A bachelor curmudgeon, a Celtic witch, and an adorable wee girl with lavender eyes. Join them in the last days of the Swordfights & Lullabies tour - and see what love has wrought.
This is a short read, about the length of two chapters in the Modern Witch series books. Not a short story, really - more like a snapshot. The chance to share a few special moments with some of your favorite witches.
Again a very small (30 pages?) look at the last concert in Cassidy's final tour before she makes some changes - a tour whose second part included Morgan and Markus on the tour bus, lovely ^^.
short, cute little book but nice to wrap up the end of a career to see how it ended with support of family and friends. and to also tie it to the future with love and family.

extremely short, could easily have been an epilogue to Celtic Witch. Here Marcus and Cassidy get their HEA as you experience the final days of Cassidy’s final tour.
Debora allows us a little treat in this "novel morsel," which gives a brief glimpse of life on Cass's farewell tour, with Marcus and Morgan in tow. Cass isn't finding giving up the spotlight and her roaming ways quite as hard as she thought it would be. Is that because she's finally found the stable place she's unconsciously longed for - in the heart and arms of a warlock who resisted opening his heart to love for so long? These two partial souls have finally found the whole they've been searching for and it's a warm, healing home for both of them (with a little room to spare for an impish little girl with violet eyes!)
This lovely story warmed my heart but made me sad knowing that it's the harbinger of the final book in Debora's Modern Witch series. However, her promise of a new series peopled with my favorite characters is a wonderful balm to my heart! I'm sure my readers roll their eyes whenever I review one of Debora's books, because I can't help but gush over them and try to describe the way each one melts my heart, but all of them - even the little nibbles like this one - never fail to make me feel warm and wonderful that I just can't help it! Thank you, Debora, for this little morsel!
It's been quite a while since I've read the last books in the series, luckily this spin-off was just what I needed before reading book 7 ("A Lost Witch").
As with Geary's other books, her writing is friendly and easy to follow. It's only a short book but its content is quite touching. In this book Marcus realises that he needs to propose to his one and only love, realising that he needs her forever. He is no longer a lonely bachelor with a stone heart, he wants to love her and have a family. It's such a change. This book is the story of how he realises that she is the one (concreting the belief), and how he proposes marriage.
Although it was only a snippet of a story, it was still worth a read. It was a brilliant way to re-introduce the reader to the series and a nice little "this is what happens in the mean time" before reading the wedding in book 7.
Again, well written, the characters are very life like. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
The star rating given reflects my opinion within ‘the official goodreads rating system’.
1 star: Didn’t Like it 2 stars: It’s Okay 3 stars: Liked it 4 stars: Really Liked it 5 stars: It Was Amazing
I don’t really give a rat-fuck that there are some who think I ‘owe’ an explanation for my opinion. Nope, nada, and not sorry about it.
Sometimes I may add notes to explain what my opinions are based on, and sometimes I don’t. I do this for me, on my books, in my library and I don’t ‘owe’ any special snowflakes a thing. Fuck off if you don’t like it and stop reading my shit.
Particularly given the ‘modifications’ to reader’s personal content going on (and outright censorship), unless particularly motivated I will not comment in detail.
It would help if GR was forthcoming in the new ‘appropriate’ and would make a site-wide announcement delineating the new focus from a reader-centric site to one that is now for authors and selling.
So far the last book about the witches we know and love from the series A Modern Witch. I have been captivated by the books and hardly finished one before I tried to get my hands on the next for a month and now it is over. The last will be out in June and I'll be looking forward to it. It is a wonderful bunch of books with humour, friendship, magic and the biggest magic of all: love. Love between spouses, parents and children, relatives and friends in a community where help is freely given and offered across half a continent to all who gets in contact. Some of the talk about magic (and coding) can be a bit hard to grasp, but since that isn't the main topic of the books, it doesn't interfer with my enjoyment of the books. This book gave a very nice impression of the touring life but still it was so much a part of A Celtic Witch, that I think I would have prefered it to be a part - an epilogue - of that book. 1. It was a nice surprise to receive this in my email today. I enjoyed this morsel. I wanted it to be longer though. If you have not read the series this book would be confusing. But if you have read a Celtic Witch it is good read.It lets you see how the tour is going and see how much of a family they have become. It also leaves you wanting to read more books in the A Modern Witch series. I think this makes a Celtic Witch ending so much better and richer. I love Debora Geary books. I am usually waiting impatiently for the next book. If you have not read Modern Witch I would highly recommend the series. It is a clean read. I was given this short novella to read and asked to review by author. Publisher: Fireweed Publishing (April 19, 2013) 301kb file size
I'm only giving this 4 stars because I was expecting a wedding and because the book ended at 93% I was shocked I didn't get it. Other than that, I loved that both Nan and Moira made an appearance in this short little story. I think I have fallen for these Irish grandmothers and they really do make me long for my own (I should go home more often). Without giving away a spoiler, all I can say is I'm proud of Kevin. Maybe I'm getting a little too caught up in Debora Geary's witches because I'm started to think of these people as part of my life ;-) I will say that ring was the most romantic and beautiful thing I have ever heard of. Perhaps my Celtic heart is well tuned to certain romantic notions, but seriously that was my kind romantic and personal....just beautiful.
