Raine #2

This Trust of Mine

Rate this book
"Love cannot be defined by age or time, but by the way that person makes you feel. He made me feel completely vulnerable, but vulnerability I have learned is a gift, one that I will gladly accept from Madison Raine."

Kayla
Madison had irrevocably changed me. He opened me up to feel things I had never felt, and he never judged me for my past. In the short amount of time I had known him, I had fallen in love with him and everything he encompassed. He showed me how to live, how to enjoy life, but best of all, he showed me how to love. They say bad things happen to good people, well that saying rang truer to me now than ever before. Madison is gone. He is off at school in Arizona, and I just couldn't bring myself to leave with him. That was my first mistake.
See the thing about trouble is, it will always find you. Trouble found me the night he left, and that night forever changed me. Now I am fighting my way back, alone.

Madison
Leaving Kayla was one of the hardest things I had ever had to do. To say I regret my decision to leave her behind, would be an understatement. My world shifted when I met her and I would forever be changed. Everything felt different now that I was away, everything with her at least. Something was wrong, I could feel it. I needed to go to her to find out what this feeling was, but would she trust me enough to tell me, and could I trust her to forgive me.

"When life, love and heart breaking circumstances stand to pull apart a bond so strong, what do you do without trust?"

So this bookie wasn't all hearts and flowers, well technically neither was the first one, BUT the first one had some many good times. This bookie Kayla and Madison face new problems such as jealousy on BOTH parts, but mainly on Madison's side, "do I? Why? Why should I believe you? I mean, it's not like I have anything to go off of. You don't call, you don't write, hell you don't even send text messages. What the hell, Kayla?" There is always that one person a girl can always count on and that is your bff, and Cami she's a damn firecracker, "you dirty little wh***. He has a effing girlfriend. How dare you. I don't know how they do things around here, but that usually means back the eff off. I swear if I ever see you around again, I will eff you up. You stupid a** sk***." Madison still has my heart when he's not being an a**, "I transferred schools." He cradled my face in his hands, holding my gaze. "My world is incomplete without you, Kayla. I can't be without you. I don't even know why I tried. I had to be with you, here in Texas." Both Kayla and Madison have to overcome obstacles and that puts a strain/ or test on their relationship. The cliffhanger was NOT as brutal as the first one but it was still a cliffhanger.

So this was book 2 in the Raine series.....I will just say that this wasn't my favorite. I have to be honest....I was going to give this book a 2.5 star rating but the last 30% saved it and bumped it to 3 stars. I don't mind a book with some drama in it but this book was just chocked full of it. After reading book 1 I was hoping to get a book with a great love story in it in book 2.....hearts and flowers with a little drama, but that is not what we get. Madison and Kayla don't even communicate for a lot of the book. Towards the beginning of the book Madison makes a mistake and when Kayla finally learns about it I thought her reaction to it was blown out if proportion... Kayla' s attitude throughout most of the book really annoyed me, but together these two need a smack to the head. It drove me crazy that every time these two had a problem their solution was to start over as friends...instead of working it out together. Also neither one of them would open up about how they both truly felt about each other. I will say that some of the times I thought Kayla acted older then she really was but then she would say or do something and it would remind me of her age and naitivity. The good thing about these two was when they finally told each other their real feelings....they were really great together. I just wish it would've happened sooner in the book.

With all that said I am still glad I read the book and will most likely read the third book to see what happens with Madison and Kayla.

And YES this book also ended with a cliffhanger :(

Oh the drama!!! I was so excited to get my hands on This Trust of Mine after that ending in the first book. I don’t think I loved this book as much as This Love of Mine. I still really liked it but all the drama between Madison and Kayla had me so frustrated. I guess I was wanting more hearts and flowers then what I got. Don’t get me wrong I will still be one of the first to read This Heart of Mine. I have to find out what will happen to Madison and Kayla.

This Trust of Mine is the sequel to Amanda Bennett’s This Love of Mine. There were many readers who complained about the pacing of the first book and Amanda listened.

To say that I loved This Trust of Mine was an understatement. Kayla and Madison’s story continues a month after his departure for Baseball camp in Arizona – a month after Kayla is forced to deal with something no young girl should ever have to.

