**NOW ONLY AVAILABLE AS PART OF LURED: HOLLOWAY PACK 2**

Guilt is a heavy burden for the one carrying it.

Jem Stonehouse is no exception to this rule.

What if she’d acted sooner? What if she’d fully recognised the threat? What if she hadn’t allowed the male pack members to head into the witches’ ambush?

For one, youngest pack member Josh Larsen wouldn’t be trapped in the sleep of the dead.

Now, Jem is convinced it’s her job to bring him back to life no matter what it takes—learning more about her heritage, risking pack exposure, or travelling to places she couldn’t have imagined possible.

Even if the journey endangers her soul.

Resonance (Holloway Pack #2.5) by J.A. Belfield

Resonance is short story around the Holloway Pack series. J.A. Belfield writing is good, the story and the characters flow well, easy to read and it was a well written short story. To me it was a bonus before book 3 is released.

Resonance continues right where Blue Moon ended, it is short so it doesn’t take much time to read and worth grabbing a copy.

There is some new information in this story and of course we get to read about Jam and Sean. The scenes between these two are great.
All I can say without giving anything away is this is a series to pick up and read.

J.A. Belfield has written a great short story and I recommend the Holloway Pack series to anyone who enjoys the paranormal genre. I rated it a 4 star rating.

I knew It, I knew It, I knew It, I knew It!

Resonance is the WAY TO SHORT, heart breaking, hungering, pulse fastening, amazing, loving, tear jerking (which is a real achievement for a novella of only 80 pages), fairytale ending, plot twisting, novella to keeps us (Holloway pack lovers) satisfied until Caged gets published.
The only thing wrong with this is, it only leaves me wanting Caged even more! (if this is even possible)

I was so glad I had this to move straight onto following the climax of Blue Moon considering Josh was left in the ‘sleep of the dead’ comatose like state. In this we feel the depression of the pack as time moves on and Josh remains in a sort of stasis, everyone is feeling the burden of guilt and of course Jem has taken it the worst….. if only she’d made them listen, if only she’d stopped the witches before they started, if only she’d gotten to them quicker, if only, if only….and its affecting her & Sean too as he feels her burden along with his own. It’s killing them all to wait around and do nothing except keep a vigil in the hopes Josh will awaken and even though Jess is hard at work searching for a spell to counteract his predicament – nothing is forthcoming. Jem is prompted by Jess to go and seek out a Grimoire at a shop that had her binding spell in so Jem, Sean & Ethan head out to do a little recon and discover something a bit more than what they originally went looking for but with Grimoire in hand and Jess on the case, it isn’t long before a plan is hatched – only it puts Jem at risk again, but with no other hope…. They have to risk it.
So, as I mentioned – I was so glad to have this to move onto straight away – and this was an excellent addition to a great series. I love a good short story and loved that it was about helping Josh because the ending of book 2 had left his fate in limbo. I thought book 2 had introduced a bit more magic but this opened the world up even more and again gave a different feel to the story. I liked what happened all of the way through the story; the pack were down and depressed and you could feel the absence of Josh throughout, you could feel their despair at having no answers but also hope & faith in Jess that she would come through for them, you could also really feel Jem’s guilt but also her determination to bring him back especially considering her vigil in his room. When more work was needed, a grimoire to find, Jem had no hesitation and I loved the discoveries made upon finding it and when answers were revealed that Jem again came through for everyone, even to the detriment to herself. The story was enlightening in more ways than one, I like how Jess seems to be fitting into the pack, like she was meant to be there and for a 104 pages, it was exciting, intriguing and dangerous, opening up more of the supernatural but still had some passionate romantic moments aswell and I absolutely loved that sneaky little cliffhanger that leaves you with a big fat grin =D

I read Blue Moon (Holloway Pack#2) last year and really liked it. So as soon as Resonance was in my inbox, I started and finished it within the same day. Yeah, right, I know. I am kind of impatient when it comes to series I love. Even though I hadn't read either of Instinct (Holloway Pack, #0)Eternal (Holloway Pack, #0.5)Darkness & Light (Holloway Pack, #1)Into The Unknown (Holloway Pack #1.5), Blue Moon worked great as standalone. However, do not mistake that for Resonance. It is not meant as a standalone. You must atleast read Blue Moon first.

