THIS BOOK WAS FUNNY, THERE WERE PARTS THAT WERE JUST HILARIOUS! I was giggling so much that my husband abandoned the marital bed for the night seeking quieter pastures- even my dog followed him, the traitor!!

Adam was a sweetheart, loved him so! Charlie was an adorable heroine until towards the last third of the book where her insecurities drove me mad but she made up for it at the end....

NOW FOR MY FAVORITE, GRANDMA! GOD I LOVED HER!

“What? You all think that just because I’m old, I don’t know a thing or two about sex? Good Lord. You’d think your generation invented the stuff. I hate to break it to you, but while you were learning to walk, young lady, I was crawling around on all fours. Your father had a cock like a battering ram and more energy than a Duracell bunny.”

I do hope there is a sequel about granny, I think she needs her HEA too!! I will start a petition....

5 STARS! Denture Glue should really come with a warning...

Hold the phone, people!!!

Why in the hell did I let this book sit on my damn que for so long?! When I tell you tears poured out of my eyes, I was laughing so hard; I'm not exaggerating!

There is a very, very small group of authors that can make me laugh out loud continuously like this and I'm happy to say that Ms. Coulson has just joined those ranks!

What I loved: Laughter aside, this group of friends kicked ass! I love reading about friends who not only get each other, are there for each other, but ones that act like they're still in middle school around each other. I can relate to this behavior; I have friends that I behave this way with. Like Charlie, my crew has gotten me through life's biggest hiccups with a good dose of laughter!

Who stole the show: Gran. I think I actually did roll on the floor, laughing. Not a pretty sight... Let's carry on.

Adam = everything you want in a man, right down to his lickable traits. ;) He was such a rock to Charlie.

Adam + Charlie = Oh, holy hell (Need I say more?).

In closing, If you need a pick me up (or make me drop and roll . . . still not pretty) that will have you laughing yourself into a frenzy, and a great HEA . . . Then is the book for you!

Marie, I can't wait to check out your other books! Bravo, chickie!

Review:

This was a seriously great read!! I received this as an ARC from the author and then decided to join the tour as well. I laughed so much with this book...It was perfect!

Charlene Winters is a girl with some serious confidence issues. After being dumped by her fiance on freaking Christmas...things went a bit south for her. We all know what its like to have out heart broken by the one that we thought was the love of our life...its hurts. From personal experience...I thought I was going to die when my first love broke my heart.

After her break up, Charlene seems lost. While trying to figure herself out, she realized that she lost herself during her relationship with the sleaze ball Brad. She has gained some weight..putting that saying about girls gaining weight when they are in love. But seriously, this Brad guy was a total weirdo!!! Germaphob..I mean the things he made her do just to have sex...WTF!?!? lol

"You're better off with that slug as far away from you as possible.  He's a creep, and someone needs to throw salt on him and watch him sizzle away into a slimy puddle."

Charlene has some amazing friends. There is Vanessa aka Ness and Dana...these two ladies are awesome. Ness tells it like she sees it, she holds nothing back, I love her. Dana is more of a sweet, caring girl...you could tell she has had her broken a time or two also. Then, we have Adam Fitz...OMG, I loved him. He was so so so sweet and you knew, without giving away any spoiler that he thought the world of Charlene. I wanted them together the moment he first talked. At first, he sounded like a sexy nerd to me...boy oh boy was that not the case.

"Skinny jeans? Was she not paying attention? Squeezing into a pair of those would make me look like a sausage bursting out of its skin"

I laughed so many times and so hard while reading this. The grandmother had me rolling around like a fool laughing my ass off. Hilarious.  When Charlene tries to find herself, she finds herself in these situations that are OMG, like I said...hilarious!!

So, I wanted to give this a full 5 star review but I couldn't. I wont give anything away, so it might be a bit confusing. When Charlene tries to fill her needs as a woman, she found herself in these interesting situations...but something didn't happen. This happened more than once. She is on a search for her prince charming not realizing that he was right there the whole time.

We knew there was going to be something with Adam. They finally give in to certain urges and while yes, Charlene is still trying to figure herself out, I got a bit aggravated that Adam didn't just come out and say what he felt...He gets mad at Charlie and does something SO FREAKING STUPID I honestly wanted to put my kindle down on the ground quietly, stomped the shit out of it and then walk away. I know it was clear this certain thing had to happen for Charlene to realize her true feelings for Adam but come on....even when he tries to say he has a justifiable reason for doing his stupid thing...it was just gross and wrong. It could have been avoided if he just told her and not let her think she was just a friend with benefits.

While I was upset about the whole Adam ordeal, I think what happened after was brilliant. We knew of course it would end happy but what happened to get to that ending was awesome. I loved it.

There was a VERY HAPPY ending. I loved it and I again loved Adam. All the characters were well written and I felt as if I knew them. The writing is smooth and before you know it, your at the end of the book. I couldn't put this down. It was so funny...I love British humor...its my fav.

I highly recommend this book. It is more real than most. Charlene has feelings that most of us have. We have problems with out weight, we have insecurities and we have something that happen to us that makes us want to lock ourselves in our rooms for a life time. The dialogue was great. There was so much awesome banter...I'm telling you, this book is GREAT!!

love-these-guys soup

Excerpt:

Hauling my gym bag beside me, I pushed my way into the gym. The smell of sweat immediately wafted up my nostrils, and I gagged loudly.

Dana cringed beside me.

“Oh my God. Charlene, it smells like crotch in here!”

