Learn how the drama all began in this prequel to the wildly popular novel, Been So Long.
Mona-Lisa followed her boyfriend, Corey, to college with dreams of building a stable future with him and leaving her troubled past behind, but a chance meeting with a handsome stranger threatens to derail their relationship and send her right down a path she has tried to avoid.
***Author's Note***
This novella was written after Been So Long was published as a treat for fans of Been So Long. Enjoy!!
Married at sixteen, a mother twice by seventeen, and thrice a mother and divorced by twenty-four, Adrienne Thompson is no stranger to adversity. Not your typical teenage mother, she went on to complete her college degree and to earn her nursing license. She attributes God's faithfulness as the catalyst for her success in life. Now, having raised three children as a divorced mother, she is sharing a long hidden talent and passion with the world. Using the lessons that life has so expertly taught her as a guideline (betrayal, abusive relationships, self-esteem issues, witnessing the deteriorating effects of drug abuse), she has created stories that will both entertain and inspire the reader.
Adrienne currently resides in Arkansas in her newly empty nest. Formerly an RN, she now writes and publishes her stories full time. She is also a motivational speaker.

I started this book about 3 hours ago. It was great from start to finish. The characters were believable and the plot was even better, especially in knowing that Corey is in the next story. The mother was hilarious and I'll definitely be reading the next in the series. Kudos to Thompson.
This is the first book in the series and I think almost everyone has been in this situation. This was a great short book to read. I don't give spoilers so this review will be short. This is a great read not a lot of drama just a good story line and great characters. I suggest you read it if you ready to jump into a great series!
I chose to read this book because a friend recommended this author to me...I AM SO GLAD I LISTENED! I could not put this book down, and now, I am on to the next book by Adrienne Thompson.
Mona may seem like the typical college student who has a boyfriend named Corey but a but on the wild side as her eyes wander on other gorgeous specimens.
Sadly, Mona doesn't acknowledge her self-worth and know that she is valued; keeps asking the men in her life if she is beautiful. We don't need a man to validate or value who we are as a whole.
However, one thing that bothered me mostly in this short read is that some parts were a bit rushed and overlooked such as sister left the house since 12 years old. She was never found? No one went out looking for her? Mother briefly mentioned but unsure how to take this information, and wished it was explained a bit more. Yet I did like the dynamics of what goes on in most relationships, especially between the one you see a future with and other one you truly love that seems like a dead-end, or very little hope. Mona put herself in the middle of it all, and hopefully will make the best choice overall.
I didn't realize this was a short read, but a prequel to one of her other novels. This also reads like New Adult (which is preset for older teens, or college age adults like 18-25).
*I received a copy from the author in PDF format for a review.
I knew this was a prequel so I knew it would be short but it's a great beginning to this series. Mona- Lisa followed her boyfriend Corey to college but after they got there she started to realize she loved the idea of Corey but she wasn't truly in love with him. Coming from her past with an absentee Father and a Mother who was a druggie and prostitute Corey was her ticket to a secure future and stability. She meets Wasif in college, a gorgeous Indian guy, who captures her heart and makes her realize she wants something different. The catch is Wasif will have to have an arranged marriage so he would never be able to marry her. She didn't have time to think it completely through before she is faced with being a parent and choosing Corey or Wasif. I can't wait to read the rest of the series to see what happens next............
I just finished this book which is the prequel to Been So Long. There are four books in this series and all the books received four and a half to five stars, which is why I decided to purchase them. I can't wait to start on the next one. It definitely draws you in and flows smoothly from there. Mo has had a sad but interesting life, but it has not left her unscathed. Her mother is probably the worse mother ever and she should not have been trusted to care for an alley rat, least of all two children. She just didn't give a damn. Mo's stability was Corey, but enter Wasif and that changed things. I'm so curious about her sister. Good and easy read...Looking forward to the next book.
This was my first read by Ms. Adrienne Thompson. She did NOT disappoint. I enjoyed reading the well written storyline and the characters were very well developed. I was unhappy about Mona breaking Cory's heart. She didn't realize that lovin another will cause you to loose your man-thing! Poor Cory, he seemed such a sincere Young man madly in love with Mo. Mo unsure how to control her emotions and guard her heart, from the fineness of Wasif, she becomes distract by the good looks of Mr. Wasif. Enjoyable Novella!!!!! Ms. Adrienne Thompson has been added to my favorite author list, along side Sharon Cooper, Delaney Diamond, Candace Shaw just to name a few writers I enjoy! I'm looking forward to continuing the "Been So Long" Series....
I love a good book that you can just be still and read; and this is the book. Mr. Thompson's work is so airy and light, you could almost feel it. it's not bogged down by a bunch of sex and profanity; or nasty attitudes; no shootings either. Its just plain and simple. A.Good.Read..Ms. Thompson sure has me curious about her characters...even the new generation that just started..The only thing that's standing in the way of me and her follow-up, is writing this review...So...no disrespect...See Ya!!!