Madison realises he’s made a giant mistake leaving Kayla behind in Texas and decides it’s to head home, not only for his family, but to also fight for the girl he loves more than life itself. It doesn’t take much for Kayla to jump back into his arms but when it comes to trusting him it takes a little more effort. Her fear of being rejected by Madison after he learns what Wren did to her is overwhelming.
Madison fights for Kayla, even after he learns what she endured the night he left and promises to never leave her again – only this time its Kayla’s turn to prove her love for Madison when his entire world falls apart. They’re young, and hopelessly in love, but their relationship is tested from the moment they’ve met.

Both Kayla and Madison have grown and Amanda definitely got the pacing right the second time round. Each character has had to face their own challenges and while they’ve managed to get through it alone, they prove how much stronger they are together.

Naturally, there’s a cliffhanger, since there’s a third and final book the Raine series, but it’s nothing the cliffhanger at the end of the first book  I can’t wait to see how Kayla and Madison’s crazy love story ends – rumour has it Amanda is pulling out all the stops for their final book ;)

4.5 Star Review

This Trust of Mine is an incredible read filled with raw emotions and an amazing storyline. Amanda Bennett takes us on the journey of a girl trying to forget her past and open her heart to the present and a boy who is trying to win back the girl he walked away from.

“Be mine, forever, for today, for however long you want me. Please just say you’ll be with me.”

Kayla is struggling to deal with the pain of what happened to her one month ago. With Madison being away at college she feels alone and scared. So instead of telling Madison what happened that horrible night she keeps it in and pushes him away.

“My world is incomplete without you, Kayla. I can’t be without you. I don’t even know why I tried.”

Madison left his family and the one girl he could actually see a future with to follow his dream of
playing college baseball. The distance was hard enough, but something just didn’t feel right and Kayla was not acting the same. Madison was left wondering if his dream of playing baseball was worth being away from the one girl he loved.

“I need you like I need air to breath. Without you, I feel incomplete.”

Madison and Kayla have to be one of my favorite book couples. It is almost like there is a magnetic pull between the two of them that cannot be ignored. Even when they face all the twist and turns life throws at them the attraction and chemistry is undeniable.

This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. Just when you think you can’t handle anymore angst the book ends….with a cliffhanger!

