Yuniko is your typical 15-year-old girl — except she's obsessed with the late, great actor Akira Nanae. In fact, she'll go to any lengths to swipe anything that belonged to him. She breaks into dressing rooms, sets off fire alarms, and even employs robotic housekeepers to recover his lost possessions.
The only person who stands between Yuniko and Nanae's coveted Academy Award statue is Ryu Eba, and up-and-coming actor who's known as the "New Nanae." He's on to Yuniko's schemes and takes great pleasure in placing roadblocks in her way. When Yuniko's with Ryu, tempers flare and sparks fly—but before long, her anger turns into what might be attraction. Suprise!
But the real suprise comes with Ryu reunites Yuniko with her long-lost mother. This family reunion is nothing like anyone ever expected...
Rie Takada ( 高田りえ) is a Japanese manga artist. She debuted in 1990 in the 17th issue of the manga anthology magazine Sho-Comi with the series SP girl. She still writes primarily for Sho-Comi, with her serialized works also published in collected volumes by Shogakukan, the company that publishes Sho-Comi.
Yuniko the daughter of a famous movie star (who currently suffers from amnesia) is a thief. However, she only steals items that used to belong to the late movie star, Akira Nanae. On her most recent heist she must defeat an up-and-coming movie star Ryu Eba. Yuniko finds herself falling for the charming actor; even though she's devoted her heart to the deceased Nanae.
Wild act is a menagerie of love triangles, scandal, action, adventure, intrigue and mistaken identities. The plot does get a bit convoluted or repetitive (like a Soap-Opera); but because of the cute and upbeat main character, it doesn't get tiresome. Takada draws delightful characters and is never without 'cool' boys and 'cute' girls.
This is a relatively long series of 10 volumes, so if you're still not sure if you should try it, I recommend starting with Takada's 3 volume manga "Punch!". It contains a completely different storyline, but contains Takada's trademark comedy, and a plethora of 'cool' boys and 'cute' girls.

My Thoughts:
I originally read this years ago, but I got an itch to reread it, so this is my second time reading this series.
I really like Rie Takada's shoujo manga series. Her heroines tend to be fiesty and fun and her heroes are gorgeous and awesome. I'd forgotten that this series was about actors and the weird way Yuni meets Ryu. She's pretty daring. Ryu for his part is a little strange to react the way that he did when she robs him. I guess he just saw a cute girl and wanted an excuse to see her again.
When we meet Yuni, she's already plotting how to steal her next piece of Akira Nanae memorabilia and she even manages to almost pull it off. If only that window wasn't on the third floor... From there, Yuni and Ryu end up playing cat and mouse with each other. They both end up crushing on the other, but get warned away from getting involved with each other by Yuni's guardian Sanae. This being a shoujo manga (and the fact I've read this before), I already know that warning won't do much good.
As things currently stand, Yuni has gone to visit her mother at the hospital and gets very shocked by what she finds there. She knew her mother was sick and she hasn't seen her in years, but I don't think Yuni was prepared for this at all. At least Ryu is there with her. She's going to need the moral support.
I’ve read a couple other of Takada’s stories, and have had this on my eye for a while. I finally got my hands on the full series, and plan to be making quick work of it.
This volume started out a bit slow, but relatively quickly got interesting.
Yuniko, a fifteen-year-old, is obsessed with Akira Nanae, a famous movie star who died sixteen years. And she’s determined to get all of his worldly possession, and has ended up having to steal them from the people that have them. Which includes taking the newly-awarded trophy away from Ryu Eba, a newly recognized and popular actor only two years older than her, on the night he’s given it. And that starts their friendship.
He gets it back, but teases her into trying to steal it again, and somehow they end up running into each other several more times, and then he takes a job at the theatre near where she lives, and where her best friend works.
I liked Yuniko. I’d already guessed the reason behind her obsession, but it still left me satisfied and looking forward to more. She has a pet flying squirrel, Kamui, her little apprentice who’s adorable. I like the few friends of hers that I’ve met so far, and look forward to getting to know them better. Her mother is in the hospital, and has been for as long as she can remember, and she goes to see her, for the first time, at the end of this volume and I’m looking forward to seeing how that works out. I like Ryu Eba, and am looking forward to seeing their relationship and attraction develop. Really looking forward to that.
This was a pretty good volume, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.
Series Rating: 4 Stars Series Review Mostly spoiler free. A bit of wrap up from Volume 10 but nothing that gives away any surprises.
I read Wild Act Volumes 1-4 back in high school. I recalled very little of it, but recently came across a good deal on Volumes 5-8, so I decided to pick them up again.
The first volume is a pretty average "love at first sight" shoujo manga. I enjoyed it, but nothing stood out to me as being exceptional.
It's pretty typical, predictable, and in come cases annoying. It's like a soap opera, but it involves acting, and a dead actor who kind of reminds me of Bruce Lee. The characters are also pretty boring, except for the okama Mother-like figure, but yeah. Also the main character is very tsundere mary sue-ish complete with a rare flying squirrel, and parents who are Super amazing actors in an acting shoujo.
***SPOILER ALERT*** This one was about a thief who stole memorabilia from an old dead actor, than falls in love with a famous actor that looks like the dead one. In the end she finds out the dead actor was her father and her boyfriend actor is her brother. You can see why I gave it one star.

Gak nyangka klo ini karya takada rie.Berharap yg didapat komedi romantis seperti heart tapi ternyata bukan.terlalu berbelit buat pembaca yang hoby membaca komik hanya untuk melepas penat seperti saya :D
A flying squirrel who's an excellent thief-accomplice and an obsessive fan girl who leaps off buildings just to steal a star's old belongings--too fun!
This was great. I am not really a shoujo manga reader but this caught my attention and I will never regret reading it. It's great. I expect great things from this author.