Snorting a laugh, I held my hand over my mouth and nose. She wasn’t wrong. It wreaked, but the need to lose weight was overruling my need for fresh—or at least less clammy—air. Holding our breath, we made our way through the reception to the large aerobics hall at the far end. If there was ever a fear of us being blinded by old women and their cellulite … we were wrong. A sea of slim, fit, toned, and tall beauties turned and began scanning us up and down.

“I feel naked. Let’s go. We clearly don’t belong here.”

Spinning around, I moved toward the exit, but Dana blocked my path.

“Nope. You wanted to do this, and I bet they didn’t always look like that. Maybe this class really works!”
I furrowed my brow at her

“Do you ever drop that optimistic glass you carry around?”

Dumping her bag on a bench, which was pushed against the white-washed wall, she smiled brightly.

“Nope.”

Well, of course she was feeling good! As she slipped off her coat, I stared at her wide-eyed. Wearing a pair of tight leggings, a sports top that showed off far too much of her toned midriff, Dana was right at home amongst these women. I groaned in displeasure.

“Are you kidding me? Where did you get that body, and how much did you pay for it?”

She tilted her head to the side and tutted.

“You had one, too, ‘til Brad started steamrolling your fitness regime. Remember?”

Did she always have to be right?
A loud clapping pulled me from my jealous glare at Dana and my attention was now focused on the petite, short blonde-haired, and clearly never-ate-a-cake in her life, fitness instructor at the front of the room.

“Hello everyone! It’s nice to see so many familiar faces, and I notice some new ones. Come up!”

I gawped at Dana who shrugged, grabbed my hand, and began dragging me to the front of the class.

“Hi, hello! It’s always nice to have new blood in our class. I’m the instructor, Francesca. Is this your first time at Zumba?”

I stood awkwardly as dozens of eyes stared at me. That’s right, ladies, I’m the fat girl. Every fitness class has one. And you all suddenly feel so much better about yourselves. That carrot you scoffed for breakfast doesn’t look so bad now. Does it?

“No, it’s our first class,” Dana answered.
Oh no. Didn’t she know she had just committed the cardinal sin of fitness class?

“Well, you ladies stay right here up front and follow the routine, you’ll be just fine.”

I was in hell. Not only was I the only chubby girl in the room, I was now the entertainment at the front of the class! Clapping her perfectly manicured hands again, Francesca encouraged people to move into a space as she hit the play button on the CD player. The Brazilian sounds of the lambada filled the room, and I felt sick.
Swaying her disgustingly tiny hips back and forth, Francesca began a routine that looked like it belonged on the stage; not a hall in one of the smelliest gyms in London. Dana, of course, was a natural. Swaying, bouncing, and shaking her pert little arse around the room like a pro, she put the rest of us to shame. Well, I say the rest of us, but I mean me.
I bounced, jiggled, and wobbled myself around that mat as though I had a feather tickler shoved up my arse. I wasn’t sure how this would help me lose a few pounds, but with the flailing of my limbs and sporadic movements of my hips, there was a good chance we’d have rain.

All I can say is “Grab this book!” I was thoroughly entertained while reading Charlene’s story. And I cannot tell you how many times I laughed out loud. Trust me it was many.

Charlene was supposed to be getting married in 3 weeks to her boyfriend of 4 years, Brad. But what does he do?? He breaks it off with her while he’s away in Ireland visiting family during Christmas. Really? What a low-life! A lot is told during this opening chapter of the book and Charlene is heartbroken, devastated & feeling really low. Not to mention, she’s not feeling very good about herself at all. But she has her friends there to help her get through this embarrassing, humiliating “walk of shame”. There’s Vanessa & Dana, her friends since college and then we have Adam. Charlene & Adam have been friends for over 20 years. And I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading about how they met one another back in school.

Adam has always been there for her through everything in her life. He’s funny, honest, has a big heart & would do anything to make his best friend feel better about herself & what life has thrown her way. Oh…and let’s not forget he’s sexy as hell. I loved how Marie Coulson’s words made me feel just what Adam & Charlene have together. I envied the relationship they have. But how doe you go from being best friends for so long to crossing that line. Neither one of them expected things to go this way, but sometimes they happen for a reason. Will their friendship ever be the same? Do these two feel more for each other than just friends and are afraid to admit what is long overdue? This was such a wonderful journey with this group of four friends. Charlene is also a little overweight and lacks self-confidence. It was such a joy to see her pick herself up with the help of these friends in her life & become determined to shed the weight that she had gained over the years. And there are plenty of funny scenes while she attempts it. She also starts to see things about Adam that she hasn’t noticed before.

Adam & Charlene aren’t really sure what to do with themselves other than maybe enjoy the “friends with benefits” relationship while she‘s still looking for Mr. Right. At least this is what Charlene tells him. But Adam has been waiting for years to tell her how he really feels & when he does she doesn’t know what she should say back. Does distance make the heart yearn for what she has always wanted?

And Charlene’s Gran….I cannot forget to mention this elderly woman with such sass & she doesn’t hold anything back in what she thinks. I’m sure you’ll laugh as much as I did when you read the scenes this woman is in. She's a hoot!

Charlene’s ex, Brad, comes back into the picture at the end begging for forgiveness and telling her how sorry he is and that he messed up. Does she go back to him?

At first, reading the title, I wasn’t sure what I was going to be in for. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. I love her and how she carefully crafted this enjoyable and fun book to read. Everything flowed so nicely, the characters and what they were experiencing seemed real to me. And they are some of the best ones I’ve been introduced to. I highly recommend this book to read.

This story was brilliant, hilariously funny and very heart warming. Most definitely a perfect girly read that I'm sure you'll just love.