I loved this story. I loved this couple. I loved it all. I cannot wait for This Heart of Mine to come out in July. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

~~~~~~~~Ena's 3.75 Star Review~~~~~~~~~~
Okay I want to first off and say that I <3 Amanda Bennett! I was hoping that I could give this a 4 or 5 star rating and it probably could have gotten a 4 star if I hadn't had a thought of what was going to happen.
This Trust of Mine starts off shortly after This Love of Mine stopped, although, in TTOM the time frame is over a period of months versus a few days as in TLOM. The story is developed at a great pace and is detailed so you know exactly what is going on.
I can tell you that Madison and Kayla both made me feel like this:
I couldn't get over how stupid both of them were acting, and due to the lack of communication between the two they both suffered.
Kayla experienced something that no person should ever have to experience and my heart was breaking for her because not only did she feel totally alone but she was terrified to tell her secret to the one boy who she loved more than life itself. She was afraid of being looked at differently or being pushed away. And I felt myself feeling compassion for her and wanting to take her and do this:
Madison is still a very sexy "cowboy" and he wants Kayla in his life forever. He will do whatever he has to, to get her to love him again and he will stop at nothing to earn her trust back. He will step back and just be her friend and wait for her. He is sweet, caring, charming, and all things swoon worthy! He can be very steamy too. I found myself at parts in this book feeling alittle bit like this:
Madison will deal with his own problems in TTOM, he will need Kayla more than ever. His heart will break and he will need her to pick him up and help him with his grief. My heart broke for him also and I was hoping that those two could finally open up the forms of communication and stop dancing around the issue and just talk, get it all out there in the open and let each other know exactly what they were feeling and what they wanted. So by the time the end of the book wrapped up and they finally decided to go after what they wanted I was feeling like this:
I wish there was just a bit more angst in this book! But for what Amanda was going for with just a simple good sweet love story I think she did an excellent job. Kayla and Madison will have their ups and downs but is their love is strong enough and can they learn to trust each other completely so they can be together?
But what would a good love story series be if there wasn't a bit of a whopper at the end right? Yep Amanda gives us that too and I was like:
So if you read This Love of Mine than YES you HAVE TO read This Trust of Mine and YES there will be another book in the series that Amanda is working on right now. Great job Amanda - can't wait to read Book 3 in the series!
“Be mine, forever, for today, for however long you want me. Please just say you’ll be with me.”
This Trust Of Mine starts just after we left Kayla and Madison in This Love Of Mine. The aftermath of Madison leaving for college to get started on his baseball practice and Kayla reeling from the incident with Wren. We see the highs and lows of their lives and how they are dealing with what’s happened and also with what is yet to transpire. There is an introduction of new man on the block (chopping block if Madison has any say in the matter). He becomes part of Kayla’s life much to the annoyance of Madison and stirs up a lot of jealousy. Will he be the one to comfort Kayla and show her what it is to trust again?
This Trust of Mine is a fast paced storyline that encompasses a lot of different emotions for many of the characters involved; lust, despair, regret, hope, love, sadness and panic. Some of them were dealt with very well and others especially the fallout of the “Wren Incident” I felt were a bit rushed through.
This time round I wanted to shake both Madison and Kayla and make them realise how silly they were being; both of them jealous at stages, with no real need to be. I mean their lack of communication caused more issues between them than necessary. I wanted them to open up and say exactly what they were feeling not what they thought the other wanted to hear. It would have saved them a lot.
As much as we saw them grow as characters in This Love Of Mine, we can see them regressing into their old ways of dealing with the issues in their lives; they push everyone away. It takes major events for them to realise what they really want and even then, their first instinct when the unexpected happens is to shut down. I hope they finally learn to move forward and stop retreating into themselves.
I liked that we got to see more of the grandparents in this instalment. I liked their interactions with both Kayla and Madison, especially the way that Kayla and Madison’s grandmother can get along. As well as that things with Cami and Glenn progress and it was nice to get a bit more insight to Glenn.
Let me just say….. CLIFFHANGER ENDING!!! My jaw was on the floor. I wanted there to be another chapter to see what happens, but we'll just have to wait and see! This Heart Of Mine is going to be one hell of a finale to this lovely series, with some bombshells to boot!
Overall I enjoyed This Trust Of Mine but I felt there were times when it moved too quickly, especially through an important and sensitive issue, hastily sweeping it under the rug. The love between the characters, be it love of a friend, or family member or lover, shines bright through this story.