The short story that bridges the gap between the Celtic Witch and the Lost Witch. A lovely little story focused on the growing relationship between Cass and Marcus as they go on her LAST tour. Morgan goes too! It's a nice interlude and the engagement ring story is very nice as is the proposal -- rather typical Marcus. Geary promises in an afternote that Lost Witch will have a wedding....I can't guess who that might be ;-) Anyway, fun story! It is nice how she keeps feeding her fans in between books.
Once again, Debora provides her readers with an excellent, although very short, read. I am so very glad that we got to see a little bit more in regards to Marcus', Morgan's and Cass' journey.
I truly love and enjoy Debora's books because they just seem to have so much love and joy and sense of family in them with just a bit of magic and mischief for good measure. I highly recommend any and all if her books.
I love this series! Every book has been better than the last. You MUST read this series in order to fully understand and appreciate it. This is really just a short epilogue to the previous book in the series, A Celtic Witch. You get see Cass & Marcus fully come into their love and forming a family. I love the "creation" of her engagement ring. An excellent purchase, and for Amazon Prime customers, a great pick for your measly one free book a month.
What a great way to close out Marcus, Morgan and Cassidy's story! Just a short and very quick read to tie all the loose ends together. This was a gift from Deborah to keep our appetites whetted until the final book in the series is released later this year.
It is what I would expect from this particular storyline, and am glad Ms. Geary did not deviate from the expected. I found it to be comforting knowing that these three were going to be okay.
This was short and sweet detailing what happened to Cassie, Morgan, and Marcus as they were on the road. This story takes place directly after the events in A Celtic Witch and just serves to bring closure. More sweetness, a little fun, and three people who need each other.
"A bachelor curmudgeon, a Celtic witch, and an adorable wee girl with lavender eyes. Join them in the last days of the Swordfights & Lullabies tour - and see what love has wrought." from the blurb.
I have such a soft spot in my heart for Marcus and Morgan that this snippet into their lives placed a Hugh smile on my face and a wonderful weight in my heart. Everyone deserves happiness but Marcus deserves eternal bliss. This series will find a place in even the meanest of heart while filling it with light and hope.
This story in between books is wonderful for closing any remaining questions from the last book on what happens next. I cannot wait to read the last book in this series. I have to admit that if there wasn't a witch central series to read after this one I would be sad to say goodbye to all my friends.
This third short story from the Crusty Old Bachelor saga is well worth reading. This is one of the few follow-up novels that shows the same characters as the main focus. It is a wonderful and light look at the end of one chapter of theirs lives and the beginning of a new chapter. Well worth reading, sweet, light, and entertaining.
A small novella that follows Marcus, Cass and Morgan as they travel on Cass' last tour before they settle down and become a family in Fisher's Cove.
Time spent saying goodbye to the life Cass has always known and opening up the world of music to a young boy and the beginning of learning to be happy and know you deserve it!
Awwwwwwwwwwwww cuuuute cover. Nice story very short. Gaw. I am bewitched. Marcus is my favorite grumpy old (not so old) man. Hope we see more of Cassidy.
If you have not read the Modern Witch series, you should do so before reading this one. If you have read the Modern Witch series you need no further encouragement.
This was just a nice, sweet little short story, part of a series. It definitely wouldn't work as a stand-along - you have to know the series. I enjoyed it, but I just can't rate it as high as others in this series - very short, not much substance, and... well, Marcus just isn't as likeable as the other characters in this series - more likeable than he used to be, though.
Love Marcus the best :) this was just a little story to finish A Celtic Witch. You have to read that one first, then this tidbit. I love the way magic and music are woven together in both these stories. And it's like Fishers Cove, on the road!
This short was a nice little interlude, and peek into the life, of the characters from A Celtic Witch. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book. I especially enjoyed her song from the end of the tour.
This is a short follow up to A Celtic Witch where Cass and Marcus with little Morgan are starting their life together. It fills in the end of their story very nicely with all the spellbinding charm of Geary's Witch world! (pun intended!)
Heartened by the gentle, yet fierce portrayal of love, devotion, fear, acceptance, and a look toward the future, this book is a nice read and an even better proof that there is someone for everyone!
