This book. Is written. In lots of short sentences. Which is extremely. Annoying.

I kinda liked the seventh book in this series, which was also my first read from this series and I decided to give this series a chance. I had high hoped for this story, since I did like the blurb. I did like the beginning of the story but that beeing said, I am quite disappointed in the hero and his behaviour. I did like the herione and the other characters but the hero was an idiot, manho and mostly thought of his needs before the heriones and to top it off, he demands of her and her dragon to submit to him. Frankly said, he's an asshole that I'd beat up. So...I could barely overlook him kidnapping her, telling her that she'll just have to get used to her new life AND sharing her body with a dragon BUT this line “Abby, I know what he did. One of the warriors, Ha’ven’s informant, told me about Ben’qumain raping you. They heard your screams. It doesn’t matter. You are mine and will always be mine.” was what finally pushed me over my limit. She was almost raped and he said that it doesn't matter. Like what the fuck!? Btw. she wasn't raped but that's not the point here. Also, when he finds her, the next morning they have sex and that is before she tells him she wasn't actually raped and of course he sleps with her, not even bother to ask her, if she's OK or I don't know, maybe even hint to her point of view on beeing intimate! Just what a fucking asshole! At that point I simply had to give up on this book at 84%. I'm done with this series. Just not what I'd enjoy from my heroes.

Abducting Abbie by S. E. Smith
Book 1 of the Dragon Lords of Valdier series. Science fiction and paranormal romance. Dragon shifters from a different galaxy.
Dragon shifter aliens, symbiot gold and a pervert that Abbie needs saving from. Then on to the dragon world where the threats are multiple.

Sexy hot dragons and lots of steamy sex. Consensual and on the dominate side.
“You are mine, Abby. I have claimed you. You will learn to adapt.”

Amusing in places, steamy in others. Political issues and wars that need to be fought and protected. Phrases that pissed me off a bit but push back and communication resolve the differences.
A romance that starts a trend and seeds a world with new ideas and another generation.

Excerpt:
“Zoran looked at both his brothers. He had never seen them like this. “What is wrong?”
“Wrong? Wrong, he asks,” Trelon growled, pointing the bottle at Zoran. “I’ll tell you what is wrong. You landed on a d[…] planet of females who would drive any male to distraction and then act like it is the male’s fault! No, you couldn’t land on a planet where our symbiots would want to kill the female and our dragons would find them repulsive.
“No, you had to land on a planet where my symbiot is so infatuated with the female it does every d[…] thing she asks, regardless of what I say, and my dragon is so horny it is about ready to disembowel me if I don’t claim her before another male does, only I can’t catch her long enough to do so.”
“You too?” Kelan looked blurry-eyed at Trelon. “My female refuses to even acknowledge me as a male. All she does is quote her name, rank, and some awful number I can’t remember. She insists I take her home. My symbiot is sleeping with her like it is her new pet, sending me images of her stroking and and scratching it and talking nonsense, while me and my dragon get to suffer.”
Kelan grunted as his head fell forward. “She even said if I wanted to stay in my dragon form she would scratch my belly, “but she wouldn’t touch me with a ten-foot pole.”

Let's get one thing straight first...

This is a story about a dragon shifting alien who abducts a girl named Abby. Obviously I'm going to be biased. It is three of my favorite things in one sentence.

That being said, this is a solid example of the alien-smut genre. It won't leave you scarred, but it wasn't mind-blowingly original either. It was a good read anyways.

I really enjoyed the addition of a symbiant that lived separate from the alien. I would however like to know what happens when the symbiant kicks the "not your mate" female out of bed. That would be entertaining.

Because enthusiasts of the genre will want to know, the aliens look human. There is nothing different in appearances. Naturally they are slightly bigger. But not crazy big. Their eyes change when their dragon is near the surface. And the symbiants can look like a shiny gold necklace. So do not read this if you want alien looking aliens. Do read this if you just love aliens, dragons, or alien dragons.