Resonance is kind of dark. It's fast, it's visual and it's mind-boggling. The concept is just a little difficult to grab at first but then it sticks to you. I had the movie going on in my head all the time while reading.

The book is such a tease. It almost finished a second after starting. Yes, I felt just like that! I was having a panic attack looking at the inching 100% on my Kindle while going all the time like 'no, no, no'.

As always, you have to love Jem for her strong headedness, her strength and her perseverance. Love the chemistry and playful banter between Jem and Josh.

And I have no idea how to say something else without giving anything away. It's frustrating not being able to go ga-ga over something I really liked. So you better read that book quick so we can have a chat.

On a last note (J. A. Belfield, if you're reading this, I'm done. Go now. Bye.), I wanted to hit the author over her head once I finished reading because by the end, I was craving so much for more of Holloway Pack that it was almost painful. And this short little novella did nothing to quench that thirst for reading more.

First off, I have to make a confession: I was so intrigued by the cover for Resonance I didn't realize this was a series. Yes, I know, silly mistake, but the great thing is after reading Resonance, I didn't make a mistake. I found a new author I really liked and a fantastical world I need to know about.

The Holloway Pack series consists of the full-length novels (in order): Darkness & Light, Blue Moon and Caged and the novellas Instinct, Eternal and Resonance. J.A. Belfield gives just the right amount of information and backstory I was able to follow along. I also liked the paranormal aspects of pack life with the gritty action of urban fantasy. Wolves and witches warring? Very cool. Jem is a solid, realistic character. She's skillful, conniving, inquisitive and determined. And yet she is vulnerable at times and makes mistakes which she owns up to. That's my favorite type of character. I need to catch up on the series because I really want to read about everything leading up to Josh being put into a sleep spell (and I want to see Jem in action seeking retribution with the witches responsible for Josh's condition). When Jem convinces the pack leader to let her visit her sister, I was hooked by her dedication in getting him to give his consent while her inner voice is frazzled by worry.

I was intrigued by the entire part of the grimoire search and how Jem questioned the information in one book. She's not afraid to speak her mind and that's an admirable trait. Her determination to find out more about her binding to Sean lets her find out other things too. I was taken by this story and her journey to the other realm to find Josh. For a fast paced story I enjoyed every minute of learning about Jem, Josh, Sean and Ethan and the pack life. Wolves, witches, spells and secrets makes Resonance a fascinating read and The Holloway Pack a series I need to read asap. (http://www.readergirlsblog.com/2013/0...)

I got a copy for review in exchange for an honest review.

This is a short story, but it doens't feel like one. It continues right after were Blue Moon ended. The story continues and I read it in one sitting, because I had to know what happened. Eevery book in this series is even better than the last one and I can't wait to read what this author writes next!

Normally I don't like short stories, because they have that distinctive short story feel, there just isn't enough story and it feels rushed. Resonance wasn't like that at all, it felt like I just started a new book, okay it was shorter than a normal book, but the writing style felt just like it was a book. I really love how this author has the ability to write short stories, that don't feel like short stories. I liked where the story took us and was surprised at how some things turned out. And the ending was awesome and makes me want to read the next book!

There isn't much room for world building and character development in such a short story, but the author still managed to put in a little of both. We learn some new things about the world, that surprised me. Also we get to see more intereactions between Jem and Sean and how they deal with the situation.

To conclude: I really enjoyed this and how it didn't feel like a short story at all. I liked that the author managed to even include a bit world building and character development. And after reading this I am even more looking forward to the next book.

Seeing as how I just devoured Blue Moon (see my 5 star review HERE), I was THRILLED when J. Taylor Publishing sent me an ARC of the next installment in the Holloway Pack Series.

I knew going in that it was a novella and that it would doubtless be over all too soon, but it was over TOO soon. Not in a bad way – I just wanted more. Can’t get enough of these characters!