"I need you like I need air to breath. Without you, I feel incomplete."
This Trust Of Mine gets 3.75-4 Stars.
This second book in the "Raine Series" is a continuation from the first, "This Love of Mine." So if you haven't read that one yet, I highly suggest that you do because you won't have the whole picture of this story without reading it and this is our favorite series by Amanda Bennett! 4.5 stars.
I fell in love with Madison Raine in the first book and I find myself loving him more with each page that I read of this one. He's sexy as hell, has a big & loving heart & loves Kayla more than he thought he could. He's away at college now, in another state, on a baseball scholarship, but it's tearing him apart being so far away from Kayla. He's trying very hard to stay focused on baseball training before school starts, but he can't because Kayla isn't responding to his texts or answering his phone calls. They agreed to talk to each other when he headed out and this silence is driving him crazy.
Kayla has just been through what no woman wants to ever experience and she has put these walls up. She just can't share what has happened with Madison. She feels that if she tells him, he won't ever look at her the same way ever again. Kayla has been through more pain and heartache in the last few months and with Madison being away at school now, she's feeling the loss of his presence in her daily life deeply. Will her and Madison ever be able to have what they had started??
I loved the way this story showed me that when you feel that deep connection/love with someone, no matter how long you've known them, and for Madison and Kayla it's a short time, that you can survive just about anything that life may throw your way.
The grandparents of these two young people are their foundations in life. And I felt the love and devotion that they have for their grandchildren. I think this helped develop Madison and Kayla into the strong, caring, admirable people they become. The other secondary characters, Cami (Kayla's best friend), Glenn (Madison's best friend) and Joey (Glenn's younger brother) are like the sprinkles on an ice cream cone for me. Without them and the grandparents, I think this book would have been a good one, but with them in it, it definitely made it even sweeter.
There's definitely some struggles, healing, tough times and new roads traveled that are experienced in this well written, sweet story of young love. But with a love as strong as Madison and Kayla have, I was sure they would get through anything together. This story flowed perfectly and Amanda Bennett sure knows how to make me catch my breath at the end. I know I gasped because my husband said, "what's the matter?" My response to him was "nothing." He just wouldn't understand. LOL
So....Amanda Bennett...please pick me back up off the floor soon. July can't get her fast enough for me. I'm beginning to wish my life away. The Raine Series is a must read!!!!!
Rating – 3.75
Cover – 4
Character Development - 3.75
Steam Factor – 3.5 (skirts the line YA/NA because Kayla is 17)
Ending – Big Fat Cliffhanger!! (1 more book in the series I think)
This Trust is Mine started off about a month after This Love of Mine ended. Kayla had went through something horrific that no girl should ever have to deal with. She was broken, confused, scared and lonely. She was trying to deal with the aftermath of everything happening while putting on a front for her friends and family that everything was ok.
Madison was at his new school trying to start a new chapter in his life that was full of athletic demands but nothing could get Kayla out of his mind. He knew something was wrong and was struggling because he didn't know what it was or how to fix it from where he was at.
My emotions where all over the place while reading this book. For most of the book I was like this
and this
because of all the back and forth between Kayla and Madison. I wanted to strangle them both at different points in the book. They had so much love for each other but just couldn't admit how they felt. It was a constant roller-coaster of emotions but you just had to sit back and enjoy the ride because in the end it was worth all the ups and downs.
But no matter how bumpy the ride was in the end Kayla and Madison was both there for each other when they need it the most. That is what love is all about. No matter your trial and tribulations you help each other through it. That is exactly what Kayla and Madison did which finally led them to admit their true feelings.
You would think that would be the end of the story but NOOOO Amanda just had to leave us hanging with a big'ol fat juice cliffhanger..lol So the story between Kayla and Madison isn't over yet and I got a feeling we are going to need some Dramamine for the roller-coaster ride that Amanda still has in store for us..lol
I really think I have to take a few deep breaths! 1….2…3… Ok, I think I’m ready. I sat down to read This Trust of Mine about 11pm or so… I finished like by 1am. Then I thought to myself, I’ll write my review tomorrow… NOT LIKELY! I couldn’t turn my brain off! It was a freakin’ rollercoaster ride and I loved it! I am almost at a loss for words.
If you haven’t read This Love of Mine (Raine #1,) you need to start there. Kayla and Madison have a relationship that has been tested, but in my opinion is meant to be. Madison’s makes choices that effect both of them. He leaves to follow his dreams when Kayla needs him the most.