This book has a lot of elements I like, but it ultimately didn't work for me. I thought Abby was an inconsistent character--shy and seemingly weak one minute, yet suddenly able to fight off attackers the next. Plus, I could not get behind how easily she accepted that an alien warrior had crash landed on her mountain.

Part of my issue is that I'm not a huge fan of a woman having to give up everything to be with her man. In the end, Zoran had to give up nothing while Abby had to completely adjust her way of thinking and life to find happiness. She LITERALLY became something different, was given no say in in the transformation, was cosmically transplanted, and was expected to just smile and go along with what was happening. On the other hand, Zoran got his true mate and that was that.

Not my cup of tea, but others seem to adore this series so... *shrug*

Lots of sex but not much else - certainly no character or story depth

The storyline was creative, unique and did have lots of potential but the follow through flat out sucked. It was insta everything. Insta-love, insta-friends, insta- perfect life etc. I never got the sense that any of these characters had a thing in common. Or even a real conversation for that matter. There were just too many missing pieces and everything came entirely too easily. While the sex was pretty good, that was basically all that happened throughout this read. There was absolutely no depth what so ever. Waste of time and money and certainly not a series I would continue.

Abby finds Zoran injured in an odd ship and she brings him home to help him recover from whatever injured him but becomes attached to Goldie and Zoran but doesn't believe they have a future together since they're from different worlds. Zoran an alien, dragon shifter falls for Abby and finds that she is his mate and wants her but he trying to give her some time before he tells her what he really wants from her.

I love dragon shifter stories and need to continue so that I can find out what happens through out the series and how it progresses with the other brothers.

The best part of this book was the story summary. Why? Because the actual story is ridiculous, forcing the reader to suspend all - and I do mean ALL - belief in human reality. I get that this is science fiction and is supposed to be about aliens (that look human when they aren't in dragon form (WTHeck?), but Abby's reaction to finding a spaceship on her property was just insane. I - as would most normal human beings - would get my butt as far away from it as possible and call for help, but in the book there is no fear, no shock, and no fleeing for safety. What we get is this:

"Ohhh, pretty! Let me stroke it and love it and tell it everything will be okay." *gasp*"WOW! What cool gold bracelets [manacles] you just gave me! Oh and a necklace, too? What a sweet spaceship you are! Let me rub you some more!"

Gag me with a dragon. If that's not enough to put the book on your DNF pile and you read on, the next question to pull you out of the story is how tiny little Abby gets seven foot tall Zoran and his 18D size feet all the way to the house and into the bedroom. All. By. Herself. Theys grows 'em strong in them there mountains.

The rest of the book is more of the same with lots of extremely explicit sex that is done with questionable consent. I don't read erotica, so that was part of the problem. I was caught off guard. Take this part of my review with a grain of salt as it's clearly personal preference.

The characters are like cardboard cutouts. Abby is TSTL. Zoran is a controlling Azzhat who hurts her during sex and takes every choice away from her. I didn't like either one of them...or any of the other characters who pop up in the book. It was like a train wreck...I couldn't look away.

I should've known better than to pick this up, but I was intrigued by the story summary and thought there was a deeper story here that could've been very special. Obviously I was wrong. As for the writing, be prepared to hear the same sentences repeated over and over and over...and over. Clearly this does not get my recommendation. There are better science fiction books out there and even though I know very little about the erotica genre, I'm pretty sure you can find better that this hot mess as well.

Save your time. If you do decide to read this book, I suggest lots of tequila and a very good sense of humor.

First let me say I've read this author before so I knew that there would be a lot of sex and that doesn't bother me as long as it's got a good storyline and characters I like. Unfortunately this book didn't. I thought the plot sounded interesting but it got so convoluted and ridiculous I spent more time rolling my eyes and saying you've got to be kidding me then I did reading. Zoren was okay and I was interested in the whole symbiot storyline but Abby was just silly and so unbelievable.

