Patrick is gorgeous, gay, and a corporate lawyer. He also wants to stay firmly in the closet. When he goes to a new club in search of a one-night stand, he is picked up by Liam.
Liam is big, beautiful, and also a Dom. A hot and heavy night ensues leaving them both thinking there could be more to their relationship than just sex.
But Liam is out and proud gay, and he finds it insulting to not accept who you are. Patrick disagrees...and major problems occur.
This is the first book I have read by this author and was not disappointed. I fell in love with the characters, the story is real and the depth of the emotion reached out to me. MM romance very hot and sexy. A must read by this talented author.
'Truth be Told' is the story of Patrick, a lawyer who desperately wants love but cannot find his way out of the closet, and Liam, the owner of a gay club who has been out for years and has trouble dealing with Patrick's reluctance and fear. Both men are attracted to each other, and fit really well together, but their views of the future, in terms of the openness about their relationship, are somewhat different.
Patrick has a lot of fear to overcome before he can truly be free. He just knows his family will react badly, but on the other hand, once he meets Liam and wants more, he realizes he cannot keep hiding. That final step is still very hard to take, and he is only really jolted into it once Liam gives up and leaves him. Luckily, his parents start working toward a new understanding once Patrick gives them no choice, and the only thing that remains, is for Patrick to win back Liam. Not as easy as it sounds…
Liam knows what he wants, both in bed and out, He slowly introduces Patrick to the joys of bottoming, but never pushes too hard. He is versatile enough to let Patrick take the lead on occasion, and I think that is part of why Patrick finds it pretty easy to explore his more submissive side in the beginning. Later on, Liam's masterful dominance and lead are all Patrick needs to convince him. The one thing Liam cannot make easier for Patrick is how to deal with the man's family. He has to step back to make clear how serious he is about wanting everyone to know about them being a couple, and it truly hurts him to do it. But he sees no other choice, so he bites the bullet.
If you like stories about men finding love but encountering a few self-made hurdles along the way, if you enjoy reading about the process of coming out to a family who is less than enthusiastic about "suddenly" realizing one of them is gay, and if you're looking for a read that is spicy on top of all of that, the you will probably like this short story.

Living in the closet adds stress for the corporate lawyer, Patrick. The past ten years he's been avoiding every woman his family pushes him towards. He yearns to be with a man and he finally finds his match at a bar. Liam is happily out and running a gay nightclub. Their hook up morphs into several months of sexual bliss.
The conflict in this story is altogether too realistic for many men who find themselves trapped by societal views on homosexuality. Ms. Baker does a good job of showing how those who have to hide their personal life or try to keep it separate only end up hurting their loved one. A lot of it has to do with the current trend of vomiting all personal details for every Dick, Tom and Harry to hear - whether they want to or not. The resolution of this conflict is too easy and a bit unrealistic. If only every obstacle is so easy to overcome.
The characters in this story are uncomplicated. They are easy to understand even if their personality are so similar at times it's hard to remember which character was which. Yes, Patrick is the closeted gay guy afraid of revealing to his parents and Liam is secret boyfriend. Other than this, there wasn't really much difference between the two. They enjoyed the same foods and restaurants. Very little is shared about their past.
The kink shows up in the last part of the book. It's barely in the story which is why this is categorized as SugarKink. A little restraint and a bit of ass slapping glossed over is about all the reader receives. Still, the m/m sex is sweet and arousing. This m/m story is recommended to those who love a happily ever after.
I enjoyed this story about Patrick and Liam. It felt very real and there were times that I wanted to shake Patrick for being scared. A short story so things move very quickly with months being glossed over but overall was satisfactory with a HEA ending.
The writing style is decent, but the story didn't flow smoothly. Additionally, something that drove me nuts was the ignorant views of the MCs. What it means to be "straight" or "gay" was arranged in inaccurate little boxes separating the two (which is a problem in it's own right). Apparently "straight" equals dull and boring while "gay" means colorful and bright in all aspects of life. That in itself is ironic and hypocritical since . Another annoyance was how it was made to sound as though "married with kids" is the only way to live a good life. True enough for some folks, but there is also more out there...
Generally, I try to go easy on book reviews, but this one had me cringing and gritting my teeth by the end. Honestly, I found it insulting to both the LGBTQ+ AND straight communities. The only reasons I'm not giving one star are because there were a few clever moments and lines throughout the book and because the writing itself wasn't an error-filled, unproofread dumpster fire.

This was such a powerful book, I think. Tamsin Baker just drew me right in and it refused to let me go.
Patrick has known he's gay for years, but in order to keep his parents happy and not disappoint anyone in his life, he's kept himself deep, deep in the closet. He would occasionally go to a club where he could meet another guy so that they could have a quick and anonymous encounter, but he's had no relationships and he's kind of just accepted that that's the way his life is going to be, lonely and miserable. That is until he walks into Liam's club.
Liam is out and proud. He doesn't want to hide in the closet. He wants to live his truth and be his authentic self. He and his uncle own a gay club and the night he sees Patrick standing there looking all gorgeous, he knows that he has to have him.
Patrick nearly broke my heart at times. Life is hard enough at the best of times and then to have to hide who you are and live in fear of your family abandoning you because you don't meet their expectations is even worse. I can't imagine having to live my entire life so miserable, either with no relationship or shoved into a relationship that doesn't do a thing for me just to make other people in my life happy. I think that Liam and Patrick together are just so beautiful.
Patrick is a lawyer and Liam co-owns a bar with his uncle. Liam and Patrick just so happens to meet at this very same bar. Patrick just so happens to be in the closet, to Liam’s displeasure. So after they spend the night together they go out for breakfast and they run into Patrick’s sister. After said day after breakfast Patrick walks Liam to his car where they both decided they wanted to see each other again. Liam explains to Patrick that he cant go out in public with him and watch him flinch away from him again in a public setting. Liam does however, decide to give them a chance an Patrick explains he just needs time. A truly great read.