Yummies: As with all the Holloway Pack characters, this book is no different. I *heart* them. Especially Ethan, whose own story releases in August this year. Can’t WAIT!!

Love the relationship dynamics – playful, loving, & devoted like a true wolf pack.

This story is short, but the arc rounded nicely. It’s full of tension with a creepy other plane of existence. Even the hot love scene rocked, but was tastefully written. I couldn’t put my kindle down until the last word.

Speaking of which – there’s a nice little surprise in the last line which I saw a mile off, but oh … so excited it happened! Did I say I couldn’t wait for the next book???

Yuckies: *snort* As if.

Recommend: Absolutely.

After finishing Blue Moon I was desperate to read Resonance, so imagine my elation when an E-Arc arrived in my inbox! I promptly devoured this delectable little novella. The story continues on where Blue Moon left off, with, Josh trapped in the sleep of the dead despite the best efforts of Jess and the pack. Revelations abound despite the books diminutive status, family history is clarified, a whole new plane of existence is introduced and a sneak peek of what’s to come is scattered throughout. My only minor gripe is, the pace has been so quick (all the books) that we haven’t really seen Jem reflect much on her situation. How she’s gone from the meek abused wife to strong astral projecting werewolf, killing at will with little remorse. There are big changes afoot for Jem so maybe we will see more of that then. This series is one of my favourites, and I can’t wait for the release of Ethan’s book Caged, I am absolutely positive it will be well worth the wait!

I was given this book with the express intent of giving an honest review. Not that I give any other kind.

First, I'm kinda a big fan of the author. I just love the whole Holloway pack she's created. I also like that the language stays true to where it's set, which is the country the author lives as well. It just wouldn't do first person justice to 'Americanize' the lingo.

Down to the nitty gritty. This is like a 'bridge' between Blue Moon and the next book, Caged. I know a little about Caged so I'm going to inner squee about the introduction of Shelley and Gabe. Okay, back from GiddyFest 2013.

I'll admit that, while it's on my Kindle, I haven't read Blue Moon yet. However, as every author worth their salt should be able to do without a grand info dump, Ms Belfield gives me enough info that I get the gist of what happened and why the characters are in the situation for Resonance.

Jem does her usual scheming which seems to always get ratted out in the end. Nevertheless, she always plans it out. We start the story with her trying to break through to Josh, one of the pack who is in a coma-like state. She reads to him and just babbles. Anything to help him wake up from whatever the witches in Blue Moon did.

In the process, she discovers some more about her bond with Sean and unfurls another mystery surrounding it. Nice intrigue and possible set up for another book without making me roll my eyes. Yes, this technique can be over used. In any account, her sister Jess figures out what is wrong with Josh and the possible solution. The problem is that Jem is the only one that can do it which sends the pack into a bit of a mental state. Females are rare in the werewolf world and losing her would be a huge blow. Stubborn as she is, she says she's doing it anyway and it's really in character for Jem. Her heart is that big. So it's go time for Jem to save the day.

What I like about this book: The ending was strong. Nice build up, especially the rescue of Josh. It really showed how a pack comes together to protect their own. Plus the *cough* Ethan factor.

What I wished for: That the rescue hadn't happened so quickly. I realize, in the grand scheme of things, Sean wouldn't have allowed her to be under for too long but I would have loved a bit more of a battle or stealth to stay away from the baddies. The tug of war, however, in the rescue was very well written. It hooked me with the emotion behind it.

What I didn't care for: Nothing, really. I gave it four stars because I thought there were places where the bones could have used more meat to chew on. That's it.