"Diary of A Dieter" followed the story of Charlene who was jilted by her fiancé just weeks before her wedding day. She was left completely heartbroken and chose to seek comfort in a tub of Ben and Jerry's, chocolate biscuits and a can of whipped cream. That is until her close friends came to the rescue demanding she stop wallowing in self pity. Thank god for friends right?

Charlene did pulled herself together with the support of her amazing friends and began a new journey: a quest to find her "Prince" charming. This journey had me in stitches. The situations that Charlene found herself in were just hilarious. I mean laugh out loud hilarious and I don't think I laughed so much whilst reading since I read "Bridget Jones Diary".

Throughout the story, sitting on the side lines was Adam, Charlene's best friend of 20 years and he was delicious. He was so lovely to her, supporting her through all of her ups and downs and constantly boosting her self esteem:

"...My whole life is a joke. Look at me."
"I am looking at you . I'm always looking at you, and do you know what I see? I see a fun, gorgeous, sexy and incredibly amazing woman."

Adam made my heart melt. It was so obvious that he had hidden feeling for Charlene but sadly Charlene only saw him as her best friend. I was so gutted for him.

The characters were fabulously written and I have to mention Charlene's Grandmother who was extremely funny. Her comments throughout the story cracked me up!
" You really are as blind as a beggar. There is a perfectly good specimen of a man hanging around you like a puppy and there's you acting like a bitch in heat and ignoring the dog that's been dry humping your leg for years. And they say I'm senile."

I won't say anymore because I don't want to spoil the story for you. You'll need to read the story for yourself to see if Charlene ever finds her "Prince" and gets her HEA. "Diary of a Dieter" is a book I would whole heartedly recommend. I could easily see this book making a brilliant film. I'd love to see Charlene's escapade's on the big screen.

Diary of a Dieter was a book full of fun that left me with a big cheesy grin and a warm fuzzy feeling. Of course I have to give this 5 big hearts. Thank you Marie Coulson for making me laugh my socks off!

I really enjoyed this book. I liked Charlene, Adam, and their friends. There were some seriously funny parts and the Grandmother cracked me up (she was priceless!). Charlene had some really interesting dating adventures. Oh my! There were quite a few times I laughed out loud.

The first half of the book had a slow build laying out the story and the second half just flew by! It was funny, emotional, had some sexy times in it, and slightly heartbreaking on occasion. I was on the edge of my seat by the end and totally invested.

I really loved how Charlene grew and came to her senses. I wasn’t a fan of her self deprecating attitude but since she had gone through so much I completely understood where it came from. I was glad to see her accept and really embrace herself and by the end she was so much stronger for it.

And Adam? I love Adam. I *LOVE* Adam. Sweet and sexy. He was a great character! There was one time where I might have yelled at my Kindle about something he did but he redeemed himself by the end.

I would totally recommend this book for a fun, lighthearted, make you laugh out loud read!

If I could give this book six stars I would. This book had me laughing out loud more than a few times! I felt like Charlene was so real I wanted to call and give her advice. I adored her relationship with Adam. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a good laugh, especially if they have ever been dumped.

***eARC provided by the author for an honest review***

I am not going to lie I was a bit scared to read this book. Not because I didn't think it would be phenomenal no no, its the fact that Marie's last book (and don't get me wrong I fucking loved the hell out of it, I mean Ollie... nuff said!!!) was like 600 pages. I mean I love the fact that she wrote all about my love (Ollie) but yeah thats like 2 books in one. Have no fear I do believe she is leaving those 600 page books for my man Ollie. How many times can I speak about Ollie. Idk but I should stop since this is not about Ollie.

I knew I was going to love this book as soon as I finished the first page. I was like OMG seriously? I was already in the mood to punch a douchnozzle! Who the fuck did this arse think he was. OMG I laughed my ass off when Charlie was telling him off. Oh you wanna know who the douchnozzle and Charlie are? I can give you this since it won't give away the book. Douche is Brad he is supposed to marry Charlene or rather Charlie. In the opening scene he is breaking off the wedding and we come to find out he is a cheater and basically tells her its her fault because she is fat!

I know right. And worst of all the dick does this over the phone! I was already yelling at him saying...

I won't continue because you need to read what else happens. But I love Charlie's friends, Ness and Dana. They are there for her and you all know I love it when the protagonist has BFF's she can lean on.

And then there is Adam! God Marie what have you done to me???? I had to keep repeating to myself....I love Ollie....I love Ollie....I love Adam errrr Ollie. I mean seriously I was all over that guy. He's is Charlie's BFF and gah he melted my heart. He was a great addition to the story. I think I need to continue my mantra of I love Ollie's becasue Marie has hit this one out of the park with Dr. Adam...yeah I said Dr. Damn you Marie!!

I also loved Charlie's Grandma. I about died laughing when she spoke at dinner. I am pretty sure this will be me when I am that old.

After her bad break up, Charlie decides to get into shape. I never laughed so hard. I love this book. I love the way Marie wrote this character. I could see myself in Charlie. This book is just

I could literally sit here all day and go on and on about this book. I wont because well for one I would probs fall deeper in love with Adam. Two... I would defo do spoilers and you all know I hate to spoil any book and three I would just continue to gush about Marie and the wonderful job she did with this book. Let me put it like this...Not since Tara Sivec's Chocolate series have I laughed like this.

Move over Bridget Jones, Charlene Winters has arrived!