Throughout this entire book, you learn about Madison and Kayla. What makes their hearts beat, hearts break, and how important family/relationships are to them. Not to mention you are totally left with a MAJOR cliffhanger at the end… but I had a hunch that was what was going to happen….I’m not spoil it for ya
In Raine #2, We learn a lot about both sides of Grandparents. I will say that currently, I am in the situation that Madison is faced (which I will not give away either.) I think that is the main reason I couldn’t stop thinking about this book last night. It was very real for me, and I know will be real for others. You will be able to put yourself in his shoes… cry, remember who you love, make you think twice about how you spend your time with other, and how to put others first.
Kayla continues to be the strong willed young lady that she was in Raine #1. Madison is still the hot, sexy, baseball player, with a country accent, killer voice, and loves Madison through and through.
If you haven’t met Kayla & Madison, you are totally missing out on a one of a kind love. This story will have you begging for more, praying for every character, feeling like you are going to suffocate from all the pain, love, friendships, mourning, and the fact that you will hold your breath because you have to know what is going to happen next.
Since it’s over a month till July, I better not hold me breath but I can PROMISE you, I’m going to be first in line to have it in my hand, and finding out the destiny of Kayla and Madison! So if you <3 a little thing called love in the form of a rollercoster… the Raine Series is for you!
Amanda Bennett, you never cease to amaze me! I am always waiting ever so unpatiently for your next book… you truly are an amazing author with an amazing <3!~
I rated This Trust of Mine 3.5 leaves! This Trust of Mine picks up one month after This Love of Mine ended. I absolutely think this series is great, and I recommend it to everyone! Amanda Bennett is a fantastic writer. She traps you in a story that makes you feel like you are right there living the moment with the characters.
There were a couple of things that made me want to pull my hair out. The first is how Madison and Kayla did not communicate! I don't know how many times I've told my friends (and myself), communication is key! You have to have this to have a strong relationship! I also had to remind myself that Madison and Kayla are still very young. I am looking forward to reading how Amanda develops these characters even more in the next book. I also loved how when they finally did communicate all was happy in the world between the two! The second issue I had with the story was when the reader learns about Kayla’s victimization. This type of experience is one that no one should ever have to go through. It was a huge deal, but it was never talked about. Once the event was brought to light, the issue was never discussed again. I know people deal with issues differently like I do, but still!
What I loved about Madison and Kayla was the pull between the characters; the feeling that they were meant to be. I think everyone has their one true love out in the world, and it goes to show that these two just might have true love. In This Trust of Mine, the characters depended on each other more than most stories. I felt terrible for Kayla. This girl has been through so much and is such a strong lady. My heart just breaks for her. Madison, Madison, Madison... you stole my heart yet again in this book! This leading man is a true charming cowboy. He would do anything for the love of his life, and he is just so darn sweet and caring! "When a man like Madison comes knockin' at your door, offerin' the world, you take it. No questions asked." YES! This just sums Madison up for me.
Seriously, Amanda? Another cliff hanger? ;-) I'm looking forward to the next book, which is expected to release in July!
I've always been a fan of Amanda Bennett ever since I read her Broken series. This is another one of those series that you can't help but fall in love with. The characters go through situations that everyday people go through and it doesn't make it seem like the characters are superheros who hardly ever have problems or have problems that are so out there it's impossible for anyone to have gone through them.
Madison and Kayla are a couple that have problems every couple could go through. One goes off to college in another state leaving the other behind to deal with their problems on their own. They both think that it's best for the one in college because they're living their dreams. Until the point in time comes that they can't be away from each other again.
Every relationship has it's ups and downs. Kayla and Madison both manage to get through the ups and downs so that they end up together. Kayla doesn't have to deal with what happened to her the night after Madison left alone and Madison tells her the mistake he made after not having talked to her for over a month.
When Madison comes back home, he works on earning Kayla's trust back. He does everything he possibly can so that he can prove to her that he loves her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. He picks her up and takes her to school then picks her up and takes her home after they spend some time together.
When tragedy hit the Raine family, Kayla is right there to help Madison through it just as he helped her through what she had to deal with not a few weeks back. They both become each others life raft as they work through it.
When Madison's world crashes down, Kayla swears that she'll be right there with him to help him pick up the pieces. But is her world about to crash down as well?