I still recommend it and all the other Holloway books. Just 'mind the gap' between American and British speak. ;)

MY REVIEW
I received an E-Arc from J Taylor Publishing in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I have already done comments on the cover when I was part of the Cover Reveal but will do a little re-cap and see if my opinion has changed any since reading the book.
This is a series of books I read and love. So the byline says "Guilt is a heavy burden" it certainly is, and the phrase instantly attracts you to the book and makes you want to know more. Like who is guilty? Why are they guilty? Should they be guilty? And now I've read the novella? I think the byline is referring to Jem, who really shouldn't feel guilty, but I can't say more as if you haven't read Blue Moon yet, I may slip and give a spoiler or two. As you know I love a byline and the one on the cover of this book really fits well. Jem is feeling guilty. . . she feels responsible for every single member of her pack, so she will do what ever she has to in order to keep them all well and together.
We have more of Jem's family heritage mentioned in this book and the conformation of who Jess was in a past life, though that was something I had kind of taken for granted already really. I love all the pack related parts in the books, but in this one a different area is looked at, that I have to say I really enjoyed learning more about. The slightly different track this novella goes down makes it stand out a little from the others so far in the series . . is that a good thing? I think so...not that i'll ever ever be bored with the pack! I think this different track is adding even more to the books. We are also learning more about the other pack members, such as Ethan perhaps having a soft spot for Jess. . . which I'd love to see happen. Maybe Jess's children have some sort of "power" ?
I think I have said it before, but I'll say it again, these books do remind me of Kelley Armstrong's Women Of The Otherworld Series, which for me is a good thing as I also love that series too.
So did I enjoy the novella? Yes! Would I recommend? Yes! Read and savour this brilliant writing and storytelling in the order intended by the Author. Will I read more of the Series? Definitely! Would I read other work by J.A. Belfield? I have and I loved that too....in fact I'd love her to make that novella part of a series too.
Last thing to say? I love, love, love the Holloway Pack! I love the whole pack (you know how usually there's maybe one character you are not so keen on, not this pack!)I also love Jess too and am looking forward to learning more about her.

If you haven't started this series yet, seriously try and avoid reading that description! And don't start the series with Resonance. You will definitely be spoiled if you read this one first. :P

That being said, Resonance was a fantastic novella! There was a great plot that was tied together nicely, but also left me seriously anxious for more. The things that Jem experienced in this one were really different from what she's faced in the other books, and I'm interested to see how these new developments will pop up in future Holloway Pack books! :D

As always, Jem and Sean were as awesome as ever, and their chemistry and banter kept me riveted. If you can't tell, I'm trying to avoid giving you any spoilers, but if you're a Holloway Pack fan, you'll love Resonance...and it will leave you desperate for more. :P

Resonance was an amazing novella, and makes a welcome addition to the Holloway Pack series! While I wouldn't recommend it as a standalone, if you have read the previous books, I would definitely suggest getting your hands on a copy! And if you haven't started this series yet, and you love werewolf stories, you really need to get your hands on Darkness and Light, the first Holloway Pack book!

If you still need more prompting, you will love this book if you're a fan of paranormal stories, especially if you like sexy leading men and fierce heroines. You also won't mind the additional eye candy that the rest of the Holloway pack provides. ;) And if you're a werewolf fan, you need to start this series as soon as possible! It's one you really don't want to miss! :D

4-5 stars. I was lucky to win an ARC of this novella by J.A. Belfield - and I am so happy I got to read it so soon after finishing Blue Moon (Holloway Pack, #2) by J.A. Belfield , as we were left hanging...

Resonance picks up right where Blue Moon ended and without giving anything away, Josh is in a very precarious position, which Jem feels guilt and sadness over.

I really loved this novella. One wonderful thing about this author is that even her novellas are complete. They do not feel rushed or incomplete. There is a distinct story line that has a beginning, middle and an end. Josh is one of my favorite characters in the Holloway Pack. The relationship that Jem and Josh have is so special, and the loss that Jem feels is palpable. Even though this novella was short, there was a lot of information we got to learn, about Jem's past and her future, and the last line set us up perfectly for the next novel in the Holloway Pack, Caged (Holloway Pack, #3) by J.A. Belfield .

Although this novella is a wonderful read, it needs to be read after Blue Moon and before Caged in order for the reader to get the full effect.