You're going to need a cold glass of water and a fan while reading this super steamy M/M romance! This book starts you off right away with an explosive connection between Patrick and Liam. While their lust for each other is off the charts, both want more and see the potential there. There's just one problem - Patrick is still in the closet. Despite this fact, a strong relationship develops between the men. Things are great until Liam reaches the end of his rope with Patrick's denial of his true self and a few careless words shatter their illusion. Patrick must face the problem head on, finding support and acceptance in some unexpected places, and go after what he wants in order for them both to get their HEA.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it was my first time reading this author but I enjoyed the story line and the characters. How sad it is that it is so hard to admit who you really are because of fear. Liam was an absolute doll, and Patrick was to but in different ways, they really where such a treat together. This is a very hard hitting book with heartfelt issue's and pain, but brilliantly written. The journey is long but not to winded which is good but so much happens along the way. Truly enjoyable book definitely recommend, get it now.

Liam is out and proud, he and his uncle own a gay night club. Patrick is a in the closet deep lawyer. They meet at Liam's club, and start to date. Patrick's being in the closet is a problem but Liam promises he'll give him time. Can Patrick come out to his family or will he deny Liam onemail to many times? Read how difficult it is to be yourself for alot of gay men, how hard it is to deny who you are to keep the love and acceptance of your family. How this issue is still out there and needs to be changed.

Although not ground-breaking, this is an enjoyable story of two men finding their way through the complexities of love when one of them is "out and proud" and the other has not told any of his friends, family, or co-workers that he is gay. Liam and Patrick are both sweet characters, and it was heart-breaking to see the reaction of Patrick's parents when he had tried so hard to make them proud. Sometimes it's the ones we love most who hurt us the most. It was inspiring to watch Patrick take control of his life and overcome his fear in order to be who he was meant to be.

Patrick and Liam have an instant attraction and hot chemistry and the sexual scenes will burn up your kindle. They're perfect for each other. Problem : Patrick is still in the closet and Liam is out and proud. The author does a great job bringing out the emotions and telling the story in the dual POV , giving both men's thoughts and feelings throughout. I enjoyed reading their story and loved the ending.

A beautiful and touching love story I absolutely loved this book. The way that both Patrick and Liam were with each other was spellbinding. The way that Patrick had to hide who he was for ten long years made my heart ache for him. And the way that his deceit devestated Liam broke my heart. What a brilliantly written and totally heartfelt story. The emotions conveyed truly felt real. I glad that my loved one didn't have such agony over how or if to tell me about his sexuality.
This is a great story. I was hesitant at first, given the main characters were both men, but as with all her other books, the story-telling is wonderful. Liam and Patrick are both really interesting and loveable. I loved Milly. Maybe she will get her own story? There is interesting insight into how it must feel for some gays/lesbians to come out and be nervous around their friends and family. Well done!

Truth Be Told by Tamsin Baker is a contemporary, M/M romance. Patrick is a corporate lawyer and he wants to stay firmly in the closet Liam is out and proud gay, and he finds it insulting to not accept who you are. Patrick disagrees and major problems occur when a hot and heavy night leaves them both thinking there could be more than just a hook-up. A beautiful, steamy, well-written romance. Wow, this is a beautiful story of love and passion, but also fear of being turned away by family, hated by some. Learning if love is strong enough to overcome these fears. The other side of the coin is can you love someone when they hide what you feel for each other from family, friends; how can you trust that his love is real and will be there for you when he won't even acknowledge your relationship. It is a moving story of what true love is.
Loved the story about Liam and Patrick. The story described a lot of the trials that Patrick, a gay man endures because he is afraid to admit to the world that he is gay. It gets even harder when he meets and falls for Liam who is openly gay. The book is a great read, well written and because of this I would highly recommend this book. The cover is fantastic.

I loved reading this story about two gay guys. I am so glad to see that not every story that is written is about a male and a female. This story is a wonderful read I fell in love with the strong characterrs and the well written story.

When someone fall in love but can't come out of the closet because of the taboo about and in a family who want you to be someone else. That's the story about Patrick falling for Liam who act like himself but understand what or how Patrick feels.

No huge surprises, a lot of worrying about something that wasn’t an issue, a big hiccup that quickly gets fixed. A lot of sex, well they are new, and the word ‘lover’ appears 99 times!
This was such a cute and heartfelt story. As a short, it was so well developed and well rounded. And it was packed with heat. This is one if the hottest mm I've read.