I hate oral sex. It makes me uncomfortable. Not only do I feel totally on edge at the thought of being so exposed, but I spend the entire time worrying about the smell, taste, and appearance of my lady flower. Yes, I said lady flower. I know what you’re thinking, there was nothing flowery or fragrant about that particular area of the body, but mine certainly opened seasonally!

A proper British read, this is a RomCom had me full on belly laughing from start to finish with amazing characters, a precious, heartfelt storyline and some hilarious dialogue. It was a cross between Bridget Jones’ Diary and Love Actually (which is one of my all time favourite films), and just as good as both! I’m seriously considering lobbying for this book to be turned in to a movie as it feels like it belongs on the big screen!

The humour wasn’t over the top or over sexual (although there was a little sexual humour which had me close to peeing myself), it was just real, and down to earth, showing some…unfortunate situations which Charlene always seemed to find herself herself in!

After being dumped 3 weeks before her wedding, and on Christmas day no less, Charlene is devastated! Left with nothing but three extra dress sizes and a broken heart, her friends are determined to get her out of her funk and back in the dating game. However, finding her Prince Charming is a lot harder than Charlene first thought, which she very quickly discovers after some less than successful first dates and casual hook ups. Sexually frustrated and in some serious need of an orgasm, Charlene finds herself turning to the one person who is always there for her…Adam!

Charlene was an amazing character! Completely down to earth and likeable, I wanted to be friends with her! She was such a nice, genuine, beautiful person, however, she was also insanely insecure when it came to her body and was determined to get back to her sexy size 12 and find a man, desperately afraid of ending up alone.

The situations which Charlene often found herself in, and the way in which she reacted to them had me constantly laughing out loud. I’m not going to tell you what happens and ruin it, let’s just say that she get’s herself in to some ‘sticky’ situations… ;-)

Not only was I completely and utterly sexually frustrated, I had just had my leg dry humped like a damn dog and been blinded by a premature ejaculation!

She is so blinded by her need to move forward and meet her Prince Charming that she doesn’t see the good thing she has in front of her, which frustrated me to no end as through this, drama was created.

Adam was amazing! A genuinely nice, sweet guy, he has been there for Charlene through every bad decision and break up, helping her to pick up the pieces and get things back on track. From the beginning it obvious that he would do anything for Charlie…what was even more clear was that he was hopelessly in love with her, and she didn’t seem to notice.

Despite all her hang ups, Adam made Charlene feel beautiful and only loved her more because of her imperfections, this seriously had me swooning!

“If I’m in a restaurant, and I order steak, I expect to dine on a juicy piece of meat. I don’t want to gnaw on a bone. You, Charlie, are a feast for my eyes, a succulent sexual fulfillment for my appetite…”

This book doesn’t just have humor but also some great angst! Towards the end of the book especially, I found myself almost flinging my iPad across the room I was so frustrated by what was going on. The situation between Charlene and Adam kept me guessing as although I was sure he liked her, it wasn’t always so clear how Charlene felt, which makes her arrangement with him all the more drama filled!

The relationship between Charlene and Adam made this book so much more than the humor which initially made it stand out for me. Through everything they were best friends first and each would do anything for the other. However, when an arrangement is made between the two, things begin to change, as the lines begin to blur and Charlene begins to question what she really wants.

I don’t normally do ideal castings as part of my reviews but as I want this book to be turned in to a movie so much, I’ll make an exception! I could see no one other as Charlene than Christina Hendricks (with a British accent of course), she is curvy, busty and beautiful, with Charlene’s fiery red hair, I can’t picture anyone else for the part. Adam’s a little harder, but I could picture Orlando Bloom playing him. He has that smart, sexy look about him that I can imagine Adam having so I think he would be a great fit!

An easy going, down to earth, fun, feel good read, DIARY OF A DIETER is one of my favourites of this year so far! I loved all the characters and genuinely cared about each one as if I knew them and would love for the author to continue with this series as although Charlene gets her HEA, there are still so many more hilarious things she could do, and if not her, Ness and Dana still have a story to tell…

I would HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone looking for a light read with some serious humor!
Now I am going to go and crack open a tub of Ben and Jerry’s and watch Bridget Jones and Love Actually!

My Review

Hilarious, truly laugh out loud moments!

Let me just say that Diary of a Dieter has been one of the funniest books I have read in awhile. This is truly the type of book that I can picture being turned into a movie. I know that I would definitely go see it.

Charlene, the main character grows from a jilted bride to a princess with the help of her friends. I love that her character is so real. She has her insecurities just like any woman has. She is a big curvy girl who has let herself go while dating Brad, her extremely germaphobic ex-fiancee. A sudden unexpected Christmas breakup turns her world upside down. Her best friends Dana, Nessa and Adam are truly lovable characters. In fact, they are the perfect supporting characters. They are there to help Charlene move on with her life and find her Prince Charming. Her adventures with her friends were funny, well written and made the story totally enjoyable.

Adam, what can I say? I loved him from the start. He has been Charlene's best friend for over 20 years. Who knows Charlene better than Adam? While Charlene only sees a friend in Adam, he sees who she really is and helps her realize this throughout the story. I guess I thought of Adam as the ugly duckling. Read the book and you will see why.

I can't forget to mention the Grandmother. This woman is totally hilarious. I know I looked forward to family moments when she would make an appearance and share her comical experiences on life and sex. She has a way with words that will make your jaw drop.

Most of this story is focused on Charlene moving on with her life. During that time, her experiences and encounters with men are entertaining. I mean, some of the things that happen to Charlene on her dates are unbelievable, yet extremely funny. So, let's just say, "Watch out for denture glue."