SPOILERS: When Abby finds a spaceship and Zoran she shows no fear at all. In fact she understands immediately that the ship is really alive and needs comfort as well. Then she finds Zoran and again no fear, she doesn't even question bringing him to her house to take care of him. Not only is there no fear but really no surprise. Oh hey look an alien and his sentient ship crashed on the mountain. Then he wakes up and even though she can't speak his language they have sex, did I mention she was a virgin before this. On top of that, it's pretty rough sex and she just has to have it. But that's okay because they are in love. No idea how they got that way since they just met and oh yeah she doesn't understand anything he says because she doesn't speak his language. Then because apparently the author didn't think a symbiot was enough he was also a dragon shifter. At the point where he was breathing "Dragon Fire" into Abby during sex so she could be "taken by his dragon" too I couldn't take it anymore.

I hardly ever quit a book before I finish it but this was just terrible. The romance, the characters and the plot were ridiculous. The characters were never developed so I really didn't care what happened to them. The romance was so unbelievable, who falls in love in 24 hours within someone you can't even have a conversation with. The sex came way to quickly especially since Abby was supposed to be a sweet, innocent virgin. The dialogue was preposterous. I haven't even mentioned the horrible editing and the tell not show writing.

Overall, this was a waste of money and my time.

I love S.E. Smith's books so much. Big sexy alien shifter falls for sweet beautiful human and abducts her back to his home planet.

Poor communication followed by great sex followed by mis-understandings and kidnappings. Totally enjoyable!!

I found it very easy to immerse myself completely in this story. The mix of action and romance, cultural divides and acceptance, all combined into an unforgettable story that launches readers out of this stratosphere. The consistent forward pace neither rushed nor lagged, allowing me to enjoy the story completely. The natural flow to the dialogue helped bring the characters to life.

Smith has created some wildly original species and races for this novel (and the series as a whole). I love the added kick that she’s thrown into the mix. And the well-developed yet approachable manner in which she presents it all makes it not only easy to picture, but seem quite plausible as well. This was backed up by Smith’s well developed world and universe building that literally transported me to another word.

I enjoyed how Smith introduces readers to both main characters separately before they ever meet each other. Zoran was a complex mix of sweet and demanding. His high handed decrees combined with Abby’s desire to be her own person was an interesting contrast. The contrasts between culture in Valdier and that in the US made for some very comical moments.

This novel was comical at times, emotional at others, yet always a fun read. It may have been my first novel by this author but it certainly will be far from my last. Smith has opened up new worlds to me that I can’t wait to delve further into, nor would I hesitate to recommend this to others.

This was so bad that I couldn't finish it. The writing was atrocious--like the author was in high school. The beginning was just blocks of exposition. The point of view seemed to bounce between Abby's own and third person. The completely inane thing was how Abby reacted when she found the ship. No fear, no questions. She goes up and PETS it and croons to it because it seems to act afraid. What? She has no fear when meeting the alien. When the ship covered her in gold bracelets why isn't she freaking out thinking it's going to kill or enslave her?! This is the worst thing I have tried to read in a long time.

This was a romanceopoly pick that I decided to grab up for the "Outer Space" prompt. I have been meaning to return to this author, I read her once many years ago, and never returned. So I thought this series sounded so fascinating, I mean alien dragon shifters??? Yes please! So I really had a wonderful time with this one here. It was so enjoyable in many respects. It definitely had merits for a solid romance, but to be honest, it was quite rough around the edges. While many aspects I enjoyed, I think the writing style just wasn't that polished as much as I am used to.

I did find the set up of the story very interesting. The romance as a whole was completely solid and I really enjoyed this couple together. The hero crash lands on the planet, finds out that Abby is his mate, and she ends up in danger from multiple enemies, and they have to work through the outer conflicts that wish to drive them apart. There are quite a few hot steamy moments between these two. But I think what I really enjoyed the most was the outer conflicts in the plot in the later half of the story. It wasn't really what I expected, if I am being honest, and their time together as dragons *my heart* I just enjoyed seeing what the author delivered in this story.

I am not super eager to read the rest of the series though, because the other couples we are introduced to its going to be so angsty and just from the interactions we saw in this book, doesn't make me super excited. Because it looks like all of them will be enemies to lovers set ups and quite frankly all the heroines look to be abusive brats lol not really my cup of tea but I might read through some reviews and see if those change my mind.