I honestly can't wait till the third book comes out because Amanda Bennett left it at a cliffhanger. So many things could change Madison and Kayla's life but will it be for better or for worse?
This Trust of Mine is an incredible read filled with raw emotions and an amazing storyline. Amanda Bennett takes us on the journey of a girl trying to forget her past and open her heart to the present and a boy who is trying to win back the girl he walked away from.
"Be mine, forever, for today, for however long you want me. Please just say you’ll be with me."
Kayla is struggling to deal with the pain of what happened to her one month ago. With Madison being away at college she feels alone and scared. So instead of telling Madison what happened that horrible night she keeps it in and pushes him away.
"My world is incomplete without you, Kayla. I can’t be without you. I don’t even know why I tried."
Madison left his family and the one girl he could actually see a future with to follow his dream of playing college baseball. The distance was hard enough, but something just didn’t feel right and Kayla was not acting the same. Madison was left wondering if his dream of playing baseball was worth being away from the one girl he loved.
Madison and Kayla have to be one of my favorite book couples. It is almost like there is a magnetic pull between the two of them that cannot be ignored. Even when they face all the twist and turns life throws at them the attraction and chemistry is undeniable.
This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. Just when you think you can’t handle anymore angst the book ends….with a cliffhanger!
I loved this story.  I loved this couple. I loved it all.  I cannot wait for This Heart of Mine to come out in July.  I would definitely recommend this book and series.
I loved the first one and Amanda left us with a cliffhanger that made me scream and then this. She just throws us the curve freakin ball even before the 3rd chapter and it hit me right in the stomach. I didn’t expect her to do that. I didn’t expect that thing in particular though I had ideas but not that. It broke my heart. Really.
She wrote book 1, This Heart of Mine in a such lovely way. It was short but with so much emotion and book 2 is really something else. We get to see how the whole thing with Kayla & Madison progresses and how they battled the issues they have. I like that Amanda gave us something more. Emotions, struggles and love that I really like in a book. The story of Kayla & Madison evolve into something more mature and sincere. We get to see em take a step back, fight and eventually make up. They have moved past the lovey-dovey but into something that’s more mature & with a bright future ahead of them.
What I didn’t like is that with what happened to Kayla, she & her grandparents didn’t do anything bout it. Reading the story, I was waiting when will they are going to make their move but something happened along the way and justice was served. I just didn’t like that she didn’t do anything bout it. It doesn’t set a good example.
But overall, I like it. No, I loved it. And yes, another cliffhanger but not something like in book 1.
I devoured the whole book in one sitting and I was happy when I finished it. I cannot wait to read book 3. I am itching for a teaser. I really don’t know what to expect in book 3 though but I am sure Amanda will give us something that’s again worth reading.
:)
*Contains very minor spoilers that occur within the first 8 pages of the book*
I did not finish this book and here is why....
Reason number one: 6 pages into the book KJs grandmother FINALLY asks her about a nasty bruise on her face that is just now healing after a month. Why the hell would she wait that long especially since she notice behavioral changes in KJ as well, and is aware that both KJs mother and ex are looking for her and mean her harm. Just so stupid.
Reason number two: 8 pages into the book KJ tells her grandmother that her ex found her and raped her. After asking KJ if she is ok physically- which Kj answers no to- the grandmothers next concern is is she has told Maddison and what the status of their relationship is. Then in all of her old woman wisdom she orders KJ to go call him right now. What that hell?!
Reason number three: After a month of no contact or communication of any kind Maddison has sex with some random chick who just so happens to look exactly like KJ.
At that point I just decided I was done with this book and this author. I usually do not review books that I did not finish, but this is just so past the realm of horrible that I could not help myself.
I did buy this book after reading the first and hating it so I really only have myself to blame, but to be fair the 1st book ended on a massive cliffhanger and I always find it hard to stop a series once started no matter how bad it is. Also, I had the very naive thought that since the first book was so bad there was only room for impovement,, I mean how much worse could it get right? So wrong!
The story of Kayla and Madison just keeps on ticking.....my heart constricted and finally started pumping with joy again once Madison figured out what he wanted in this life of his. But how I cringed when he met Korena and realized what a mistake he had made!! I wanted to smack the crap out of him....why are men so stupid sometimes??? I mean...really???? But when he told KJ about his one night stand, my heart hurt for him and what she told him in return!!!! I loved Kayla's thoughts afterwards that she saw all the love radiating off of him after she confessed her deep dark secret, when all she was expecting was a negative reaction....awww LOVE!!! I know they weren't technically together, but it doesn't hurt any less when you love someone with all of your being.