I cannot forget to mention that my heart skipped a beat while I was reading about the sexy band member with the lip ring. OMG, Yes, Ollie and his band D.O.A. are mentioned in this story. I am totally #Team Ollie. (from Bound Together & Burning Up) I always love when authors bring in characters from other books they have written.

While this story is filled with humorous situations, there is a love story in there as well. Every woman wants her Prince Charming and deserves a happy ever after. I do hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did.

I gave this book 5 stars and highly recommend it. It is a brilliantly written romantic comedy!

I look forward to other books in this series.

"I cannot believe that I am going to spend Christmas day as an abandoned bride! There has to be some unwritten law somewhere about that. Like never dump on their birthday, or Valentine's Day, or the day their pet dies. You know something like that. And then there's all that cancelling and telling everyone that I got dumped!"ou

"Happily ever after should mean just that. That they make you so happy that you can't imagine ever being happy without them. They should make you walk on air, glide on air currents, and turn you inside out. You are worth far more than 'as happy as you can be.' You Charlene Winters, are destined for an epic love story. You deserve one.

"What? You all think that just because I'm old, I don't know a thing or two about sex? Good Lord. You'd think your generation invented the stuff. I hate to break it to you, but while you were learning to walk young lady, I was crawling around on all fours. Your father had a cock like a battering ram and more energy than a Duracell bunny."

"You mean I'm not made of plastic? Wipe-able? Or maybe you prefer your women a little more two dimensional. Like a porno magazine! You should come with a health warning and a pair of fucking goggles!"

"If I'm in a restaurant, and I order steak, I expect to dine on a juicy peace of meat. I don't want to gnaw on a bone. You, Charlie, are a feast for my eyes, a succulent sexual fulfillment for my appetite, and if you would just be quiet and stop fighting me, I'm about to enjoy some dessert."

Holly's 5 Star Review

How to put into words just how much I loved this book . . . I'm honestly not sure that I can. Diary Of A Dieter has sky rocketed it's way to my favourite read of 2013! It was truly, 110% fantastic and I would recommend this book to everyone and anyone. With a heart-warming storyline, loveable characters and hilarious dialogue, this latest novel by Marie Coulson is one not to be missed!

When Charlene receives a call from her fiance and partner of 4 years to say he is leaving her (on Christmas day!!!!) she is understandably devastated. But while on holiday dressed as Cinderella with her best friends Dana, Ness and Adam, she realises there is life after boring Brad and sanitary sex. After a string of attempted one night stands end in denture fix in places one should NEVER get denture fix and a cum shooter in the eye, Charlie is ready to give up searching for her lost orgasm. That is, until she gets it from the most unexpected of people.

First, his hands on my thighs, then me staring at his chest through his shirt, and now this! I was either going crazy, or I was so desperate to get my coochie filled, that my body was even considering Adam as a perspective plumber!

I heard from a fellow blogger and friend that this book was funny but I honestly had no idea just how funny it would be. I'm talking page after page of near enough non-stop laughter. The dialogue alone is worth the 5 Stars that I rated this book! Some of my favourite quotes coming from Gran. She may be in her eighties but she was pure filth! Seriously! I was part dying with laughter and part dying with embarrassment. She was a little granny slut but I freaking loved her!

"What? You think just because I'm old, I don't know a thing or two about sex? Good Lord. You'd think your generation invented the stuff. I hate to break it to you, but while you were learning to walk, young lady, I was crawling around on all fours. Your father had a clock like a battering ram and more energy than a Duracell bunny."

Charlie was really easy to relate to. I mean, how many of us have gorged on ice cream, biscuits and other comfort food to get over a breakup? How many of us have hang ups over muffin tops and jelly belly? Even though she's technically a fictional character, she's REAL! This whole book is true to life. It's not full of angst and heartbreak. It doesn't have your typical beefed up, tattooed, bad boy, but I wouldn't change this hero for anything! He completely stole my heart.

Join Charlie on her search for a happily ever after and witness her tales and tribulations as she gets there. With leg humping, a B.O.B using gran, sticky sex, a broken glass slipper, a horny French dwarf,  and a Mexican stand off involving Adam, a cat and a toad, this story of Cinderella and her Prince Charming is one fairy tale not to be missed.

**DEBBIE'S REVIEW**

This story grabs you from the get go. Meet Charlene who three weeks before her wedding gets a call from her fiancé on Christmas that the wedding is off!!!

“Brad and I have been together for four wonderful years and engaged for two.”

“Most girls get jewelry or a nice sweater for Christmas. I got dumped.”

Devastated that he called and canceled the wedding she turns to her three closest friends for support and to help her get her life back together.

Let me say I absolutely loved her friends. You have Vanessa, the one that says it just like it is and is as blunt as they come. Then there is Dana, who is more of the understanding one. The chemistry between these three is fantastic. They truly have each other’s backs but are not afraid to throw each other under the bus for a good laugh. Finally you have Adam. Adam and Charlene have been best friends for twenty years and he is Mr. Hottie in disguise. You can tell right away that there is more than just friendship there and that they both don’t want to admit it

“Adam and I had known each other forever, and now he wasn’t just my nerdy doctor best friend, Adam. No. He was hot, sexy, sexpert, make me moan all night, Adam.”

This book is about learning that sometimes when something in your life is devastating and you think things could not get any worse it might actually be a blessing in disguise.

“Twenty years, it had taken me almost twenty years, a broken engagement and a fuck buddy agreement to realize that I, Charlene Winters, am in love with my best friend.”

Charlene’s family is seriously crazy. Her granny is quite a character. She has no filter to what comes out of her mouth and let me say she had me laughing more than once.

