I think Conner suffers from guilt more then grief. I don't see any grief from any character in this book over Riley's death. Lane declared his love for Riley many times, I just don't understand how he can turn it off and not even grieve. There really is no mention of how Lane took Riley's death in this book. It was like their love never existed. Lane was one of my favourite characters, not so much now. Disappointed over how the storyline with Riley, Lane, Gresh and Conner ended.

Series review.

Some parts were better than others, and for a lot of this series I was cursing and wanting to throw my iPad, but I read the lot. I still can't believe I did (a wee bit of skimming involved - don't think i missed much). Like a train crash—needed to see it all play out for some godforsaken reason. The end of book 5 had me so close to giving it a 1, for the lot, I was so cranky! But seeing as I was drawn along for the whole ride I will average it at 2. But it was JUST okay.

I liked how we got closure for all the couples who featured in this series. Great that the guys became fathers and that the epilogue took us 10 years into the future and to see the kids growing up.
However, I was confused as to the bit with Grant in the Bahamas and really dont understand the purpose of that. I know Matthew is in Colorado so we can only assume he is part of the Colorado series.

Note: This review is for the series and as such, does not contain a lot of detail about the plot because it would be way too spoilerish! If you want to know more about the specifics of each book, check out the blurbs.

The Texas Soul series consists of six books which I pretty much read back to back.

The series starts with Texas Rough which focuses on one couple, Lane and Gresham, and is largely set on Gresh's family ranch where Lane is the foreman. It also introduces another main character, Riley, who falls hard and fast for Lane. This first book is fast moving with lots of multiple storylines. There are themes of coming out and comfort/hurt with large amounts of drama and even larger amounts of sex!

The second book, Texas Hard, focuses more on Riley as he deals with his feelings for Lane but meets and falls for Connor who is a Texas Ranger. This story brings in some elements of bondage as Riley takes a more dominant role in his relationship with Connor. Falling in love happens so quickly, as in the first book, that it is hard to believe that Riley really knows his own heart and it is amazing how open these men are in discussing their feelings! Once again, lots of drama, largely driven by insane amounts of jealousy as the story and relationships get complicated. I liked the story but did find the edition of the book I was reading had some annoying editing/spelling issues. There was also reference to speaking "Brazilian" in Brazil. I thought they spoke Portuguese.

Texas Twist sees things get even more complicated. We are introduced to a new romance as Connor's Texas Ranger partner moves to the ranch to recover from the trauma of his abduction. He falls for Sterling, one of the ranch hands. Sterling finally acknowledges he may be gay as he has such as strong reaction to Erick. The believability is a bit lacking as his actions dont seem those of a relucant gay man. He is pretty physical with Erick, demonstrative and once again discussing feelings. This new relationship is not the primary focus of the book. The Lane/Gresh/Riley/Connor relationship plays a really key role in this book.

The soap opera feel continues as Jung-Hwa "Jump" joins the story in Texas Branded. Jump comes to the ranch in search of his father. He not only finds family but finds love with the local deputy. The love in the story is sweet and gushy with poetic language and once again this couple are very open with their emotions, articulating their feelings for each other. The relationship development also continues the theme of fast, fast, fast - love and proposals all happening really quickly. The relationships of all the previous couples continue to weave in and out of the book and things really ramp up with a cliffhanger ending! Luckily I didn't have to wait and could launch into the next book straight away. If I'd read this book when it was first released and had to wait for the next book I would have been really annoyed as I don't have the patience for this kind of thing!

Texas Desire is the fifth book in the series and the drama hit new heights. Lots of heartbreak and angst, hospitals and deathbeds, emotional declarations, rejection, pain and loss. The new couple, Kip and Jamie, play a role but largely take a backseat to the more emotional story line being played out between the original four characters.

And finally, Texas Legacy concludes the story. Once again, there is very much a soap opera feel to the story with the overlapping stories of each of the characters. There is lots of heartbreak but also happiness as new love is found and families started. It was nice to see the final conclusion and know what happens to each of the couples. The epilogue jumps ahead ten years and provides closure. My main issue with this final book was the resolution of the story line introduced in the prologue. The prologue deals with the previously unknown and unrelated Wild Bluff Ranch and then the character from the prologue turns up later in the book in a relatively stand alone fashion with a story line that is unresolved. I now understand from the author's blog that this will be a spin off series but when I first ended the book the inclusion of the story line seemed a complete mystery to me.