Overall I had a blast with this one and very intrigued about this author's other works. Abducting Abby was a sexy alien romance that had bonker alpha vibes, a charming heroine, unexpected plot surprises and a delightful cast of characters to delight in.

Overall book rating: 3.5
Audio Book: David Brenin – 4.5 Really good
Book Cover: 2.5

So I tried a MF again. First one in what feels like ages, but I’m so desperate for a dragon story I’ll about try anything. Hence, the MF.

This was both INCREDABLY corny, and NICELY out of the box in some instances.

Corney cause I absolutely despise Insta-Love and in certain areas it really felt totally unrealistic. I’m not even talking about the Dragons and Aliens and living space ships when I say that!

The dragons and the ship aka symbiosis thing was wicked cool. I loved the combination of the dragon and the alien thing. I loved the interaction between Abby an all this strange aspects. I didn’t like how she just accepts all these ‘strange” things like a bubble head on a car dashboard though.

Don’t get me wrong, I kinda liked her character but girl?? Really? You would really be just, “Oh look, a space ship, Oh look, a passed out alien. Let’s put him to bed.” ??

I like the idea, I just think it could have been done a little better. Maybe she could have a little more reaction closer to realism here? I may or may not read the rest to find out more. The brothers kind of has me intrigued.

And PS: The narrator ROCKED this audio.

It was a freebie on Amazon the other day so I said to myself "Why not?!" And now that I need something highly predictable and not emotionally draining it's good that I have it :)

Full points for predictability :D Except one little thing - in these type of novels the authors limit themselves to two kidnappings (one from the love of the females life - because how else are you going to win your woman except by abducting her - and a second one from a rival of the main male character so the hero can save his one true love and they can live happily ever after), but in this one we had three kidnappings of our female character! Honestly I felt sorry for her. Everything else is just filler to the standard story: gorgeous alien male lands on Earth for some reason, meets a gorgeous woman, insta-lust and insta-love from both sides, male decides to keep her and kidnaps her caveman style, she struggles with her new life for awhile and just when things seem to finally get better BHAM! male's rival kidnaps her and the hero rescues her and they have their HEA. Throw in some sexy times here and there and voilà you have a novel! I like these books because they are mindless entrainment with no emotional strings attached. Ideal for when RL decides to see how much stress I can handle before I go on a murder spree.

Now a few objections to the writing (I mean apart from the obvious ones that everyone familiar with this sub-genre has had at one time or another. These books are best read if you leave logic and common sense in a box somewhere :D) A bit consistency would be nice: don't use a characters name in another's character inner ramblings before they had mentioned said name out loud. And second (which is something that always annoys me in romance/erotica and some other genres) conception DOES NOT occur immediately when the male ejaculates - it takes a few hours for the sperm to travel to the egg, and it DOES NOT occur in the womb, it happens in the fallopian tubes. Dear authors, please stop propagating that misconception cause apparently no one pays attention during biology classes. Research is your best friend!

New to me author.
In no way, shape, or form, do I mean that this author's book is like Michelle Pillow's series "Dragon Lords" BUT if you liked that series you'll like this one too.

Dragon warriors with a human base life form have descended on Earth. Dragons mate for life so when one of them finds an earther that is his mate he abducts her and takes her to his planet. There's a round of roadblocks that they encounter and the usual adjustment that needs to occur when a human finds out her life mate is really a dragon but I really enjoyed this book. The erotica though could have been better but as this was the first in the series I appreciated the core story line development more than the sex scenes.

I really would have liked to rate this as a 4.5 but without that option I slanted more to 5 as this series is promising and want to read more. The lead characters had enough development and chemistry between them that I loved reading this book in one sitting. The world this author created is first rate. I did have some issues with the severing of Abby from her home planet without a VITAL piece of her life not being left behind and hope this author will address it in future installments. Otherwise, the scene is set for future installments and I can't wait.

