Troy Connor has no idea who he is. He doesn’t know where he came from, or how and why he ended up in the crime-ridden streets of Detroit. All that he knows are the disturbing nightmares that haunt his mind, the strange, powerful skills he develops, and the plans he has in store for them.
As he learns to harness his new abilities, Troy must deal with being in love for the first time, a deadly enemy sent to destroy him, and a mysterious stranger who may hold the secrets to his past.

This is the first in the Invincible Trilogy and for a self-published book, it was really good.
It starts out with Troy waking up in a man in his 30's house, Brad. He doesn't know where he is or who he is, only his name. He doesn't know how he really go there and why. Only that he has these powerful abilities that no normal humans have.
It isn't until Troy's second day of school he finds out he has these powers. He discovers them after a fight with the football player Rick, who is badly injured after that. (Let's be honest, he deserved it.)
This kinda reminds me of The Amazing Spider-Man. But here me out, a nobody in the beginning, a somebody and a hero in the end. When you read it you'll understand.
Brad was like a father to Troy throughout the book. He took him in, took care of him, fed him, drove him to school, provided a home, and other family like qualities.
Troy isn't alone in this world. He has Jack and Taylor. Jack befriended him immediately on the first day of school and I just adore him and he's actually pretty funny. Taylor is pretty and wants to be a journalist. She and Troy has this crush romance going on throughout the whole story.
I will be honest, the relationship between Troy and Taylor seemed a little sudden but I am interested to see where this will go.
The beginning is mostly about character building and we see Troy adapting to his abilities/powers and figure who he really is. It isn't until the end where we are introduced to the enemy but it went so fast it didn't even matter. Plus when we finally know who he is I was like "Uh, what?" and "How do you even pronounce that?"
Just a side note; Lion-Man. Seriously? Lion-Man. XD Man, sure. Lion, not so sure. If I choose the name, I say Drifter like how he's so fast he drifts away from whatever happened like nothing happened and pretends he doesn't know anything. I don't know.
This is really a fast paced book and when I say fast pace I mean fast pace. I finished about like 2-3 hours. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next book. Hopefully I'll get an ARC.
First please forgive the run on sentences I'm trying to do this on a bus from my phone whilst keeping an eye out for my stop....harder than I thought
Invincible sadly was quite disappointing I'm afraid. The premise is good although a little too similar to I am number four (right down to the alien fight scene in the school, using large alien creatures to fight for them, fellow alien girl, human friend and girlfriend.) and it fell short in a lot of areas.
The writing was good overall and I could follow the flow of the story but things were happening that didn't make sense, such as the character's having knowledge of events and other character they couldn't possibly know.
An example of this would be the main villain knowing Troy's name (a fake name that he came up with himself) despite them never meeting, and ok I suppose the doctor could have told them these things and probably would have when he went to work for them (in which he had one appearance, making him seem important but he goes and dies off page after passing the enemy information.) but the way he talked to Troy in their 30 second conversation was very personal as if this kid was his arch-nemesis, which was really confusing seeing as how they had never met, the boy was not part of the military and only happened to be a resident of the last world they destroyed, in which he was hardly unique as there were a few.
It's not a very detailed review as I'm in a rush and I cant say I really enjoy bashing a book, I'd prefer to let people form their own opinions but I cant say there was very much I did enjoy about this book I'm afraid.
The writer seems to have some talent and I'm hoping he can use this as a stepping stone to produce better standards of work. Invincible is a respectable effort but personally just fell short in a lot of areas.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Is it really that easy to call someone Dad if you only know them for less then a few months?
The beginning is certainly creepy, and you realize that something is very wrong with the protagonist. First of all, if you found yourself in a stranger's house, wouldn't you be alarmed, actually very alarmed.
Besides the obvious lack of stranger danger awareness. There were other failings in this book. Like the cliche mistakes and the lack imagination in hiding one's secret identity.
Anyway, this review wasn't meant to be really like this. It wasn't supposed to be critical at the author, but more of a calmer and positive review.
Invincible was upbeat, it wasn't dull, really, the action kept moving and the characters okay. Another point that was good, was the good-old-fashion-fight in the end, even though it was a bit of a let down the end. I think about three-fourths into the book I was kinda hoping that it would become a series. Though I've changed my mind since reading the end.
So, in the end give this book a chance. Its a okay read and worth reading for most of the part.
*Sigh*... I don't like giving bad reviews because people put their heart and soul as well as a large amount of time into books.
But honestly I didn't like this book. It was poorly edited, a tad slow and the characters train of thought is best described as befuddled. And it was pretty un-original. I mean, I understand that in a world where everyone has written just about every story you can think of, it takes great skill and/or imagination to create something new or at least entertaining. Leaving aside actually making it into a popular successful bestseller.
But this book felt as if the author just read I Am Number Four and said "Hey, if this was so popular maybe I can re-write it, change a few names, places, and twist the character a tad and it might actually sell pretty well. Seriously, let's count them shall we...
Then there were the typos, if you could call them that. Every time we meant "Quiet" we said "Quite". Every. Time. There were also redundancies, and I'm not sure if it was just my copy (Digital) but the pages were half-filled with tons of space between paragraphs. On a whole could have done with a lot of editing.
Out of time now, quite a bit went into the spoiler so if this looks short, you're wrong.
Oh dear. I'm not sure if the author tried publishing via the usual route first or if he went straight for self publishing. I strongly suggest that the author take a long, hard look at his narrative before trying to write another book.
The grammar is disastrous, with past and present tenses mixed incoherently. I could not get past the second page! DNF page 2
Poorly written is the best word i can come up with to describe this ..."book". Disjointed would be another. I could only read about 1/4 of the book before i had to put it aside and said No more.