“Imagine actually marrying that slimy waste of oxygen. Girl needs a man who will fight for her and fuck her into the ground.”

I connected with Charlene. She has a lot of body image insecurities that most women can empathize with.

“Let’s be honest, Anton, I’m not exactly the most slender of women in this room. I’m a size fourteen with bright red hair and a huge arse. I don’t consider that to ooze sex appeal.”

f you are looking for a book that is full of humor and has some drama and OMG this can’t be happening moments than you want to read this one!

“OH my, God, no! James, that’s denture glue! Those are my gram’s dentures! Not the fucking pill! Jesus Christ, you just shoved a shit load of dental-fix into my hooha!”

I give this one 4 stars because it had me laughing and was a story many can connect with

OMG! This book is hilariously funny. I took this book to bed last night to read, I ended up staying awake until it was finished. I laughed out loud on so many occasions.

Charlene, or Charlie, is just 3 weeks away from her wedding when her rat of a fiancée drops a bombshell. After wallowing in self pity for a while she decides she has to do something about her weight, which has slowly been creeping up.

Charlie's friends, Vanessa and Dana, decide to swap her cancelled honeymoon for something which they can go on together. They are joined by Charlie's best friend, Adam. The scene is set for a dressy, fun time. But maybe not the dress you may be thinking about!

On her return Charlie is determined to get back out there, lose weight and bring some fun back into her life. Oh yes, and have loads of sex with hot guys along the way! After a disaster with her first attempt at a fitness class, Vanessa takes Charlie to something different. All I will say on the matter is this - my thighs actually clenched together when I read what happened at this class! Ouch!

Charlie then decides to have a go at internet dating. Her first date from this leads to what I believe is the funniest scene in the whole book. It is another OMG moment. I will never look at Fixodent the same way again!

Throughout Charlie's journey there are 3 constant elements - her friends Vanessa, Dana and, of course, Adam. The belief has always been that Charlie and Adam are secretly in love with each other and would be great together. But Charlie is adamant, as is Adam it appears, that their friendship is so strong it is all that matters to them. What will happen to their friendship as Charlie's story continues?

I wish I had a granny like Charlie's. She is in her senior years but is not your typical granny. She is foul mouthed, opinionated and not afraid to show it, and takes great pleasure in talking about her sex life as often as she can! She is hilarious and the scenes involving her are very funny to read.

This is a great story which will have you rolling about the floor in laughter. And if it doesn't, then I suggest you may well need a sense of humour injection. I dare anyone to read this without laughing. Highly recommended as a feel good, humorous read. There is, obviously, some sex in it. But it isn't all about sex as so many other books are. This has a great storyline which I totally related to. Hats off to the author for writing this.

Hilariously Funny! Hopelessly Romantic! OMG! I loved this book. It had all kinds of emotions in it. Anger, hatred, love, lust, happiness, sadness, comedic outbursts which had me snorting on the couch! It was so hard to put down, I was up way too late a few nights in a row! If you are in need of some entertainment - give this book a try! And now a bit about the book...

Just jilted, Charlene is in a horrible state. She goes from wanting to kill Brad - whom dumped her on Christmas day over the phone just three weeks before they were to be married - to a sobbing, fat (her words - never mine) mess. The good part? He was a germaphobe, horrible in bed, BORING, and completely not right her Charlie! He also called her friend before he broke up with her so her three BFFs - Adam, Ness, and Dana quickly arrived on the scene. Adam, whom she has known for over 20 years - she saved him from the bully in gym class, agrees to take her to her family Christmas dinner to break the news. This is where we get to hear all the humor from gran - wait til you meet her! Anyway, as Charlie tries to put her life back together she realizes she has gained quite a bit of weight and was now up to 14 stones (just so you don't have to google it - 1 UK stone = 14 US pounds). She used to be curvy, but now - now she was just overly plump and needed to do something about it. Her attempts at Zumba and poll dancing are sidesplitting and painful! Then there is the online dating and dental fix mishap, you don't want to miss it. I'm sure you're guessing at what might come next, but I'm not one to give too much away. Other than the 4 stone Charlie looses under Adam's care. Grab a copy today and see if Charlie ever makes it down the aisle!

Favorite passages:
- "Gran, those weren't crisps. That was potpourri." ... "No wonder my shit smelt like roses for two days,"
- "Rule number three: you will dump every pair of yoga pants and fat girl t-shirts the moment we unpack."
- "Oh my, God, no! James, that's denture glue! Those are my grans's dentures! Not the fucking pill! Jesus Christ, you just shoved a shit load of dental-fix into my hooha!"
- A deep Apollo's belt that led temptingly into his trousers was simply begging to be licked!
- Move over Dr. Atkins. Dr. Fitz had the cure to obesity, and it was a rocking hot sex life!

This book seriously had me in fits!
Me - probably 80% of this book:

And all mostly because of Grandma! She is seriously hilarious, that I demand a book on Grandma! I will even create a petition If I have too, or go on strike! I don't think my husband appreciated me deciding to read this in bed, I was getting all sort of looks but mainly this one:

description

But If you have read and enjoyed this book, you will understand why! Grandma, Charlene, Adam and the rest of the tribe were so funny. I loved Adam. Charlene would tend to piss me off at times, more towards the end but great read, especially if you need something light and for a laugh.

Some Gran quotes:
"What? You all think that just because I’m old, I don’t know a thing or two about sex? Good Lord. You’d think your generation invented the stuff. I hate to break it to you, but while you were learning to walk, young lady, I was crawling around on all fours. Your father had a cock like a battering ram and more energy than a Duracell bunny."