Madison decided it was time to prove his love for his pretty girl and boy did he ever!! Kayla is such a strong, sweet girl, who loves this man just as much....so it was great to see them finally admit it to each other!!! Everyone else could see it, but they took their sweet time admitting it!!! Plus, I just loved the scene when Kayla was skyping Madison's concert to his grandparents...that made my heart fill with love for these two characters!! But what happened after that broke my heart for them...but was relieve that they are getting through the tragedy together!! Love knows no age boundaries!!!
I can't wait to see where the third book takes us on this beautiful journey of Kayla and Madison!!
THIS IS A SERIES REVIEW, SO IT ENCOMPASSES ALL THREE OF THE RAINE NOVELS. Original review at Gabic Reads.
I really, really wanted to love this series. But I couldn't. I loved the characters! Though it did seem that Kayla just ignored Madison whenever she was mad at him. Seriously, every little thing she got mad at him about, she didn't talk to him for a day or two. And it did seem like it was every little thing, too.
There were also parts of the plot that I'm not sure why they were included. Like Kayla gets involved in a car crash and its not even pertinent to the plot. It provided nothing to the plot at all. In fact, it just confused me.
And what was up with Wren? First he allies himself with Kayla's mother to get revenge on a girl who moved 6 hours away. Then, when Kayla's mom dies, he allies himself with Madison's dad to ruin their lives. Obviously, he's insane.
The reason, I wanted to love this story is because it is so sweet. Madison and Kayla have both had hard lives and both deserve to find love. And with each other it's possible. They're obviously in love and want to take care of each other. But then you realize they've only known each other for two days. And then it's like "what in the world is going on here."
Honestly, I did want to love this series, but it just wasn't for me. But maybe it's for you and you love it. I hope you do.
This starts off one month later where This Love Of Mine ended. I loved the first book and the second, although not quite as good, did not disappoint. Madison has left for Arizona to play baseball and had to leave Kayla behind in Texas. After a short time he realizes that he can't be without her and he moves back home. Something horrible happened to her while he was away and she is afraid to tell him because she thinks he will never look at her the same. This poor girl has lived through so much trauma in her young life and my heart just broke for her. He has his work cut out for him when he returns because she has shut herself off to him.
"In the short amount of time that I had come to know this amazingly beautiful young women, I knew she would be my world. The realization of that wasn't hard to miss, but my actions had shown her otherwise."
He is determined to be back in her life even if it's just as a friend. These two were both so young and dumb that at times, I just wanted to throttle them. But the way they handle what happened to her redeemed them both in my eyes. Her for being so strong and him for never missing a beat when he learned the truth. Just a warning, this does end with another cliffhanger. Great story and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Picking up almost exactly where we left of we find Madison has moved away and is at school. Kayla is living in a black place because of her life and she won't talk to Madison at all. Not knowing whats going on Madison thinks she's moved on from him and decides he's going to move on too.
Enter skank that ends up being a stalker. Madison doesn't want anything more to do with said skank and can't get her to leave him alone. When he finally gets Kayla to talk to him the skank screws it up by implying that he's going to talk to her later. Kayla goes back in to her shell a little bit more.
We meet Joey in this book, he's Glenn's (Madison's bff) baby brother. Joey is a great friend for Kayla, just is there for when she needs a friend.
Madison decides he loves Kayla too much to be away from her so he switches schools only to come back to Kayla saying they should just be friends.
So much little stuff goes on in this book that you kinda need to read it for yourself because I don't want to spoil anything for you. I'm still wondering how they are going to make it to a normal life. They have some crazy stuff going on in their worlds!
This Trust of Mine was an awesome read, I am a big fan of Amanda Bennett's books and this did not disappoint.
We pick up where we left off with Madison and Kayla. Kayla is struggling, she is trying to deal with happened to her a month ago. Madison is away at college and Kayla is feeling scared and alone, rather then telling Madison what happened she pushes him away.
Madison left his family and Kayla to follow his dream of playing college baseball. Madison was struggling, Kayla wasn't acting like her usual self, she was distant from him which left Madison wondering if his dream of playing baseball was worth being so far away from the girl he loved.
Madison and Kayla take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, they have a strong magnetic pull towards each other even when life throws them a curve ball.