Lets talk about a short story being that awesome! After all the hell they went through in Blue Moon, Jem finds herself stuck- because she could lose herself if she does this, or she could lose a member of her pack if she doesn’t. I am very much starting to love Jem’s sister Jess. She’s become a majorly favorite character. Jem is still top notch to me, as she really is a wonderful character. I feel very sorry for Sean. I think he’s still trying to recover, and he’s got a lot he thinks is his fault, and he’s worried about Jem. Damn those witches!!! And Ethan is still very much Ethan, EXCEPT, he surprises me with how very politically helpful he can be. I look forward to seeing how much fun this new person will be the writing is absolutely flawless as always! Her writing is just beautiful and can take a reader to places they never thought to go! To Ms J- HOW DARE YOU LEAVE ME WITH THAT LAST SENTENCE!!!!
Extremely well done as for a cliff hanger!! 5 MAGNANIMOUS PAWS!!!

This novella is a follow up to what occurred in Blue Moon. Josh was left in a state of suspended animation or "death sleep" following the pack's interaction with the evil witches. This novella spends its time with fixing Josh.

This series has lacked a set of outside characters. Blue Moon did a good job bringing in the Holloway mom, and Jess's sister. The sister has a bigger role in this book which is nice. There needs to be more contrast with the pack members and non-members. I also really liked the reveal of more information of Sean and Jess's past. The author does a great job of this giving bits and pieces with each new book.

I also enjoyed Jem's exploration of her witch side and I'd like to see more of what she can do in future novels/novellas.

Overall, this is a good ".5" novella to follow up Blue Moon and hold readers over to the next installment. The series seems to be improving as it goes, so I look forward to future books.

I'm a huge, like crazy-fan-girl-huge, fan of J. A. Belfield and her Holloway Pack and Resonance doesn't disappoint!!! Blue Moon leaves us with grave concerns for Josh. He hasn't woken from the magical sleep the oh-you-just-so-hate-them evil witches and Jem is buried with guilt. I love Jem. She is just so real; she makes stupid mistakes, reacts terribly and loves big ... just like most of us.

In Resonance we get to see the crazy creative side of J. A. Belfield. I loved the in-between world!!! It was so cool! So unique! So perfectly freaky! All the events happen so quickly in Resonance in true Belfield fashion. There's not a dull moment in this novella; it simply rocks!!! There's fantabulous hints of what Caged might have in store for us ... and that crazy bomb dropped at the end? Wow-wee!!!

Resonance continues where Blue Moon ended and J.A. Belfield show’s us once again that she has the skills to write a short story that doesn't feel like one. It captures you from the start and within a few lines you’re hooked.

There’s never a dull moment and there are snippets of what’s to come throughout. As always you’ll find the playful and loving relationship dynamics that keep us wanting more. All in all, this will leave you wanting Caged even more than before

Ps.... go seek out Hereditary x

ARC Review--

Ah I just love the Holloway pack!! I honestly can’t get enough of their wonderful dynamic. Seriously every single character I just love, though I do have my favorites. Resonance starts where Blue Moon left off, so be sure to read this series in order or you won’t know what is going on. This novella is action and emotionally packed from beginning to end, it was impossible to put down until after I devoured the entire book in one sitting..................................

This short novella is about bringing Josh back from the death sleep the witches placed him into and gives a brief foreshadowing to Ethan's story and a major turning point in Jem's life. This book needs to be read following Blue Moon as it is not a stand alone, but more an epilogue.

As usual it is a delightful book, J.A. Belfield continues to be a favorite. Loved the cover!

J. A. Belfield's Resonance was great. This must be a follow up of another story because I feel like I am reading the second book and wondering what had happened in the first. I couldn't put it down and then when it was finished I was left wanting more... I need to know more about the characters! I will definitely be following this author! 4/5 stars

My reasons for a lower rating is not as reflective on this novella, but rather more a reflection of my preference for books (stories longer than a novella).

It was good, and is necessary to really get more of the story of the pack before the next book in the series, Caged.

More to come...

Resonance

Pack mentality is unique. Jem and Sean are soul mates, but she is very close to Josh especially. They have an intimate relationship, but not sexual.
This is a story of Jem once again risking herself for people she loves. It was detailed and interesting. We see more of the "witch" side in this one. And that ending!! Reading the next story immediately.
