I read a lot of books and this series was very refreshing to me. I though the writer did a excellent job on describing the times and hardships of the times of traveling west during the 1850s. Loved how we got to follow the lives through the years and friendships. Maybe I wouldn't have timed it exactly during the Custer invasion because it took away from the everyday struggles of living as an Indian, (and that was the good part) that in itself would have been enough to keep the reader interested without having to include the huge historical massacre, there was no way to do it justice without revealing more characters.
Over all I give it a 4plus stars because it was written with such descriptive characters, notable animals and lasting love of family without too much gore or to many sex scenes.

Before sundown

One of the best western trilogy I read with greatly developed c characters covering the broad sweep of the history and opening the 19th century century western USA. The author covers the changing relationship between the races and ethnicities and the development of transportation in the US , the Bb t.

Terrible grammar in places. Historical inconsistencies (kitchen ranges weren't available

Until after the War of the Rebellion ) . Would not recommend this trilogy unless one were stranded or snowed in.

I really enjoyed this series. It taught me a lot about the indians, their ways, and how badly the government treated them. It was also a good love story spanning over 50 years.

I read this book much like I read the first two; as fast as I possibly could. The author has weaved such a beautiful tale, that I couldn't wait to find out if he finally found Breanne.

The book begins nearly 15 years after we see Sarah and Luke head west. During this time, they build a ranch that flourishes, get married and build a life together. They have a daughter that they name Abigail after Luke's mother, but she passes within a week of her birth. Sarah is his partner in every way, and it sounds like they had a happy existence together until she suddenly passes after a short bout with pneumonia. Throughout their life, Sarah had been corresponding with a friend named Anne Budd that she was rather secretive about..... and then the twists begin. Among other things, Luke fights for the right to purchase his land (that he had been "squatting" on), finds a new wife, and continues to look for Breanne.

I raced through this book in one day. I couldn't put it down and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. It was thoroughly entertaining.