So overall I actually enjoyed the series. It was pure escapism and really over the top at times. I have mentioned a soap opera feel but I think I must have been in the mood for reading something like this and I quite enjoyed the drama, the romance and the complications. Probably my main complaint (not that it is really a complaint as such) was that it was too full of sex. There seemed to be sex on every second page! The guys just seemed to alternate between sharing deep emotions and then doing each other.

I was also totally impressed with the price point, each book in the series only being $0.99 from Amazon.

3.5 stars for the series

What a great way to end the series. Seeing all the couples happy where they are at. I recommend reading the Colorado Heart series after this one. You’ll be glad you did.

I thought this was a very dramatic and wonderful end to such a fantastic series. I love how it led into the possibility of something new on the horizon in Colorado.

You sort of get three stories in this one plus a small introduction to a new character giving us hope for the new series coming.
Story 1: is the continuation of Lane and Gresh. After all they have been through their love is as strong and beautiful as ever. Gresh is struggling from his injuries form the accident and Lane is there to support him through it all. They also decide they are ready to begin a new family and want to adopt, then Gresh decides he wants a surrogate and have Lane be the father. Everything goes smoothly until the surrogate sees first-hand how ill Gresh is.
Story 2: Is Conner. This one is heartbreakingly sad. Since Riley’s death, Conner has gone downhill with drinking himself to death quitting his job and holing up in his house. Suicide could be on the horizon f he doesn’t get help soon.( I wont say much since this could have spoilers if you haven’t read the first 5 books.) Mike has always loved Connor and won’t stand by and watch him drink himself to death. He hopes he can save Connor and perhaps even have a relationship in the future.
Story 3 is Kip and Jamie form the last book.
Kip is very suspicious of Jamie’s recent actions. Jamie has been going into town a lot and acting secretive. He is afraid that Jamie still wants women since he has just found out he is bisexual. He finds Jamie with a woman in town that is pregnant and telling everyone the baby belongs to Jamie.

So as you see there is a lot going on and I barely touched it. We also meet Grant, though barely, while Gresh and Lane are in the Bermuda’s on vacation.

I really thought this was a great conclusion with lots of dram tossed in. I would have liked to seen more of Grant but I have the feeling I will get my wish.

If you like cowboys and drama and a great series finally and have read most of this series this book is a must!

If you like a series full of drama, mystery, suspense, broken men, cowboys, secret agents, Texas Rangers, and lots of hot mansex you should read Texas Soul you can get the entire series here:

The entire Texas Soul series, by Sara York, is amazing!!! It's the first mm series I ever read and it will always remain one of my all time favorite series.

The series starts with Book One - Texas Rough, where we get to watch Lane and Gresh fall in love. And, I have no words to explain how much I love these two men!

Gresh is the rich and powerful ranch owner, who never expected to fall in love with his foreman, Lane. But fall he does. And hard. He has to fight off the town's new doctor though, as Riley also has his eyes on Lane.

This book is perfect! It completely sucked me in and I had to read the whole series within a couple of days. I could not get enough of these men. And, luckily, the series continues to take place on the ranch, so we continue to see Gresh and Lane in each book, both in and out of their bedroom. As well, each book adds new characters to the ranch, and we get to know them all well.

Rich ranch owner, ranch foreman, doctor, ranch hands, and more. This series has it all. Sex in the open, cowboys coming out, danger and more. There's injuries, jealousy, some swapping, and oh so much fun.

Sara York manages to deliver some extremely memorable and steamy scenes in each book, including one of my all time favorite sex scenes. Just a little fun with two couples swapping. Yummy!

Basically, if you haven't read this Sara York series, do so now!

This is the last book for the Texas Soul Series. I read and enjoyed every book in this series. I thought all the books were well written with just the right amount of cliffhanger to keep you coming back. I thought Sara York gave all the characters the respect they all deserved even with their character flaws and through all their up and down periods that weren't so charming. This was a true cowboys series even when the character wasn't a cowboy, he was a cowboy in his field. From Gresh and Lane whose love story was breathtaking. To the new and wonderful relationship of Connor and Mike. She touched on so many subjects with this great story. From gay bashing to just plain bullying. From family rejection to family acceptance. My favorite was the gay wedding ceremony. I've never seen one with the words spoken between characters quite like this one and I thought it was amazing. Also there was lots of adoptions going on. So if you want to read the rest of the story and find out what happened to your favorite characters from this terrific series you must buy this last wonderfully written good bye to our men. With respect to her fans she gave us an ending that answered all our questions.

Though I feel bad giving the last book in a series that I've liked only two stars I sadly feel that's all it deserved. I'm so disappointed to see the series end this way.

