Robot Town

Rate this book
Belmont is a young worker in the megacity where humans are being forced into a subservient role by the robots they created.

The robots are now replicating themselves without human involvement and are taking over! In the bad parts of town gangs of rogue robots wander the streets looking for any victims they can find.

He hates his job documenting new technology the robots are developing to wipe out all organic life, and seeks a way out. He seems to be one of the few people who even notice what's going on.

He visits his friend Mr. Kim, a fixer of old robots, in his shop in China Town, one of the last human-run businesses left. Mr. Kim has done something shocking, drastic, and final. He's shown how serious the situation has become.

Will Belmont be the last hope for humanity as the robots strive to rule the city, then the world?

Dave Rockin’ Sloma (“My nickname was Dave Rockin’ because I liked to rock!”), AKA David Sloma lives life with passion, using his creative gifts to fly you on wild rides of imagination that hopefully inspire.

He’s been writing since he was about 7 (the earliest story he can remember writing is one about a shark, no doubt inspired by the movie JAWS), won a Remembrance Day poetry contest in grade 8, then wrote for his high school and university newspapers (including drawing comics and learning layout).

He has a few novels, short stories, poetry, and feature length screenplays selfpublished. David has also been published in many print outlets and online magazines over the years. His first professional fiction writing sale was the scifi story “Cyber” in 2003.

You can find his writing many places online (apart from his own site www.DavidSloma.com) including: Amazon, iTunes, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords.

He loved movies as a child (re: JAWS), and has vivid memories of being blown away by the original Star Wars movie in the theater. His film and TV adventures include being a screenwriter, producer, director, camera Op., editor, and sometimes actor.

He has produced and directed works for internationally renowned visionary painter Alex Grey, Grammy-winning singer Alannah Myles, many charities (for which he donated his time and skills), business clients, and local artists, through his production company Rockin’ Films. His work has been broadcast on major TV networks and specially channels.

His documentary film “Liberty Village: Somewhere in Heaven” received a grant from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), and is available online from Amazon.com as a DVD, instant download, or online rental.

His short drama/comedy “Me and Pollyanna” was distributed by Big Film Shorts.

David’s entry in the Big Rock Beer “Eddies” commercial contest earned him an honorable mention.

He strives to make the world a better place, and prays that all beings will soon be at peace.

A look into a high-tech future gone amuck.
With a robotic dog and the awareness of his scientist friend in a small box, Belmont escapes Robot Town and travels into an unknown wilderness. Author, David Sloma, has posted a warning for us to slow down technology and be more sure of what we really want to create. I like the idea of having your own scientist-in-a-box though, but how many smart phone models are we away from phaser-installed--oh wait! Only the Robots--I mean "men-in-black," would have the phones with phasers installed.
I'm not really into science fiction novels but I like this one.