"I never did like that toad of a man. He was all mouth and not enough cock and balls. Girl needs a man who will fight for her and fuck her into the ground."

“And you, Miss Boobs-Bigger-Than-Her-Brain, just because you found a husband stupid enough to put up with your shit, doesn’t mean that Charlene should settle for anything less than what she deserves. Gareth certainly deserves you. I do wonder sometimes if his brains are buried somewhere in those unsightly, and quite frankly, unnaturally large arms of his. He’s as thick as two large tree trunks and is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. You’re for decoration and ornamental purposes, and don’t ever imagine you’re anything more. You’d be terribly disappointed in the big scheme of things. Dress it up however you want dear, but you look like Barbie and Ken on steroids.”

This was such an a fantastic reader. Had it sitting on my kindle for a while and decided it was time to read this. I love Marie’s other books so I knew this would be good. I laughed out loud so many times, this was so refreshing after reading lots of angsty books recently.

Charlie has just been jilted by her fiancé 3 weeks before their wedding day. Turns out he has been shagging a girl he met at work, someone more fun and slimmer than Charlie. Her friends are there to help her pick up the pieces, especially her bestie Adam.

I freaking loved Adam, he was just too cute and the perfect guy. It was obvious he felt more for Charlie, it just wasn’t as obvious to her. He has been her best friend, standing by her side through the last 20 years and he knows her better than anyone.

Charlie dips into the word of internet dating and you will love what happens on her two dates, one incident involves denture glue! After a bit of a disastrous time she comes to an arrangement with a guy she knows to just be FWB but lines get blurred and soon there are feelings involved, confusing Charlie. Her Gran seems to have a knack for telling her like it is though:

"You poor, naive, under-sexed, and overly cautious girl. You really are as blind as a beggar. There's a perfectly good specimen of a man hanging around you like a puppy, and there's you acting like a bit on heat and ignoring the dog that's been dry humping your leg for years. And they say I'm senile." - Gran

The her ex comes back into the picture confusing her more. Should she go back to Brad because he is safe and routine or should she take a leap of faith and listen to her heart for once? Or is it too late?

I have to say there was one moment when Charlie came home from having lunch with Brad and wanted to talk to Adam and what happened made me feel sick to my stomach!!! Marie how could you do that to me?!

I absolutely loved this story and I’m thinking maybe we will get more featuring Dana & Ness?

5 Massive shining stars!

Emma's thoughts: You've read the blurb now here's my thoughts:
Well where to start with this review..... Well lets start by me giving it a well deserved 5 Stars and in all honesty I would give it more if I could!!

Diary of a Dieter is without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read, never have I laughed so much whilst reading, my hubby was giving me strange looks as I was proper belly chuckling laughing out loud, he asked what I was laughing at and as I am trying to tell him I have tears rolling down my face and he is laughing at me......HILARIOUS ~ (Pole dancing is all I’m gonna say), and Gran well don't get me started on dear old Gran who's in her 80's.....man I wish I had a Gran like that, I'd probably be embarrassed but she just says it like it is and then some, what comes out of that woman's mouth is just pure gold...loved it with a massive LOL! All the characters in this book are all so likeable and believable ~ well maybe not Brad, but you'll find out more about the characters when you get your hands on it.
This book quite simply has it all ~ laughter (by the bucket loads), romance, sensitivity and actually reminded me very much of a Bridget Jones type of storyline but different if that makes sense, this would make a cracking film and I reckon would have cinemas ram jammed... let’s hope it gets snapped up!!
I’m not going to put any spoilers in this review and that is simply because you need to read it yourself and I’m not going to spoil it for anyone....this book is a real treat and you will not regret getting it ~ so what are you waiting for.... press one click and get it now!! Just make sure you’ve got a few hours spare coz you ain’t gonna want to put it down... this is a real pick me up read.
All that’s left for me to do is say a massive Congratulations to Marie on an amazing book and I can’t wait for the next one ~ whatever that may be! <3

***I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review***

Charlene is happy; she has a great career, an amazing fiancé, and a great group of friends. What more could she ask for? That is until Charlene’s world is turned upside down just a few short weeks from her wedding day, when she finds out her future husband has been cheating on her (this isn’t a spoiler since you find it out very soon into the book). Left with her career and her friends, Charlene is sent into a spiral trying to find who she really is outside of her relationship. Along with the help of her best friend Adam, Charlene realizes she changed so much from her old self when she got into her relationship and is determined to get back to her glory days. Attempting to diet and get back on the “playing field” Charlene takes a hilarious road trip to happiness and eventually she finds her old self buried under all her baggage and in turn finds the happiness she was so desperately looking for.

I love Marie’s books. Her Bound Together series is amazing and I was really looking forward to this book. The writing was great! I haven’t laughed so hard during a book in a very long time. I laughed so hard I cried a bit. Charlene and her friends are hilarious and you can tell the author spent time thinking up these characters prior to writing the book. Charlene did get on my nerves a little bit and I found myself wanting to tell her what to do, but she needed to be somewhat of a doormat in order for her to get to where she needed to be. The book did start off a tad slow for me but, overall it was a hilarious book that I would recommend for anyone looking to laugh themselves silly!!

Oh my god; this book was freaking hilarious! I found myself absolutely dying from laughter. I laughed out loud more times than I can count!

I freaking LOVED Charlene. She is curvy (side note: thank you Marie for finally creating a sexy heroine that isn't a size two!) she's witty, crazy, messed up and just so damn normal I wish she was my best friend.