Lane & Gresh .... check
Kip & Jamies ... check
Conner & Mike .... check
things people are feeling and the psychology behind the feelings.. check
Riley .... check
Jump & Bruce...oh wait,I guess they need to be included somehow...check
Hamilton ..... ah, who cares
New characters to set up the new series....check
Mention the connection to the new series....check
Huge, timeline jump to make the connection work.... check....

...well, hold on a minute with that check...

(except I've already read some from that series and)

.. sorry but if memory serves me right that time line doesn't quite fit into the timeline with what we were told here about the situation with Grant. Hmmm..... Hopefully my memory is just failing me again.

~sigh~sigh~sigh~

This is story of Lane and Gresh but you also get a lot of sub stories of other characters thrown in. But Ms. York does a wonderful job of blending them so it's not confusing.

It heartfelt and touching the love between these two ppl even though Gresh feels less them whole after an accident.
The only confusing thing is, as far as I could tell from Ms. York's website this is bk 1 but there is a lot of back story that I was missing. She does tough on it throughout the bk but I do feel like I missing a bk or a prequel somewhere I should have read first? You aren't completely lost but it would have helped.

This series was recommended to me and I absolutely continue on!

Now that it is all done, I'm glad I read this. I grew very fond of many of the characters.
It was nice that everyone (except Riley) got a happy ending. Not just at the time, but you got a little glimpse into the future.

I don't understand the sniper? or whatever he was, in the story. It didn't really take shape into anything.

This series had it's ups and downs...but over all, I enjoyed the ride.
Some books left me pissed off. Some books, would drop down to ridiculous and I'd be cursing, but somehow by the end I'd end the book pleased with the direction.

This was a nice close to the series.

I hated to see this series end but I think the author knew it had to sometime. Thanks for telling the stories of Connor and Mike, Lane and Gresh, Bruce and Jump, Kip and Jamie, Erik and Sterling, and of course Riley. Although I was upset that Riley died too soon but in the end it may have been necessary in order for Connor and Mike to build a life together and for Lane to get on with his life with Gresh. If you are thinking of reading this series I suggest reading from the begining to get to know the characters.

Book 6 of the series. This one ties up the story of the guys at the ranch and the friends. Connor finally decides to accept Mike's love in his life and become what He needed. Lane and Gresh went through a lot , but after the forgiveness became a better couple. Jump and Bruce were solid since the beginning and continued strong. That also for Sterling and Erick ... Jaime and Kip got married ... Kids became the center of their families. I like the conclusion of the series. Tragedy, love , forgiveness and most of all ... Understanding ...

The last in this Texas Soul series, I think, is the one that's as good as the first two. I really don't like the ways these characters change after they come out. Lane goes from being a hard nosed cowboy to a flaming queen in just a few books. And, this couple Erick and Sterling go from never being with another man to saying "i can see the desire in your eyes baby"within the first encounter. Erick is a Texas Ranger who just came off a difficult mission, I just can't see him doing or saying some of this dialogue. I do like the way they all fight to stay together and work things out

What a brilliant finish to a fantastic series, i read about 280 books a year and few books or series stay with me after i have finished them. I'm more than happy to say that this series makes the cut, Gresh, Lane and Co are most definitely on the to be read again list.
I loved the Colorado twist thrown into the mix and seriously hope that this is not the last we see from the guys at Crazy Hills.

This was another great series. I loved the characters. My only disappointment was that the editing could of been better. I understand getting a name mixed up every once in a while, but numerous times and with different characters throughout the entire 6 book series was a bit much.

Over all I am still giving the entire series 5 stars, because I couldn't put it down. There were a couple nights when I said enough is enough at 4 in the morning, and had to get some sleep.

Sara York takes the worry's of all the Guy's she has given us in Texas Soul and fills Legacy with kids and positive lives lived. You get to see that everyone learns to deal with what is given to them in their lives, It is not always pretty but can be dealt with as in real lives. So loved this series because Sara gives you the good with the bad.

Thanks Sara York & Good Writing

Mixture here - I like how Mike didn't just fall into bed with Conner as that seemed to happen with every other couple. The Jamie and Kip storey continued on a nice path. I couldn't get over how Lane never even mentioned Riley's death. I know he had essentially dumped him in book 5 but he had been in love with him before Gresh's accident. It's just odd that....nothing not a peep. Oh well.

Let's throw everything including the kitchen sink, including a character who has nothing to do with anything at all and wrap up with a pretty bow. I'm not surprised the series ended the exact same way as it started, without any substance.