This was pretty freaking bad way too often. Uneven characterization. And... just dumb stuff. And then there was really really cool stuff! and I laughed!!! and then it was retarded again. XD

I was going to do this detailed instruction manual of what incredibly complicated order to read the books in, but life is too short! Basically, I read books 2-5 at the same time, skipping between them at points of intersection of the books! Because! Spoilers! Ye flippin' gods the spoilers between books. And it irritated me. I had to keep going to the next book (books 6 to... 9?) because the previous book was spoiling. I skipped the sex scenes. I started reading the series because my Amazon kept suggesting I should read the Dragonling's Christmas and such. I wanted the adorableness!!! And they were adorable... But thank gods I'm out of that interminable morass of nonsense!! Ah, plenty of continuity errors, mostly timeline.

Abducting Abby is book 1 in the Dragon Lords of Valdier series, by S. E. Smith , an author I have not read before. I read a friend’s review of this book that attracted my attention. I’m sure glad I did. It was a fascinating adult read.

I really enjoy sci-fi and space books with complex futuristic life forms descended from humans. Dragon warriors have some very interesting add-ons to the human form.

Abby and Zoran were an interesting pair with diverse points of view based on upbringing and heritage. The symbiant (living together of unlike organisms) made a fascinating element within the story as a dragon. The worldbuilding and character building were great.

Quite a unique adventure.

Once again I am in love with a sci-fi series. I do not generally feel this genre, but Ms Smith has a way of drawing you in with engaging characters and compelling story telling. The women are sassy and fun, most of the time and the men are totally Alpha!!

I really like Abby, well when she is being herself, she has a little depression to get past, that was not so fun. It is understandable and handled well. It shows a complexity to the character. She has a tough back story and meets Zoran at a time when she still has a touch of the blues. It is great seeing her persevere and find her place in her new world.

Zoran is totally Alpha male and domineering. He thinks he can order her around and it will be okay. I liked seeing the difference in the cultures. It was interesting watching them grow together, finding compromises. Plus he is just too yummy!

I love the Sci-Fi aspects here. I can be picky, however, the world building here is terrific. Everything comes together nicely and you have some fabulous hints at the rest of the series. Four brothers and four new friends, hmm sounds like some more true mates! Great build and introductions.

The smexy is utterly delicious! Plenty of steam here with detail a plenty. It works with the story, and goodness knows I like things hot! The bonus here is the story is strong enough that it could stand without the steam. Not that I want it gone, cause I like it hawt!

This is a mixed POV mostly coming from the two leads but others mixed in here and there. The problem is that sometimes the transitions are not smooth. You can be with one character for a long time and then have a random line or two from another. I makes things a little jumpy. I like having the other character’s perspectives, just not the randomness of the thoughts. Not annoying enough to hurt my rating, cause I was thoroughly enthralled!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by David Brenin, who has been a favorite for some time. His reads are always delicious and flow beautifully. This is a delightful combination of wonderful narration and brilliant storytelling. The slight rasp to his voice fits the gruff alien dragon shifters. I can always depend on him to set a steady pace and keep the characters consistent. I am never disappointed with his yummy voice!

I am enraptured with this series and cannot wait to see each of the girls HEA happen. Those brothers are in for a real challenge! I am desperate for the rest of the series to hit audio!

Disclosure – I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts opinions and ratings are my own. I was under no obligation to post a review or give positive feedback.

This one required a much needed exercise in suspending my reality. After reading a ton of contemporary fiction, I decided to cleanse my reading palette and try something different that was out of the ordinary and not my normal pick. Abducting Abby kept catching my eye, and I decided to give it a go.

I actually liked this SciFi fiction mixed with erotic romance. The lore reminded me a bid of Lover Eternal from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, where Zoran Reykill is King of Valdier and the Dragon Lord. He escapes from a Curizan military post after being held captive and beaten. His symbiosis takes him to a safe place in the mountains of Earth to recover.

That is where Abby Tanner comes across Zoran's ship and eventually nurses him back to health. During that process, Zoran's symbiosis becomes Abby's protector and aligns itself to her in allegiance. Eventually, Zoran and Abby become true mates and he takes her back to his world, where she starts her transformation as a dragon.