"It didn’t matter how hot, sexy, erotic, unbelievable, heart-stopping, leg-trembling and body-shaking the sex had been. We shouldn’t, couldn’t, and wouldn’t be doing it again! It was insanity to have done it at all."

Throughout the entire book Charlene struggles with her personal appearance and self-esteem, most of this because her asshat ex-fiance dumps her and claims part of the reason is because she's too fat. Jerk. So, Charlie spends most of the book learning who she is, and learning to love her self again.

She tries to find love in all the wrong places - bars and online dating - she has some of the worst sexual experiences I've ever heard of. She tries diets and different exercises fads and fails at most of them. In the end though, she realizes she's been loved all along for who she is and she's pretty okay with who she is.

"It wasn’t magic kingdoms, ball gowns, and pixie dust. It was real. It wasn’t happily ever after … but it was pretty damn close. And as far as I was concerned … that was good enough for me"

Such a great, funny, witty, uplifting and inspirational (without even trying) book. Well done!

I absolutely adored this book! It was part sweet, part sassy, part sexy and part heartbreaking. It is the perfect combination of all of the things that make a good story that you don't want to see end!
Charlene's life has been turned upside down. Dumped. Overweight. Alone. She has the support of her friends. What else does a girl need? Oh yeah, she needs laid!
So the mission begins for her to turn her life around. Not only does she vow to lose the extra weight, but she joins an online dating site. Now the fun begins. Mishaps and horrible dates... What else would you expect?
In her quest, Charlene seems to not see what is right in front of her face like everyone else does. Her best friend has pined after her forever. She has relied on him to be her rock, her go-to person in time of need. He wants more, but she can't seem to get the point.
I loved these characters. They all had the right qualities that keep them as a close-knit group. They all pull together when things get tough. They pull no punches with one another. Always the direct, yet support bunch they are.
There are a lot of laughs to be had in this book. I found myself wrapped up in the story. I was sad to see it "end" and cannot wait for the next book to come out!

This book is freaking hilarious!! Pretty much anytime Charlene's grandma was present I was trying not to appear crazy by laughing too loudly. And yes I loved the made up swear words. The whole book isn't laugh out loud funny but it's pretty darn close. It does have its sweet moments, hott moments, and some frustrating moments. The frustrating moments come courtesy of Charlene and her lack of confidence especially towards the end. There is an abundance of awkward moments. And I would say more but that would just ruin the awesomeness of it. But I will say one thing. I will never look at denture glue the same haha.

To me this book reminded me a little of Bridget Jones Diary because it takes place in the UK and both of the women are trying to lose weight to feel better about themselves. But I only saw the movie so that's just my assessment. But I will say this I definitely like Charlene better. Plus she has awesome friends in Ness, Dana, and Adam. The humor did remind me of Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec so if you like that kind of humor than this is the book for you :).

Great read!! I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a funny read!

Charlene “Charlie” Winters! Who did not love this girl? She was real, funny and just a regular woman looking for Mr. Right! Who isn’t!?!??

Seriously, ex-fiance, d-o-u-ch-e-b-a-g, Brad, I was appalled by the way he dumped Charlene. I felt her anger and heartbreak, but god bless her three BFFs–Adam, Vanessa and Dana! They intervened, made her stop feeling sorry for herself, and helped her get back out there to date again. And Adam–I loved Adam. Every girl needs a guy best friend to take care of you, give you confidence and just be there for you!

Diary of Dieter takes you through Charlene’s hilarious dating attempts after being off the market for four years. She goes through disastrous dates in an attempt to find that “one!” We all have horror dating stories, so this book connected with me on many levels and made me think “Oh yeah, been there!” This is a fab weekend read, that makes you realize that sometimes the thing you are looking for is right in front of your face!

This book definitely had some moments that were so funny I had tears!! OMG I will NEVER look at denture cream the same! Not that I ever gave it much attention before, but I will think of this book every time I see a tube of it now!

Charlene is dumped 3 weeks before her wedding. Her 2 best girl friend's and her best friend Adam try to help her move on. Charlene has some ridiculous dates thanks to her gal pals, that end up being so funny you will cry. Even their idea of working out is more than Charlene can handle. Then there is Adam. He is a constant in her life, and always says and does the right thing when she needs him most. He even succeeds in helping her drop the pounds she wants. She always saw him as her best friend for 20 yrs and was blind to what was in front of her. Will Adam suck it up and FINALLY confess his feelings to Charlene? will she feel the same or only see him as her best friend?

This book was different from what I normally read. There were times I did feel it was a little slow perhaps, but overall it had a good story line and made me laugh. This is a book you read when you are having a bad week and just need to feel happy! I give this book 3.75 stars!

Charlene Winters has just been dumped, three weeks before her wedding. To make matters worse it is also right before Christmas. Same old line,'it's not you...it's me.' Poor girl! Naturally she is devastated! Charlene soon discovers that like most women out there, she was so comfortable in her relationship she let herself go and gained a few pounds. With the help of her three best friends Charlie embarks on her weight-loss journCey where she discovers herself and possibly new love...

I don't want to give you too much of a summary because I really think you should go buy this book. As a woman who is currently on a journey to be fit I found myself completely relating to the heroine of the story. Well not completely, I hope I never have some of the mishaps she did. Honestly I will never think of denture glue the same again errr not that I ever thought of it much! I was immediately pulled into the story and towards Charlie. This book was seriously hilarious, I laughed till I cried! I did not want the book to end. This is one of my new favorites and I know if you read it, it will become one of yours too!