I love this series so far, the ending was a cliff hanger and I can't wait for This Heart of Mine..
I was so thrilled today when I got up and saw that I could read this trust of mine. This was a continuing story of this love of mine. We join author Amanda again as she tells the story of Madison and Kayla. Madison is away at school, while Kayla is trying to start her life in Texas begining with her senior year. Yes they have to go threw many things that some couples do, but other time they find a way back to each other. They learn to trust each other with everything.( I could write more but then I don't want to spoil this story for anyone else.)
I truly believe this couple will have a happy ending in the next book. Yes I said , there is another book comming. And let me tell you there is a cliff hanger. One that I said oh this could happen, but no she is not going to do that to us... well, Amanda did... It was an wonderful book to read. I can't wait to read the next book of this series...
Rushed reading the first two books thinking I already had the last installment. Apparently, haven't acquired it yet. So smart.
So far, my thoughts is that most of the things that are happening are in the book was just added for spice but failed to give it a kick. I mean, don't get me wrong. I am into the Madison-Kayla love story. There were just parts of the story that were introduced, forgotten by the middle part and suddenly Bennett remembered to tie it all up in by the end. (See baseball, Mom and Wren, college..) That was frustrating.
Hopefully by the third book, we get to secure all loopholes. Bennett keeps mentioning these additional characters that I keep expecting that we get a glimpse of their story. But, it seems she is just misleading. Anyway, *fingers crossed*
3.5 stars. This was a nice continuation of the first book. But I must say that Kayla and Madison have to be the two most stubborn people of all time. I mean they have incredible chemistry. They can't keep their hands off each other and yet they both keep making excuses to just stay friends. It was frustrating to read. And once they finally got their relationship sorted out and admitted their love for each other, things turned a bit corny. But it was well balanced with other raw emotions that I felt while reading. This book ended with a cliffhanger too, but one that I kinda saw coming.
There were quite a few grammatical/spelling errors in this book. Something I didn't notice in the first book. Other than that, an easy, enjoyable read.
This Trust of Mine is book two in the Raine Series. I would say you need to read them in order to really understand the characters and what's going on.
Book one left us hanging to see what would happen with Madison and Kayla, and book two picks the story right up.
TTOM had the perfect amount of angst and drama, mixed with a beautiful love story. This book has it all and was one I couldn't put down. I don't want to give anything away, but after that ending...I cannot wait for the third and final book!!! It's so easy to fall in love with the characters and feel like you are part of this story.
Just loved this series! Another home run by Amanda!
Wow talk about watching a train wreck that is exactly how I felt reading this book and of course I couldn't look away or put down this book. I wanted to jump thru the book and beat Kayla's ass she just didn't seem to be listening to what Madison was telling her not to mention she just shuts him out. Lots of ups and downs. I never thought they would actually work it out it was getting frustrating. A few hot sex scenes -again nothing detailed or to raunchy. Another cliff hanger ending but I don't think it was as bad as the one in "This Love of Mine". Word on the street is the final book in the raine series is due out in July-maybe it will release early ;)
Love these country characters so much. Madison realizes he never should have left Kayla for his baseball scholarship. He decides to come back home to Texas to get the only girl he loved back. When he returns he learns Kayla was tragically raped by her ex minutes after he left her to go to college in Arizona. They decide to take things slowly as friends to rebuild their relationship. The whole time they are still madly in love with each other. They get back together as his career as a singer is taking off. His grandfather dies of cancer. In the end Kayla is taking a pregnancy test. What a cliffhanger great book can't wait for the third one.
Mixed feelings with this one. I like Kayla less in this second book, and I do not like disliking the female characters in the books I read! I feel like I'm betraying all women or something.
Madison and Kayla go through more drama and life lessons that threaten to pull them in opposite directions, but they are finding out they are stronger united than apart. It can be sweet, and I cannot help but root for them. Sickening, I know.
The ending once again irritates me to no end! BLEH.... I gotta wait for book three now to see how these two figure out their crap.
WOW, Amanda Bennett has just proved again why she is one my favorite authors. Hands down Miss Bennett you are by far an amazing writer. You grab ahold of your audience from the very first word on the page.
This is a series that captivates you in all ways possible. It's about forgiveness, longing, friendship, lost, pain, love and so much more. It wraps you up and won't let you go until the last word on the page has been read and even then it leaves you wanting more.
