one of them was possessed by a demon. Ok lets go to Bryce he well he is going crazy a little but that doesnt stop him trying to find cassie.
This book is made me good like the lesseon was in dark times like in this book theres really know one you can trust but tour family. I trust my family, and god they help me when i need it, but sometimes I wonder if god will do this to us. like he will make the dead rise and the living fall so we can start. But I think it really means is that god is going through a war with the Devil i really don't like to say that word. Ok if you want to get the book get it its really good.
I have to agree with some of you! Come on stop splitting them up if there is going to be a war let them all prepare. OK my grammar the use of isn't always that great but there were time I had to re-read paragraphs and say huh until I understood. just a bit annoying most of the time my brain just sticks in the missing world. lol
Also the story just took such a different turn after book 2. Why did some not get infected when they were bitten, what happened to the scientist looking for the cure? Whats up with Kallie she has prophecies now, I was like huh what's that all about.
I read the last book because I want to find out how it ends though I just hope we get back to the style of book 1 and 2.
Incredible 4th book of the series! These books are so addicting. The 4th, once again, left off with a cliff hanger and I have to wait until the end of Summer for the 5th one to be released!!?? Why Kristen, why?? Seriously though, if you're looking for a fun, fast-paced, awesome Zombie series with TONS of action, this series is for you! Congrats on such a wonderful series Kristen! I'm a fan for life!! :-)
I love these books, I read four of them in one day and I'm a slow reader. Action, romance, zombies, gore, humor and a secret monster, this is fantastic for teens and older. I'm so glad the first book was free and the rest on Unlimited or I never would have found this wonderful series.
I didn't like the turn the book took at all. Yes a change was needed, but in that diretion? No, I didn't think it fit the story at all. Ok if we can have a zombie apocalypze, but that it was predicted by a bunch of sexist power hungry men in ancient times? No. I don't buy it.
I like the writing it is still consistent and amazing. I don't like where the story is going. I like the zombies and the characters and how everyone is working together. Cassie seems very naive and oblivious. I don't know what is going on and it seems very far fetched.
Well worth a read if you like Zombie, end of days type books. Follows a band of survivors as they try to make sense of the world. Just as you think all is well a very big spanner is thrown into the works. Read all 5 back to back for a zombie ride to hell!!!
I don't be mixing my books zombies ok, but zombies, demons, n the devil is a bit much. interested in part 5 but pls pls pls. Henry help me out man. lol