Oh I know it all sounds so strange, but it really works! I willing suspended my reality and went with the twists and turns of this story. I liked the alpha, dragon, king side of Zoran, and I like I said before, he reminded me a lot of Rhage from Lover Eternal.

Abby was an interesting character as well. I enjoyed seeing her align with her foursome posse of hard-headed girls from Earth. It sounds like her human friends will each be getting their own book alongside one of Zoran's brothers.

Interesting SciFi romance that I'm glad I picked up and explored it through a different side of my reading lens...

I wanted to read something with Dragon Shifters and I loved this book. 3 golden stars.
Zoran King of the Valdier was captured by the Cruzian half prince and was tortured. He escapes and lands on a primitive planet. Earth. He calls to his brothers to help him. All in all he has four brothers.
Abby Tanner lives a secluded life on her mountain in California. She is happy with her life until on fateful morning, Bo the dog she is sitting for finds a golden spaceship in a meadow.
Abby rescues Zoran, his dragon and his symbiot. Ok this three way thing really confused me at the beginning but I got it. Abby takes care of Goldie (symbiot) and Zoran. Once he awakens they have communication difficulties but they still manage to communicate some things are the same everywhere.
Zoran mates with Abby. His symbiot loves her, so does his dragon and Zoran well that’s a given. Zoran’s dragon mates by breathing Dragon Fire in to Abby if she is her true mate she will survive. The chemistry between the two was great but Abby also had a problem with the town Sheriff. On her way back she is kidnapped by him but Cara, Ariel, Trisha and Carmen who were also on the plane tried to rescue her only they all got abducted to Valdier. The brothers meet their true mates as well.
S.E. Smith is one of my favorite authors and she has written several books with Serafin, Cruzian and Valdier warriors there is also a slight crossover.

I didn't like it, plain and simple. I sound stupid saying it wasn't realistic as its a paranormal/scifi, but in terms of a humans interactions, it wasn't.

Lots and lots and lots happened, to the point it was too much, and then it ended with a sex scene with no conclusion to their troubles. I was interested in both Cara and Carmen's personalities, but this took me a long time to read and I struggled greatly so I'm unsure if I'll continue at all.

This story is great .Really after i read it i wanted to re read it as many time as i could. The way this story works its way makes it more fun.In some ways this book is quite fun too the way heroine reacts in different situations was kind of outer space .She needed TLC.Before she could give it to the hero.
For example, she should have asked

But rather than doing that she was lusting on him.

Which can only happen in books where hero hit the heroines on her head when she is trying to help him up.The natural flow of the dialogues helped the book come to life in my head. The best part of this book was the dog BO who was actually really cute part of the book and most the time reminded me of my dog. After he left i felt like she should have kept him. Some things about about this book that made this books ending more fun was heroine was able to become a shifter her self.

The first book in the Dragon Lords of Valdier series by S.E. Smith. Zoran Reykill is a dragon shape shifter and the king of the Valdier. He is kidnapped by the Curizans and is tortured for information. He escapes his captors and somehow ends up crashing on Earth. He is found by Abby Tanner, a reclusive glass-blower who lives on the mountain where he crashes. Abby lives quietly on her mountain and only goes to town when needed. For years now the sheriff has been showing a bit too much attention to her and his interest is getting uncomfortable for Abby.

It got a bit weird for me with the whole dragon shape shifter thingy and the symbiosis but overall I did like it. I may continue the series sometime in the future.

So this was a case of liking the side characters more than the main characters. I think I would read the second book in the series to see if things were better in that one, but there was a lot about this book that bugged me.

I enjoyed the start of this book more than how it developed. Abby and Zoran were fun as they met and before they could fully communicate with each other. But I didn't enjoy how dominating alpha male went when he no longer cared what Abby wanted. He started making decision for her and pretty much decided how her life was going to go without any input from her and her capitulation felt very forced.

I liked things on the other planet as well. Once they were there at least. I just didn't particularly like how they got there.
